[Q] HTC One M7 Developer Edition WiFi issues (3G works fine) - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've bought the HTC One Developer Edition in the first 2 months they released so I went S-OFF with the first method which stopped working after whatever update.
I've been using ARHD ROM since then and manually flashing the baseband. I've had an issue with WiFi for a long time, but I can't handle it anymore.
The problem is, some websites fail to load on WiFi. For example, going to amazon.com works, but when I try to log in, it never laods. The amazon app doesnt work or login in with browser. If I turn WiFi off, however, it works. I checked to see if it was my Router, but it isnt. My brother's phone logs in fine. Same goes with WhatsApp, I can't send pictures while on WiFi, but using 3G data, I can.
My only theory is maybe I've skipped some baseband upgrading which failed to upgrade some important incremental radio or something.
Any ideas?

try the developers edition 6.x.1540.x firmware it works excellent for me

Thanks will try that when I get home. I am even contemplating restoring back to stock and doing all updates while stock, but I am not sure if I will be able to S-OFF if I do that.

Ok, I am back home. I cant find the firmware you speak of. The ones I've been flashing are the NoWipe ZIPs on Sneakyghost's forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2316726&nocache=1 Download links found: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LQDLpVZYyUpXPgC2sh1BvAS9Oo8B-fTiZU_JhpIH-fU/pubhtml
They come with TWRP also. I've never flashed a baseband that wipes phone just NoWipe modified Zips.
I am on 5.11.401.10, download links show two newer ones, 6.06.401.1 and 6.09.401.5

troubles after update attempt was done from 1.85 to 2.2

My wife has a vivid and she went through with the update that was poping up even though I told her not too until I fixed it. It was on 4.0.3 before 1.85 I believe, and then updating to 2.2 is the attempt.
The phone is rooted and unlocked, s-on
I don't mind the update happening but when the phone restarts to do the update, it starts and then jumps to a screen with the android, with his belly open and a red danger sign and just sticks there.
What do I do now, to get this update done and back to root/unlocked?

This should be in the Q/A section and I don't think it does. it was just a minor update for sensor issues or something like that. Have you tried running an RUU?

Lol you are not alone everyone needs to start somewhere
Sounds like a botched install. You will likely need to re-install from RUU.
You'll need to re-lock the bootloader, and download whatever RUU you want. The RUU is basically the downloadable Windows Installer version of what the carrier pushes via OTA update. You can find one for each of the main carriers. In my experience, it doesn't matter which carrier you install (for example, my phone when purchases was Rogers, but I flashed a Bell RUU, then flashed roms based on AT&T and Telstra afterward).
Look at the Superguide sticky thread in the Dev section, and it will (hopefully) answer all your questions. It has the steps for re-locking and un-locking, links for the RUU's, and (I think) I guide for installing the RUU, though it's really straight forward. Once you have the RUU installed, and are starting fresh again, you will have to un-lock the bootloader and root again, or just flash a custom rom after re-installing a custom recovery (CWM, TWRP, etc).
Good luck, and don't be afraid to post back here if you have any issues. But make sure you read the superguide top to bottom at least twice. It will give you an idea of what steps are preformed in what order and why. Even if you don't need to do all the steps, at least you should have an understanding of what's actually going on.
DO NOT INSTALL CWM...
It corrupts partitions...
I recommend twrp

Thank you everyone, I was able to get it back to before the update. The wife was complaining about "what does this root thing get me anyways" after this trouble so I am just going to unroot it, do the OTA update and let me have it. Is she ends up wanting something different I will step in.
Great to hear!

Data Connection Issue

Hi
I rooted my phone 2 days back and installed Trickdroid ROM, since then i am facing issues with data connection... This is what happens:
It works for a while and then just stops receiving data.. the sending data arrow blinks (with HSPDA) but the receiving doesn't. If i turn the data off and on again.. it again works for a while.
To troubleshoot: I flashed the ROM again (full wipe, even at first it was full wipe); nothing changed.> I deleted my APN settings and manually added new settings (VODAFONE), still the same... works for a while and stops.
Then i installed Ordroid ROM... same issue.. tried everything.
This was working perfectly when i got my device and was stock.
i can't say that it's 4.2.2 or anything cause my friends did the same and they don't have issues.
Now need some expert advice as to what went wrong.
p.s.: WiFi works perfectly.
You can try updating the radio firmware as this may be the problem but this may or may not 100% fix it as your case seems isolated (not many other complaints). May just be your carrier upgrading stuff also.
You can try full wiping again. It might fix your data problem.
Heres the link for the radios
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023&page=2317
about halfway down youll find them I just updated to the .24 fw and have seen a slight performance (ATT)
I dont know if you need s-off or not since i am s-off to update these through recovery but even with s-off i couldn't update through adb

Which one should i be choosing?? I am on vodafone india. Also can i just flash through CWM? i am not soff.
I'd try the .24 just since its the newest. I don't know if it will work with S-On since I am s-off. You can give it a try but you can easily set s-off if you need to with revolution. I renamed the zip download to radio.zip and flashed it with twrp so cwm should also work. Just check to make sure theres no problem with putting it on your phone which there should be none and this may fix it since it relates straight to the radio.

Flashed the radio. 24. Let's see results now.
I've got the same issues.... I flash the Rom ARHD 10.1 then back to 9.4 be cause i don't like the 4.2.2 sense rom.
I try to change the radio with the 3 .zip avalaible and nothing change. I'll try to full wipe my one today, and do a factory reset..
ps: excuse my english..

