Today came a warning from google for towelroot on my device, seems that google is picking up security...
I thought Google weren't the one having issues with rooted phones. It's more trouble for companies like Samsung, etc, since a rooted phone means a chance that the bloatware they own might be gone.

Hi All,
I shattered the screen on my Note 2 so I picked up a Note 3 (KK 4.4.2... stock ROM) yesterday. I've rooted it using towelroot and now want to install a custom ROM to clear out some of this stock crap on here. Anyhow, I've got Busybox, SuperSU and SELinux installed and am now having issues installing Safestrap. No matter which version I try (v3.71, 3.72 and even 3.75) I am unable to "Install Recovery". It goes through the actions to 100% and even says that it's completed the installation, but the State always stays at "Not installed". Nothing is showing up on the splash page either, so at this point I'm kinda stuck.
Any ideas here????
Got it figured out. Found in another thread a few pages in that someone else had the same problem. Didn't realize that after "installing" BusyBox, you had to actually go into it and "INSTALL" it. LOL! Got into Safestrap 3.75 now w/o issue...
Thanks bro

Background:
So after we gained root on the Note 4 everyone was excited, except that we all didn't like the KingRoot applications running
on our device and were not sure what it all was collecting. Also, many of our favorite programs we know work with SuperSU and
some even look for it. So we decided as a team to take on the challenge and come out with this script that will completely remove all of the KingRoot applications and put SuperSU on our device.
Requirements:
• KingRoot application on your device (There are known issues with certain versions of Kingroot, below is the version I use and know works well..)
Don't even try to run this if you have not just done a clean reboot and then rooted with KingRoot. Yes, you must do
this, otherwise you risk a reboot in the middle of the process and will have to do it anyway..
What does it do?:
• Removes KingRoot / Kingo Root applications
• Disables Knox
• Installs SuperSU
• It does NOT give you permanent root on the Note 4 (Update: The Pro version includes root protection, you will be surprised at how long you can retain root now.
What audience of device does it support?:
• AT&T Note 4
• Verizon Note 4
• Many, many other devices
It also will work on pretty much any other device that has KingRoot installed and you are looking at getting over to SuperSU..
This will work on any Android OS as long as you are rooted with KingRoot first.
Process if your device reboots / you lose root:
Uninstall Super-Sume Pro
Reboot
Root with KingRoot 5.x or newer
Install and run Super-Sume Pro
Here is a nice video that ours truly, RootJunky put together:

all of the KingRoot applications and put SuperSU on our device.
Requirements:
The program requires that your manufacturer USB drivers are installed for your specific device as well as the following:
• Windows Operating System
• USB Debugging turned on for your device
• KingRoot application on your device
The process in the beginning will ask you to hard reboot your device and re-root the device with KingRoot. Yes, you must do
this, otherwise you risk a reboot in the middle of the process and will have to do it anyway..
We are also currently finishing up an on-device script for you as well as possibly an apk you could install to do the same thing. We are also
fine with anyone who wants to take this on and use our script as a guide. Just be fair and give us credit in the post..
What does it do?:
• Removes KingRoot applications
• Disables Knox
• Installs SuperSU
• Soft Reboot at the end
What audience of device does it support?:
• AT&T Note 4
• Verizon Note 4
All of the above require you to be running KitKat on the device as well. There currently is no root method available for the Lollipop release.

custom stock rom
I know this won't allow custom roms but is it possible to have a modified stock rom? Awesome work will try this later today
As far as root is concerned is this method permanent, I know kingroot isn't and this just seems to replace kingroot jazz with supersu, which is awesome by the way, but I saw no mention of permanent root or temp root.

So this is not working for me.
I have used odin to succesfully downgrade from lollipop to 4.4.4 via the Stock_Restore_NJ5.zip file. Everything upon reboot of that shows the phone is running fine.
I have enable USB Debugging. I have no versions of SuperSU installed previously. I have the usb drivers installed and running your script seems to work fine. Kingroot apps are cleaned out during the script and SuperSU is installed. I run it and update the binary but after a 10+ second wait I get an installation failed.
I have factory reset the phone and tried it all once again but still the same outcome. I have verified that NJ5 is my current build.
Any ideas?
made me check box in developer options "mock locations". is that normal? i dont remember seeing that in video. took me forever to figure out what it wanted me to check off
Edit: Root is on ATT variant. took a number of tries doing the whole process to get it to work

