Hi all I'm thinking of getting an pre ordering S10 plus but I'm worried it will not fit in my pocket and I will have to always put it in my bag I know the note 9 is even bigger then the S10 plus so wanted to know how big the phones really are and how you note 9 owners get on with the larger form factor. In short I besically want to know if the note 9 and S10 plus can fit in my pocket.
the note 9 fits in my pocket!
While it does fit in my jeans, it's a pretty snug fit. Most of the time I end up taking it out of my pocket before sitting down to avoid putting excess stress on the frame - wouldn't want to bend or break it now would we?
I just put it in my front jeans pocket.

What phone are you currently using?
Here's GSM Arena's comparison tool, try it out, shows all the specs of any given phone, including external dimensions:

Or,drop by a Best Buy near you,the one in my area already has demo units available.

That'd be my pick out of all of the S10's,just for the flat display alone.
I have the Note 8, which is roughly the same dimensions as the Note 9 only slightly thinner as the Note 9 has a larger 4000MaH battery. I can fit it into my jeans pocket, but it is very uncomfortable to walk around with it in my pocket. I have a LD West Holster, which I use during the warm weather. I would recommend that you get a holster for it as it makes carrying the Note 9 allot more manageable.
A holster??? I thought they were left in 1995?

I hear fanny bags are making a comeback. A holster does feel more appealing to me than a man purse though.
Back on topic: Prepare to include large pockets as a criteria when purchasing pants. Yes, the Note 9 is that big.
fits fine in my chinos and jeans.
In my work pants and dress pants however a corner of the phone is always sticking out and visible.

Can't speak for the s10+, but my note 9 is totally manageable even with one hand (especially with oneUI) and it is more comfortable in my hand + for prolonged use (by a lot) vs my previous s7e. Fits my pocket too, tho you will have a hard time to tie your shoes ties if you don't pull out the phone. I can, for example, drive with it in my front pocket. Overall a comfortable phone to use, especially given it's size. Mostly for two hands usage tho.
Phone shoulder holsters, awe lawd have mercy. I'd sooner don a man bag or murse.

The only pants I have a problem with is my Dickies. A corner sticks out of the pocket, and it is prone to sliding out of my pocket when I'm playing video games and have my feet propped up.
Fits a treat in my cargo pants... ??

I'd sooner have the device in a holster or man purse than a fanny pack or or front pocket. You know... one doesnt want to irradiate the crown jewels too much with radio waves.

My 2 shirts I had on since I have the phone: Yes!
Having used dell streak ( slightly bigger than GNote) , i can say that it should easily fit most of all the pockets.
The size issues are really "overhyped" as it fits in any jacket, any pants, and its totally not oversized to call with. Hell, it's still smaller then the average house phone and the nokia e90. True it might not fit in some chest pockets but neither does my SII.
I've never had a streak but I'm never going back to a smaller phone that's for sure.
streak: 152.9 x 79.1 x 10 mm
note: 146.9 x 83 x 9.7 mm
data from gsmarena.
note is shorter, thinner, but wider.

And a whole lot of lighter (175g versus 220g)

Let's be a bit more specific here.
I have two shirts with small pockets that my current phone doesn't fit into - the note ain't fitting in those either.
I have several shirts with pockets that the note does fit info - but it sticks up by an inch or so. So it goes in, but not all the way. (i.e. you couldn't button it up if it had a flap). But you could temporarily stuff it in there if you needed both hands for something.

According to this guy, not an issue: Pocket test
My Tab fits in my pockets, so the note will be loose.

Yes. I think there is some phone envy going on.
Lol, maybe Samsung should also get into fashion and produce a set of "accessories" for the note, like a note jeans, a note shirt, a note jacket etc
Anyway it definitely fits in my pocket. Also, when putting it in a shirt pocket I hardly notice it is there (because of the 175g).
I agree with another poster in this thread, it is more difficult to fit this thing in my hand than in my pocket lol

In theory, you shouldn't be playing games or anything when it's in the bag, so it shouldn't be that bad.
Does recording video heat up the phone?

I travel a lot with my phone, but I just carry a sandwich zip lock bag with me in my backpack just in case it rains. I have pulled that bag out maybe three times in the last year.

I bought one of thoose bags and scubadived with it on 15 meters depth with my note 1 in Thailand, worked very well, somehow the N1 couldnt handle 1080p under water,, coulors were horrible.,,, use 720p and start recording before diving under water...
http://youtu.be/X2OIiJA2lY0
was it a dull day or something? cos the colours look quite bad even on your 720p recording.
How was the auto focusing?
I wonder if the touch screen will work with the pen, underwater?
I have BlackBurn waterproof case for my note1 - it is quite job to slide note1 into it but it fits there. As note 2 is about 2mm brighter should perfectly fit into that case - there is still room left for note2 for his additional 4mm into high - i dont have note 2 yet, but i already checked the case with dummy
There is no problem at all with this case to handle screen, even with calling i can hear as there is no bag and also other side never complained that can not hear me. On the bike in my back pocket never get the phone wet from sweating even sometimes got caught by rain.

