Hi all. New to Z1, but have a lot of experience developing for Xperia ION.
I have a boot loader unlocked Z1 6903. The question is: when I properly install a custom rom, such as Slimkat weekly, does it come with its own baseband, or stock 4.4 baseband stays. I find gsm signal weaker than in stock. If that's the case (their own baseband), can I safely flash with flash tool stock baseband only excluding everything else. I have done that numerous times on Xperia ION, but am not sure it will work on Z1. Thanks in advance.

No idea actually if it will work. On the 2011 Xperia phones - You could flash various basebands and corresponding basebands libraries, and maybe if we could find the place / files that is corresponding to the equal libs on 2013 line-up - things would be much easier!

Why do You wanna do that? Moving back to 4.1.2 and risking Sudden Death Syndrome with initial version of firmware is not recommended at all.
You had OTA update. You don't need to dowgrade your software. Download Sony Update Service and reflash your phone with latest available 4.2.2 for Your region.
Or, if You are more advanced user, download latest FTF and flash it yourself. But, I recommend Sony Update Service.
NOTE: Backup everything before flashing. That is a must.
the reason is going slower the device and battery drain faster.
its not way to do that?
to go back to 4.1.2?

No, it is a reason to flash clean version of the firmware a.k.a. factory reset with newest firmware.
I have latest firmware, and battery have little better autonomy, but UI is faster, more responsive and lag-free. Try this first.
Again, do the backup before. Contacts, SMS, photos... But not system settings and any stuff like that. You will adjust it again after flashing.
We have already fixed 4.2.2 update i guess you are on ..423 frimware
If yes and you feel the phone slow. Then flash latest firmware. 244
This is Central Europe customization
Unbranded, no bloatware just few apps like officesuite mcae fee.. They can be uninstalled

Maybe he doesn't know how to use Flashtool.
i ask if i can go back to 4.1.2 not flash 4.2.2
i know how to use flashtool dude.
its safe to do that?
its anyone here to know this phone release stock firmware?its 4.1.2?or older?
i am on 4.2.2 firmware.
Again, You have to do factory restore. Do it with latest 4.2.2. Try it. If it's still defective as you say it is, You must RMA it.
4.1.2 is not better than 4.2.2. I don't believe that You are the only person in this forum who's phone suffers from 4.2.2 upgrade.
Do the factory clean install of newest firmware. If it is not good still, Your phone is no good.
its ok i do this....!!!!!
why you say the phone is not good?
i make factory reset now...
It may be defective in some way. Latest 4.2.2 have to work on Xperia Z like buttery smooth. Especially after factory reset.
I recently got a C6606 T-Mobile branded Xperia Z. It is network unlocked though I am on T-Mobile. It is running the 10.3.1.E.0.191 Android 4.2.2 factory ROM.
Got a couple questions.
Firstly, I would love to root it. Nothing seems to be working. From my reading rooting this ROM is hit or miss. Any tips?
Second, I am assuming the stock ROM is odexed.
I would also like a camera app or addon that will give me full manual mode on the camera. Any out there that will work on a stock ROM?
If I change my customization to that of the international C6603 and install a 4.3 ROM will I lose the LTE and have to use the *#*#INFO#*#* menu to re-enable it or will I be SOL?
Any good guides on installing ROMs? Can I install a custom ROM with a locked bootloader?
I need some clarification regarding android and radio baseband.
I'm running latest cm-11 nightly and my baseband version is XXUEMK1
Is this radio included in the cyanogenmod ROM or is it a separate partition that wont get updated with a ROM flash?
I've found the thread with a list of different radio ROMS for the i9305. Are these optimized for different countries or will they work regardless of country?
Is there a way to backup my current radio if I want to try a different radio and need to revert? XXUEMK1 is not listed in the thread with all the ROMS.
Found some information in another tread:
Baseband / Modem / Radio - This is the software that manages your connection to wireless networks, be that voice or data. Unlike unrooted users, you can download and flash any number of i9300 (Versions for other models WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE) or i9305 radios pulled from official ROMs. I wouldn't waste too much time on them. Usually what your official ROM comes with in your country / for your carrier, is the most optimised for you. Try a few by all means but don't waste time testing every last one.
Be aware that Samsung official ROMs come with a baseband. Often this means Samsung based custom ROMs may also do so. Some ROMs which install using the Aroma installer (A kind of set-up wizard) may give the option to not flash the baseband. AOSP ROMs almost never come with a baseband. When you flash a ROM withotu a baseband, the previous baseband remains. You can by all means, mix and match ROMs and basebands. You are not tied to the baseband with the same build number as the ROM. For example, if you are on XXEMB1 ROM, you definitely do NOT have to stay on the XXEMB1 baseband.

I've kind of same issue.
My SIII LTE is working fine with CM10 but when I upgrade to CM11, it doesn't work anymore :crying:
I've almost everything working apart from the MODEM and for a phone, I'm sorry to say that it is annoying
I'm using my S II with OMNI ROM and I miss my S III :crying:
Any help will be welcome :good:
I attached a screenshot of my system.

Sorry there's nothing to present you the requirements you have described. You can stay on the stock ROM if you would like. If you still want to use a 4.4 ROM, expect to not see Bravia, XLoud, ClearPhase. LED Notification will still work, obviously.
Hello xda Community,
I've downgraded the baseband on my p880 to v10h due to some issues with GPS and provider signal.
I've used some custom roms before and the issues appeared at some update when I was on MoKee rom but I can't remember which update it was. The downgrade improved the phones performance and I have no issues with GPS and signal.
My Question: If I Flash a custom rom, - will it also update my Baseband? Say I'll flash a 4.3 Rom (I'm currently on 4.0.3) will it update my Baseband aswell to v20x?
Thanks in advance.

Don't think so. I haven't even really seen any indication that the community understands HOW to update the baseband firmware. This phone has the radio on an entirely different chip with dedicated flash and ram for it. There are soft switches to throw (look but do not touch) in the hidden menu that switch the USB port over to it for flashing but nobody seems to know how to make use of that knowledge other than the official LG utilities. Flashing a third party ROM is entirely about replacing the unencrypted/unsigned partitions on the main application processor's flash.
