cyanogenmod.

I think for me it's mourta's liquidsmooth, I always had lags on official cyanogenmod (not the all time, but when my phone got it's bad mood, I just can't do anything).
I tried his LiquidSmooth with his 3.4 kernel and I can say that my phone now don't know bad mood , everything is just smooth. But it's still WIP, so some things are not working fully and I sometimes have OMX crashes (video stops playing and I have to restart the app). Anyway I prefer occasional minimise and maximise youtube to resume playback instead of restarting frozen phone.
You can find the rom at modaco forum, it isn't at xda (it's not an ad for another forum, I'm just trying to help)
If you install version with 3.4 kernel, flash the 3.4 kernel again separatly or you'll have very bad battery life (you can get it from another thread at mdoaco). Cpuquiet is not properly enabled in init.

[Q] Best rom for optimus 2x

Hello guys
I got an optimus 2x, and was planning to root it, or whatever you call it From day one, I was really dissapointed with the LG stuff, it got better with launcherPro, which made my homescreen much much faster and smoother. I think this phone has enormous potensial, but bad software. Therefore, since I am new to this forum, I am looking for the "best" root or rom thing for it. Maybe there is many different versions, but I like things clean, simple, fast and smooth. thats what she said.
Anyway, I've seen a friends rootet xperia, and he said he got some new UI with folders and stuff. I dont mind this, only it is good, and maybe it will be customisable still?
Problems Ive had with the phone: Random shuttdown, ugly apps like facebook for LG and antivirus etc. Buggy lockscreen. Battery goes to 0% when it randomly shuts down.
Is it wise to get 2.3 on the optimus 2x? I would love some inputs from you guys also, what you like the best and some general experience. Will I be able to update my phone when im rooted, like from the settings options from the phone? dno if this is important or not.
Anyway, links would be appriciated to official threads or direct links to your recomended roots/roms. Thanks
I have no experience with this, so a HOWTO guide or a youtube vid would be nice. Ive only done jailbreaking on 3.1.2 on 3gs
Cm7 is still in a nightly on the o2x but it has alot of bugs, i think. Mdc fr17 is very stable and fast, it's 2.2.2 though

If you want a clean, simple, fast and smooth ROM like you said ide go for the Modaco Fr17 Vanilla version -
http://android.modaco.com/content/l...om-rom-for-the-lg-optimus-2x-vanilla-edition/
This is also extremely stable as its based on the stock ROM but with all bloatware removed, also read some of the pinned topics on the links below, this will show you all you need to do.
http://android.modaco.com/category/506/lg-optimus-2x-2x-modaco-com/
For bleeding edge stuff, hope on the CM7 nightly train, but don't complain if it crashes.
If you want stability, then try the MoDaCo stock based ones.
You don't need much of a tutorial to do it, use SuperOneClick to gain root, grab ROM Manager from the Market and use that to install ClockworkMod Recovery... download the ROM you want, wipe & install (also via CWM if you don't want to fiddle)
Hi
If you don't want to install a custom ROM:
have a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037751
-Install latest firmware and baseband for your region (or another region if you prefer)
-root your phone
-Install ROM Manager from Market and install ClockWorkMod Recovery from there
-Install dexopt fix
Now that you have a good base, look in market for an app to uninstall system apps (I have used Root Uninstaller). To completely remove system apps I think you need to remount /system rw, else you can freeze apps for easy restoring if you mess up.
I would also recommend installing launcherpro from market (replace home screen and app drawer) and google stock lockscreen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033776&highlight=aosp+lockscreen
Thanks for the help guys. Im gonna try the Modaco Fr17 Vanilla version. I have an exam tmrow and will therefore not try it out until the afternoon. I also have to read some, and learn the difference between root and boot, and some of ur advance words havent found a real guide yet, but have the iso and all those other folders that was in the Modaco Fr17 Vanilla version.
great fun
I think the phone drain battery too fast in 2.2 (official rom)
I loose 40% of battery within 6 hours without using anything (when I'm sleeping during a night)
That's why I change to use 2.3 and I found that the battery problem is gone
I loose 1% in 12 hours.
I'm also new to the fun world of android. I've learned alot by simply reading threads and using google to explain som of the terms Read the roll up thread very thorougly, explains alot.
I'm now using CM nightly #31 and it's been very stable for me.
Just do some backups and start toying around with your phone, it's fun!
..but I like things clean, simple, fast and smooth = cyanogenmod!
So far, from temasek is the best.. he got a custom kernel too.

My Opinion,
Android 2.3 from teamsek. It is just brilliant.
Android 4.0 from xxMrHyde + Nova Kernel is quite good keeping in mind the state of ICS on the 2X.

i advice to newcomers to flash first a stable CyanogenMod build.
then when they want to go further flash a Custom Kernel (for CM7 i think the best one is Etana)
after that take what ever you want! Try, try and try.
but pay attantion to not become a flashacolic :silly:
try nove HD
Nova HD is also great . now im using it..

