Samsung Account Reactivation Lock Abnormal Reset Galaxy S5 Active G870A - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

I hope I am posting in the right area... I could not find any threads on this yet when searching.
I have a Galaxy S5 Active SM-G870A ATT that has a Samsung Account Activation lock user name password lock. Reactivation Lock abnormal reset or whatever you call it.
I am trying to get this removed. Anyone find a solution for this yet? I saw some had some luck with the Note 3 with the same thing, but did not see anything on the Galaxy S5 or S5 Active. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Ok, well I appreciate you looking at it.

Log into your Samsung account, or if you don't have one make one, then sign into the account via the device. This happened to me the first time I wiped and flashed a ROM.

Logging into my samsung account did not work...

Reactivation Lock ?

Anyone know how to enable this ?
I already have a Samsung Link Account, and a Samsung Account (They are different because after I finished opening an account for Samsung Link, it asked me to create another Samsung Account using a different email).
But there is no way I can see the option to turn Reactivation Lock on.
Anyone know how?
I think it is a good feature to have because even though someone gets your phone, they literally cannot do anything since if the phone will ask them to log into your samsung account if that person wants to do a factory reset.
Even though they can get into recovery mode to do a factory reset there, but after it boots, it again will ask them to log into your samsung account in order to use the phone.

Locked Samsung account. The phone asks for ID and password

Hello. The girl bought a phone at the auction, unfortunately, the phone is locked and requires a Samsung ID and password. The guy from whom it bought do not reply to e-mails and do not answer the phone. Is there a way to bypass or delete? The phone is Samsung S6 Edge.

Sounds like the phone was reported stolen to Samsung and they locked out down.
If the phone can get to download mode, maybe Odin the update to wipe it completely. Don't know if this will work.

I did a factory reset with reactivation lock enabled on my s6. Upon set up and after I enter my Google account info, I am now also required to enter my Samsung account ID and PW. I am entering the correct info but get "processing failed" error message. I've tried everything for days now. After calling AT&T without resolution, I called Samsung and am told my only option is to mail them my phone with proof of purchase and a tech will fix it...3-4 week turn around

Hi, I have had the same issue as you. Basically if you have ever activated Samsung reactivation lock, you are screwed since the QC9 update wont let you past the google screen and if you go back to marshmallow it keeps saying activation failed. Your only option is to send it into Samsung and they will "unlock" the phone for you. I sent mine in and got it back two weeks later, unlocked.
Edit: my phone was out of warranty but they still took it in because its an issue with samsung reactivation lock, if the customer service rep gives you trouble, let him know that this is covered out of warranty.

For me, the QC9 Setup Wizard screen kept bouncing me right back to the "Name Your Device" page, after "Checking for Updates..." It wouldn't let me past it. But it turns out it was just a case of logging into my Lookout account that I had forgotten all about: https://my.lookout.com/user/login and unlocking my phone using the directions here: https://personal.support.lookout.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000036533-How-do-I-unlock-my-device-
It had nothing to do with my Samsung account. Learned my lesson not to bother with Lookout, and disabled it as soon as I got to my home screen, lol.

S10 Trade In Program - Samsung claims I did not reset the device. Advice? Help!

I was hoping for an easy trade-in with Samsung. I have no flaws on my Galaxy Note 8, I sent it in before the date that they asked.
My screen had no issues, no scratches, perfect condition.
The phone turns on and runs absolutely fine.
The last thing I did before I packed my Note8 up was to take out my SIM card and microSD card and then do a factory re-set.
The final screen I saw was when it rebooted after the reset and was ready to start the process from scratch - which I have done before.
So what happened? Why are they saying my device was NOT reset?? This is absurd, I have seen people get no credit before for other things but never the "not factory reset"!
Can someone help me or offer advice? I have a week to call them before they charge me and I can have them ship the device back, but **I had a perfect condition Note8 and I want my $550 trade in!!**

I guess you didn't remove your accounts before resetting your phone. So, most probably, the setup process will ask for previous account credentials.
Samsung should be able to bypass this protection if they want. Or you can see with them the possibility to send them your account credentials to help them unlock the phone. If they refuse then they have bad intentions...
I can only imagine it is the FRP as this would require the setup to ask for the security details you had on the device prior to reseting the device and then the Google email address attached to the account, however this would only happen after a master reset so not sure if this is the reason, however when I tried to sell a S9 to a recycle site in the UK and I made this mistake they sent it back as I was not able to remotely do this.

Did you do your factory reset through settings menu? I sent in my galaxy s8 back to them for the trade in program Monday and it was running One UI beta 3 so I flashed it through ODIN using the latest Sprint firmware and CSC file to wipe everything back to complete stock. When I did the initial factory reset before flashing in odin I went though Settings > General management > Reset > Factory data reset. It asked me for my google password before it would reset the device. I did the ODIN flash to make sure everything was gone and it was on the correct latest Sprint firmware. I was afraid being on the BETA they may reject it. Now you've got me worried because I didn't try and set the device up again to see if it asked for my google password. I'm 99% sure when doing a factory reset through settings and entering in my credentials FRP is no longer active. Does anyone know if a clean ODIN flash using the CSC (not Home CSC) will remove any and all settings such as FRP?

