[Q] N4 Wireless Charging Pins Same as N3? - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was just wondering whether the wireless charging receivers for the Note 3 can be used for the Note 4. Does anybody know?

No... They aren't the same - unfortunately

It took a little digging, but I finally found it! Ready for pre-order here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OFKS4WM
Mind you, there is a warning that it may interfere with NFC and S-View functions of the Note 4!

Of course not. Do you honestly think for one second that Sammy, or any manufacturer, would let you use the same accessories without buying new ones? Lol [emoji12]

Output is just 600mA... That's a piece of crap and really expensive... I always get 1000mA pads for $8-$12 on ebay... (usually are blue too, but with 1000mA... Honestly... Done it Already for the Note 2 & 3... Still waiting this year for them to show up on ebay...As soon as I see them, will post link... Promess... Don't buy those...
Here is a spare one I have as proof...

Too bad stock limits charging to 460mA. With cm or different kernel can bump that up to about 700mA. I wish the phones could go up to 1000mA when wirelessly charging.

Hmmm, if what you are saying is correct, then except for price I didn't do so bad! I'm not sure if I will be flashing any custom ROMs or kernels, but it is something to consider just to get wireless charging a little faster. Why is there a limit, is it due to safety issues?

Actually there was a Kernel for the Note 2 that was modified to 850mA... Anyway... That's a really good question about the limit... Also, if you get the 1000mA pad you also have to make sure that the charging station also gets to at least 1000mA... (almost all of the cheap ones on Ebay also go up to 1000mA) But that's something to consider... In case you get the 1000mA receiver pad but your station is just 700mA...
Also @RaymondPJR...
If you got it thru amazon, you can just cancel order... Go to my orders on Amazon and you will se a Cancel button... Specifically on orders that will not ship until later... (credit card is also not charged until shipment) Just a hint that you probably already know... in case you really want to cancel...
I am 100% sure the pads I am talking about will show up really soon on ebay. I am a huge fan of wireless charging... Lol

Back in the day I did my own Wireless charging mod for my S3 and bought a receiver pad from Verizon. It was for one of the Lumias, I think. It shouldn't be too hard to find out what it's limit is, although I suspect it would be at the lower level. I think I'll just keep the order, however, I don't mind what Ive paid for it.

You know how Sammy is. The phones accessories aren't compatible with each other (For money of course). The batteries are all different shapes and sizes so that no battery can be used on another Galaxy phone.
So no, they aren't compatible.

I'm having a change of heart since I saw a totally round Qi charging puck for only $22.00! It's beautiful although I haven't looked up it's specs yet. If development were moving faster it would be easy. Here's to a successful custom recovery real soon !!!

Fake vs. Real Battery: Can you spot the real one?

I'm writing this so that you don't get SCAMed as I've already seen in several topics on the Accessories forum.
I know many of you would rather by OEM (myself included), yet many of you are paying full price for an imitation.
Now, there is nothing wrong with the imitation batteries on ebay, they work just as good as the real ones.
However It's just sad to see people paying like 50 times more for something that can be bought cheaply
there are honest ebay sellers that do tell you it is not the real battery, there are the type of sellers you should buy from.
not the ones adverting FAKE ones as "Real" ones.
Here they are side by side, can you tell the difference?
{

It should be rather clear, ironically the FAKE one has a better build than the OEM ones.
Now look again at the pictures advertised on ebay or whatever place you should happen to buy them at
They are all the same as the fake one.
pictures taken by SGS i9000m
The 1st on the first picture and the 2nd on the second picture are the original batteries
A bit redundant if you don't tell us which and what differences to look for.
is too early to tell, i'll let more people try on their own before giving out the answer, but there are plenty of hints already
My battery is original, and looks like neither of these, yet is G7. It doesn't have a QR code for starters, but that's maybe because its a EB575152VU.
Everyone is happy with imitation batteries.. Until they overheat, melt, or have other problems. So, you need to decide if you want to take the risk. If you buy off ebay, just go 3rd party. If you want originals, go to an authorised service center or dealer.
You also say ALL fakes on eBay are that specific fake one? How can you prove this? Having sold apple equipment in the past, we found there were many different looking kinds of fakes. Many generally were similar (and that might hold for now), but it generally isn't true long-term..
Just remember, if you buy a fake, the person who made them know you are a sucker (and they aren't interested in making you happy, only making money). This means they just need it to seem plausible enough to be real (they can ship it with 1400mah, and barely anyone would notice). It can use the dodgiest cells on the planet, and as long as they take a while to die, it's ok too.
Either buy genuine from a trusted dealer, or go third party. It isn't always easy to identify counterfeits.

