Right steps to relock bootloader - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If I RELOCK my bootloader will regain bionz? And all DRM keys? I also have my TA backup, and backup of stock firmware that my phone came with. I read doomlord's guide for relocking but I don't know if I would encounter a hard brick if I restore my original backup and then I relock my bootloader, how do I restore my TA backup?

Flash a stock ftf or restore your backup from stock (with a stock kernel) then restore your TA partion using the same tool you used to back it up

Hey two last questions.
1. How do I know if my drm keys are back again?
2. A new update popped up in PC companion, 133 firmware version, is there a risk if I update my phone being rooted? Or custom recovery?

You cannot update using pccompanion with an unlocked bootloader.
Just flash a stock FT, restore your TA.
Then if you want to upgrade just use pccompanion and root again.

Restoring TA backup = relocking the booloader
I don't think there is any other way to relock the bootloader, so how would you like to relock it?
Thanks for the reply I was going to use Flashtools to relock it. Cause of the camera issue I thought locking bootloader and restoring TA where completely separate from each other.
Also if you don't mind I'm on 4.3 unlocked with DooMKernel v4 and want to flash stock kernel how do I do that and where do i get. A guide on xda said if I want to relock I had to flash stock kernel.sin using Flashtool I don't know how to do that all I is how to flash a kernel using fastboot which requires me to have the .sin file which I don't know where to get it.

The stock kernel is inside the ftf of the firmware, so just select the firmware in flashtool and on the right hand-side you will see a list of contents of the ftf that you are about to flash (system.sin , userdata.sin, kernel.sin and so on) . Exclude anything that you don't need to flash under the exclude tab.
Just a word of advise, make sure you relock the bootloader on the same version of the firmware that you made the backup on. So if you backup up TA on 4.2.2 relock it on 4.2.2. There seem to be some people that have had issues when they tried to relock on the newer firmware.

[Q] How to go back to Stock official ROM sony xperia z1

I'm on ihackers 2.1 ROM android 4.3
rooted
unlocked bootloader
I wanted to go back to stock to C6902_14.2.A.0.290
I found the method but I'm not sure if this is the right way http://lionking853.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/how-to-go-back-to-stock-firmware-on.html
and if it is the right way, after going back to stock ROM, will my phone unroot and relock again?
Can I just go ahead and do this or must I relock bootloader first?
please help me since I never done this before, only rooted and unlock that I did.

If you have an unlocked bootloader, you will not be able to update using PC Companion. I didnt know all this **** were involved in Sony phones.
I had unlocked my bootloader a couple of days back, didnt know I had to backup my DRM keys and ended up losing my warranty. Now I cant even update my phone using the official updating method.
BTW... the recovery is bundled with the kernel, thats why people refer to it as flashing a kernel instead of recovery. I didnt know this until 2 days back.
Thanks

If you do have a TA backup then you don't have to do anything else then restoring it on a stock rooted firmware..If you don't then use flashtool to relock it..

If I am on a Locked Bootloader and on a rooted custom ROM, will Sony PC Companion detect my phone when the next update comes??
This is stupid. If you are in 4.3 (.290) with un-locked boot loader you cant update via PC companion or SUS.
I ended up going to 534 (4.2) via flashtool. Root it, restore TA backup and then use SUS to update. And flashing the latest 4.3 via Flashtool din work.
No PC Companion or SUS won't detect your phone.. You've to manually flash a valid ftf from Flashtool.. Then you can connect & update your phone through PC Companion or SUS..

[Q] [Help] sony xperia z root

Hi everyone,
I have Sony Xperia Z C6603 with 10.4.1.B.0.101 firmware
I am new to this and I want to do:-
1.Root my device to backup the DRM keys using Backup TA
2.Then, unlock bootloader
3.Install CWM(maybe)
Any help will be appreciated.
You will have to downgrade to root and backup DRM keys.
More info and detailed instructions - How to root 4.3.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
Will I lose my data if I downgrade it?
You will probably have to wipe data when you downgrade, as sometimes the phone bootloops if data isn't wiped. You can try without wiping, but you may end up wiping.
Personal data and the internal SD card are wiped when unlocking the bootloader in any case.

Alright, thanks for the infos.
Wish me luck :good:

well actually you want to unlock bootloader for installing 4.4 ROM /Custom Kernels ?
If you only want to root, you will just need to download the Android 4.2.2 firmware 10.3.1.A.2.67 for C6603,then flash it using flashtool ( make sure you backed up all your apps using built-in Backup & restore app & save it in microSD card)
Next root it using DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit, that's all.
You can choose to install CWM / TWRP / XZDualRecovery
Then you can only download the pre-rooted Android 4.3 ROM
For me i'm using XZDualRecovery with eXistenZUltra ROM
Hope you understand

I followed this two threads
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/stock-update-to-10-4-b-0-569-t2565850

Now I have rooted phone with the latest 4.3 and also XZDualRecovery.
I am happy with the stock rom and kernel now so I skipped unlocking bootloader. Or maybe I will consider eXistenZUltra rom, seems awesome.

[Q] Relocking Bootloader, kernel, updating and more!

So, I'm on Central Europe 1 4.4.2, with doomlord kernel and root. I have a backup of my TA partition before unlocking bootloader.
I want to update to Central Europe 1 4.4.4, using the flashable zip that was posted and the stripped ftf.
Should I flash the stock kernel from FTF 4.4.2, restore my TA partition backup and update? Or update to 4.4.4, and after that restore my TA?
What are the bricking risks? Should I wipe everything? :crying: SO MANY DOUBTS
Why relock?
Just update by flashing the file

If you want to go to totally "out of the box" device and have OTA update info and few other things you just said then yeah...
First flash ftf and stick kernel and then relock bootloader...
If you restore TA and leave custom kernel you could have serious problems...

No, there is no serious problem at all, you just need to flash a stock kernel via flashtool (In a stripped FTF or a full FTF) or via fastboot if you have the kernel.elf
So everything went smooth! Now i'm on 4.4.4 with root and locked bootloader BUT x-reality is not working LMAO. I'll try to install it now.
Edit: yep, it's definitely not working. I relocked bootloader for nothing! haha

Exactly what I said..
You have to flash stock kernel - there are many guys who relock bootloader on custom kernel - xda us full of stories like that..
They have toy now instead of expensive device..
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
No, it's very easy to fix, just flash a stock kernel after relocking the bootloader, it does not brick the phone relocking in a custom kernel, it just gives you a boot loop which is easily fixable
