Hi,
I'm a bit cross with Google for offering only the "Whale-Sized" option of the new Nexus.
Now, I'm thinking about whether I should buy it or not.
My main problem isn't even holding or using such a big device, it's mainly about how to actually carry it around with me. And I'd like to hear how you plan to handle this.
So far, I've always used a leather holster with a belt clip. This worked quite well, but for my Galaxy S4 it was already a bit...much. The holster is pretty big and not exactly unobtrusive. Now, the Nexus 6 is quite a bit bigger than the S4, so I think a leather holster probably would look even nore ridiculous...
But what other options are there? The phone should be protected, but still easy to grab at any time. Putting it in a backpack is out of the question, trouser pockets won't work (never worked for me with the S4 either). What else is there?
Thanks!
My left front jeans pocket, where I always put my phone. In the right is my wallet, keys, and change.
Much like ive carried any other phone,in my pocket. Probably in the same way millions of others are carrying their iphone 6 plus too.
Non issue.
I should be visiting other forums of lesser phones asking them how its actually possible to see anything on their measly screens

Front left pocket, as always. I'm not concerned about fashion and I wear baggy pants, so it's not an issue.
I know I will have to get some new jeans because even with my N5, my front pockets are too tight for it.
Front left pocket. I can fit an 8 inch tablet in my back pockets so this in my front won't be a problem. Regular jeans.
Been carrying my Note 2 in my left front pocket for two years. This shouldn't be much of a problem.
I carry Verizon note 3 in rear pocket jean pant or in cargo pant without any problem.
Mainly in a maxpedition organizer with other items. I did a video on this for my current nexus 5:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8EozLbZDnc
Will definitely do the same with the nexus 6 and the bigger organizer
Looks cool, Does this bag can be in landscape hanging on the belt?

I think it would take too long to get the phone out of there... Also, where do you put that pouch then? Belt?
I typically only wear slim fitting jeans or pants and I've never had a problem putting any phone (currently a G3) or my Nexus 7 in any of my pockets.
In my pocket? That's the only logical place to put s phone. It's not much bigger than my old Note 3 so no big deal I like big phones because you can do so much more
belt clip case ftw. never carried any phone ive ever owned any other way. never will carry any phone any other way
The same place I carried my Note 2, note 3 and every other device I've owned.
Right front pocket.
Lol at the s4 being a bit much..it's tiny!

Well, I wear regular stretch jeans, and whenever I sit down with S4 in my pocket it feels lije it's going to break. Also, no way to pull it out of the pocket when I'm sitting. No idea what kind of pockets you have...

What is your preferred method of carrying around your phone?
I use a belt clip. I find it keeps the phone well protected, plus it makes it easier to get it when I'm sitting down, then if were in my pants pocket. I also really like the clip I'm using, It has a holder for an extra stylus, an SD card, and a credit card, which makes it very practical.

Nevermind the device itself, what about the things that go with it
I find the original HTC case clipped to my belt is fine for the TyTN II itself or otherwise I just put it uncased in my shirt pocket. As far as carrying all the other bits and pieces to go with it though, I'm unable to find anything really suitable so I've started this thread over in the General Accessories forum.
A old 3G iPod belt case. Slips in easily, looks better than the AT&T "purse" case on the belt.

Had it in my pocket but I broke it when I bumped into a metal rail. I'm afraid this could happen again so easily. I need to start putting the screen facing inward against my leg.
Dockers made to tote the tilt
I purchased Dockers with a lower thigh zip pocket designed for a phone. That's right, I purchase my wardrobe around my phone.
I put mine in a metal case then put it in my pocket so as not to break the screen.
pants pocket...back cover facing outwards...camera lens cover on the back cover WILL definitely get scratched within a month of such usage but i just can't/won't use a belt clip
i have a strap tethered to the device and that dangles out my pocket so it is easier to pull the device out when needed
I've got one of these things to tote all my gadgetry. Works like a charm! ^_^

that thing came with my store bought TYTN 2 but i can't/won't/don't use it cuz i can't stand it when i have to keep things outside my pants pockets...guess i'll sell that htc branded belt clip case for the even lower price of $19.99
Simply kept in my pocket, battery cover facing outwards to protect the screen from damage. I have an anime cell phone charm attached to the end of the phone, so that dangles out of my pocket for easier access.

