I am sorry but there is probably no way changing the System font for a non-unlocked phone. As I haven't an interop-unlocked phone, I don't know about an eventually possibility.

So, you means even unlocked device can not change system font ?
I mean, with an interop-unlocked phone you might be able to replace the system font files. If you can find the right registry key and it's somewhere you can write, that might work too. I'm not aware of any other solution, though, certainly not for mere dev-unlock.
Frankly, if this is something you want, you should be researching it yourself. There aren't a lot of us developing WP8.x hacks, and we've all got day jobs and lives and all that. What's more, we're usually looking more for new ways to gain privileges, rather than things to do with the privileges we have. There's nothing wrong with starting out looking at how to apply the existing hacks more profitably; in fact, that's exactly how I started back in the WP7.0 days. Find things and post them, people will appreciate your efforts and the community will benefit, while other people work to ensure that more devices can be jailbroken.

Hi!
I have spent like hours on google trying to find if there is already something like this out there, but so far I havent found anything, so thought I'd ask!
Think of the PC program, InstallRite which monitors the system for files & registry entries added, modified & deleted when a setup program is running; is it at all possible to find or even make an app that can "see" what is going on behind the scenes of a running program?
An example: say I was to download something random, not knowing anything about the file or what it does (yeah pretty stupid I know, but just using this as an example) and run it only to find its malicious and has screwed around with my operating system making it almost useless, wouldnt it be real usefull if an app was running that displayed everything it did, every line of executed code so you could see what it did!
Does anybody know of such a program / app that'd do this?
I eagerly await your replies!
Arty.

It would be so beneficial to me as I am always interested in how things work, what they do and why, so if there was such a thing i'd be in my element hehe
I just hate it when trying to google stuff like this, its not practical to hunt through over a million results just to find stuff thats not relevant to what I wanted to search for

Wouldn't you just use logcats for this? And kernel messages? That usually tends to show you everything your phone is doing...but I may be wrong.

im not entirely sure that development even started for the focus s
which is a shame as its a beast of a device, ive asked questions to the gods that be on XDA dev to see if they could even point us In the right direction to playing with this amazing device, unfortunately they have all ignored me.
So I believe as it stands, they don't want to do anything with it as its got a very small user base, and they dnt want to help us so we can do it either.
but still, least its interop unlocked and unlock tools works with it!
This makes me deeply sad inside. It is a sensation like the one you feel when seeing a perfectly good cake being thrown in the garbage.

I am to scared to do the Samsung Update in fear of losing my unlock access. I guess I will be going to the Nokia 920 because I think the user base will be large. This device has been solid for me besides the speaker his when I take a picture.
If the device is fully functional, an you make a backup, applying the Samsung update is fine, but make sure you re apply the relock prevent app, id also strongly suggest you try to restore a backup image as well just to make sure it works!. So make a backup, copy it to a safe location, install some app, then restore your backup, the app you installed should be gone!if that works double check your still interop unlocked, apply Samsung update, DO NOT lose your previous backup an do not apply any OS updates to your phone with out first restoring to your backup! IE remove the Samsung update first!

you can open it up and take a look for your self, to be honest, there is only a couple of noticeable reasons for doing so, the biggie is the keyboard lag issues, there is also an increase in audio volume. looking at the files, it also updates the ROM its self, so hard resets will give you tango rather than Mango
(NOTE_resettng is a really bad idea, if you reset your device, you probably wont be able to restore from a backup and you may end up stuck with it being locked!)
drivers and some apps receive updates.
To be honest, i wouldn't bother, unless the keyboard lag issue is too much for you ( kinda fixable if you turn off keyboard sounds) or the audio is too low an the popping drives you mad, the whole thing feels better but its marginal at best.

Ok so, I bought this awesome device and Im waiting for it to be delivered. I know that rooting has awesome features and great things, but Im wondering if someone has experienced any kind of issue after rooting... I read somewhere here in the forum, that the Wifi on someone's tablet stopped working and he had to return it.. Sadly, I can't be returning stuff since I live out of the states and is not that easy... Hope someone can tell me ^^ Would love to have 3 or 4 answers for me to take my decision. Thanks in advance.

If you follow instructions to a complete letter and make sure it's the correct rooting instructions for your version number, then all should be well but I do have to say that it's always done at your own risk. There's no way around that.
I have not read anyone else with rooting problems on here for the KFHD. The guy with the wifi post which I've read most likely got a dud. Mine was rooted and ran fine for me. I returned mine for other reasons.
Just be careful on what you do to your device. If you do something you shouldn't with your "extra privileges", it can be easy to brick your device. Especially when it's so young in development stages right now.
I received my fire a week ago. I intended to root it like I have all other android devices I own.
I have kept it stock and probably will for awhile. I just did not feel the need to root. I side loaded GMail and most other Google apps I wanted. I side loaded adw launcher and dolphin browser. So I feel no real reason to root since a few people have had problems.
Now when the boot loader gets unlocked and there is custom Roms now that is a different story.

I rooted yesterday. Got go ex as default launcher, play store, dolphin, etc. No problems yet. Seems faster, if anything.
There aren't many risks with it other then the average (brick). Which can occur with any device. Just make sure you follow the steps correctly step by step, and make sure your adb drivers are installed correctly.

My devices are all rooted, for my Bionic, it's so that I can use AdFree, Titanium Backup and to run AirBubble, which let's AirPlay devices see the phone and ply music to it remotely (or to whatever speakers it's plugged in to! ) It doesn't have to be used for illegal stuff, it just unlocks your phone's administrator privileges so that those that know specific use cases which require lower level code can go ahead and run. If you can already do everything you want with your phone, you don't need to root it.