No. Left battery looks most like mine does, applies to both pictures. Seems like that doesn't necessarily mean it's a real battery though.
At closer inspection, my battery says EB575152VU and not EB575152vu as the left battery does and mine is MADE IN CHINA / FINISHED IN KOREA, they are otherwise identical.
I'm assuming Samsung didn't supply me with a fake battery for my phone.

Yepp, you have a battery that looks exactly like mine does (barring the serial#/mfgdate obviously).
Assuming all batteries Samsung supplies with the phones are exactly the same, they're BOTH fake.
I would assume the difference on model# is because that particular battery is made and finished in China while our batteries are made in china and finished in Korea. There's really nothing that says the left one is fake.
@ OP. OK now I am really confused (not difficult) Are both the one in my pic and the one I bought from eBay fake? They look identical apart from that little bit of print above the "G7"
First picture, right battery says "made in japan/made in japon/made in corea" Something is fishy there. Besides, it doesn't look like mine does.
As for the second picture, the left battery looks pretty much identical to mine. I'm assuming the batteries are not swapped simply because of that.

A straight answer would be helpful please or I will assume your just flaming. The two you refer to seem to say both fake and real. So I respectfully ask again are both my and the eBay pictures of fake batteries?
The batteries supplied with your phone are real.
But, honestly, this discussion is a waste of time anyway, because fakes aren't always obvious.. The assumption that they always look the same is wrong

[Q] Extended battery 3000mah

is this for real? here is the link :
http://www.lelong.com.my/htc-touch-...o-battery-3000mah-75157308-2010-12-Sale-P.htm
ive asked the selller too and they are confirmed that the extended battery is for htc hd2 t8585. So my questions are:
1. Is this a real product or just a scam? because when i googled, there is no such thing as 3000mah extended battery for htc hd2. i even searched the forum too.. no such topic found >.<
2. Since there is no type of brand mentioned, is it safe? i don't want a leaking battery or an explosive on my pocket. So is the battery safe? how do i check before i buy it? any method of checking it?
3. is there any effect on my os? like compatibility issue or anything? eg : im using dezire z build.
4. any opinion or suggession on extended battery? im from malaysia btw.
1/ That is a REAL physical product, but it may work, it may not, or it may destroy your phone, lol. No one can ensure about its quality.
2/ Look at 1/
3/You must try it yourself, because there are around 10000 factories around the world can manufacture that kind of product, and I assume less than 0.1% of them are certificated by HTC! Someone would use the same looking battery at yours, but how can you ensure yours and his were from the same factory?
4/ I've seen on Ebay some sellers advertise that they selling the genuine extended battery (BP E400 2300MAH). Hope those aren't fake products but who knows?
My experience: I'm using a Duracel External Power 1000mAh (similar to Enegizer Xpal Power 1000) for emergency recharge. It doesn't look cool but at least it's cheaper and safer for my hd2.
The guy couldn't even attach the right photo to the auction. It is not an HD2.
I would rather buy these. Tried them both, the official gives more juice, but the other one doesn't make the phone that thick and is a lot cheaper.

Wow! how much is that? Does it work for android and WinMo?
Without even making this thread, don't you think it's a little weird that the image shown is clearly not an HD2 ?
They both work on winmo and Android. Some roms might have problems dealing with extended battery support.
Official around 25GBP on ebay, used to be more than 40GBP
The one from China 7-11GBP on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EXTENDED-HIGH...sAccessories_PDABatteries&hash=item3f02604bf4
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GENUINE-HTC-B...850?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2eb00db4aa
Official is 2300Mah, the cheaper one has 2400Mah written on it, but I doubt that, coz it is slimmer and the official lasts longer for me.
I started seeing the cheaper one with 2600Mah on it on ebay, that must be fake if the size is the same. But if you put this fact aside it is a decent battery with a nice rubbery feel cover which fits perfectly. Kicstand broke glued it in normal position.

