Hey guys! I just switched yesterday from bell to Fido in an attempt to attain data for cheaper. At first I couldn't connect to data and I had to manually install the APNs for Fido internet but now randomly I'll just have no signal for 30ish seconds. It comes back and is 4 bars like before. I'm on the same phone as on bell. Xperia Z1 c6906 and I unlocked it off of bell and switched to Fido. Let me know if you guys have any ideas. Also I know its not the area I'm in because it worked fine before enabling data.
Thanks
When that happens what simbol does phone gives next to signal bar. (e,h,3G,4G)

No signal whatsoever ever. Empty data bars and a red x
I think Fido and Bell are using different network band and they selling their own locked device. Try to check your device to see if the device is support that carrier band. If yesy then maybe it's something wrong in your phone. Try to reflash full FTF to see if it software problem...
I'm not sure what FTF means but I'm going to read root it this morning so I can actually access recovery. I checked my APN and it still just drops the signal every 15 mins or so and comes back like 15 seconds later..
Also is there any option to flash a radio like with Samsung?

So I've had this phone for almost a week now and I used to he able to get 4g LTE. But ever since I rooted it, I no longer get more than 3g. I now have bananacakes Holiraider 1.6 but I still don't get any higher than 3g. So my question is how do I get 4g and 4g lte. Oh and if anyone is using that custom Rom, is it possible to get faster than 1512? In his thread it shows you can clock it to 1566. Thanks a bunch I'm kinda new to this!
try dialing *#*#4636#*#* and see what your modem is set to, it should be GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto
you also may have an APN issue, verifiy that your APN is correct, perhaps contact your carrier for the correct APN settings for you phone and plan.
Well I'm now running a custom ROM. The apn is the same as other users and it does say the above. And yes I am in a 4G LTE area
Sent from my HTC Raider X710e using XDA App
Try doing the above and change to LTE only.
Then once you have 4G change it back. It should stay on 4G. I had to do this to get 4G on official rom.
Ok I just tried that but it wouldn't let me to switch it to LTE only. When I did, it switched it back to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto. I'm just gonna relock my phone and set it back to the original stock rom and format my phone (yes I have the apps and stuff backed up). Because my actual mobile connection fluctuates on and off as well
the phone should be locked into the GSM/WCDMA/LTE setting. If you try to change it from that setting it just returns back. The phone will get instructions from the carrier's base station to tell it whether to be on LTE or just 4G/3G. Using *#*#4636#*#* under phone information, what is listed as the Network type?

It is locked in GSM/WCDM/LTE auto.
above that option it should tell you the network type. it is about half way between the "run ping test" button and the "Set Preferred Network type" option. Need to know what it says there.
Oh ok I see what you mean, it says HSDPA
make sure that you are in a active LTE area. toggle the radio off and on. the network type should change to LTE if it is available. remember that if you make a phone call your phone will drop back to just 4g/3g and it might take a second for it to switch back to LTE.
I live in Los Angeles so I'm like in the center of the LTE center in Southern California. But for some reason my phone won't get anything higher than 3G, and my actual cellphone reception toggles on and off randomly too.
It worked before. For the first 3 days atleast. And now all of the sudden it wouldn't work, so I rooted it and installed a custom ROM
Try one of WildChilds custom ROMS. LTE works on both and they're tailored to US users.

if the problem arised before you rooted and rom'd the phone I doubt the rom is the problem. there is always the chance that you have a bad radio.

That's what I'm thinking... What would I do about this?
i would verify your sim with another 4gLTE phone and vice versa.
Hrm... So it could be a Sim card problem eh? Unfortunately there are no other LTE devices for me to get a hold of... Would this be the only way?
it could be. i hope you have pulled battery/sim and then rebooted already. you can verify your phone with a known good sim and verify your sim with a known good phone. I would try your local at&t store. they might be able to help.

I have done it many times . Yeah I'm actually going to head over to the at&t store in a few minutes, I'll keep you posted. Thank you so much for your help! rft3ch!
I will be replacing my phone. I replaced the sim card and that wasn't the problem . The rep said that someone else came in with the same problem as well.
Hi all,
I have bought a Htc One M7 handset recently and I have noticed time to time there are No Signals (Limited Service) on it. When I switch off/ switch on or if I turn on the Airplane mode and turn off again, the signals will restore. This is happening around 2 times per day and really annoying. Need to know whether this is a known issue for the model.. I still didn't change the SIM and check. Please help!!!!!
Thanks alot!

