Are you on Verizon? Are you in a strong signal area? I'm in a weak signal area that's why I noticed the difference. Thanks

Yes, I'm on Verizon. I would characterize signal strength as "moderate", i.e. two to three bars on LTE.

I would consider that good compared to mine. Since 4.4.4 I just doesn't seem to grab 4G as well and hold on to it. I can go from 4G to 3G to 1X to no service In walking distance. I know these aren't normal conditions but the phone worked a whole lot better before 4.4.4. I don't want to get the new X and have the same problem. I guess I'll just have to try it and if it doesn't work return it. Its worth the $35 to find out.

The handoff appears to be seamless. I was in an area what had spotty 4G coverage and it bounced back and forth without any interruption to what I was doing.

I just got the phone a while ago and u wonder, does it support the WiMax bands? Because I do get 4G occasionally but a speedtest shows it to be incredibly slow.
If possible could anyone on Sprint screenshot when they know they're on LTE and show me?
Thank you!

No you don't get a Wimax signal. The HTC's radio is not capable of this. As far as I know, neither is any other LTE phone. But you don't have much to lose. Sprint is expected to shut down its WiMax by 2015 (or something) and I've read it wasn't much good either. Sprint is just starting to roll out its LTE. I'm supposed to get it in August. I'm waiting. It should be worth it.

Any idea why I'm getting extremely slow speeds then?
At home I get blazing speed on LTE.. At work (4 min away) I get 3g but when I walk around the building I can sometimes connect to LTE but its very very slow.

Do you have any speed test results?
I have a great signal near a friends house and my upload is around 10 and my download barely increases.

You might be in an area where 4G isn't fully implemented and just experimental. I work in NY and they never officially announced that they deployed LTE here. I do connect to 4G LTE outside my office but speed tests only show like 1.5 - 2 mb at best, even with full bars.

Basically how it rolls. There's a few towers in my area that are sporadically transmitting LTE, but if you try to use actual data it'll kick you down to 3G (which would likely contribute to your low speeds).
Yeah this is my current situation as well. I might get a 4G signal, but it's like 1 maybe 1.5 down. Most of the time I'm on crappy 3G, with speeds of 0.1 mbps.
Sprint rep said August.... I can only hope.

It's not just sprint. HTC phones report signal this way. Cyanogenmod reports signal differently, and other manufactures report signal differently also.
but it's ok to eat fish cause they don't have feelings.....
Given that there's no standard for "bars" with data signals, that's fine with me. I'd like a statusbar widget though that reported that kind of info.
If you want a standard, use the "text" setting. It displays the signal strength in dBm
Hi
I'm planning to get the Z3C soon and have a few questions that I'm hoping some users with the device using tmobile could help me out with.
1. Does the SMH (wifi tethering) work on the phone? My current phone doesn't support it for some reason, and they say it's because my phone is unlocked and not from tmobile. It has the option, but just never starts.
2. How is the LTE speed? Faster/slower than what you had before? Or about the same.
3. How is the reception on the phone? I read about how the phone is displaying less bars even though the signal strength is good so I'm not worried about that.
4. Does wifi-calling work? I assuming not cause it's not from Tmobile, but I thought I would ask anyways since no one addressed it yet.
That's all I could think of that isn't already answered in one of the other threads.

No, WiFi calling will not work on any non T-Mobile branded phones. The WiFi Calling aspect is baked into t-mobiles ROMs. Non one has been able to get this to work, on any phone that is not T-Mobile branded, AFAIK. However, Hangouts and SIP calling works quite well.
Since the Z3 (non-compact) appears to be headed to TMO, will that ROM be able to be loaded onto the Z3 Compact to enable Wi-Fi calling? (I am assuming that the Z3 will be able to use Wi-Fi calling, since I think all smart phones sold by TMO now support it)
Still keeping my fingers crossed that the C is available from TMO also!

Possible ... but, I have no idea. It seems plausible ... but there are differences between the Z3 and Z3C that may not make it possible. Keep your fingers crossed, as I would like that as well.

Yes, as soon as I make a phone call my GPS stopped tracking my progress. When I hang up, tracking resumes.
I have not noticed this with the OG X. I do use GPS and have calls at times.
I wont get my new 2014 X till the 29th
Voice calls and data connection currently don't work together. There's an update planned for "this fall" that will fix it.

Update - it seems like the GPS is still tracking, but my nav app begins searching for the data network to provide additional info (traffic, accidents, etc.).
So, not as big a deal as I thought, but still annoying and seems like a step back from my RAZR M.
not an issue on ATT.

I didn't have the same behavior on my RAZR M that I have with the Moto X. On the X, my navigation app, Waze, begins searching for a connection (though the GPS tracking continues). In addition, a box pops up to warn about the lack of data.
Verizon's CMDA/LTE can't do voice and data at the same time (with the exception of the Rezound and the Thunderbolt), it's a problem with CDMA. GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile have no problem with this.

Uh, what? Simultaneous voice and data has been a staple on nearly every VZW LTE phone SINCE the Thunderbolt, not just two phones.

I haven't had a Verizon phone since the galaxy nexus or Rezound came out so excuse me. I hoped over to t-mobile.
I was just wondering if its just me or our some of the devices having spoty data coverage
Me personally my data drops to H+ and H a lot my wife has a note 3 and runs solid LTE all day
But for the life of my I can't get a stable connection in our home... Any fix or work around?
Thanks in advance.
Also I have set it to LTE and changed the APN settings.

I've noticed since upgrading to 5.1 on t-mobile that my LTE speeds are horrible I'm getting 3-5mbps here in northern Virginia. I had been getting upwards of 15-20 mpbs I checked my apn settings and everything seems to be what it should be.. Anyone else having issues?

from what I have read, you can flash the new 47E radio and LTE speeds will go back to where they were. Or flash the 5.0.1 radio.

Mobile/cell reception is might even be better on the Moto X.. However for wifi reception it doesn't like to maintain a connection as well as the Nexus 4 when it's equally far from the wifi router. The Nexus 4 is on 5.1.1 so I don't know if it's software or hardware issue.
