[Q] SlimKat 4.4.4 Final and some problems! [Need Your Help] - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI GUYS
I have install SlimKat 4.4.4 Final but I have some problem with it..
1- I have install a font (apk file) but i can't select it from setting! Why?!
How can I use my font? I could do it in HarshJelly ROM...
2- I can't restore my backup (I use Go BackUp) from extSd card! And I have to copy them to phone memory first, because the ROM deny GoBackup access! How can I pass this bad limitation ?!
3- if I use other backup app, like Titanium backup, can this problem be solved???
4- I like to use JB notification bar instead of SlimKat 4.4.4 Final notification bar.
Any zip file to flash ??!!
Thank you SO much :good:

THX!!!!! :good:

1. Have no idea, maybe it is not working on SlimKat, it should be Slim - so it might not have all features.
2. Have no idea.
3. I think you can't. You can't flash JB stuff on 4.4.4 based. And I think nobody created such thing.

MyRootBackup is what you are looking for. Save apps as apk's(Android Package) which will allow you to restore and install your apps.
If its a custom rom you can add apps to the data file within the rom rezip and sign it .
Custom rom unzip opens to folders DATA folder put apps in and use the signing rom script to rezip and sign then install as normal .
I prefer to save the APK to SD card and install from that .
jje
titanium backup does that
yeah i finally paid for the pro version woohoo lol i was just rrying to find an alternative method, but being a flash-aholic its well worth it, for the 0 click restore, my thumbs ache after installing 100+ apps manually lol. thanks for all your comments

[Q] Working method for restoring Call logs/SMS to ICS?

I know there are a lot of apps for back up/restoring, but does anyone know any working for ICS? I have tried AppExtractor with ROM Manager, didn't work. The Message-app started to behave strange. Tried SMS Backup & Restore, was able to restore the sms but couldn't not open them.
I'm currently using NovaHD's ICS Rom.
You can restore your messages from /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db and mmssms.db-journal in your nandroid backup (just extract and replace)
And your calls from /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/database/contacts2.db and contacts2.db-journal
(Extract and replace)
Nandroid = CWM?
So, basically your saying that i should extract my backup and the rom, then find these folders extract the backup one to the rom and then zip it again?
Two options
#1 Restore your backup, copy the files to a temp folder on sdcard, flash your new rom and replace them
#2 Extract them from your backup and then replace them
It might be other solutions aswell but these are simple
Nandroid = CWM

just a small mention....file types from CM7 or Cm 9 are not the same with other GB formats....so are not comaptible....be careful with that.
HerrKuk, i'm kind of new to rooting but i need android sdk to do this?!
Sreeprajay, i'm goding from stock rom to custom, should work right?!

Nope, just root and and root explorer (or similar)
You dont even need a computer
Or use nandroid browser from the market : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.goddchen.android.nandroidbrowser

from the stock to custom, it will be prefect...just make sure once you are rooted, backup your msgs and call logs by either apps or by backing the ROM totally....
Hope it helps
So, i installed root explorer, copied mmssms.db(no journal-file), flashed owain's rom, installed root explorer, replaced my mmssms.db file in the rom, rebooted and the SMS-client won't start.
Optimus, maybe this will help you:
This is "backup to gmail"
I have got this aplication (paid) but it`s works on ICS (owain 29)
Take a look on my screenshot.
sms backup & restore works perfectly for me, but no idea on that phone call log
Albatros2605, MoFosis, Thanks for your help guys, but managed to restore my SMS by using SMS Backup+, which copies everything to your gmail and then downloads it to restore the SMS.
Hi guys, I recently screwed the pooch on an upgrade to 4.0.4, and I forgot to backup SMS before doing it. I did a nandroid backup, but I can neither restore the backup nor locate the mmssms.db file in the archive. I tried AppExtractor and Titanium Backup, but with no success.
Can someone help me by telling me where to locate my SMS history in a nandroid backup? Thanks!

Flash Kernel or not?

Hi,
I'd like to root my friend's Samsung Galaxy S Plus and install CM9, because he's always complaining about how much trouble he has with his stock ROM.
Now when I install a new version of CM on my own phone (Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro, currently with CM10) I have to extract the boot.img file and flash this first, then go into recovery (the recovery which is included in the boot.img file) and flash the ROM that goes with this boot file.
Is this also necessary on a Samsung? Cause I heard that you just have to install the .zip from sd with these phones, and the boot file will be automatically included..
Grtz!
Just flash the zip and ur good
Btw, heres a good tutorial: http://www.android.gs/update-samsung-galaxy-s-i9001-plus-to-cm9-ics-custom-rom/

Yeah what he said. just flash the zip but make sure its in the ROOT of your mates INTERNAL sd card.
Cool, thanks! And that tutorial is the best I've seen so far so thanks again .
Another question, in all the tutorials I read "To backup applications, SMS, Call Logs and the APN Internet Settings use the following tools: AppBAK for Android apps backup | SMS backup & restore | Call Logs backup & restore | APN Settings Backup & Restore." but My Backup Root does all this (and it's only one app), so isn't My Backup the best option?

Titanium Backup / Restore

Hello everyone .
I'm experiencing some setbacks with my backups.
It is the following: I can not flash to backup my apps next to ROM, I simply need to wait for ROM to start, then yes, I will flash the zip of my applications !!!
With the zipme it is possible to flash together with the ROM, but with the titanium not! But the zipme on my phone to the apps are giving FC, so I have to use the titanium!
But do you have a solution for that? Something I can change in the script or something? To be able to flash apps in conjunction with the rom installation?
