Hi sry but I don't know what a "kernal" is.

Best not to do anything to your phone until you read up and learn about all this stuff.
The moto x is unfortunately an easy device to brick, or at least have big problems... If you do things without knowing what you are doing,... You're asking for trouble. ?

Question about Rooting in the US

Hello there! I apologize for being a twit, but I just received my shiny white Note today and am super excited; coming from an Atrix this is a huge upgrade! I did have a question about rooting though. My phone has the N7000XXKKA (2.6.35) kernal, and I've seen the specific rooting tools in the Development section, but I noticed some of the files have the same name but different countries attached to them. Do I need to know where my phone was made? Or can I use any of the files that match the kernel version I currently have? Thanks!

The original firmware on my phone was for Brazil (UBKK1) and I put on checkRom (which uses XXLA4.) Everything works fine.

For Rooting, you need not to care about your region, You have kernel KKA, then you go to this tread, find 'I have kernel KKA'(lower part of OP) download required file, extract n run I am unrooted script.
Thanks! Your thread was incredibly helpful and did the trick. I have a question that's not really related, but you might know: If I install one of the custom roms, will it break the pressure sensitivity of the S-Pen? I do a lot of sketching with it so I don't want it to stop functioning.

[Q] NooB Question

Firstly I apologize as I have found this being asked before, but not in these circumstances. I am new to android being a long time iphone user. I now have a N7000 that I used PC Odin to flash LPY. I have noticed all of the concerns over bricking and with my lack of knowledge I am thinking I should flash a custom rom to avoid these issues.
My question is which is a good rom to go with, ICS (Such as kingdroid 2.0 or something GB?) More accurately what is the best process? I am currently not rooted. I am ignorant to android and I have noticed a steep learning curve making the transition. I explain this to help understand why I am asking this question.
I have attempted to search, and I have browsed Dr. Ketan's thread, and I still cant find a good answer. I just don't want to have a bricked phone trying to get to a custom rom. Any help or suggestions is highly appreciated.
Should I root it first then use CWM to switch to another rom?
What custom roms are recommended for easy use out of the box?
Another quite simple question is if I saved all of my contacts to google are they currently synced, as in if I switch to another rom they will still be accessible?

What I would do if I were in your place: I'd revert to rooted GB like this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25285584&postcount=3
then I'd flash one of the CM9-based Roms, because they are the only truly safe ICS Roms ATM, and these are
1. official CM9
2. Asylum
3. Paranoid
4. MIUI
5. KANG
Also, your contacts are safe with Google, and you can restore them in no time at all.

Thanks for your response, when you say revert to a rooted GB is that the process through PC odin? Also does it need to be one of the safe roms? It seems the problem stems from a wiping command?
Hello!
Yes , use pc odin to revert back to gb, i did so, i used an prerooted stock gb .
Then follow chasmodos guides to go to ics again.
One more thing, to back up my apps so they are there on the new rom do I have to be rooted?

yes !! to use app like Titanium Backup !
or since you probably downloaded all apps from Google Play Market
then when u install your new firmware/rom you can simply download all of them from google play(but u lose the data of those apps )

I have been reading this guide as I have 4.1.2 currently.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2123369

Also been looking at Roms. Moto JB looks good but I cant really find much else. any suggestions?

[Q] htc one root to google editon noob

Hello,
I have an htc one from o2. I want to root it to google edition. Iam a noob at this so can someone show me the way or links to a tutorial please.
Is it worth doing? whats the advantages of a rooted phone? sorry for the questions but i have come from iphone to android so iam new to all this.
thanks
My advice is keep studying, install the sdk and get good at adb and comfortable! Once you're ready and able use a guide for your phone and read it a couple times before you start. Most importantly don't stop any operations you attempt in mid stream follow through and don't reboot until you know it's all good. Hope it's as fun for you as it was for me.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
thanks for that, but that means nothing to me.Whats the advantages etc. Is it worth it. i can follow tutorials etc. just need to know what the best guide is etc
If you don't know what the advantages of a rooted phone are and what root means, why are you trying to do it? To be honest I don't even understand your post - do you want to root your rom, have a rooted google edition rom or fully convert to a google edition phone?
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
sorry for the confusion. Like i say im new to this.
I dont know the difference, i know rooting that you can put custom roms on it, but whats the difference and best, do fully make it google edition or put a custom rom on?