[Q] Phone reboots every 15-30 seconds

I recently rooted my HTC a few days ago. I downloaded Titanium Backup to get rid of the Sprint bloatware. Did it and everything was fine. However, a few hours ago I turned my phone off as I had a speech to deliver. Turned it back on and now it is rebooting every 15-30 seconds. Also, my text messaging is weird. I use hangouts and the messages stay on "sending" and yet apparently they are sent since I am getting replies. I am using Google Hangouts. I can still make calls and all that so I know I still have service. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I DO NOT have S-Off. Just a standard root, if that helps. My guess is that I most likely uninstalled something I shouldn't have. If so, could anyone provide a stock HTC rom or app package I can flash? Is this even possible since I don't have S-Off?

i believe the standard messaging app is still required for texting even if hangouts is handling it. did you uninstall stock messaging? also as a rule of thumb i tend to freeze instead of uninstall the apps that way i dont have to hunt down a flash if it messes up. this is also why you always make a nandroid anytime you mess with your phone's software.

Nope, I did not uninstall the stock messaging app. And yeah, I forgot to do a nandroid backup. Do you know where I can find a stock ROM to flash? Do I need S-Off to flash roms?
What version of SuperSU do you have installed? I recall seeing an issue awhile back where some other folks were having reboot issues and flashing the newest version of SuperSU fixed their issue. If that doesn't fix your issue you'll need to reflash your ROM. You can take a look at the thread in the link below, also. It has stock backups that you can load and install via recovery. You can also run the RUU that's the equivalent of what you're currently running.
Stock backups:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2736048
RUU's:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
Once you get things running again, make sure you make a backup in TWRP.

Alright man I'm not able to get the files onto my phone since, like I said, it reboots an all that. Ideally, I'd like to simply flash a 100 percent stock ROM and I just won't **** with the damn thing ever again. If you could help me with this, I'd be eternally grateful.

How do I do this? I managed to get the phone stable but now none of my radios are working. Cell, data, WiFi, GPS, none of them work or even turn on. Will doing what you said fix this?

Bootloop and Signal Loss

I'm having trouble with my phone whereby rebooting it (for xposed module updates and the like) will cause the phone to either enter a bootloop or reboot succesfully and lose signal (I also lose my apn list without anyway of saving new apn's and also get "unknown" for both imei and baseband in settings).
This appears to have happened since I have moved to google stock based roms (cyanogenmod, liquidsmooth etc) and I have not yet found a permanent fix - I have tried all matter of things such as flashing a new radio, reflashing rom, wiping cache and dalvik cache - all these solutions have both worked and not worked so I am stuck as to what is causing this.
I am wondering whether it might be to do with not being on the latest firmware or hboot. I am currently on FW 5.12.771.3 or FW 4.20.771.17 (sorry but I am afraid to reboot into fastboot in order to find the exact FW and getting the rom stuck in a bootloop again) and H-BOOT 1.54.00.
I have also been told my problem may lie with meta-inf file, but this is over my head.
Thanks in advance.

You can give them a call and explain what you are experiencing, then go from there. If it is under warranty, you will want to send it back stock.

If you have warranty your only hope is to try and s-off the device. Then you can return to Stock and get it repaired under warranty.
Getting s-off may prove troublesome. But you say your phone is stable at this time so I assume your running CM11?

It's over 18 months old so I doubt the warranty is available. Ive had the purple tinted camera issue fixed already.
I am running cm11, the issue only appears to be when I reboot. When the phone is left on without a reboot I don't get any signal issue whatsoever.

Well the fact that imei and baseband come back is promising. Although it's hard to know what tinkering with it may do. Could make it worse, could make it better depends on what exactly is causing it. but so far it sounds like your problem is not quite as bad as the other cases.
Is the device still on contract with Three, if so you may find they will replace it. It's definitely worth contacting them about the issue. If there prepared to replace the device it's worth trying to s-off. I'm with Three myself and have an extensive collection of files you can use to return to stock. But you will need to s-off the phone.
I would speak with Three first find out what your options with them are before playing about with it to much. But if your going to s-off it would be better to do it sooner rather than later. If the reboots get worse. You may have a hard time achieving s-off.

[Q] Wifi connected but wont load anything

I unlocked my bootloader and flashed CM11 it was fine until the wifi no longer worked at all it authenticates and it connects to the router however it wont load anything. I flashed ARHD and it also doesn't work on it. What could be the problem?
I thought I should note that the phones IP shows up in the routers connected devices.

Other devices are fine, It seems to work after i leave it overnight and then randomly not work even though its connected and I get the Internet connection unstable error.
I used ARHD stock rom and flashed the stock recovery and got the OTA back to 4.4.3
I cannot use any RUU to get back to stock as I cannot get s-off
I am very confused about this

Well, i used Liquid Smooth Rom to S-OFF. it works fine but you also need to check your hboot version before S-OFF.
the reason why i S-OFF my device because i did some rom flashing but it was too buggy and i accidentally hit wipe everything. All the rom that i downloaded is wipe, no software in it and abd sideload wont work for me atm. So i have to get OTG cable and run Liquid Smooth to S-OFF. After that i can run the RUU properly.

My concern is the WiFi issue I mentioned that I am not able to s-off just so its clear that I cannot return to stock via a RUU.
I am fairly sure though that flashing the ARHD stock ROM then stock recovery is almost the same. I did get the OTA right after flashing the stock recovery with it. But the WiFi issue started with using firewater. I am curious because it uses WiFi and I have tried it many times maybe it caused some damage? Anyone know if its possible for firewater to cause WiFi damage? I'm thinking its something else but if anyone knows anything let me know :good:

My concern is the WiFi issue I mentioned that I am not able to s-off just so its clear that I cannot return to stock via a RUU.
I am fairly sure though that flashing the ARHD stock ROM then stock recovery is almost the same. I did get the OTA right after flashing the stock recovery with it. But the WiFi issue started with using firewater. I am curious because it uses WiFi and I have tried it many times maybe it caused some damage?
