Is there any application where I could set time when my work email syncs my mail? I had Samsung note before POP and at the Samsung I could set my work day so phone will automatically sync my email and at home I was free from work relaited mails
I think you could do this with Touchdown... You'd want to set it to sync only during peak times then define peak times - both are in the advanced section of the settings.

The biggest problem I met when using Captivate is the time for email sync. I have two accounts, one Gmail and one hotmail. Normally it would took 1-2 minute to sync the Gmail account, but for the hotmail account it always costs more than 5 minutes and sometimes after 5 minute waiting it showed "connection error" sign and I have to refresh again. I tried both home wifi and 3G network, and the waiting time is similar. I don;t know how your Captivate perform in sync emails. Is my waiting time common or I need to change some setting to improve the performance? Thanks!
Is your Hotmail setup as an Exchange account or a POP account on your phone? As of 8-30, you can now use exchange for Hotmail accounts and it will push emails to your phone. The only drawback is that it doesn't support HTML emails yet, just text. Search 'Hotmail Active Exchange' for the settings.

I got my Note just a few days ago and I am getting to know it but I'm having a really stupid and annoying email problem.
I have an iPad and a Note and the same gMail account configured on both. When I get an email in the gmail account, the iPad gets it first EVERY time. If I test the email by sending it from my PC, the iPad will get the email in a few seconds. The Note always takes longer. Sometimes 10 seconds, sometimes 20 minutes and occasionally, never at all!!
I've tried both the gMail app (which I hate) and the stock Samsung app (gmail setup as exchange) individually and both together and sometimes one will get email first and the other will get it 10 mins later!
I've also configured my wife's iPhone 4s to get the same emails and that too gets the emails exactly the same time as the iPad.
What on earth's going on?
I had a Galaxy S before the Note and that would get email at exactly the same time as the iPad, every single time.
Auto sync is on, email is on push for both email apps. Both devices are using the same gmail account.
Can anyone please help, I've completely factory reset my Note twice and the problem's still here.

Try this:
Set it up as an Exchange account like this:
enter user name and password
do manual set up
select Exchange
leave domain blank and /your user name as is
leave password as is
change server to m.google.com: 443
select push
Syncs just like any other Exchange account. Should receive everything at the same time.
Thanks. I tried this and it didn't seem to make any difference but I tried something else that seems to have done the trick.
I was previously syncing email, contacts and cals via the gmail account and not using the exchange account. I unchecked ALL the sync items on the 'normal' gmail account ie no contacts, no mail and no cals but checked contacts on the exchange account. Just to recap:
gmail account --> no sync for any items
exchange account ---> sync mail, contacts etc
selecting anything else to sync using exchange seems to have done the trick. It now seems to sync and for the moment, it's getting the email within a few seconds of the iOS devices. Few seconds later later though
Now onwards to tackle the sucky battery life...
My stock mail app on HTC One only syncs when I open the mail app, I have tried various syncing settings from smart sync to syncing every 10 mins, but still only ever updates when I actually open the mail app.
any one with similar problems?
any solutions would be great.
thanks

Is auto sync enabled under Accounts? Have you enabled background sync?

HTC ONE - stock mail app not sync automatically
I actually upgraded from the HTC ONE X to the HTC ONE. On the ONE X I had no issue with the mail. On the HTC ONE my stock mail app stopped auto sync just out of the blue. I am running the stock 4.1.2 OS/Sense version 5. I have 3 mail accounts that do not sync.(Gmail, Yahoo, MS Exchange) They will sync only when I open up the mail app. I have the sync set to 5 min. intervals and to sync the inbox. I have the Data Connection put to sleep in the power save setting Turned Off and the " sleep mode " turned off in the power settings.
check 1
auto sync in settings is off or on
check 2
see if you hv ticked refresh on open in email account settngs
that may be super ceding all your other email settings.
I am using the simple email app included, Gmail is disabled. Using arhd 10.1 but this problem was here long before with original stock.
I guess I have already tried all possible combinations to have the mail sync, maybe someone else has an idea on how this works if at all.
In settings I tried the smart sync, then each number of minutes, whatever I put in there, the only way to have the mail query the server is to manually open the application. For instance, I send myself an email from desktop, my ipad picks it up in a matter of seconds, I mean the fu$#er is in sleep mode, cover on, then I almost instantly hear that notification sound. The One however, I could wait all day, no sign it knows about it.
I have 2 email accounts configured, yahoo and Gmail, I also tried to add one at a time, nothing seems to help.
Thanks for any idea on how to make it work or any suggestions on a third party app?

Smartsync takes time to build a database of data about your usage and when to check for email. For Gmail the best bet is the Gmail app, which will get almost instant push notifications.

I'd rather be using only one app for my email accounts - - the stock mail for instance.
It's just that no sync mode seems to work, be it smart or not

like the guy said above. smart sync needs to build a repour before it will know when to check. its not having information pushed to it like the gmail app is. your best bet is to use the 2 separate apps since each individual app has the ability to push emails immediately while HTC's smart sync or manual sync is just basically timed sync-ing. its just that smart sync is timed to how the phone learns your usage?

As I said the manual mode doesn't work either.
I am going to try k9 for now..

Okay, I think the problem might be elsewhere: the k9,same as mail doesn't seem to sync either. I have tried this over wifi and data, in power settings the sleep mode is disabled, I even disabled power saver.
Does email synchronization works for anyone excepting gmail users?
I am going to enable gmail, see how that behaves with sync..

Manual mode as in your in the mail app and request it to refresh? And the email still doesn't come through? Not sure then.. I used smart sync for a while then I found it to not update fast enough for my needs. But it did always work.

The mail app syncs over wifi, I found out. Yes, it took a while (set it up to check at 5 minutes.). However, it still doesn't work when screen is off.
While on data only, the whole sync is very conservative. Unless I open up myself the mail thing it doesn't bother to refresh. In fact, the only thing synchronizing over data is weather from BW widget, but even then I am afraid it only refreshes itself when opening the screen. Ah, and Google play, I get notifications over mobile data as well.
I mean I used to want this conservative data behavior when on 100mb data plan, however now I have 3gb to spend and having trouble with email notifications?
I suspect there might be a misbehaving app will try reinstalling everything and one app at a time..

penultimate post.
Now on N6 coming from Note 3 I miss the touchwiz mail... Well it had an option to only get mail notifications 8-5p M-F and none on weekend. This was for exchange so I don't get company mail
The N6 mail does not have a sync scheduling option like Note 3. Is there a particular app or process that I can find 3rd party to turn sync of mail on/off automatically like listed above?

I was in the same boat coming from the Note 3. I found that gmail exchange wasn't downloading some huge emails so I tried mail wise and it worked good then I switched to cloud magic. Cloud magic is like gmail exchange and looks like gmail and unfortunately I haven't found any peak adjustments there. I didn't like mail wise interface...it didn't have a material theme.
Use maildroid and you can either modify your notifications or actual connection to the server.
@parcou, I use Nine, it's not free, but for me it's the best exchange client for android, it have that option an more, example: you can combine a peak period using push and a off peak period using pull for x minutes you choose, or off peak never get email, etc...
I thanked you all...
I will begin today trying those apps... I hate to go outside the built-in apps but I really need this function to not have company mail notification all day...
I did not know Gmail had that option when I go setup an account in Gmail only list pop/imap but since not peak time scheduling no worries any way...
Thx for feedback let me begin to test...
Check out Mail Wise. Just learned of it recently and I love it. You can set when to receive alerts etc.