Me too, it's the best ICS Rom i've ever seen, no lags, super fast (@1ghz!) and IMO completely stable, just some little bugs.

HAPPINESS!! What MOD makes you device happy, Post Here!

Since I got my o2x i have been customing and upgrading trying to find its happiness and i can honestly say I have!!! My o2x is currently whizzing around like its on an overdoze of speed. I am a heavy user, I use my o2x for everything and I sometimes feel sorry for the poor thing. I have tried lots of customs roms and kernels but this worked so well for me I have to talk about it so here it goes.
If you are still reading I assume you have already rooted your device and currently have a stock rom on it, if not please don't ask me as I am not a developer and I am sure you know how the internet (google search) works. This is what worked for me and if it doesnt for you I am really sorry but find your own happiness.
Right to business:
1. Get on CM7 latest nightly
2. Follow Temasek http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421425 and get kanged
3. Swiftextreme kernel (wish that developer comes back to xda ) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1325183
3. Match RIL with get RIL (725 v10d, Europe) worked for me
Voila your o2x is now a superphone on speed, if it works for you, you will feel the difference.
Keep your tweaks (kangs and kernels) in a folder where you can easily update and recover. You will have to repeat the steps when updating kang.....no wipe necessary.
FYI: please note that I am a user and not a developer and I cannot be held responsible for your device....READ INSTRUCTIONS properly and always BACKUP before flashing (cos it makes people get a better view lol....sorry had to).
Does it work for you? Dont thank me thanks to all the great developers of the android community who are priceless and make priceless contributions.
Post your device's happiness. What is working for you?
Congrats! Our phone is really great when rooted and flashed a custom rom and kernel on it...
One thing is... SwiftExtreme is really outdated and you should try another kernel like:
Ironkernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359307
Vadonkas KANG kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427646
These kernels are I think better than swiftextreme
Enjoy in your new phone. You wont regret that

i know swiftextreme is outdated and thats what shocked me....i have tried ironkernel and it constantly crashes and for some reason Vadonkas kernel not working for me, phone doesnt boot nothing. I am on swiftextreme now and it is extremely stable quickly switching between apps. I can be gaming, tethering and replying to my messages everything, which with ironkernel it would start lagging and rebooting but this is really stable. Vandonkas look good and I might give it a go
Hmm these kernels should work with the latest kangs
what about camera? is it good? did you compared it with one on stock rom? IMHO low quality camera is the only, but huge disadvantage of custom roms that are not based on stock.
Yeah I know but for some reason just not working for my o2x. Wud be great to have a more up to date kernel but swiftextreme works really well. I'll keep following updates see if I get lucky

Congratulations, I'm really happy with my 2X too
My set is:
MIUI Moon101 + the last vadonka kernel + bb 824
The difference with the stock ROMs is really huge.
even though swiftkernel is outdated I think it is the most stable, using with latest wajkiui (2.1.20) vadonka looked interesting but my phone is constantly crashing with it :S, anyone else have the same with lastest wajkiui?
I totally agree with you, I've never had my phone this stable I don't close apps no more just switch between them. I hope it manages with the newest kangs.

I'm very happy with the following set:
- Leaked V20o with FD fix, my own battery mod, camera mod etc.
- HP SR2 Kernel
- Performance Pack V9
- very smooth V20o SQLite Libs for better scrolling
- some other mods like Supercharger etc.
cant agree with you.
i have tried cm7 and miui. both were wonderful, no complains. works perfect, looks great. except camera. maybe i need some camera mod or something else?
i'm attaching two photos. one with miui rom other with this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410662. can't you see difference? both made in same conditions with same battery cover.

[Q] Are CM7 roms fullly functional?

Tonight I'm getting a new LG O2X, and I've been reading about roms and stuff. I decided to install the CM7 Kang RC1 with Etana OC kernel, but first I'd like to know if I'm going to miss features like the front camera in skype/tango, or if the app "LG Touch LED Notifications" will work, which looks very useful because of the lack of a notification led.
If that kind of features don't work, I'll probably stick to a stock based rom. Thanks in advance!
No. To have perfect combo between stock and CM7 I use Hybrid ROM.
But 1080p playback is not working for me. Anyone knows why? On stock rom (2.2.2) i worked i think.
this one?
You mean this one?
I kinda have the same question, adding something else: how's the support for the Tegra video card? If we go out of the stock rom do we lose any performance over graphics and stuff?
Unless you run a modded kernel that allows OC; there isn't much of a difference between stock and CM when it comes to performance gains (+- since stock has a lot of crap that tend to slow down the device, but can be removed of course).
Temasek's CM7.2 UNOFFICIAL Build + IronkrnL 48MB RAM hack - everything is fully functional.