I have the same thing
To add some detail for diagnostics see below:
- I travel into London every day and sometimes when signal drops in the tunnels it will never pick back up again after leaving them whereas my old One X did not have this on the same journeys.
- It even dropped out mid call and came up with the sim card icon at the notification bar as if no card inserted (but no selectable notification) first time its happened to this extent.
- Do you have a 4G SIM/connection or are you on 3G like myself? I'm thinking perhaps its something to do with trying to pick up 4G instead and completely disregarding the 3G connection that is available.
- I have also noticed that ever since getting the handset its never had as good signal as my One X which was pretty much always full signal in my normal areas (home, work etc) This may just be the way the handset gauges the signal not the signal itself but something to note anyway.
I'm having the same issue here in the US. It's prolly my only complaint with my phone.

I'm also having this issue but more sever with an all-day no signal. After reboot, I gain signal and I can't make and receive calls.
Try to turn 4G off.

How does one do that? Having the same problem, both wifi AND mobile network drop off. Wifi comes back on its own after a few seconds, the mobile data connection often comes back (obviously if not on wifi away from home), but the mobile network stays as no signal and doesn't come back, unless I reboot or cycle aeroplane mode. I know there's some problems with touching antenna, but this is happening a lot in the car, when the phone is powered and sitting in a cradle.

To turn off 4G you go to Settings -> Mobile data -> Network mode and then select "3G / 2G"
don't know if it'll help though, but trying is worthwhile

Thanks. The problems seems to have gone with that change. Perhaps it is some system thing kicking me off the network because I don't have 4G on my contract and my phone was trying to get it.
Now, if you can just tell me why my lovely 3-4 bar indoors signal on EE has dropped to 0-1 outdoors (as they deny there is a problem)

Are you sure it's not just cosmetic? Try going into Settings->About->Network and see if the signal (dBm) is dropping.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I have it constantly on att - I have to turn on airplane mode and turn it back off to get my network back, I have tried different roms and updates and still the issue is across all roms.
Maybe try this: in your dialer type *#*#4636#*#*. Once the menu is opened, select Phone information, then scroll down to Set preffered network type and choose one of the options (im from Serbia, europe, and I usualy go with GSM auto (PRL)).
Issue with 3g only
Whenever I keep it on 3G, it drops signals for 2 to 7 seconds at random intervals. People often complain that when they call, they get a message that my phone is switched off.. I am probably gonna try another ROM and SIM to see if that helps before dumping this phone forever.
how to solve limited service or loosing service on htc one m7
Hello
it seems to be a hardware fault where the radio is not staying on higher band
it seems to be having issues on 2100 and all umts and hspda or lte networks
however switching back to 2 g can resolve this issue and phone ( hope so) will never lose signals or drop then again
i tried this and for me this works fine so far over 12 hours now no issue
give it a try and see this should work
setting>data>network>2g only
by this you wont have option to use fast internet though but at least you can phone can be used for voice calls messaging etc and also wifi too
I was on stock lolli pop and tried to flash cm12.1 but does not help sort the limited service issue
enjoy and leave your feedback
Edit:
some people cant find 2g in settins>mobile network>preferred network type> lte or 3g only, the solution is go to *#*#4636#*#* phone info>set preferred network type>gsm only( this will put your device into 2g mode)
hope this work
Hi all,
Got an SP (C5303) the other day which was sold to me as an EE phone although when I checked it's unlocked so now not so sure where it came from as there is no branding on the phone.
Bacicaly I'm on Orange in the UK and I'm having trouble with realy slow data, the phone is basicaly stuck on GSM, I only ever see 'G' on the signal indicator. I know there is 3G avalable as my previous Xperia U could get 3G.
I have seem 'E' once on the siganl but the moment I tryed to do anything with the phone it dropped to 'G' again.
I have got the phone set to 'WCDMA prefered' and have had the APN sent to me by Orange.
Does anyone know how I can get it to connect to 3G?
Regards.
Force it in network settings
Gesendet von meinem Xperia SP
Thanks for the response.
How do I force it in network settings?
I assume he means go to settings/wireless and networks/mobile networks
Then for network mode select WCDMA only
I'mm on EE's LTE service and I guess they have some kind of 'load management' which dumps you on the next category down if your preferred data connection has a poor signal or is being used heavily by others.
Similarly you may want to check out that your network operator is EE 3G - not 2g.
I have tried setting it to WCDMA only and just get a red cross and no signal bars.
Even as far as changing it in the *#8#4636#*#* menu.
I have tried flashing a UK generic firmware and still get the same results.
Tried a '3' sim and could get no signal again.
I have even gone as far as checking if the IMEI has been blacklisted, it's not fortunately!!
The only thing I can assume at the moment is that the radio is messed up some how but thought flashing different firmware would have resolved this?
Going to try flashing a Orange UK firmware to see if there is some little tweak in there from Orange to make it all work!!
At the moment I feel like I'm running in circles and banging my head on a brick wall all at the same time!!
Any ideas of something I may have missed would be great!!
Thanks all for the help so far!!
Oh just thought in the network operators there were no 3G options of any operator.
One thing Orange did mention when I spoke the the was that the MNC in the APN should be 30 but the default comes up as 33 and I if I change it to anything other than 33 the APN vanishes!!
Sounds like a hardware issue, especially if you’ve tried another sim and that couldn’t get data either. The quickest way to confirm is to see whether the EE sim can download data on another phone.
I put my sim back in my xperia U and it went straight to 3G then H so the sim seems fine!!
Looks like I bought a lemon!!
Looks like I will be contacting the seller for a refund, shame I really liked the phone!!

