Anyone tried wireless charging using the Qi receiver on Moto G 2014 ??
Any ideas /views whether it can be done ??
It already works on the Moto G 2013 model.

I think you've misunderstood the question. NFC has nothing to do with QI wireless charging.

The pics I have posted here, are with the module installed..
I have (two) Moto G 4G LTE (1st Gen.) with a slip on case..module charges fine with these also..

I installed the qi receiver from a company called bluboon into my wifes moto g2. I bought it off amazon for 6.95 dollars. The plug that goes into the usb is slimmer that most other universal qi receivers. It protrudes maybe 1mm. And its chrome not black, the plug. Also the length of the cord is perfect, putting it exactly in the middle of the phone. I put it on the battery underneath the stock back cover. The cover went back on no problem. No bulge or anything. I also used tasker to make the phone do a quick vibrate and beep when put on the qi charging pad. It doesnt get hot, charges just like my n5 at a good rate, and charges through her case. She loves it.
Tldr: works perfectly, imo everyone should throw a qi receiver under the stock back cover of their moto g 2014.

I really like this one. Did you order the narrow face up or down? What receiver do you use with it?
I really don't want to waste money experimenting with what works.

You can find receivers on eBay, Amazon, DealeXtreme and various other sites. You just need to buy a "universal" receiver that is listed as "A" or "narrow interface up" (as opposed to "B" or "narrow interface down"). In other words, you need a receiver designed to work on phones with the USB port at the bottom center of the phone with the narrow side of the port facing the front of the phone. I recommend buying one that doesn't protrude from the port too much, like the BLUBOON receiver that Lokke9191 already mentioned; its port cover is ~1mm. It looks like the same receiver is currently less expensive on eBay. Another thing you may want to look for is higher rated output or charging current, but I don't know how honest the ratings are on these receivers or how much they actually vary.
There are countless Qi chargers available, and all of them should be compatible with the receiver you buy. Just pick one. Plates with three charging coils may be easier to use than plates with a single coil. I chose the Nokia DT910 because I wanted a more vertical charging surface, and the Nokia chargers have a good reputation.
thanks

Agreed, and also sometimes I want to use my phone while it's charging. A passthrough would be nice.
This case for the Moto X has USB passthrough and wireless charging:

I have the bluboon Qi reciever which worked fine on my xt1063 (global GSM) running KK (unlocked bootloader/rooted).
after upgrading my xt1064 (US GSM) to Lollipop (unlocked bootloader/rooted), it hangs on the initial bootlogo if I have the receiver plugged in and restart the phone. I don't know if it has to do with the way lollipop handles boot order (maybe its trying to read the receiver as a OTG device)?

So, I know the Note 2 uses a 2 amp charger. Are there any good car chargers that can output in 2 amps? I currently am using a Motorola one, and I think it's just 1 amp. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hope it wasn't the one I found. It SAYS 2A on the box but it has 2 USB ports and thus feeds 1A PER PORT.

That's the exact one I use as well. To give you an example, the Note 2 just can't be charged via standard USB port. 450mAh is not enough. I will see if I can do some testing to show you the differences visually this week.
Driving 45 min to pick up the last 64gb microSD card for sale in TN at radio shack (for $39) I had bluetooth on, sharing my data connection with my wifes tablet via foxfi, and using gps, the motorola still can charge the battery while all that was running. At my office, we would call that FM, because I can't really explain how it works just as good as my $15 2.1mAh charger.
What app are you guys using to measure charging rate?

I use a 3A charger in my car, but it's all wired in. Got myself one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-DC-Con...plies_ET&var=560164310799&hash=item3ccbaa5de8 , a 3 way switch, 2 'add-a-fuse' things and wired it all up behind the dashboard with just my Micro USB cable poking out in the drivers side of the dashboard, which plugged into my old car cradle when I had the HTC Sensation. The switch is mounted in one of the blanking plates down by my right knee (right hand drive) and lets me choose between off, on and on-with-ignition for the charger. At the moment I have to plug it into the bottom of the Note 2 myself but I'm planning next to de the wireless charging mod, and integrate the charger into the cradle I have, with NFC also in there to activate car mode when I put the phone in the cradle for (IMO) the perfect solution with no wires trailed all over the car, and my lighter socket free for other things
It was all pretty cheap as well, and an easy mod to do - even though the cradle is on the opposite side of the car to the fuse box and I had to pull out the whole radio and centre console to route the wires... all hidden away now though.
I'll be doing the same on my next car as well.
I was looking at *low profile* dual USB ported chargers but it appears from my lack of knowledge that these are all wired for iPad charging and without a specific charging cable they will only supply max 1A to the Note 2. Can someone with more technical knowledge of the vagaries of USB power please clarify in simple terms?
I would have thought the iPad would take a higher current than 1A
I have not seem Samsung has this product for Note 2 but see lots of 3rd party wireless chargers available on the market. Is there any difference or anything we should watch for such accessary for Note 2? Thanks!
The Sprint version doesn't support wireless charging, the international version does.

it's about both, you need both the receiver and transmitter for wireless charging.
I investigated wireless charging for a time, but it appears nearly all wireless chargers charge at a particularly slower rate (0.5A). With such a big battery on the Note 2, this leads to pretty crazy charge times. Having said that, there are 'some' chargers which are 1A, like so:

I just bought a 3rd party receiver sticker and charging pad. The receiver sticker is placed beneath the back cover. It works with Samsung charger comes with the phone. When I place my Note 2 on the pad, there is a pop up message saying "Wireless charging - You have placed the device within range. Now charging wirelessly...". I am testing how long it will take to have a complete charge. The initial feeling is that the charging is slower as compared with wired charging with Samsung charger.

