is it true that warranty will be void for ever on rooting moto x xt1052?
If you brick it and are unable to recover the OS, you're gonna be SOL. If your phone encounters a hardware issue, they might honor the warranty.

Pa Cm And LS are unified builds so you can flash them. There are no stock based roms specifically for this variant.
To flash those roms its a tedious process

Here's a guide to help with the rooting. And to install a ROM, just follow the instructions in the ROM threads.

Yea it works perfect. I am on stock + faux kernel. Works like a charm. Can't live without active display.
Yea latest PA is there. Check in AOSPA thread
Just stick with the stock software so you don't lose any unique Moto features and once rooted install Xposed with the Gravity Box module. Gravity Box module has almost every Rom tweak you can think of built in, you can pick and choose what features you want to use...it's like building your own custom rom.
@DaRkRhiNe are all the indian 16Gb variants of Moto X are XT-1052 ?? Because my friend bought it and wants to root it too. Also if you are a 1052 user, did you receive the 4.4.4 update or are you still stuck on 4.4.2 like me?
@FSRBIKER what Xposed tweaks do you use?
If you want to try a stock based ROM that keeps all Motorola's goodies try Kryptonite. There's a patch for the UK XT1052 retail to get it to work.

Yea 32 gb version was not released in India. And I am still on 4.4.2
Xposed Modules, Gravity Box has most options from Roms built in, Apps Ops for controlling apps permissions, MinMinGuard for ad blocking, I'm experimenting with Intelli3G(on Play Store) right now to switch phone to 2G when screen is off then to LTE or Wifi when the screen is on to save battery. I've used Twisty Switch and XYZToolbox also.

It is possible that your carrier has instructed Moto to not release the BL unlock code for their devices. All I can suggest is re-running the get unlock data command, triple-checking it, trying again, and then possibly trying on another computer.
In addition, the Moto website is known to be 'glitchy' sometimes, so you might try tomorrow and it could work immediately.
Sorry, this is all the advice I have for you.
Good Luck
EDIT: Also, you probably already know, but it should ONLY be the data, in one string. Remove the [bootloader] text and only have the data itself.

Any answer to your question would be pure speculation... Depends what you do to brick it...
But being locked with only the stock recovery your options are very, very limited. The stock recovery practically can only flash the stock firmware. If that does not work you're out of luck.
With a custom recovery installed (which requires you to unlock the bootloader), you have many more options and in most cases it's easy to recover from a soft brick.
I would feel totally helpless without a custom recovery and an unlocked bootloader. You do have to do a lot of reading though. Total control of your tablet also means you can totally brick it if you do the wrong thing.
But Xposed and the modules you run with it rarely get you into that kind of trouble.
Still....
Hi i hope someone can help me i would like to go back to stock Kitkat after being on CM12 lollipop for a while but i am unsure iff i have downloaded the correct stock rom. Could someone please have a look and let me know iff i have downloaded the correct Rom. This is the rom i downloaded XT1052_RETAIL-EU_4.4.4_KXA21.12-L1.26_54_cid7_CFC_1FF.xml. Before i flashed cm12 i was running Kitkat 4.4.4 and i am in the UK. I intend to do this procedure using Rsdlite.
Make sure you dont downgrade... put your phone in fastboot mode and check the bootloader version of your phone and let me know... AFAIK you Will be ok with the firmware you downloaded... Just take more precautions before flashing through rsd.. REMEMBER NEVER DOWNGRADE or else you will be hard bricked... As long as you dont downgrade and your firmware version matches your carrier you are good to go...

Ok i think you are all ready and set up to flash the stock firmware, again make sure that your phone is XT1052. And then go ahead and flash that stock firmware... And dont forget to edit the XML file and remove the lines that have "getvar'" written in them.. Save the xml file and flash through rsd.. again take precaution of the Boot loader you dont want to downgrade!
Here is a little heads up or info of boot loader's according to the firmwares for you :
30.70: original 4.2.2
30.71: 4.2.2 camera update
30.B2: 4.4
30.B4: 4.4.2
30.B7: 4.4.4
The order that I've written above is: (Bootolader: Android Version)
So you are on 30.B7 bootloader right now so you can flash 4.4.4 easily... But DONT EVER TRY TO FLASH BELOW 4.4.4...
Good luck mate...

IF the original motorola back is on the phone, there is some very fine/small print at the bottom of the back. It will have the FCC ID, Model number, etc. It could be hard to see, you might have to tilt/twist the phone so the light shines off it just right, or use a magnifying glass if you're my age.

Im surprised i think you should at least be on 4.4.4 by now but perhaps its a carrier restriction. The reason i want lollipop update is because i am now wanting to sell the phone and it will demand a slightly higher value being on the latest software.

I am familiar with this issue it used to happen to me too sometimes. CM12 is very good but i think because their is not a stable release yet their are still some little glitches. Otherwise most of the time it works really well and very customisable. Iff i wasnt going to sell my phone i would have definetly stayed with cm12 their doing a great job.

You can't downgrade if you're already on 5.0, and even if you could, you can't install anything beyond Touchwiz (Samsung) based ROMs because of a locked bootloader.
Let me know if you have any luck

Thank you for posting this question because I am in the exact same situation. I have an AT&T Galaxy S 5 Android 5.1.1. I was never interesting in rooting my phone until just recently and have been doing some light reading on Life Hacker to learn more and it brought me here. I just wanted to clarify your comment above. Are you saying that having the phone that I/we have we are completely out of luck if we wanted to root/modify our phones? Forever or just until something changes down the road?
Well I sold my at&t s5 and ordered a unlocked tmobile s5 to use on at&t with my sim card because you can root the tmobile version. I hope one day soon someone will figure out how to root it I believe it will be done soon just keep checking back on here.

I don't think that will work, the firmware listed there is 4.4.2 which is KitKat, you can not downgrade to KK if you are on lollipop or marshmallow, you could soft brick or worse. I would not attempt this unless you are actually on KK.

For future reference, don't give these unsure ideas to people and tell them to update their phones like this. At the moment, YOU CANNOT GET ROOTED LOLLIPOP 100% of the time unless you were/are on 4.4.2 KitKat with root (use Towelroot) and update through muniz_ri's update method. Trying to downgrade to KitKat will result in a bricked device as the thread previously mentioned.
The reason why root persists on 5.0 when you update it via this method is due to using the older bootloader which doesn't verify the system's integrity the same way the newer bootloaders do.