Haven't tried wp7 yet. For me android development just got to the stage I was dreaming about. No issues/bugs for me with MDJ HD4.6+hastarin. I am gonna wait a lot before trying wp7. Again the official one works just fine, 2 days, accurate %drain details and it costs 25GBP.
If it is not compatible with your fav android rom, you can sell it and use 2 stock size original batteries which isn't that convenient but still better than a built in non removable battery what lots have in a phone I don't even want to talk about :-D
I dont recommend the china cheapo's. They have magical mah. Why? Because they dont really last that longer. I bought one from ebay, and the kickstand brke like 5 minutes after i took it out from the packaging. And, it looks fugly. After that, i bought the official one from ebay, and it works great. Only problem is, android needs eb drivers for it to work, but in wp7 it works (crazily, but it does xD).
I stand on the OEM side as well.
There is an another option to consider if you have money.
The mugen 2600Mah battery for hd2 which is a quality product for 69.99 dollars.

That's 16% of the Device's cost !
Does it make my phone fly ? .. I mean I'm not buying a power mat, it's just a battery ! It shouldn't be that expensive
So does anyone have those battery I thought of buying one, but I'm not sure is wort of spending so much money on them, but Htc really made mistake with battery of 123omAh for HD2
I have bought the 2600mAh mugen battery together with the extended battery case. so far this battery is giving me around 3 days of continous use with me running android off the sd card. on wino 6.5 i was getting around 4 days.
the build quality on the case is questionable though as the clips on it have already cracked after 3 days of use. mugen have been good replying and they will send me another at no extra cost.!!
As for me the extended battery i bought was very cheap and it works very well. The only drawback is that winsmob doesn't show the actual amount of battery i have left. This doesn't seem to be the problem while using android on sd card. One needs to pull the battery in order to make the phone know the battery still has a lot to give.
I was able to go 2 day and like 4 hours.
I played game for more than 2 hours, listened to music for more than 4 hours and surfed a little bit. As far as i can tell, this result is acceptable. I bought the battery for 7.49 euros in total.
Hey jzack,
when it comes to batteries I recoment always to be careful. There are a lot of products out there not working properly. BUT: most replacement batteries (for all kind of electronics) work just fine, for a while. They really do. What's wrong with them is not that they are not working... it's the specs!
First: Nearly none of them have the capacity with which they are labeled. Take at least a third off, that's the real value for capacity with most noname products.
Second: They do not last very long in most of the cases. Since Batteries are build nearly all the same, the quality of the materials & chemicals and the quality of maufacturing makes the difference! Now try to imagine how good noname products are at these points!
Third: In many cases the Phone is not correctly reading the charge, so it is sometimes worth the money bying original stuff. Not having the correct leftover of energy on my screen is a no go for me.
In a nutshell: you can by "cheapos" anytime, with a little bit of risk of course. They will do good for a while.. or not. If they last half a year fo 5$, it's ok. They also could be down to half the capacity after 3-4 month... then buy new ones, since they are so cheap! (which is not the most ecological way I think)
I personally would rather buy 1 or 2 of the standard HTC batteries (or brandname standards) and swap 'em. One always in the bag, one in the car...or in the office... whatever. They are strong, keep the capacity up for a long time and do not cost too much.
Swapping is easy, many HD2 cradles with spare battery charge function are out there on ebay and the Phone itself stays sleek (the bigger battery cover makes it so ugly!) and it still fits in the sleeve/case or pocket. All stays like it is, you just add 1 or 2 spares. And a quick boot for a battery swap isn't really an issue now, is it?
I like that solution much more. But that's probably just me...
hope this helps a bit,
regards,
Myrixamophit

I told a friend of mine which phone I was going to buy. He didn't know what the 'Nexus S' was. I told him that it was like a Galaxy S, and then he nodded. After that, I showed him some pictures, and he lloved how the Nexus S looks!

I am totally against what OP said.
I have batteries granfathered from Behold II and Moment and they work 10000%.
Soft and hard cases are available now.
I don't worry about charger because it's microUSB.
It doesn't have memory support so you have one fewer headache.
What else do you want?

Why did Verizon choose to disable Wireless Charging capability?