My 2 shirts I had on since I have the phone: Yes!
Having used dell streak ( slightly bigger than GNote) , i can say that it should easily fit most of all the pockets.
The size issues are really "overhyped" as it fits in any jacket, any pants, and its totally not oversized to call with. Hell, it's still smaller then the average house phone and the nokia e90. True it might not fit in some chest pockets but neither does my SII.
I've never had a streak but I'm never going back to a smaller phone that's for sure.
streak: 152.9 x 79.1 x 10 mm
note: 146.9 x 83 x 9.7 mm
data from gsmarena.
note is shorter, thinner, but wider.

Let's be a bit more specific here.
I have two shirts with small pockets that my current phone doesn't fit into - the note ain't fitting in those either.
I have several shirts with pockets that the note does fit info - but it sticks up by an inch or so. So it goes in, but not all the way. (i.e. you couldn't button it up if it had a flap). But you could temporarily stuff it in there if you needed both hands for something.

According to this guy, not an issue: Pocket test
My Tab fits in my pockets, so the note will be loose.

Yes. I think there is some phone envy going on.
Lol, maybe Samsung should also get into fashion and produce a set of "accessories" for the note, like a note jeans, a note shirt, a note jacket etc
Anyway it definitely fits in my pocket. Also, when putting it in a shirt pocket I hardly notice it is there (because of the 175g).
I agree with another poster in this thread, it is more difficult to fit this thing in my hand than in my pocket lol

Has anyone else bought this? I'm a bit disapointed in it. XDA has turned off search so I couldn't search for similar threads.
On Amazon they picture the buckle fitting like this. Clearly reaching out and over the entire edge and holding on tight from under.

Mine, fits like this. It's as snug as a bug in the case and no more pressure or pushing is going to make it any better. The buckle just doesn't clasp correctly
I have that case, and it only happens for me when the lower corners are not fully seated (depressed) in their holders. I know you said it is snug as a bug, and if that is the case, yours is definitely made different as mine clasps as in the first photo.
Thanks.. It's clearly defective.
I opened the case up and just put the N10 on it so there is 0% chance of anything keeping it from closing how it was intended.
It clearly is made wrong. There is no way that is clasping no matter what. Pisses me off. $15 product and they know most people won't go through the trouble of going somewhere to ship it back, paying for shipping (and then waiting for them to credit you back) and hope they get it right the second time.. It still holds, especially with the little elastic strap but I'd prefer that extra little security.. Oh well..
I have no luck with cases. My Moko case for the N7 had the magnet improperly placed and the smart cover feature never worked. (it did work though I tested it with a magnet)
Looks like that clasp isn't bent enough. The rigid material underneath is probably plastic whereas metal could perhaps be bent a little more to adjust the fit. Bummer.
I massaged down strip of foam that runs on that edge there and it's sliding over better. Not like in their photo but it's more than it originally was.. It's usable and think once the foam softens up a bit more it'll be even better.
It stays shut and is protected ... Others have complained about the same thing in reviews: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A6X3ZM6/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
I see the complaints you're talking about. I'd send a picture of mine, but it's at home. I have to sort of flex the cover down while pulling up a bit on the hook to get it closed. The fit is rather tight, so I am trying to lessen the wear of repeated use. When closed the lid dips down just slightly at the hook. It would be a hassle to return. Maybe they would acknowledge a quality control problem and send a free replacement under the 3-year warranty? You're certainly not alone as Amazon attests.
I'm sorry to hear that. Mine fits perfectly. Smart Cover works pretty well to although I'm not used to it yet. My only complain is that while playing with it, the device gets hotter than usual.
I remember that in the beginning the inner tabs were very tight so I bent them to be able to remove the device more easily. I know it's difficult with that tab particularly. You can try using a heater if it's in fact plastic.
Silly question, did you move the elastic band so it's on the outside when closing the case?
Just ordered my Nexus 10 this morning and seriously considering this case...Should I do it? How reliable is their warranty if the case starts peeling or something? Should I worrya bout the tablet getting scratched while putting it on or getting it in kickstand mode so I can type on it in class?
Thanks!
In my modest opinion, the case is awesome. I own mine for about two months now. To be honest, I don't care about the warranty for a 15$ thing except if you have to return it because it's clearly defective.
I like the case, but I found another one in Amazon that I might like better. If I find it again I'll tell you.

I'd say do it. I wasn't going to use a case at all, but I realized I needed one for travel. I really liked that this one didn't have a bezel. I thought I'd use it just for travel, but I've never taken it off.
I mean, I mainly use the nexus without it, especially for gaming. But exactly, I need it for carrying it in the backpack. And the stand functionality is awesome fit browsing. This is the third case I have of this type. I use another one with my note 2 and with the transformer before if this tablet.
Does anyone have advice regarding going about using the HTC One without a case, naked and out in the world, without utterly destroying the phone due to scratches, dings and dents?
I pre-ordered my HTC One 64 gb on contract and Im considering selling it in december and buying whatever Nexus phone google is offering in november off contract, and judging by the nexus 4, the price point shouldnt be too bad.