Rooting is good for getting rid of bloatware too.
With rooting there is always a risk that you are going to screw something up. The easiest way to ensure that doesnt happen is to not root the device. But if you are going to anyway just don't do something you don't fully understand unless you are willing to take the risks.
For example if you do not know how to use adb then don't try at this time, play around with it on something else. If you still want root and don't know adb then use the automated root tool. All the hard stuff is done for you and there is no chance of inputting something wrong and causing problems. To avoid any conflicts with apps or settings reset the device to factory. Just one more step to take human error out of the equation.
After the device is rooted is when people tend to cause problems for themselves. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS/DOES DON'T TOUCH IT!!! If you are messing around inside a file manager any folder outside the sdcard folder has the potential to cause problems so- IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS/DOES DON'T TOUCH IT!!!(unless you can afford the risk)
When making changes, research what you are trying to do extensively and don't rely on one source. What worked for one person will not always work for another, to many variables.
All in all just aire on the side of caution.
Thanks for all responses ^^ I've had other android devices and I had rooted them, but Im afraid with this one since I read about the wifi not working anymore... But thanks to all of you I might give it a shot. One last thing, I have 2 KFHD, do I have to install Adb for both?

Anyone find any new news on this so called "920 Unlock" that has been claimed it will be released soon ? If this is true, this could open the doors to most WP devices...
The only thing I saw was Ultrashot saying it was a Riffbox "hack" (meaning you'd need to have some special hardware and probably physically open up your phone, to do it).

its also unbelievably dodgy if you don't know what your doing.
You effectively connect directly to the ROM chip, an I mean that in a physical sense and rewrite any data you want, you can "root" anything doing this as you'll bypass any security measures, its just a matter of getting the correct software to flash on to the thing that's tricky, oh and the small matter cracking open your device, locating the chip, working out the necessary configurations to power it up and flash it
I did some research on this for the focus S and yes its possible but its way beyond my abilities

It's dispointing for sure....All I want is 3 rows of tiles and custom colors on my 928.... is this too much to ask ? (Not at Devs at Microsoft)...
Then get the ATIV Odyssey, which I just unlocked InteropUnlocked Sunday, except three tiles might be overkill on a 480x800 screen. O_0

If you are 8.1 user use custom wpsystem and customPFD
also you can use resource hacker of djamol after that . Using resource hacker is not maybe very safe for this time so wait for it
Note that djamol's hacks don't make a complete root, though they are the closest thing that is public right now for a Lumia like yours. Nobody's going to say anything about a full root until it's ready, and ideally not even then not until after a major update (to give the most possible time before MS <REDACTED>s us over with an update that takes away control of our personal devices again).
I bought an HTC Desire 510 few months ago cause my Xperia ARC died (was the best phone I ever had).
Now I am very disappointed with the HTC 510, mainly cause of it's awful operating system bundled by google ALL OVER the place
The user interface is a one big disaster, so much annoying and unnecessary stuff... besides the annoying bloatware (parental control app? srsly?)
I really wanna root this phone and change it's OS to those similar of gingerbreed, cyanogen etc but I don't know how to do this with my current phone
and don't even know what custom operating systems are available for the model I have.
What annoys me about the user interface:
*Often lowers the earphone music volume without my permission then gives me this annoying warning that making it higher will damage my hearing - srsly?
*Screen tends to lower it's lighting and back again by itself while I use the phone
*A button at the bottom of the menu that looks like a "home logo" will open somekind of useless google page each time I drag that button up by mistake.
*Terrible and irremovable Gallery app, not to mention it displays images in uncomfortable way, it also features a slideshow which often plays automatically without me asking it to each time I enter a photo album.
*Poorly made irremovable alarm clock app
*Other forced google apps installed on my phone which i don't use and can't just get rid of
*Bad just bad option of organizing apps, well for me atleast, back on my Xperia ARC I used to organize my apps by "commonly used apps" feature, went great, here it's just wacky, it doesn't do it automatically after you set it to organize the following way. So I find myself surfing through all the useless apps to find the app I need at the app menu.
Can anyone give me guidance or recommendation for an alternative Operating System I could replace this horrific google product infecting my phone since I bought it?
I presume this phone would become amazing with a new custom OS, did anyone changed the OS on their HTC 510? if yes what you use and how is it?
Also I know to root this device you first need to unlock the bootloader, is there anything else important I need to know when rooting it?

Dude really. Maybe you should have checked out the forums of this model B4 you bought it. That being said, since you say you are unlocked and rooted then doing a quick search should get you everything you need to rid yourself of all that is bothering you. Depending on what you have and with whom there are some pretty good options out there to use. Check it out and start doing it.
Or you could just throw your phone in the lake, buy and Iphone and forget about it. Bam!

All I can say (and I never said it was easy) is for you to subscribe to all of the HTC 510 Forums and start reading thru the threads. In your case, the most helpful one being this one..."Help & Troubleshooting" if you can not find answers to your particular questions then I would assume that means we just aren't there yet. This is a pretty new device after all. I wouldnt know about themes being I am on custom ROM and that is not an option. You should maybe go for the Unlock and root your phone method. Try out some of the ROMs available. I believe that will alleviate many of your issues since the stock ROM that came with these units have multiple issues. Many of them are the same ones you are experiencing. I wish you well and Read, Read, Read.
Good Luck

You should definitely read through the forums if you haven't so far. I have read/skimmed every thread here about our phone and I almost have no questions or concerns except for some ideas for a couple of issues that haven't been brought up yet or just not yet done.
I only use Sense Home or Dodol Launcher and they both don't have the option to sort by last used, check out Nova, Apex, or some other launcher.
As far as the update is concerned, you can follow this post by LarryBoyG, if you plan to stay on stock. I'm sure a custom ROM will be built that includes the update, unless everyone just wants to wait for Lollipop.