We all know that Verizon has made some pretty asinine decisons over the years, especially in regards to eliminating certain funtionality and features on their phones.... but for the life of me I cannot figure out why they would choose to essentially "cover up" the wireless charging capabilities of this great phone!
Do they actually NOT want to make a boatload of ca$h on special NFC/wireless charging battery covers and charging mats???!!!
There is no rationale behind this that I can think of whatsoever!
In case anyone wants to know the reason for my frustration... the Verizon version of the Note II has an inner cover that covers the wireless charging contacts (the inner cover is what is exposed when the battery cover is removed). The AT&T version has fully functional wireless charging capability out of the box...minus the battery cover & charging mat.
This problem can be remedied with a little tinkerinh which involves removing this inner cover, but the sad thing is that none of this extra work should even be necessary. Plus... wouldn't it have actually been more cost effective for Samsung & the carriers to use the same components wherever possible? This was an unnecessary variance from what should hve been the standard.
Just pretty crappy that this flagship device is missing this wireless charging feature that continues to grow in popularity industry wide.
...Maybe Verizon is counting on the micro-USB port life expectancy being just about when the warranty is expired so they can make their money on people needing new phones before they're due for an upgrade!
Sorry guys... had to vent. I definitely have a Love-Hate relationship with VZW!

wow no kidding
I was actually in the store to hear first hand why. A customer coming from an iphone (he announced) was interested in the Note 2. His friend had the ATT version and he was excited to have a phone that could do wireless charging.
customer: I want to get the note 2, does it come with the wireless charging accessories or do I have to buy them separate?
verizon salesguy: The Note 2 doesn't have wireless charging built in, but the New Droid DNA does, let me show you.
customer: okay!
word for word. So frustrating to see their evil BS work. They make money licensing the "DROID" name so they make more money from droid phones. Horse droppings.
To be fair doesn't it take about a decade to charge the note 2 wirelessly?
I don't like using 1a chargers on mine because they take so much longer than the stock one and as far as I know wireless charging supplies even less than that.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I never thought about the Droid DNA being a possible reason for them to intentionally disable this feature, but knowing how VZW likes to promote the Droid line as the preferred choice, that does make sense.
I agree that wireless charging a 3100mAh battery will take a lot longer. I would think most people would use it as a bedside charger while they're sleeping, or at work, if they have an office job.
It would be very convenient to not have to fumble with a micro USB connector, especially when lighting is poor, or when you're picking your phone up every several minutes while at work.

Verizon has made it clear that the note is not their flagship device, but in fact the dna is.

I use wireless charging with my AT&T N2 and it charges from 40% in a couple hours.. I only charge at night when im sleeping though so as long as it charges within 6 hours I could care less.. and I wake up at the 4 hour mark and its at 100% so its fast enough for me... and slower charging is actually better for the battery. I understand if you needed a quick pick me up why it wouldnt be good.. but im a HEAVY user and with the N2 and its massive battery, ive never needed to charge it during the day... so for my needs, its perfect.
Sent from my AT&T Galaxy Note II /w wireless charging.
At the verizon I went to my rep tried the same thing on me. I went in specifically for the n2. He asked me if I had seen the dna, I said I heard of it and saw a couple of reviews on it. He asked if I wouod be interested in that instead. I said does it have a 3100mah battery, a stylus, removable battery or a micro sd slot... he said no. I said might as well get an iphone5 if thats the case. I came in for the n2 and only the n2.... couldnt be happier...... fyi. I finally convinced my wife to ditch her icrap5 and take over my s3

Well that explains the extra time until they released it. I wonder if the contacts are still there under the plastic?
Also, why don't they put wireless chargers in dash mounts?? Seems like a no brainier there.
There are a couple youtube videos showing what needs to be done to re-enable the wireless charging. The contacts are definitely there under the freaking plastic cover. They do not appear to be "raised" contacts like on the AT&T version or the Galaxy S3, but they are indeed there.
Sprint version does not have it either.
Maybe the cdma versions were built in the same place

If I'm not mistaking the one on the left is the International version and I believe the round connector might be for the radio.