I installed that rom, build 100 and everything is working perfectly I installed ETaNa kernel just because I read people recommending it but I'm still not sure about what the kernel does besides allowing overclock (which I haven't done because I haven't felt it's necessary). Any other advantages?
Just want to confirm, Temasek knows his ****! : )
I was at first rather careful with ROM's and installed CM7 stable (1 year old ROM) on my LG 2x, just to see how it will work. After few months of good use (everything working just great) I suddenly couldn't enable data & 3G networks on the device. Then battery started to show weird issues, like phone will turn on itself and show that it's charging.
10 minutes I go I gave it leap of faith and installed latest Temasek's CM7 RC2-102, MIND BLOWN. Not only it works OOB without ANY issues, fixing the battery and data problem, installation just UPDATED my current ROM to Temasek's build, which means I didn't lose any settings, apps or ANYTHING.
Just install Temasek's builds, you won't regret it.
BTW, how to donate to Temasek, I couldn't find DONATE button?
Cheers!

Thank you.
No one rom is perfect. Soon you will find something not working or something u don't like. Overall cm7 is a very good rom.
Btw I don't ask for donations so u wont see any donation link.
Thanks.
everything is fully functional on cm7 since the fm radio was fixed (and that was a LONNNNGGG time ago)
only things that can be glitchy are the completely NEW features them devs are makin up
and no you dont loose any kind of graphics performance or w.e when going to cm.
yes, front camera also works...
Well, I think video calls don't work, as that is a function of the stock telefone app, but I might be mistaken.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions &
Read the Forum Rules Ref Posting

not only you dont lose, but you also gain... best stock rom+best stock kernel vs best cm7 rom+best cm7 kernel cm7 wins everytime by a big difference, and in graphics some cm7 combos even boost your fps's a bit
Go for Django Manouche stock rom, all works, crap LG apps gone and aroma installer, if cm temasek

[Q] I have become a noob Please Help :)

Greeting XDA Community,
I have not been in the scene for a while (I left before ICS came out). Back in the day Temasek's ROM was awesome and I used to update to the new ones all the time untill he stoped with it (temasek's UNOFFICIAL BUILD 135.4 - FINAL).
I am now back I would like to update my phone.
I am still on temasek's UNOFFICIAL BUILD 135.4 - FINAL . I would like to know what bugs are involved with the new ics roms and also what is this new bootloader and should I be switching to it?
Thank you
Trystan
I think HDMI orientation fix is the only major bug left w/ CM10.1. I recommend (it'll take a couple hours), no HIGHLY recommend reading pengus77's kernel thread and tonyp's CM10.1 rom thread.. Start at the beginning and follow to the end, and I promise you will no longer be a noob. I personally would get the new BLr and I like ROM toolbox pro. I'm running this rom/kernel as daily-driver (CM10.1_tonyp_build3 w/ tiny gapps, and kk122) and the combo kicks serious, serious ass. Generally 100-120mb free ram, great battery life, and nothing lags. I don't game, but I haven't found anything that slows it down with current rom/kernel.

Thanks, I will look into it

[Q] please suggest a ICS rom for P990, thanks

I tried CM7.1, so many bugs that it seems no hope for P990.
I tried OpGaNex, but no sure if baseband problem or the rom problem, it is lag when opening new app.
Can anyone suggest me a rom that you tried and found so far so good for general use.
My requirement is simple, no need for special effect or lot of tools, but is STABLE and NO obvious problem. (stock rom is really the last resort..i hope i have better choice..)
Particularly, I would like to select one of below, please let me know if you have tried any of below and found obvious problem, like camera wont work, very lag, etc.
(i know i should not ask this, but i really find it great effort to backup and restore for trying so many roms..)
Stock Roms ICS
LG Official ICS V30A/V30B (01-JAN-13)
AOSP EaglesBlood [BETA?] (15-JAN-13)
CivZ Multi Flex Rev 1.1 (13-APR-13)
DjangoManouche X 1.6.1 (04-APR-13)
* DOVAHKIIN 1.2 (16-FEB-13)
Flex-Icer 4.7 + CivZ_KERNELS (V30B/a- aroma installer) (26-MAR-13)
Fuzion 2.0 30A/B (17-APR-13)
OpGaNex-Project 1.5(04-MAY-13
Opti-Thrust 1.4 (01-APR-13)

Thread like this are forbidden bro, if you don't want try them all, just read feedbacks and flash the rom which seems good from feedbacks
Anyway, Dmx 1.6.5, i think that version it's not on the first page you have to search in the thread for it, the best ics rom I ever used, super smooth, no bugs, stable, incredible multitasking, great battery life (use it with the latest kob kernel, that's the configuration I had time ago. Just to inform you bro, the baseband doesn't influences in any way to the performance of the device, it just change your signal stuff and telephony, maybe it reduce/increase your battery life, depends of the baseband and where you are situated.