Received mine earlier today, and I have already rooted and installed Google services. The first thing you want to do is pick up the developer rom from Mi if it's not already installed. The numerical versions are different, but both are MIUI 6. Follow the recommended procedure. Once that's done, use the mistore and search for SuperSU, and the familiar shield should appear. Install it, and it should ask for root permissions. Allow it, update the binary, and from there you can start the process of getting Google onto the phone. In the interest of saving you time and possibly a headache, this will get you started. Since you'll probably want to take a break after this, leave a comment or any questions you may have and I'll get back to you.

en.miui.com. It's in the downloads section.
Install TWRP, install latest (non-developer!) rom, GApps and root - ~5 minute version:
Thanks to the outstanding work from folks at MIUI forums, TWRP is now available to install via fastboot (fastboot flash recovery _insert .img name here_). Since you'll be able to achieve root without needing the native functionality, you can pick up the latest update from Mi if you like. Ever in the interest of saving you time, you can pick up the GApps package here . It didn't flash via TWRP for me, but I unzipped it and installed everything with no issues via the pre-installed file explorer. At this point, I downloaded the latest SuperSU beta and installed it via TWRP to update the binary from TWRP installation. I'm currently messing with QPST and QXDM settings and will update with any findings to report.
I manage to install Gapps 64 bit and works flawlessly

I had the same problem, what you need to do is go to the security short cut on your home screen then permission then again permission scroll to your sms app and give it permission to send and receive.
Thanks, it worked but I find the default app actually better for dual sim card & selecting quickly which number to use is useful for my work.
I am having trouble getting root. I have downloaded and flashed the developer rom from the Xiaomi site without any issues. I have also gotten all google apps to install and function without any issues, but I can't get SuperSU to update the binaries, it always fails. A rootcheck application confirms that I do not have root access. What am I doing wrong? Do I have to install SuperSU from the recovery menu instead of from inside the android environment? Any help is appreciated. Take care guys.

You do not need to use super su just go to security application > permissions > root access and grant the application that needs root root access.
As the title says...I'm considering doing root in my V2. I just got my replacement note an hour ago. I immediately paused the update because I read somewhere on here that once you update, you won't be able to root. I was looking forward to root till I started thinking about what types of abilities I would actually lose by rooting?
What I can think of from the top of my head is:
1) No Samsung/Android pay
2) Some games won't let you play if you're rooted.
3) Some games won't let you play if you have xPosed installed (such as Marvel Future Fight)
4) Can't do software updates to make my phone faster/fix anything that is wrong (can't I just install the software updates after installing root? Or will that just remove the root?)
5) Voids warranty
Anything else I might lose?
I'm excited for xPosed cause I need me some modules such as snapprefs, and youtube playing in the background. I also like having the ability to change things around the device and such
Is there a way to get around the "xPosed detected" in those types of games by the way?
Luckily for you, the current root does not trip knox
1) Samsung pay will not work, but with right xpose set up Android pay will. The good news is if you ever go back to stock, Samsung pay will work again (knox not tripped)
2) Some games indeed will not work, but with the right xpose app you can fix this by hiding root from it.
3)I did not know that! They getting fancy now...but I can see reason why. I guess no Marvel Future Fight for you if you have xposed than. I know you can hide root from apps, not sure you can hide xposed from apps.
4)You cannot do software update, this is true. The run around for this is to wait for a developer, or even Jovy do a deodex of the new update and you can install that while keeping your old bootloader (for root to work). There is a possible downside to this...samsung is known to make their software run very funny if you are not on the corresponding bootloader. P.S. I never recommend taking a software update while you are rooted (assuming it will even install depending on what you have frozen or block). Just dont risk it.
5) TECHNICALLY your warranty will not be voided with current root method. Knox not tripped = Warranty in place.
As you can see, you are not really loosing much.

I can't install the netflix app from the google play store any more. I'm sure this worked before but after I rooted my phone the device is marked as incompatible. I unrooted it and flashed the stock rom (did not look the boot loader), but still can't install the netflix app. I can’t tell if this was really caused by rooting the phone or something else because I did not checked immediately after rooting my phone.
Is this normal? Was this even caused by rooting the phone? Can I fix the isseue with or without root?
Not sure if this is relevant but I also have issues with the google pay app since I rooted the phone. I Found some instruction to fix that but was not able to test it.

You can download the latest Netflix APK from the apkmirror website. Apparently you need to have a locked bootloader to get it listed back on playstore
I already assumed this but did not try, because this was not a issue on my old phone.
Loading it from apk mirror is fine for me. So I belive I will not check if locking the bootloder will actually fix the issue.

And if you are rooted you have to set magisk hide for netflix app banking etc