First off, you don't need to be rooted to flash a custom rom - all you need is a custom recovery after you unlock your bootloader. A good guide for noobs to read is the one by mike1986 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618
If I were you, I'd stick to just flashing a google edition rom to see if you like it, rather than doing a full conversion. This way you can easily get back to stock. This rom is 4.3 Google edition and already rooted:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341395
Read the guide above carefully though. Especially the parts about backing up stock, or you'll be back here later asking for help..

can any one post stock for my moto x 1052 Retail EU versions 4.4.4.
:crying:

Mahesh...
I'm not sure that the files have been released for manual flashing yet.
Can you be more specific on the current state of your device... It's wiped and unusable? What have you tried flashing exactly? Did you try to flash an older version of android?
And what All have you tried to do.
And what version were you on before all this?
And how were you rooted exactly?
Just trying to see the whole picture here. Need all this info to really help... Hopefully.
At this point, you may be waiting until the files are out for flashing.... Unless your answers to these questions change something. ?

I suggest you not do anything else until you've researched this a bit more.
No, you can't downgrade safely. You could brick your device trying, or later by taking an OTA.
I don't, and many others, ever suggest downgrading. It's very dangerous and has left many with serious problems, or even unusable devices.
That said. Why are you trying to unroot exactly?
Also... You can only flash the 4.4.4 files now. They probably aren't available yet so you will need to be patient. If CM is working for you now, that's great.... But you may be stuck like that until the SBF files are out for 4.4.4....then you can flash it with RSDLite or fastboot.
I don't see you have any other safe options.

Hi, how did u flash CM11, can u post a link for the rom for CM11 for Moto X XT1052.. Plz thank you in advance..
There are some sites that host the leaked roms listed HERE -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/info-tip-web-sites-official-leaked-roms-t2923347
You'll want to check ALL of the links.

1. You need to be unlock the bootloader
2. Next You need root your device and install custom recovery . Follw the links it can help you:
Unlock boot loader : http://www.idroidspace.com/how-to-unlock-moto-x-bootloader-officially-all-carriers/
For root : http://www.reddit.com/r/MotoX/comments/20j27k/the_ultimate_moto_x_root_thread/
if you have ANY doubtS CHECK IN THE PORTAL.
Everything is covered here on XDA... Much easier to get help if you stay on this site for guides.
Like this one for unlocking and installing recovery help...

Not sure why anyone would need to send people to other websites for these basic things. ?

Hi, I think u go my question wrong.. I asked to post link to the CM11 ROM where u got your s from..
I already have my boot loader unlocked and rooted device.. as I'm using krypton ROM for quite a long now.
So plz give link to CM11 ROM for xt1052

There's only one cm rom in the development section. And unless there's been a recent change, it's been discontinued, and has bugs. ?

How many phones have you bricked? I'm sorry, but I remember many of your posts with big problems in the past. You seem to ignore most advice. No offense intended.... But it's true.
Cause this one will brick if you ever take an ota. Practically guaranteed.
Hope you realize that? ?
Also.... Everyone gets lucky occasionally.... But the X section is filled with threads from people who didn't get lucky.
So please never recommend anyone try it. You don't want to be responsible for them being unlucky and destroying their toy. Right? ?

i don t recommend it like we speak in another thread.
i just tell that this is possible.
i bricked the device for others reasons and not for downgrade.
but like u say if the people don t know how to do it or what s the risk to do it : DON T DOWNGRADE.

You have a fitting user name. ?
Seriously, with some people not knowing what they are doing... And with communication misunderstandings due to language barriers and what not...
If someone asks you can they safely downgrade.... Just say no. ?
Cause it's never safe. You're adventure isn't necessarily over either.... If you take an ota accidentally or on purpose... You might be phone shopping. ?
That's all I'll say on that.