You can actually do 2 things.
1) Buy the housing from the ATT/International version and replace the VZW one with extreme ease, and then you can solder on contacts and make yourself a Qi compatible back cover.
2) Just get some copper tape (I think is what he used) and then get the Palm Touchstone or whatever and the Palm door and do the same minus replacing the housing.
Just an idea, but do you think it's possible to drill a couple of precise holes through the thin plastic inner cover to gain access to the contacts directly underneath? And then drop in some spring pins?
Yes if you do it really careful and do not damage the circuit beneath. ..there is a video on YouTube showing that it does work. .

ok first of all vzw reps do not sell the dna over the note2 because they get paid more and vzw hasnt asked them to offer the note2 over the dna, what most likely happened is a biased opinion of a rep, a lot of reps in my store for some reason like the dna more, there are reasons its better but but there also reasons its not, and on the issue of the charging who knows why vzw didnt include it, but the s3 wireless charging took a while to come out too, just be interesting how they do it though since pins are covered.

Not having access to the wireless charging prongs really REALLY angered me when I took the back cover off my brand new Note 2. After seeing the international version, I was all excited to implement magnetic charging. I was shocked and angered when I didn't see the prongs!! Will have to decide if I want to crack the phone open and figure out an alternative solution....the frustration!

So...you're going to mod the phone and defeat the waterproofing and then if because of your carelessness it gets wet you will have AT&T replace it even though it was your fault. And people wonder why phone companies lock bootloaders and stuff.

No, I have never have had water damage on a phone and don't plan to(see my sig to see how many devices I have had and not a single problem). I highly doubt it will happen so I would rather have a feature like wireless charging over something I will never use like waterproof. If it does get wet I will think about what I should do, I do have insurance so I can always use that. If AT&T offers to replace it I will let them but I do not plan on lying, if it comes up I will let them know how the water got in.

Was just going by what you said earlier, " I like wireless charging over taking it in the water with me. If I accidentally drop it in water AT&T will replace it one time. Win win for me." Which sounds a lot different than what you are now saying. No way AT$T will replace a modded phone, so you'd either have to lie or hope they don't discover it.

First off it isn't modded, there is an insert in it... I will be honest with AT&T but will explain I have water damage. I guess what I meant was I will have a better chance of talking them into replacing than if I had another smartphone. Either way I don't think I have to worry about it, sorry to piss you off

The point is that if, in your own scenario, the phone gets water damaged, it will have been your own fault. You defeated the water-resistance. Getting AT$T to replace it is unfair the same as if you had damaged the phone by flashing a custom ROM on it. Too many people do these things and then somehow (whether by deceit or not) get AT$T to replace their phone leaving the rest of us to have to pick up the tab for it in higher prices or locked bootloaders. If you are using XDA then you should know that what you are doing to your phone is probably not covered by the manufacturer defect part of your warranty. Accept that responsibility if something goes wrong and don't try to pass it onto the carrier. I have had two phones replaced under warranty since 2010. Both were rooted and one was running a custom ROM. Both suffered from random shutdowns, which were later acknowledged to be a defect. Had they failed due to something I caused I would have just sucked it up and bought another phone. Not because I'm better than anyone else, but because I take responsibility for my actions. I hope you do too.:good:

I agree but you are missing my point... I WILL tell them exactly what happened if they say tough then I will use my insurance to replace, if they replace them I will be happy. I have always been an honest person when it comes to this stuff and I do not plan on lying now. Usually the AT&T reps will work with you... So far I have had AWESOME service by them.
I doubt it will even happen though so I am not worried
btw AT&T is suppose to reimage phones before sending them out... it is their normal process. And if you have modded your phone and returned it you should restore to factory defaults either way. Not saying that it is ok but just say it is lazy not to.

It's not a waterproof phone, it's a water-resistant phone, and there is a huge HUGE difference.
Also, with respect to these wireless chargers and having to remove the stock battery cover to do it, are you planning to charge your Active wirelessly under water anytime soon?
If not then there's no issue with this methodology whatsoever.

Water-resistant because it can't stay in that environment permanently, just for short periods of time (with fully drying off between "dunkings" as well).
Water can and will get into most anything given enough time, so this is just highly resistant to water "infiltration" one could say, but that's only if the battery cover is properly attached/latched in place.
of course
of course you can go ebay ,or some online store. such aulola.com

Thanks
Can someone please answer this question I want to buy one asap.
Will the qi wireless receiver for s4 work on the s4 active. (I do not care about waterproofing if this helps)