Synergy Wireless Charger
Hi Bryan792 and jyan_osu,
Thanks for mentioning Synergy. I'd be more than happy to answer any additional questions anyone has in this forum. Synergy might disrupt the earth's magnetic field when using the Compass, but any receiver module with a magnet could have a similar impact on the earth's magnetic field. If you use the compass regularly, wireless charging may not be for you. Please note that we have not experienced any issues with the Note 2 pen.
For more information about Synergy, please go to Kickstarter.com and search "Synergy".
Thanks again.
Do you guys know if there is any way to charge our tablet wirelessly? Is Qi charger the only way? And it's not supported for the 1st gen, am I correct?
I really hate wires...
You have to mod to add a Qi wireless charging coil or a palm touchstone coil to charge wirelessly.
Or you can buy a pogo dock and use it to charge, it's close enough to wireless.

There's no such thing as wireless charging, you still need the wires (going to the desktop part of the charger) and when you use that method you don't have any choice where you put the device when it's on charge.
If you just plug a cable into the device you can plonk it down anywhere the cable will reach.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Google-Nexus-7-hack-adds-wireless-charging-voids-warranty_id37573
The short answer is of course no. Personally, I would try to opts away from attempting any mods like this; wireless charging is still; in it's infancy and is "a generation newer" than this Nexus 7 version.
WTF!!

I can't decide if you are just trolling or if you really are clueless.
In case you're serious, learn some basic physics before you shout your mouth off.
Right now - today - the only way to 'wirelessly' charge a device is to have an induction coil in it and put it right next to another induction coil which is connected BY WIRE to the mains. So while it's handy to be able to do that you can't just set it down anywhere and expect it to charge.
If it were possible to set up charging from a telephone mast miles away you would be dead from cancer (from the radiation) or cooked long before the device was charged up.
Take your own advice.
I'm not your brother.

Hi, simple math problem here. The cost of a nexus 7 1st gen (around USD 130.00 used on ebay), plus getting a coil from another device (USD 25.00 if you dont have it) maybe a broken palm pre or a touchpad on ebay, also a touchstone charger (maybe USD 25.00 on ebay) (you could also get a QI coil from another device, but then you will need the QI charger, and thats more money), That's USD 180.00, plus the shipping and the trouble of doing the mod and maybe breaking the damn thing. Let's say USD 200.00, the new nexus is USD 229.00 (IS IT WORTH IT).

You are wrong. You can wireless charge your phone (if it's capable of doing it) from the QI charger to the phone itself.
We know the QI charger must be connected in order to give power, but YES you can wireless charge your phone. I personally like to plug the damn thing, but is nice to just place your phone on the QI and let it charge by doing nothing else.

You've missed my point, sure there's no wire connecting the phone and the charger but you still have to put the phone physically 'on' the charger plate. I have a HP Touchpad and Touchstone and it's great to be able to just sit it down on the TS to charge but if I'm sitting on the sofa using it and it's low battery I have to stop using it and put it back on the TS charge it up, or plug a cable into it. In the real world you can call it wireless if you like but it's still got to be connected.

I did not missed your point, you were just to hard with him!!! JAJAJAJA, it's called wireless since there's no cable from the cradle to the phone, and of course it has to be connected to something, take care!!!.
Hard? no I prefer to think honest

Hmm. Thanks a lot guys for replies, and sorry for my late reply. I'll definitely consider the new nexus 7. I don't like modding hardware.

Wonder if that would work through a case.

If the case isn't too thick it probably would. My HP tablet charges on it's dock through a tpu case and even a couple of layers of leatherette case.

Not all LG G2s can wireless charge. Supported mostly on Verizon G2s If I recall. Any Qi compatible charger would work.

I have D802 Italian....
I have read in the specs of the 802, that it is compatible with standardi qi wireless....but i have some doubt....
Hi all,
I would like to know if anyone knows if there is a wireless charger compatible with the LG2 D802, please ?
I saw in the net this things but i don't know if i need to add this to my phone for the wireless charger...
Best regards.
+1 any news please ? Thank
Yes that micro usb QI charger will work with the G2. It sticks onto the back of the phone, or you may fit it between the phone and a case.
The charge will be between 0.4mah and 1mah which is slower then using the cable and plug supplied by LG,
Well, thank you for the advice.
But can you tell me what is the best solution for an Qi wireless charger for the LG2 d802, please ?
Best regards.

