Hi there, I have lumia device running wp 8.1 update 1 preview for developer. Right now I want to downgrade my lumia to get cyan update.
But since I have a lot huge app and games (around 16gb of apps) it will simply pain in ass if i have to redownload all of them when i restore my phone using online backup (setting->backup) method. I tried to search on web, but could not find any solution to backup my apps offline on my local storage.
Is there anyone here know how to backup app offline on local storage?? Or maybe know a way to extract .xap or .appx file from my phone to pc so I can reinstall it when restoring my phone??
Please help me. Thanks

Hi I just upgraded my Rom to the official one from the HTC website and it seems that I am missing the Android market application. Could some one please post a link for that. It is really a pain cuz without the market I can't install any app since there is no file manager either. Help. would be really appreciated. Thanks
if some one could pls backup their android market using astro, and email me the apk link, that would be great! takes 5 mins only.
i backed up my apps using astro before rom upgrade and i managed to get them re installed again. after a long time searching i net, i download and installed the app "slide me"... which is also a catalogue app for android but has the feature for u to install apps of ur sd card.
this is where i had backed up all my apps before rom upgrade. its sad that i didnt back up the android market cuz i assumed that it would come with the rom. my mistake. so if some one could pls?

my friend i had a similar problem , cuz i am in a country that google does not support it .... " forbidden " but i find out y the android is the best by allowing any app to be installed freely
the solution is >>>> go to www.getjar.com and search for Bluetooth ftp
or take this one that i have on my pc get the attachments SAM.zip
and download it . its an app that allow you to browse your phone and send and receive files from other people , to install an app you have to download the apps into your SD card then open it using this pro and the android package installer will start ...
later if you want a a better android browsing pro I recommender The Linda file or Astro file manager
if you want more apps just search the getjar.com
or softonic.com or 4shared.com and you will find any thing you want

How does that help him with the Android Market??
yes, I have the same problem. Could someone please show us how to retrieve the android market.
If you guys used the search you might figure out that this topic has been answered many times already.
Because of misunderstandings between HTC and google was the first non-google branded HTC Adroid mobiles without the market.
The market cannot be backed up using ANY application backup tools. The market require core functionality there isn't in the most sea magics.
You need to wait for an update from HTC there includes the market or flash a rom there got it.
So what's the best way to back up apps/contacts for the Note?
Thanks in advance, guys.
May I add a question regarding backup issue,
How to backup game score & level as well?
For contacts I personally use google to sync and for apps I use Titanium Backup Pro but for that you have to be rooted.
Sent from my Galaxy Note using tapatalk
google for contacts
mybackup root for apps and data - but like titanium backup you need root, tehre are other options available for mybackup that dont need root in the market
Backup your contacts by going into your contacts app, click 'menu' and select export, then export to sd card. Backs up all your contacts

This is realy the best and fastest way and most save and how to root you can find it also here on XDA it's easy if you read carefully
Sync with google isnt fast.. Its instant.. You dont even have to think about it..
for the apps,i always use titanium backup!
in pro version you can also program a backup for new apps downloaded since the last backup and it's fully programmable (either days or hours of the day)

Hey!! a question, with titanium backup, the back up its saved in the SD Card right?? and can i copy wherever it backs up to a PC to have you now a Back up of a Back up ??
May be is a stupid question, i want havent buy it yet!! Thanks!!!
Short answer: Yes.
For backing ur apps u can use my phone explorer. It can backup everything on ur phone to pc includings messages, call logs, settings, apps, etc. For this to work u have to install my phone explorer in ur windows computer and my phone explorer phone client in ur phone available in android market. Then run both simultaneously and you can connect ur phone to pc either via bluetooth, wifi or usb. Also no need to root ur phone as well.

Simple way to backup apps & their settings?
Hi guys, so is there a simple, easy way to backup apps & all of their settings without having to root the phone? I've been able to backup every other phone I've owned, and I am baffled why it's so hard with the Note.

Not sure about that but there are a lot of third party apps for backing up the games data. But its your safest option without rooting.
copy files to your computer

i have used this app before with my HTC desire and i absoultley love it....
i recently just got the S3 and wanting to transfer all my messages etc to the S3 from the Desire... i have done the back up from the HTC..
but im trying to connect the S3 via USB and having issues it tells me i need to set the S3 to "connect only" but for the USB modes im only finding two options neither one being "connect only"
how do i make the S3 connect via USB...

You may find a guide 'How to keep device data up to date' useful, find it from my signature.
i wanna know what is the best method that i can find the source file *apk on my device if i get the application from the play Store or any store ?? where can i find the source file of it to re install it when i need without internet connection ???
Backup of your app?
Plenty of apps available to back them up with, if you've already uninstalled it I think your only other option is to download again.
Use "App backup & restore".
It creates apk of your installed apps.

If your device is rooted you can find your applications at /data/app and your system applications at /system/app
Just stay careful of what you do with system apps
There are several apps which can do App backups for you if you have root, one example of an excellent backup application is Titanium Backup, the Pro version even allows you to sync your backup to Dropbox or Box. The apks of the backed up applications will then be in the Titanium Backup folder you designated on your SD Card and even in your Dropbox if you used the feature.

