Please excuse the noob here.
I have my LG L90.
I plan to root my phone using the root guide here on XDA.
However being a noob I'm afraid to root.
The main reason for that being I hear dual sim phones do not have good custom roms like CM11 or their upcoming androidL rom.
For example they have only ROMs for D415 here at XDA and that too has missing stuff like front camera !!
A friends phone got bricked and I'm pretty scared to put a single SIM rom of D415 into my D410. What will happen then?
Will my device get bricked or be very buggy because it is a dual sim?
Plz help

As far as I know (D405n here) these roms are universal. I use cm11 built for 410 (which has not got NFC) and the bug is I don't have front camera working (410 users have) and also no NFC. If you're going to use rom for single sim, your dual sim support will most likely not work, other than that might be little differences. But of course get sure you can use 415 rom for 410

The NFC not working IMHO is understood, but Isn't something like the front camera not working a major issue?
Where do you get a good ROM for D410? The rom I saw didnt have front camera support even for D410.
(I understood CM group doesnt release rom for each phone)

I am pretty sure front camera is working for 410 in quarx's cm11. I think he mentioned it does work in 410, but it doesn't in other versions since he doesn't own them. But then again, find yourself (it should be written somewhere on the few last pages in the rom thread)
It bugs me how hard it is for a phone to have a stable ROM.
Well maybe its really hard, coding these.
Ok I definetly will find out.
Thank you.

The L90 has only been on the market for 5 or 6 months. We've had custom ROMs for at least the past 3 months. There are only a small group, 4 people, working on ROMs for this device. We all have lives away from XDA too. I've literally dumped every free minute, and then some, in to developing my ROM for the D415.
As you stated, CM doesn't and cannot support every device out there. Myself, I technically don't have the free time to support ROM building but somehow I'm managing. The only way CM will support this device is for someone to be appointed a maintainer, by CM, for this device.
I can't see how the VGA front camera is more important than the rear main camera but that's just me. Also the D415 models, and any L90 variant with out 'n' in the model name, does not have NFC. So "LG-D4**n" is a NFC enabled device. "LG-D4**hn" is a dual-sim NFC enabled device.
Quarx is building ROMs for dual sim devices, I'm building for single sim devices.

Totally understand.
L90 isn't even popular, with a rating 0.8 compared to 7.0 of LG G2.
CM won't appoint a maintainer.
Should have bought a flagship device
I really appreciate the work you guys are doing.
Imagine what will happen when android L is out? People will start demanding the ROM almost instantly. Demand will always be higher.
Tough times.

Part of the problem is in what you just said right there the demand is out there but nobody wants to take the time to do it themselves.
Each device no matter if its a flagship or a non flagship device has many different variants each variant has its own quirks and its own needs the four people we currently have working on our devices are doing it in their own free time this is not what they do for a living everything they do for us is awesome everything everything fix yes there are bugs there are bugs in the stock rom on a phone so don't ever expect anything to be perfect for the cameras in camera I can understand the front facing camera why do you really need it? Do you need it desperately Skype somebody?
@shinobisoft does this means your rom is compatible with the d405n?

It can be. But when I release the next update, since the D415 doesn't have NFC or a FM reciever, NFC will be disabled and FM Radio.apk won't exist either. In order for me to support other devices, I must also build a kernel for them.
Let me work the bugs out of CM11 for the D415, then I'll look in to building ROMs for the other single sim variants.

So I'm choosing between Moto G first gen and second gen phone. I like the second gen more, but I now see that they are almost no roms at all for this phone to flash? So I wonder, is there some limiting factor, or will we get tons of roms after this phone has been out for a while? Beacuse I mean the first Moto G seems to have a big support on this matter but not this phone, not yet anyway?
I'm pretty sure it will, phone is pretty new, and when I say pretty it means even not a month has passed
I think you are right, it's quite new. Just wanted to know so that the bootloader or something isn't locked so it's impossible to flash things

I've seen a Paranoid Android port for the first Moto G that required dual SIM users to flash a GPE firmware before installation...
Since I am not seeing a single SIM model by now, do you guys think some kind of fix will be available to use the Paranoid Android port? Is it possible?
There is not a single thread on original development
I am really worried if there will be good development community, right now there is not a single thread for original development.

This. After 1-2 months have passed and Motorola releases kernel sources, we will be able to get Original Rom Development like CM and Paranoid. I'm looking forward to how things will turn out.

I used this to debloat with no issues http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/wip-debloat-lp-690-correct-functioning-t3076161. And there is only one rom as you see in the development section. And I don't believe he has been on in a while
This is a problem. I like the look of the z3+ but without dev support I cannot bring myself to buy one.

To be honest im happy enough with working recovery and having xposed. But development support would be great.
I've just seen that all the sources are there, including Marshmallow:
http://developer.sonymobile.com/201...a-devices-added-to-sonys-open-device-project/
I'm almost tempted to get the device to see if I can do it myself.