Are you asking if your phone supports wireless charging or what charger to use? If it's already wireless capable, any QI charger will work. If it's not you'll need to add a module like the one you posted and use it with any QI charger you want. There's separate threads on chargers already open, take a look at them for suggestions.

I believe ONLY the VS980 Verizon model has Qi Charging. I have a Verizon model and charge off of the Nokia Charger from post 2, a Samsung S4 Qi Charger plate, and a cheap $10 Qi Chinese brand Qi plate. All work differently but work.
If you have another version of the LG G2 (non-Verizon) then you have to use the Universal Receiver Module from post #5. Several people have used it and confirmed it works.
Qi Wireless Charging is always slower then a fast charge USB charge. It is Faster then a slow standard 5v 500mAh charge though.
The Universal Receiver Module has a thickness that won't allow the super ultra thin feather cases to work. You'll need a TPU case or other to cover it up. The Nokia Qi Chargers are my favorite. They have a barrel plug for power, which sucks, but they have a very awesome placement sensors. Most Qi Chargers require placing the phone in a specific spot before it will sync up. The Nokia has several Qi transmitters in it so it is pretty easy to just drop and go.
AT&T Wireless had those Nokia chargers on sale for $5. I bought 2 (Office and Work). I use my Samsung microUSB Charging plate for travel.
Hi, thank you for yours replies !
At the moment I'm not at home so I will check your links when I comeback. But I see if I put the universal receiver module into my phone then I can't plug anymore my usb cable. I said that because if I want to switch from my normal usb charger and the universal module, I must need to unplug the universal receiver module, no ? Or it's exist an universal receiver with a usb plug integrated ?
For your info I have the QuickWindow case for the LG2. I hope it's compatible...
Thank you for your advices !
Best regards.
wireless charging pad for Verizon LG G2 VS980
I just received this wireless charging pad and it actually works! Only $3.48 USD with free shipping!!!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/281513176459
It doesn't come with AC adapter, only microUSB cable. It also doesn't seem to work with fast 2 amp AC adapters. I had to use an old 1A adapter. It doesn't affect speed since wireless is 1A maximum anyway. Just make sure have an old 1A adapter before you buy.

I have 3 of the Qi wireless TYLT chargers. They are great - they sit at a perfect angle to put on your nightstand or desk. They were pricey, but I got a 50% off coupon a while back and have 2 for our nightstands (husband and wife) and 1 for me at the office.
Thanks!
David.
Has anyone come across other wall Quick chargers that are smaller / lower profile than the motorola one? Looking for something a bit more conducive to traveling with.
Thanks!
i would like to have one smaller too

The charger above has a slimmer profile on a power strip than the Motorola "fat" pack (pictured below).
I'm still looking for a charger that is no wider than the typical charger like a Samsung or HTC charger. Something that fits easily in airplane receptacles. Can be as deep as needed I.e. extend off the wall or outlet...
Many protrusions prevent the Moto quick changer not able to seat all the way our at an awkward angle that allows the charger to fall out of the outlet easily.

The slim profile charger I posted above works fine for airplanes. My wife and I went to Brazil for two weeks earlier this month. We flew on 4 airplanes during that time -- Delta Airlines to and from Sao Paulo, and then Brazilian airline TAM to other places in Brazil.

That's interesting because from the photo you posted it looks to be just about as wide as the Moto charger across the face with the prongs. On Delta MD-88 particularly the faces hits the bevels and the blades dont go in all the way to make consistent contact.
MD90 is basically as bad:
But truthfully I forgot that I am holding out looking a QC2.0 true "travel" charger that has international tips. that isn't wide as a bus or at least the tips push the bulk away from the blades. Thankfully they have replaced nearly all those deep recessed outlets that were on B767 which I assume you took to Brazil..
So any ones with travel tips?

The other pictures on Amazon of the one you posted definitely show it look smaller profile on the prong face. So I can see it is in the right size range. now to find an international one.

Just telling you it worked for me.
On the way down I used just the charger, as is.
Coming back, I had high quality Brazilian plug adapter still connected to the charger (from using it in Brazil), so I kept that on while charging on the Delta flight back. Didn't see the need to remove the adapter, and possibly lose it.
You can buy one of those and there's your travel tips.
______
Another nice thing about the charger I found it is it automatically detects voltage and adjusts as needed. 100 volts - 240 volts. All the outlets in the charging stands at the Sao Paulo airport were 220 volts, while residential Sao Paulo uses 127 volts. Before I plugged it into the airport charging stand, I went back to the Amazon description just to make sure I wasn't about to burn up my phone or the charger...

Those things are BULKY lol. But yea they would do the trick. The best part about these higher quality chargers is that they can accept that wide voltage window without an external transformer. a la the old International Blackberry chargers. So if they just made them with the interchangeable tips there'd be nothing else to get. I need at least the UK, EU, and possibly Australian tips. So it's alot to keep up with when they are bulky like that but I guess I could just use one of those where they slid out different tips from the same cylinder.

and the designer of the moto charger should be smacked for making it unnecessarily larger in awkward orientation.
Wow talk about a product enough and it goes on sale for you.
