no sim card after sim-unlock crack flashed - Moto X Q&A

it worked earlier today when i cut my new fresh cricket sim card and now it doesn't detect it. Is this a software bug or hardware defect?

What did you do between then and now? What did you flash? Xt1053?
root, roms, and themes.. oh my!

no root, no unlocked bootloader... 4.4.4
it's sprint moto x. Just flashed the files from the sim-unlock crack. I cut out my brand new sim card to make it fit on the moto x. It read it the first few times then after a few hours it doesn't even detect it. I know the sim card isn't the problem because my other phones LG G Pro and Nokia Lumia 630 detect it and I'm able to use service perfectly.

the phone is SIM unlocked; you can use on any GSM carrier.

I'm almost positive that you should be able to pop in any sim card, pre- or post-paid, and it should work...
i just tested it with a nextel chip with a plan but no data service and i still get no bars??? i will try to put up some pics....please help if ya can...thanks
As far as I know Nextel doesn't use GSM networks it has it's own iDEN network, I don't know what the difference is, or if it should work with a GSM receiver but I can't say I'm surprised it doesn't work. Also from what I've heard, the phone has only received FCC certifications on T-Mob and AT&T for the phone you have, Verizon passed separately. Again, don't know if this helps, but I'm not shocked it doesn't work. Your phone is carrier unlocked, it came that way from HTC and unlocking the bootloader has nothing to do with which carriers it will work with.
no all i did was i bought it on a tmobile network through google then i had unlock the bootloader then rooted the phone now is there a way to use differ carriers??? i did not buy it unlocked......from google.....so is there a way ?

Dude... your question is moot! The phone, even if bought on a T-mobile line, IS NOT LOCKED TO ANY SPECIFIC CARRIER! You can pop in ANY GSM SIM CARD, and it will work. I bought mine on a T-mobile upgrade... but I can throw in an AT&T, Rogers, Fido, Vodaphone, etc., SIM, and it will work just fine.
o okay will try it out with att thanks...

You should contact Verizon for an unlock code. If they won't provide you with one then you need to contact one of the sites on the Internet and purchase an unlock code for your phone.
Unlike a lot of previous HTC devices, a software solution to SIM unlock your phone no longer works on the IncS.
Thanks for the info...
I don't know how it is in the States but here in Gemany I usually got such a code with every SIM-card I bought... Maybe search dow your papers?
EDIT: OH sorry, got that wrong... Thought your SIM is locked not your phone SIM-locked Confuusing

Anybody with TMobile Moto X with KitKat?

It's a widely discussed topic that tmobile moto x is carrier unlocked.
But I just read thread that somebody with verizone moto x is starting to receive unknown/supported sim when they insert other sim, after upgrading to kitkat. Verizone was unlocked too just like tmobile.
So I am wondering it's the same case with tmobile version too. Can anybody with same version/update confirm this?
I have owned my T-Mobile Moto X since yesterday, and it ships with Jellybean. I put my AT&T sim card into it before booting up, and it was working fine. I then upgraded to KitKat, and the network was still working fine, even with the AT&T sim. So in short, the T-Mobile Moto X still recognizes other carrier sim cards after upgrading to KitKat.

[Q] Sim card error

Does anyone know why my moto x might be eating every sim card i insert into the phone? Sim cards only last about 2 weeks in the phone before a little red icon appears in the notification tray and says no sim inserted. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Its not fun going back and forth to the bell store and getting a new sim card.
Thanks
I would try and get the phone replaced sounds like something is wrong with the SIM card slot on the phone

One sim card biting the dust happens, if it has been two or three then there is likely something wrong with the phones hardware. I assume you're using proper nano sims and not something cut down?
Or the Moto X just doesn't like Bell, which would make it a very smart phone

yeah I'm using proper nano sim cards lol. But anyways, I guess i need to send it out for repair. Does anyone know what can cause this problem though? or just a hardware malfunction?

Sim Card Not Compatible

So not only is AT&T locking out bootloaders now, but they're making it so you can't easily swap sim card from phone to phone. My boyfriend just bit the bullet Tuesday and got a S5 on the next plan.. gave me his S4 to play with. I successfully have root and slim rom installed on it... however when I put my sim card from my S5 into the S4, it cannot read it... thinks there's no sim card. When I put his old sim card back in, it reads fine saying "not improvisioned" so I know it's not hardware related. I've tried the sim on both rooted stock AND slim rom (which is 4.4). I was hoping to use this as a secondary phone :crying: now I'm curious if my daughter's iPhone 5s' sim will work in it...
If I wanted this I'd go to Verizon! WTF!
Well the old sim from the S4 is more than likely dead since he took the number to the S5, as for the S5 sim it has that security on it and I think over in the S4 group you can find a program that runs on the xposed module that stops the phone from checking the sim.

its the difference between the type of sim that is used the S5's use an encrypted micro sim versus the S4 which is a standard microsim. you'd have the exact same problem between any two devices with different types of sims no matter who the carrier was.

I don't think this is problem. I put card from old S3 to my S5 and have zero problems.
Swiping from dark side of Galaxy S5.
I put the SIM from my S5 into my S2 Skyrocket (with an adapter) and the Skyrocket worked just fine. Skyrocket is running CM11.
Maybe if I went to AT&T and told them I wanted to be able to use both an S4 & S5 they'd give me a new sim card that's not encrypted?? When I first got my S5 my S3 card worked in it for about 24 hours, then said it was not improvisioned because it had switched over to the new card. If I had never followed their instructions (per the insert with the phone) and entered the new Sim card's information online I would still be using the same un-encrypted sim from my S3.
I really miss root & CM11
Go to bestbuy and buy a simcard for your s4, its 30$ and its just a standard simcard we use on every micro sim device. (I work there)