Just thought I would let you all know the outcome of this one!!
I have had it looked at by a local trusted phone repair shop and in his opinion the phone had suffered water damage.
His reasoning was the security seal was missing and the moisture indicator was wonky.
Don't know where the security seal should have been or what it looks like, but the moisture indicator was wonky (once I was shown where to look) as apparently in the factory they are stuck on by machine and are always dead straight.
But the good news was I tested eBays money back guarantee and I got a full refund including postage once I sent the phone back.
Thanks to all that tried to help me trouble shoot this issue!!
Good to know eBay stick to there refund policy.

Hi all,
Recently acquired one of these phones that was originally network locked to WIND Mobile in Canada.
Successfully got it unlocked and connected to the FIDO network, however data has not been working. Copied the APN settings over from the previous FIDO phone (the same as the APN settings listed on FIDO website for unlocked phones) and I am getting no data connection.
Any suggestions?
Update: I tried the LTE APN and now I am getting 2G network connection only. But it is slow as ballllls
Anyone else notice that this phone has a really long lag time for connecting to any networks? When I turn it on it says emergency calls only for up to 5 minutes each time until it connects to the network.
I am using a Fido locked optimus 2X and have no connection problems like you describe. My device connects to the network within seconds of booting up. As for the data problems, all I can suggest is to try to return to the sim's stock APN, by pressing the menu button and 'restore default apn' in the apn portion of the settings. If not, it may be a problem with the rom, and you could try flashing another rom.

For the last weeks.. I have been trying to get this phone working with T-Mobile..I had unlock the sim card and now running badboyz 4.3 rom. 1.3
After unlocking the sim card and setting up the apn, selected T-Mobile from the available networks and it will connect. But when I go to work, I will lose signal every few block, and need to search for available network again and wait to select t mobile again.
I had try to use the t mobile sim card on my old phone and everything will works fine with no signal lost.
Can anyone please HELP!... I been searching and looking for an answer for more than 2 weeks..but no resolve.....

This is probably because T-mob covers only particular places the frequencies this phone uses http://theunlockr.com/2013/07/05/htc-one-sprint-specs/ vs t-mob https://t-mobile.jive-mobile.com/#jive-document?content=/api/core/v2/documents/4988

Is there any solution for this problem ?
Is there anything I can do to fix this problem ? (different rom or radio...etc..) Or I have to give up the phone... Cause it is too much headache to "searching for network" all the time and miss all the call with no service on the phone without knowing..
Thanks

well, I am not an expert on the tmobiles network, but going by what lazybozz, said, I seem to remember tmobile using different bands than the other carriers, so what you may be experiencing, is the phone being in the vicinity of multiple towers, but not all of them are within the band that the phone supports. So its like the phone doesnt even see those towers. On a side note, this issue caused alot of chaos for those who unlocked iphones about 3 years ago, they could use EDGE on tmobiles network but not 3G, so i assume this is a similar situation. So long story short, yeah you probably cant fix the problem, unless you get a quad band phone. I could be wrong, but it does sound like a logical reason for the issue you are having.
as elvisypi said above, Its the freq that T-mobile operates on in that area. If your getting T-mobile at all in the states then you have already flashed a radio. However flashing any other radio is not going to give you the freq that tmobile uses, Its not a software limitation its a physical hardware limitation.
Thanks for your reply, do you know any app out there that monitor and alarm you when the network or signal is lost ? That works with 4.3 ?That way at least you know the phone is offline ... some of the apps I tried is anything at all ...
Thanks
Have you tried an app like tasker? Its essentially an automation app. It isnt jist for your use. Its for many different functions. Jist look on the app store for tasker. That might help
