You should try to update your router's firmware. In addition you can try to connect your smartphone to your router by using wps, this seems to fix that issue in some cases.

I tried enabling wps on router , but i am unable to find firmware upgrade , the problem seems to be only with playstore ,google sync ,etc
gmail ,youtube ,facebook ,and other web applications are working fine . i purchased the router only about 3 weeks ago .
also could you help me on how to find firmware update ?
Thankyou ,

"with playstore ,google sync , etc, gmail ,youtube ,facebook" only? lol
Try to find if there are some configurations about firewall/port blocking enabled by default in router's settings, also set google dns instead of your provider's ones.
To upgrade just go here and download the firmware for you router ( check your revision ) http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/support/product/dir-600-wireless-n-150-home-router
Than you can follow this official guide tu update http://files.dlink.com.au/Products/DIR-600/REV_B1/SetupGuides/DIR-600-How_to_update_the_firmware.pdf

The router shown is not the model I am using and can't find my model there. It is an Indian version .( D link DIR 600M , revision c1 , firmware 3.01)
I already disabled firewall on the router
Changing the DNS didn't work either

Check your proxy settings. I had the same problem after flashing 5.06. Could not get the browser to work when connected to wifi. I had some strange 10.0.0.* address under proxy settings. No idea where it came from.
try disable and enable wifi twice or 3 times

I had the same problem described above. Then I disabled the proxy and it worked. In my case the proxy IP and port automatically came from my data APN profile which I was using at that time.
i can confirm that disabling proxy works.thank you for the info!

[Q] Netflix problem on wifi only - 3G working

Hi I think this is probably my first post on here
Just got a galaxy note in UK on three network
Netflix is working fine on 3G connection
but as soon as I try to use it on wifi it won't even log in, let alone stream anything
which sounds completely the wrong way round to me (if anything i'd expect more problems on 3g/data than wifi)
I have contacted netflix once about this already - being new also to netflix in the UK, I was impressed with the freephone help line number and bright happy service I was given but the suggestions did not work (I had already tried many of them myself)
I have tried rebooting device
logging in on 3g work and streams then while playing it seems to continue streaming if i turn on wifi (but thats not a good workaround)
If i log in on wifi I don't get past the netflix app login screen
Have reinstalled the netflix app
no luck
Have fixed the ip of the phone and set it in DMZ on router - still no luck
Have forwarded ports 80 and 443 to ip of phone - no luck (on advice from call to netflix)
So any suggestions are welcome please
Wifi works fine for all other apps, web browsing etc
(My galaxy note is unlocked and was not bought on three.)
ok have now done a complete factory reset of phone
only updated gmail
not installed any other apps
setup wifi - tried 2 diffent access points I have by different manufacturers
try netfix app on wifi - login timeout
on 3g only - still fine and ok
i have an archos 80 g9 device here also and get the same problem
tried the ipad (original ipad) app and all fine on wifi on that
have tried clearing app's data and cache
still not chnage - still will not work on wifi (only 3g)
starting to think this is a problem with the app as get same issue on archos

Just an FYI, but Netflix works fine on all my Android devices over WIFI (and 3g where applicable), so I suspect it is probably something to do with your router.
Regards,
Dave

thanks for the reply
I had thought either the same or that maybe being a fairly new device
the app had a problem with the galaxy note
but as i get the same problem on the archos I'm now thinking it must be settings on the router - even though I have never had any other problems with any other device/app (as i say the ipad works fine)
Any one any ideas what on the router may be the cause of this?
I have another router I will test with as I have tested on a neighbours connection and all was OK (different ISP and router manufacterer)
but would like to know what the problem is
rather than just blindly buy new routers until the problem is fixed.
just to update with what has happened on this
in case anyone else is watching the thread...
I have now setup another router
and all is working
so obviously there is either minor flaw in the buffalo router firmware i was using
(although it is a model with no updates at this time)
or there was a setting somewhere causing the problem
If anyone has any clues as to the setting it may have been causing the issue
can you please post as I would like to know the answer rather than just move on and forget that i ever had the other router.
thanks
Hi all.
I had the same problem with my SGS II on my Netgear router (from Orange UK).
All was OK with Netflix, until I was re-configuring my network after my TP Link range extender started playing up. The network was originally on Wireless G, but I changed the security settings, the network ran Wireless N. Everything seemed OK, but it seems that my PS3 had a little trouble connecting to the internet, and definitely Netflix, and on the SGS II I couldn't connect to Netflix at all, either via web or via the app.
I change back to wireless G tonight and all seems OK.
Hope this helps someone out, as I was trawling the web searching for answers myself.