If you want to go caseless, your best bet is to install something like the Skinomi full body shield. It should provide protection against scratch on the body.
get a clear case/bumper
I tried going caseless for sgs3, n2, and nexus 4.
Random scratches here and there. Not worth it!
So what If it scratches. You won't notice them when the screen is on anyway.
a pouch
I'm with you in that it seems a dreadful shame to cover up such a beautiful piece of design.
Personally my solution is to use a leather pouch - protected when I'm not using it and all it's caseless glory when I am

Same here, hate using cases for my phones. Went caseless with One X, then S3 then Note 2, Xperia Sola, then 4s, then Nexus 4, then back to One X (I know, I change phones a lot and now I'm planning to get the One ). What I did was buy those full body screen protectors, I used Zagg for the rear and sides, but used the Spigen ones on the screen so that I wouldn't even feel or see any screen protector on the screen.
I sold all my other phones (except N4 and Sola) near the real value I bought it because it still looks and feels so brand new and until now, none of my buyers have complained (I give them an opportunity to test the phones for a week first, if they need help with something, I help them to the best I can, and if they don't like the phone, I give them a full refund, but I ask for a free snack)

I've been fortunate enough to have not dropped my last 3 phones while caseless.
It used to happen when I would get out of the car, so now the phone is either in my pocket or in my hand when I get in/out of the car.
I always have a back screen protector so that the back won't scratch when it lays on the table.
Keys and change in right pocket, phone in left.
Other than that, keep a tight grip!

It's lovely naked, it's really is, people should have to pay to see it, it's like a peep show!
I'll be getting a pouch very, very soon... until then, I'm holding it like a baby!
This is the million dollar dilemma every time!
I HATE cases, the phone is designed to be held and felt as it is, not with a case that makes it twice the size (some don't I know...)
A pouch kind of helps here, but then if you are using the device and you drop it, I have yet to see a pouch that spots it has been dropped and quickly attaches itself to avoid damage

Everyone saying use a pouch for when the phone is not in use lol. U do know the most damage done to a phone is from dropping it right? You can't drop a phone thats putaway. You can when you are holding it. So pouch doesnt actually make a difference.

It's scratch proof. I have a 1-year-old One X and it has maybe 2 micro scratches on the screen. Almost immaculate and the same as an Xperia on the second day. lol
Edit: Also not sure how could you dent/scratch a phone in your pocket?!

thats only semi true when you are carrying around taking it out from your pocket etc its always in the pouch
but if you drop while using it yes its true
so a pouch is kinda of half protection and protects against the element in pocket/ bag etc
I have one instance though a sharp object went inside the pouch I put my phone on... I'm not sure how many days it has been on the pouch but it scratched my phone like hell. I thought it was dust or something on my hands when it's dirty until I felt it when I was holding the pouch and meh! A little stone made it inside.
I recommend these. They aren't out yet for the One but should be soon. I used them on my One X for nine months and never had an issue. They are wet apply and shrink when dry so tightly that you can feel the raised lettering in the Beats logo. Their shiny though which may not appeal to every one.

the note 9 fits in my pocket!
While it does fit in my jeans, it's a pretty snug fit. Most of the time I end up taking it out of my pocket before sitting down to avoid putting excess stress on the frame - wouldn't want to bend or break it now would we?

That'd be my pick out of all of the S10's,just for the flat display alone.
I have the Note 8, which is roughly the same dimensions as the Note 9 only slightly thinner as the Note 9 has a larger 4000MaH battery. I can fit it into my jeans pocket, but it is very uncomfortable to walk around with it in my pocket. I have a LD West Holster, which I use during the warm weather. I would recommend that you get a holster for it as it makes carrying the Note 9 allot more manageable.

I hear fanny bags are making a comeback. A holster does feel more appealing to me than a man purse though.
Back on topic: Prepare to include large pockets as a criteria when purchasing pants. Yes, the Note 9 is that big.
fits fine in my chinos and jeans.
In my work pants and dress pants however a corner of the phone is always sticking out and visible.

Can't speak for the s10+, but my note 9 is totally manageable even with one hand (especially with oneUI) and it is more comfortable in my hand + for prolonged use (by a lot) vs my previous s7e. Fits my pocket too, tho you will have a hard time to tie your shoes ties if you don't pull out the phone. I can, for example, drive with it in my front pocket. Overall a comfortable phone to use, especially given it's size. Mostly for two hands usage tho.