I am a little confused as I removed my SIM and SD Card and then did a factory reset and it went back to the first set up screen. So, you are saying if we did not remove our Google account or work email prior to factory reset they could refuse the trade in??

Yes. FRP (Factory Reset Protection) is designed to deter theft by requiring any Google account (not sure about Samsung account) that was active on the phone at the time of factory reset be logged into prior to using any other account after the factory reset. You can disable FRP by just going into Settings -> Accounts and removing your Google account prior to a factory reset.

Maybe so, but I've traded two phones with no problems and all I've ever done is a factory reset from the settings. Both times I did reboot to see if it went to the default setup screen, but that's all I've done.

Well, I appreciate everyone chiming in...I hope ultimately they approve the trade or get you phone back to you so you can sell it to recoup your money...
I checked to be sure and it seems my trade in was excepted as they only charged my Amex the discounted amount and they received my trade in on the 28th of March and i did not do anything but a Factory Reset... same thing when i traded in my S8 for the S9...
Maybe Sammy saw something questionable on the unit and used this as an excuse to deny the trade? It could be possible that this deleting of the prior accounts is in the fine print somewhere and they use when needed?

I think you're at Samsung's mercy in these situations. You can complain to them until you're blue in the face, but in the end it's at their discretion.
Yeah, there was nothing wrong with my phone so I am going to complain pretty hard. I have hit up the Samsung Mobile USA and Samsung Support USA on Twitter before and retweet them enough that I hope to make a fuss that I can get taken care of.

Good luck. What's so bad is that Samsung isn't even the one's inspecting the phones. They should have some process that makes Samsung themselves look at a phone after Ingram Micro rejects it.

Why Can't I Get Past Samsung Account?

I use my S5 for my RC hobby (Traxxas app to power my X-Maxx lights and settings) and I recently did a hard factory reset to get rid of everything else on the phone and speed it up. It reset fine and the wizard lets me setup wifi and then my google account but then it prompts me to sign into my Samsung Account but I can't. I keep getting the error "Processing Failed" (see screenshot below...).
Samsung told me the phone needs to be reflashed so they gave me a Samsung Repair Center near me (Best Buy Geek Squad) but they said they don't have the software to reflash it b/c the S5 is too old. Then Samsung told me I can mail it to them for free and they they will reflash the software but they just emailed me today saying they don't have the software to reflash it.
So now what do I do? I don't want to spend money on another phone since this worked just fine until after the factory reset. I just wanted to use this phone for the Traxxas app and nothing more. I'm hoping someone can help point me in the right direction. Hopefully nothing too complicated but I can follow steps...
P.S. Will I still have issues getting past this Samsung Account login screen if I buy a cheap unlocked S5?

Samsung has a kind of FRP Google-ish protection, someone else signed in the Samsung account without log out correctly previous to factory resetting the device.

Not sure what you mean with, but my answer still remains, Samsung has this lock to all Samsung devices, not only those models, when the device was reset, without logging out first of the Samsung account, in a reboot, device will prompt for the Samsung ID and the password, of course, if no one has signed in, previously, this measure is not triggered.

Well, maybe, but not that only VZN and AT&T, (or probably you mean from the US branded variants)
Samsung has the Reactivation lock enabled for all devices since various Android versions ago, from what I remember, at least MM.
Also, can depend on the specific build number.

Because ATT and Verizon S5 models have that FRP thingy on by default and they are cloneware models that are not even running stock Samsung Touchwiz as it has been heavily modified to fit their network. I know this because I did a firmware downgrade with my Verizon S5 and that popped up. My Tmobile S5 when I downgraded from 6.0.1 to 5.0 that screen didn't pop up. My N910C running 5.1.1 I did a factory reset from recovery and that screen didn't pop up.

I did a factory reset of my G900T on Kitkat and that didn't pop up. No issues relogging into my Samsung account afterwards.

Which proves my point that the ATT and Verizon models are basically cloneware models since I didn't encounter the device is locked due to a abnormal factory reset . I don't know why you keep insisting that ATT and verizon models are basically stock Samsung firmware phones.

I talked about the Reactivation Lock, present in all Samsung devices, at least, from what I remember, since MM, (And hilariously, you mentioned KitKat), and I'm repeating my words, as you can check.
It doesn't matter if the device is sold to any country, or region, or whatever.
After that, a carrier can put what they want over that firmware, (they have this established in the contract), but the Reactivation Lock feature will be still there.
Improving security is not an election, it's a plus, that Samsung offers. For what reason, carriers couldn't want this feature, till the point of discard it from its devices?

Imo it's only present on the Verizon and AT&T models like I said because Tmobile firmware is close to a G900F model firmware as you can get and I did a factory reset with my Samsung account still present on the device and that did not pop when I logged back into my Samsung account. You apparently still can't grasp the concept that the Verizon and AT&T models are basically cloneware models aka heavily modified do they don't resemble stock Samsung firmware.