You have my support!
What is stopping it working? Lack of Sony giving people the tools for daily driver. Or this phone is slowly dying, in which means why not just let devs go.
Hi people.
As many of yours seen some months ago, MIUI got ported to our device. Sadly, RIL and other minor bugs made the ROM unusable for XT1068 and XT1069 users (XT1064 managed to get RIL working); It's a reliable fact that we have almost every custom rom successful-y ported to Titan. But what if MIUI gets another chance? I mean, if some "front devs" unite and start working on it, I betcha it would be a sucess. If the issue is money, I think some donations might worth it.
Now I ask you all: What do you think about that idea?
(also, I STILL maintain The HotROM Box. I'm bloated on University right now, but I'll update it do MM ASAP.)
I think a great idea, but it is one thing missing, the devs care about this port to the titan kk
The thread is closed now but the OP claimed he ported MIUI.

HI everyone,
Is there any definite information available regarding whether the Moto G2 would get the Android N? Thanks for sharing any information about this.
I pray for stock 6.0.1 and security update
support lenovo says that the last tests but when asked which country he could not say
lying, but I hope I'm wrong
forget about stock N..
only custom..
I'll wait a few more weeks as nothing appears I install custom 5.1.1 or RR 5.7.3 based on M.
but on all 6 rom touch issuse is there from what I read
Android N will not be coming to our beloved Moto G2. It will come by CM or other custom rom.
I very doubt it. Titan didn't even got stock 6.0.1 yet. Perhaps CM could bring it, who knows.
Thanks for the replies everyone. Really appreciate it!
Oh well, I am kinda used to the Moto G2 as my second phone. It was quite cheap and is still quite fast and problem-free. So, I was curious (and hopeful) about whether there was any chance of it getting the upcoming Android.
Thanks again! :good:
I am waiting for android N ...lets hope we get it soon
Well, if Lenovo fixed the touch issues, it would make things easier. Anyways, one of CM13's devs for Titan said that it would be hard because stuff changed the camera and without proper source code, it would be hard to make it work. One can only hope.
I just had a chat with Motorola Customer Support. They said that they do not have any information right now as to which all phones will get Android N and by when would they get it.
No stock naugat.
I'm a moto g 2014 owner and i got the official 6.0 patch on my device, though i was a part of a soak test but i'm pretty sure it was released right after the soak ended back in February. chances of Android N on moto g 2nd gen are slim but it could happen.
any chance of custom n rom

Why? The custom ROM's currently available are awesome and provide all that I need for now. If getting the latest version of Android becomes that important to me then I will upgrade my phone to one that supports it. But that's me.

Seems like you don't experience the touch issues which are plaguing the MM ROMs for this device then. And I agree, I don't see a hurry for Nougat for me right now, Marshmallow would be good enough. And I would prefer to see this phone die on MM with a fixed touch drivers (pls Lenovo), rather than going to NG with lots of things broken, according to the devs.

No I don't have any touch issues. But my post may have been prophetic. Yesterday, my mobile data stopped working for no apparent reason. All of the usual suspects are properly set and on still, so it is definitely a hardware issue. I have no data unless I am connected through a WIFI AP. Really sucks since I cannot access the WIFI at my job with personal devices. And the company laptop is so restricted I can't really get any personal business done on my break times.
Bottom line - I ordered a Moto G 4th gen yesterday evening. Hopefully it will serve me as well as did the 2nd gen. I really gave it a thorough run for the two years I had it. We'll see how it compares.
Touch issues happen only if you have glass protecting screen on some ROMs but if you have i recommend cm13 and if you need more personalization put xposed and thats all

Just saying, the Z1 did have one, what's the delay on the Z2 and Z2pro?
I think is not get official support. I don't know why, because this phone have awesome good spec.
Yeah I honestly expected this phone to become a scene favorite and instead it barely gets any support
That's my only criticism about this phone, that it has no official CyanogenMod support. All my previous phones (Moto G, OnePlus One and LG G4) came with official CM support, but the ZUK Z2 doesn't not. I thought it would be okay by relying on community builds instead, but updates are few and far between with these builds. There seems to be some development for the Z2 ongoing over at the Lenovo Mobile forums, but it is all in Chinese and Google Translate does not do much to make it more legible.

Its really weird, it has a 820 and pretty good specs, I don't get why its so difficult to get a good reliable aosp ROM for it
First to answer your original question. Because zuk had a contract with CM so z1 had Cyanogen OS and thus the open source CyanogenMod was a bonus so to say. Also we do have official CM in the face of MoKee. With some neat added features aswell. Just hoping they continue supporting the device with Nougat aswell
P.S. I have read in some post that MoKee has lots of chinese bloatware which aside from the Pinyin input seems to be incorrect.

Zui.is also based at least to some. degree on Cyanogen mod. E.g. they are using the cm theme engine, they have only hidden the launch icon. Idk what else is from cm since I removed Zui after one hour.
The incredible lack of support in the form of Roms and accessories are stopping me from buy this phone. The specs and 4G band support are perfect for me, but i dont what to stuck with a phone who even Zuk does not care..
