My buddy wants to get one of these and I am trying to find out if you can unlock the bootloader without going to HTC's site.
Thank you

Nope. HTC will know you're breaking warranty when you unlock it.
This is why I keep my protection plan with Sprint. I don't mind paying the additional $11 per phone to make sure I'm not screwed if I mess something up.

God I love T-Mobile. Ok, thanks guys.
Hi,
I got a note 3 as an upgrade from AT&T.
It's still under contract.
If want want to sell it, do I still need to activate it with the new sim card first?
Or do I just wait for a week or to, will they automatically activate it? (the term and condition mentioned something about the line will be activated automatically after a certain date.)
I just don't want my buyer to have any troubles using the phone if I don't activate it probably.
Thanks.

You can leave it sealed in the box. You don't have to do anything. All your buyer has to do is put his SIM in it and done.

I see. But I also read stories about people buying brand new at&t "unactivated" phones and cannot use the phone because the seller who got the phone as an upgrade did not activate it.
And i asked AT&T what would happen if I didn't activate it, I will have to return the phone?
It's kind of confusing.

I see. So what about the sim that comes inside the Note 3 box?
If I don't do anything, will AT&T automatically transfer my existing line to this new sim in the box ?

The activation process requires the person who buys your phone to enter their phone number if/when they try to use the SIM that comes with the phone. So it will either activate under their number or it wont work if its programmed to your phone which I am not sure. I assume the person buying your phone will most likely just put their SIM in. Maybe @agent929 can answer better.
The only downside to selling your upgrade is now you have to wait 2 years for your next discount.
How much are you selling it for ?? I'm looking tobuy one. Send me a private message

Don't activate that SIM card. He can use it for himself. It's that easy. Just don't open the box.
So, I am wanting to get the S5, but I am tired of all the AT7T bloatware that comes on these phones. Plus, being in the military, prefer unlocked phones. So, what are my choices here. Where can I get an unlocked S5 that will fully work on the AT7T network?

The closest you could get is a TMO branded S5 which ships BL Unlocked (at least initial shipments) a few bands may not work though depending on the TMO radio. Also you would need to sim unlock the TMO S5 and buy it outright which I believe is 660.

I was wondering about that. Heard the TMO boot loader is unlocked. Just wasn't sure all bands would work on AT&T.
Att LTE should work hspa+ not sure I haven't looked at tmo specs at length

Just called Tmobile, and the phones do not come unlocked if I buy at full price? How would I unlock it so it would work with AT&T?

looking on the site you gave me, it stated that all samsung devices would need to be activated on original carrier first or the phone would be region locked. is this correct?

Ah, yes, it's my American perspective, as I would like to import, but Samsung is trying to stop such behavior.

The expectation is that all American models are region-locked as well. Here is an example of a N. America model with the region-lock warning on it: http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s5-region-lock-367402/
FYI, I bought an AT&T S5, unlocked it and am using it now on Straight Talk and with other local SIMs as I travel. Check out my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714535
I bought my nexus from Sprint without contact but I have service with sprint thinking about changing providers how would I put my nexus on a different provider without buying a phone for a new Sim thank you
Just put the SIM card inside of the device and you're set.
For Verizon, you'd have to contact them to activate, I could be wrong. Not familiar with Verizon, but either way you'd need a Verizon SIM card.
Would they give me a sim if I get a plan with them

They sure would. You can get pre paid or bring your own device. Haven't done it myself but I've seen many on here do it.

I was wondering if I am able to use my N6 on sprint or Verizon network. Been going through the web and XDA but just like a straight forward answer. Just a simple question that's all. Thanks in advance.

Yes. I bought my nexus 6 from Moto's website and popped my SIM in and it works perfectly. Don't know what your experience might be if you had to take it to the store to activate.

Your subject line indicates that yours is an AT&T N6. It is carrier locked to AT&T. You will have to get an unlock code, either directly from AT&T or from a third party. Can only be unlocked if you bought it outright, without subsidy. Do a Google search, there are plenty of articles on how to do this.

Yes. But you'll have to get a SIM card from an already activated phone. You won't be able to just walk into a VZW store. The IMEI number won't show up on their list. Go over in General section, there's a thread that explains how this works.

I don't know. But I'd guess it's much the same as VZW. Let's see if any Sprint users chime in.

I have N6 on Verizon
When from Retail Rooted Note 3 to N6. They had to dummy a phone on my line that required a nano to get the nano then removed the phone but left thet nano activated. I then popped nano in N6 and good to go. Only downside you CAN NOT use data the same time as making a call. Everything else works great. Extended network, 3G...etc

As far as I know, activation on Sprint should be as easy as getting their Sim card and putting it in. Once the device is freed from the AT&T lock of course.
Read this post and the next few after. Sprint may even have this sorted out by now too.

So, I am trying to do the same now. I have an iphone 6 plus with a micro sim in it, and I am trying to swap that over to an att n6 I just got off the craigs list. I get some bars, and the "hands free activation". But it never goes anywhere and eventually the bars go away and say no sim available. How have people gotten this done?

Both. I was actually able to get it activated using sprints online activation tool. I just had to enter in my MEID rather than IMEI (meid is IMEI minus the last number).
