See what's going on for the Moto G 1st gen and you'll be able to figure out what's coming for the 2nd gen :good:.

[Q] Rom Support

Hey guys. I'm looking into getting the LG G Flex, but seems like there isn't much roms out there. Is that because the phone is still new? Just wanted to know, because I like the features of the phone, but I prefer Paranoid Android or Cyanogenmod over LG's software. Because the G2 has quite a few roms out there, including PA.
And for those who have the G Flex, how do you like it? Any downsides to having one? Thanks!
The phone has been out in the US for less than a week. Give it time.
There is a lot of feedback about the phone in the General forum.

Oh sorry I did not know. I thought that it was released back in November 2013. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, give it a lil time. I suspect it won't take long. I imagine we'll see alot of G2 Roms come over. Flex is basically the same. Ran/running CM11 on my G2 for several months, n love it...
I have G2 to as well and running Cloudy Flex Rom on it now. I'm getting a Flex. Most KitKat Roms for the 801 G2 have a echo bug which is annoying. Hope that stays away from the Flex. I like to run stock for a bit just to make sure I like the phone.

Yes dude @thejoshiewawalee give devs time for proper code to even be released i plan on making roms for the device once proper source codes are released. its top of the line and i gamed on it for hours on weekend lasted all day. I personally like stock thanks to lgs custom ui and im using nova launcher. but when source code is released prepare for the "Big Rom Bang". >.-

Its like this for most new phones, dude. Developers and compilers like me need to wait for source code to be released before we can start making roms. We just got root for the ATT LG G Flex but I dont think we even have a recovery yet, haha. As said look forward to good roms coming to Flex when source code is released.
how is LG when it comes to releasing source?
On my HTC one max, which has been out since October, they still have not released it, so there is only one stock based/tweaked rom...
I too like to keep my new device stock for awhile, to learn about it, and make sure I like it. I'm getting a T-mo Flex Thursday or Friday, so I look forward to helping out and learning more about LG smart phones. I havent had an Lg phone in about 15- 20 years, but I remember really liking their flip phones back when the Moto Star Tac was all the rage..

Will there be a big flash community for this phone?

So I'm choosing between Moto G first gen and second gen phone. I like the second gen more, but I now see that they are almost no roms at all for this phone to flash? So I wonder, is there some limiting factor, or will we get tons of roms after this phone has been out for a while? Beacuse I mean the first Moto G seems to have a big support on this matter but not this phone, not yet anyway?
I'm pretty sure it will, phone is pretty new, and when I say pretty it means even not a month has passed
I think you are right, it's quite new. Just wanted to know so that the bootloader or something isn't locked so it's impossible to flash things

it will have devs working on them, the bootloader is unlocked and the phone is pretty popular im sure the forum will have alot of activity
I've seen a Paranoid Android port for the first Moto G that required dual SIM users to flash a GPE firmware before installation...
Since I am not seeing a single SIM model by now, do you guys think some kind of fix will be available to use the Paranoid Android port? Is it possible?
There is not a single thread on original development
I am really worried if there will be good development community, right now there is not a single thread for original development.

This. After 1-2 months have passed and Motorola releases kernel sources, we will be able to get Original Rom Development like CM and Paranoid. I'm looking forward to how things will turn out.

ANDROID L aosp

Hey any devs out there will skills ,resources and the time PLEAAASE PLEAAAASE make an AOSP build for the Moto X.... I know Motorola will be quick with their updates but i just cant wait!!! I am just refreshing the Development sections of the Forum every hour hoping for a ROM build....
I believe devs would have to make a whole new kernel since L was not released for the moto x yet. Not sure if someone will do that before it is officially released for us.
I just want it! Caaant wait! i really hope some dev is already working his ass off to bring us some Lollipop!

Without kernel and binaries = No deal. It was already tried with KitKat, I tried with the AOSP sources but without a Kernel developer dedicating it's precious time and the binaries/drivers, just give up on your dream.

Its definitely NOT impossible!!! When other devices like S3 mini,s3,Xperia Z can run without the binaries.... Why cant the Moto X? People have just given up on this phone!
I mean till now we were in the spotlight, but after Moto X 2014 we have been pushed back... We always have run the latest versions of Android till date n have never faced the need for porting n stuff... but i guess this will change when Motorola stops supporting us, then OSs would be ported withot Binaries!

They worked on other devices because they have common parts inside of them. Commom snapdragon chips, when the Moto X has the "powerful futureproof Moto X8 Mobile Computing System", it still a snapdragon, yeah, but heavily modified. As I said, until we see sources we won't get it. Why? The work to make a KitKat kernel (specially the Moto X one) work on Lollipop isn't worth the effort. Unless you pay someone for it...

As far as I understand the modification to the processor is not to the Main processor itself but its just the addition of further coprocessors... I doubt if Qualcomm would keep quiet if Motorola messed with their processor and called it their own! Aaand.. Even with the sources we are not allowed to use the coprocessors right? So they are pretty much useless! I STILL don't think its THAT HARD! yeah it might be hard... But others have done it... People here just don't try as much I suppose!

It's not worth porting over just so 50 people can have Lollipop on their Moto X 2013 when it's going to come within the next month anyway.'
Those other devices will probably either never get Lollipop or well get them much later.

I agree... Anyways... Already OmniROM seems to have started merging Lollipop...
I don't think it will be long b4 other pitch in too!

Why there is so little roms?

I wanna buy Moto G 2nd but there is so little roms. There will be more? Somebody will make group of developers? I wanna phone with roms ;(
Because the device is just 4 months old.
Give it time, the Cyanogenmod build sounds like it's progressing nicely, and once that reaches a good point there's usually a flood of other roms.
Who needs roms as long as Motorola still supporting lollipop until this moment

[Q] Is dual-boot possible?

As everyone knows, if we use a custom ROM on this phone, we lose "Moto" functionalities, so, if we had dual-boot capabilities, we can test/use custom roms without headache of getting stock back to use some features, or, we can have the best of the two worlds in a very easier way! I don't have knowledge to do this nor root in my phone, but I think it would be awesome to everyone in here. So, is dual-boot or multi-boot possible on this phone?
Thanks!

I think that MultiROM will help a lot, for example, I would not install any custom rom for now, because I'll loose the Moto functionalities, but with MultiROM I could keep them and switch at anytime!

Yep, that's the idea. You don't have to sell it to me, I use it and love it on my Nexus 5. I doubt we'll ever see it for the X though.

The same reason why some ROMs are available for certain phones and not others. Somebody has to develop it for each phone model, and they just haven't done it for the X.

oh clearly, I just thought that since you said you doubt we'll ever see it it meant it was incapable or something.