WIFI portal issue

Any help would be great. My I9000 connects to WIFI without issues. Open and secure.
This Hotel has an open WIFI with a login portal. None of the browsers manage to get to the login page so I can activate my internet .....
Heeeeelp!! LOL
[Iapplications from Google Play, wifi booster and wifi manager, analizer could show where
problem and possibly resolve to switch to a different IP address.][/I]If does not work, probably the kernel / kernel / that helps.
Hi everyone - finally found a solution for this i9000 problem.
Upgrade to Hellybean ROM.
Make sure to backup all your apps first as it uses a different partition layout.

Wi-Fi problem after 4.4.2 update. [solved]

Hi guys, this morning I received the notification that an update was ready (4.4.2 update, I live in Italy but my One is from Norway). Well, just ended the update, and since that moment, I' m not able to connect to any Wi-Fi network, even if from favorites. It founds networks, says connection in progress, and then nothing. Has anyone founded this kind of problem?

Just solved, the problem was the Wi-Fi protection. It seems to not connect on router with Wep, in Wpa everything works like a charm.

Yep, alot of firmware versions do have issues with WEP encrypted WiFi networks.
WPA is the way to go.

Good to know. I never knew about this problem...
Tried again with my router (Netgear DG834G v3), and my One won't connect in Wep neither in wpa. This morning i have tried with another router (an HTC One used like hotspot) and it was ok.
Now I've tried with that other router in wep, and it connects too. Before the update everything was ok with the netgear...someone can help me?

I am also having problems connecting to a Netgear router with WPA security after the update to 4.4.2 (ARHD 51), anybody have an idea what could be causing it? I could connect fine before upgrading to 4.4.2
You try this:
Change the device name under Bluetooth, restart device and connect to WiFi router again.
Sorry guys, I found solution 3 days ago, but didn't post it thinking I was the only with this problem. To solve it, go in settings, Wi-Fi, click on three dots up on the right, advanced and then mark the last voice in the menu (in italian I nave "IP automatico DLNA", and I think in english is " IP automatic DLNA"). It turn works in Wep, wpa, wpa2...everything)
Previously saved Wifi's not connecting after 4.4.2 update

I also face the same problem. I tried the above said method as well. But dint work. It seems that the problem is with only those saved networks before update. Can someone help me with this. Thanks
Hey there,
I seem to having the same problem. After updating my HTC one to android 4.4.2 I cannot connect to my WIFI anymore. The wifi is connecting and then nothing happens anymore. Can anybody help me with this
Thank you!
1. go to your router setting>> wireless setting>> disable the password required.
2. connect to your home WiFi from your device, see if connected (hope it does)
3. go to your router setting>> wireless setting>> enable password required (WPA/2)
4. connect to your home WiFi from your device with the new password.
It works for me, hope i helped.
To fix wi-fi problem on 4.4.2 android you have to rename Wi-fi Direct device name.
To do that you have to go:
WiFi - then 3 dots - WiFi Direct - 3 dots - Rename Device - HTC One.

IT WORKS FOR ME!! I just had to register here to say thanks, but this really works for me. Was using my room wifi running WEP, after a 300+mb 4.4.2 update to my HTC One, it just kept hopping between scanning and connecting and scanning.....was frustrated with it. I tried with another router, running WEP too and going out the same internet pipeline and it worked, just not my room router.
tried manually inputting mac address at my room router but didn't work, turn off/on multiple times but nope, was wondering if router problem or phone problem.
but then i change the displayed device name from Android_524b to HTC One case sensitive and voilah, it immediately worked, pick up the nice beloved wireless signal on the notice bar, and everything back to normal.....
no hard reset, no router re programming, no tearing the whole house to reprogram every darn piece of equipment. thank you so much
(btw, my router is a super old netgear g connection 2.4ghz adsl modem router. tried the frequency band changing to 2.4ghz but had no effect earlier)

For you to download any apps from Google Play, your phone must be connected to a network. A simple solution will be to switch on the data connection and then run the reverse tethering app. Most reverse tethering app will disable the data download using network connection, meaning the data connection icon will be present but downloading will be done using reverse tethering. This is the only way to fool Google Play into thinking that the phone is connected to network when actually you are downloading the content using your pc connection. If your mobile data connection is used for download, kindly switch off the data connection as the reverse tethering app is not capable of disabling the data connection. Do post the result. Hope I Helped
