Hello Guys,
i'm using the Ativ S running the latest developer preview update. As some of you might know the Ativ does have some issues with the microsoft camera on WP 8.1. So i thought about whether it is somehow possible to bring the camera app of WP 8.0, which had no issues, to WP 8.1 and maybe sideload it?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Chris

The built-in camera software on 8.0 isn't an "app" in the usual sense. It's built into the OS. I can extract the binaries easily enough, and can probably find *most* of the relevant registry values, but it's still not a simple matter of installing a .XAP or .APPX
Ok thanks for your answer but it should be possible to do this?

And i do have another question. What could be the reason of the camera bug? A kind of unclosed event or is it a matter of information management?

It's possible in the strict sense, but good luck finding anybody with the skill, the time, and the inclination to bother. On a capability-unlocked phone it would take a lot more time than I am able to put into something like this right now (if I ever manage to fix the issue currently preventing me from upgrading my phone *to* 8.1, my priorities may change). On a phone that is merely dev-unlocked it would take a ton of effort and hacking, potentially to the point of "not possible until we can find an interop-unlock hack".
Ok. Thanks

Well really general is for anything that involves the N4. since he didn't Development anything it doesn't go there. This could be posted in the Q/A other wise. To answer your question. Most likely the answer is no. Windows RT is closed source so it would be very hard for it to be ported to a Android phone. Also no one will most likely be willing to port it to our phone since we have a Great Android phone not a Windows Phone.
Even though they ported it to the HD2.

It could be possible but the dev coutulla(something like that) is responsible for porting xp, WP7, RT, and more. He has not changed devices so it is unlikely that someone else has his skillset because we haven't seen anyone successfully do what he did.
The dev that did that is a genius, but we might not be able to replicate that without a different boot loader. On android devices, the bootloaders are designed to load android, so we'd need a way to design or modify a boot loader to boot up another os like windows rt or boot2geckgo. Although this device is extremely open, the HTC hd2 is much more so in that you can modify every single aspect about it going even further than the os and mess with partitions that are locked down most of the time.

Not 100% sure but since windows is closed source and copyrighted would it even be legal to port it? It would be like downloading pirated windows to your pc. I could see windows phones getting android but not the other way around
Is there any way to change font on windows 8.1? As far as i know is no way to change system font, right? I want to change my android phone to windows phone to have new experience but my mother language is not on windows os.

I am sorry but there is probably no way changing the System font for a non-unlocked phone. As I haven't an interop-unlocked phone, I don't know about an eventually possibility.

So, you means even unlocked device can not change system font ?
I mean, with an interop-unlocked phone you might be able to replace the system font files. If you can find the right registry key and it's somewhere you can write, that might work too. I'm not aware of any other solution, though, certainly not for mere dev-unlock.
Frankly, if this is something you want, you should be researching it yourself. There aren't a lot of us developing WP8.x hacks, and we've all got day jobs and lives and all that. What's more, we're usually looking more for new ways to gain privileges, rather than things to do with the privileges we have. There's nothing wrong with starting out looking at how to apply the existing hacks more profitably; in fact, that's exactly how I started back in the WP7.0 days. Find things and post them, people will appreciate your efforts and the community will benefit, while other people work to ensure that more devices can be jailbroken.
i used to have the floating apps button at the bottom of the screen with the menu, back etc keys.. have they been taken off now? is there a way to get them back? they are seriously useful for me personally.. calculator, notes, converter etc
I believe Asus removed this when the released KitKat, so not a Cromi issue. Perhaps someone can suggest alternatives now that Asus killed it.

That's a bit of a shame, i used that on a daily basis.. I guess an alternative would be ok, but i did like the easy access of where the button was situated. I guess i need to evolve as android does
Asus removed it from 4.4.2.
I know some people like it but they have decided it is not part of their zenui moving forward.
Just thought id share this with you guys .Im currently running on my neo its alittle buggie at first but its my daily nowhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-2/development/please-help-kernel-compiling-android-t2992953
Oh hey, so they finally went somewhere with that project! I used to keep track of the many developers who have tried over the years, good to see that someone was finally able to pull it off.
How do you like it so far?
Is it worth the transition and side effects?
The side effects are not that bad you have to force a weather card to keep the open gl driver running so that the faces work

That's not to bad, but what about the no mic thing? Since android wear is big on "Ok Google" has that caused any limitations??
I scanned through the thread and so far it looks amazing!! That's my only concern, I really want to try this, but I have custom roms on my other samsung devices that made the IR blaster useless as well lol and I currently don't own a remote for my room.

its my daily driver aswell, Biktor_gj has done really well with it. its came miles "over the years". you can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-2/development/please-help-kernel-compiling-android-t2992953
does anyone have a link or some direction on the where to get the windows drivers for this. i have flashed stuff and used odin for years and i cant get windows to read this in download mode no matter what. i tried tizen and android sdk, installed samsung phone drivers, installed and uninstalled kies. im at a loss. im am using vm on mac but never had an issue with any samsung products. might be a tizen thing.
So, does this mean I can have full use of my neo without the need for a TW rom? I detest TouchWiz
The answer is yes!
Can this be used on other devices as well? I'm going to be moving from a note 3 to a moto x at upgrade and would like to be able to use the neo 2 with it.

Yes, you can connect to other phones. Successfully connected to an LG G3 using android wear app.

I just upgraded to Android Pie (just arrived). Big big mistake. I lost List View in Recent apps. From what i managed to find here, this is due to new (crappy) One UI.
So, I'm asking ... does anyone have any solution to get my List View back. I really needed. I am willing to install any launcher or plugg-in or whatever just to get it back.
Downgrade is an option, but i would appreciate it if anyone has a solution that doesnt involve this.