Hi,
first, sorry my english.
After Amber update (Lumia 720) my Here apps are not working anymore.
Running any app that uses the Here offline maps takes my Lumia to restart.
Is there any way/app for deleting maps without reading it? (The native one tries to read the map and the phone restarts too).
Other way would be hard reset. What prevents me of doing that is the whatsapp app data. To make an backup and then recover app data from it, I would need to sideload whatsapp (dev unlocked). The newest version I found is 2.8.0.0, which does not work anymore. So, an newer and working version of whatsapp to sideload would solve my problem too.
Any help? Tks.
The only thing that comes to my mind is via Settings -> Apps -> Maps, it doesn't show the maps, just which ones you installed and you can delete them.. however I don't know if it will crash too. Did you save them on an SD card?
For Whatsapp, maybe you could make a request for someone with an Ativ S, they should be able to extract it and send you the xap.
The Settings -> Apps -> Maps procedure takes me to instant phone restart, as the Here apps, and some other that uses the installed maps. And the maps are on Phone Memory.

well, since i am lazy, i didnt spend time for resetting also i was afraid to lose my data by doing any mistake after reset.
so, i did another solution:
* i installed "lumia storage check beta"
* i set sd card for storing maps
* i downloaded maps again into sd card
and now i am able to use my apps.
but still i dont know any way to delete maps in telephone storage.
Alright so I'm dealing with a X98 Air ll that is dual boot - Windows and Android.
Android has the problem of GOOGLE PLAY STORE is not working, like at all.
The developers are aware of this but only linked to a thread on this forum, here's the guide on how to solve my problem, supposedly:
http://www.teclast.com/en/Information/newspic/image141216.jpg .. Since I'm a newbie on forums I can't post images so heres the full guide provided by user Frontier:
Anyone having issues with Google Play Store - this applies to both Air 3G with the latest 2.0.1 update (will post more information later) and Air II - please apply this fix.
Your OS should be rooted in order for this to work (I used X98 Toolbox to root my X98 Air 3G, simply connect the tablet to the PC, double-click on 1_Toolbox.bat and press 'E' on the menu).
- Download the files from here.
- Copy the .apk files to a folder on your microSD card.
- Go to Settings > Apps and uninstall Google Play Store.
- Install using the supplied .apk's the following (in this order): Google Play Services, Google Play Store and Link2SD.
- Go to Link2SD, find Google Play Store > Actions > Convert into system app.
- When the conversion is complete, reboot the tablet.
You should find that Google Play store works now, if you still have issues clear ALL it's data and re-enter your account information.

Okay so, this guide is really vaguely written and really hard to understand.
First off, connecting the tablet and downloading the files, running 1_Toolbox.bat and pressing E only refreshes the bat window. It doesn't give any confirmation or anything.. So I guess I move on ?
1) I downloaded the files.
2) I put the .apk files on the microSD card.
3)THERE IS NO UNINSTALL Google Play Store. No applications under "App". None. Zilch. Zero. I reset to factory settings and still no app to uninstall.
4) Did I miss a part where you put the microSD into the tablet? Because I did that but the tablet doesn't register it. Do I install it from the PC?
5) The MicroSD isn't registered, under Storage -> it also doesn't give me an option to browse the microSD.
In general, this whole guide is really written vaguely and written by, and to, someone who has development knowledge.
For a noob (At least to developming) this guide is REALLY bad.
Can anyone help me explaining what I should do ?

At least its a guide and "could be improved a little bit". If google apps are system apps already you can't uninstall the apks without a dedicated app. Titanium Backup (e.g. for uninstalling system apps) and Total Commander(File manager e.g. for browsing sd card) are very usefull. Just copy the needed apks to your phone's storage and open them to install. You don't need to use a micro sd card for it

I have a folder called APKs on my sd card. Just create a folder "APKs" to have all apks in one place. If you open the apk files in android they will be installed to the right direction.

Has your phone any kind of file manager or may be a app called "documents" installed to open folders or files in your storage? If not you can enable "USB debugging" and install any apps easily using Android Commander from your computer while your phone is connected by a usb cable.

Ahh now we getting somewhere. I am learning a lot of things. I had an app called file explorer - from there, I could see what's on the internal and what's on the SD. From there, I installed Total Commander and Titanium Backup.
Total Commander works and gives me a great outlook of what's on the SD cart and internal.
Titanium Backup seems like a weird app. I don't think I can do anything because I don't have it rooted (?? EDIT: Pic ). I think I have to follow this guide, it's a ROM (??) that I have to install. Once installed, or the bios flashed (??) I will have to use Titanium Backup to uninstall Google Play Store I presume ?
Thanks for the help so far!

Okay, first I tried to do it by downloading it and running it from PC. I opened debug mode, let it download, etc, and on the phone it opens a chinese app.. I did uninstall some apps, but a lot remain.
So I tried to download the .apk manually and that resulted it in trying to root as well, but it fails to root and just returns to chinese text.
I still fail to root my device
EDIT: Trying something
Using this guide I made it work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL-SV8UatOU&feature=youtu.be