The 3XL box still isn't big enough though!
I've used the AquaPac for 3 years now. I'm around water most of my day working in the yard. Watering plants, digging, etc. The AquaPac has saved me several times from ruining my phone (direct hit with sprinkler, dunked into the pond). I listen to podcasts and with the Note 2, it's loud enough to just put it on speaker and go. Otherwise I've used a bluetooth headset. I now also have an older AquaPac for when I paint or am around grease.
http://www.shopandroid.com/aquapac-handheld-case/4A104A593A.htm
If you go to their main website, they have other types/sizes. The one in the link above, fits the Note 2 "just right". It fits, but if you have a case of any type, it's not going to fit. Fyi, one side of the case is completely clear, the other side has the company logo.

Edit: I have a FlyGrip on my phone and there is no way it fits into my original AquaPac. Luckily, I found this, good price and excellent ratings! http://www.amazon.com/Kwik-Tek-Dry-Multi-Purpose-Case/dp/B005G77P7S/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

:crying: Yes, first week of having the G'Note II it slipped out of my hand and landed on the corner and weird part was it didn't crack on the spot. The corner was scratched up and later I went to use the phone and the crack showed up. More likely it put pressure on the corner and cracked afterwards. I'm going to replace the whole screen and LCD, but will wait for the price to come down from $300.00 for the parts.
The orange color reminds me of the Dodge Charger car.

Hey guys.
For those of us who prefer the OEM flip case but want some drop protection, consider buying a cheap lariat and feeding it through the speaker hole on the back. Wear the lariat around your wrist when using the phone and if you drop it the phone never hits the ground.
The lariat also helps you to pull it our of your pocket if you are wearing tighter jeans.

I have the orange as well. I got it for 50% for registering my phone via Facebook. The orange is very odd. It's almost peach in bright lights. I find that the flip cover gets in the way most of the time. It is nice though. If you use a car mount.... get ready to hate the cover.

I wouldn't recommend you keep it on like that, I did that for awhile and eventually the piece started to bend. Instead feed it through the hole and tape the lanyard to the inside of the back cover, You won't see the tape when the cover is closed . Don't put too much though or the cover won't close. It's kept my phone from hitting the ground thus far. This was the lanyard I used http://www.ebay.com/itm/4X-NEW-T-MO...368729?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item336ab1ca99
Okay well I ride a bike a lot so it's expected that I get caught up in a thunderstorm sometimes...
IDC About the screen or buttons being visible when this happens, just so as long as the case snaps tightly shut and prevents any water from seeping through.

Bought this to use our little point-and-shoot while water rafting. It keeps the water out quite well but the pictures are not as clear as they should be. The plastic film leave quite a bit a haze on the pictures. Also wasn't the easiest accessing the controls, including the shutter button. Still, probably better than having to deal with buying a waterproof disposable and having to then go and (ewww!) develop the pictures. Certainly cheaper than buying a waterproof digital camera. All in all, not a totally horrible trade off.

But neither of those can be submerged. I think a lot of people define "waterproof" as in being able to be submerged/dunked/dropped in water. Not just splashed.

Yea right I know what ya mean... But in that case I'd just leave my ziplock baggy I have right now and keep it inside that case, and if it got to be too much of a down pour, I'd double it up in protection. Or one of those other 2 thick plastic cases and use it in that as well as the bike mount case.
But I doubt I'll be getting that submerged in rain water, unless I accidentally rode my bike off into a swimming pool full of water. haha!

Hi,
I'm a bit cross with Google for offering only the "Whale-Sized" option of the new Nexus.
Now, I'm thinking about whether I should buy it or not.
My main problem isn't even holding or using such a big device, it's mainly about how to actually carry it around with me. And I'd like to hear how you plan to handle this.
So far, I've always used a leather holster with a belt clip. This worked quite well, but for my Galaxy S4 it was already a bit...much. The holster is pretty big and not exactly unobtrusive. Now, the Nexus 6 is quite a bit bigger than the S4, so I think a leather holster probably would look even nore ridiculous...
But what other options are there? The phone should be protected, but still easy to grab at any time. Putting it in a backpack is out of the question, trouser pockets won't work (never worked for me with the S4 either). What else is there?
Thanks!
My left front jeans pocket, where I always put my phone. In the right is my wallet, keys, and change.
Much like ive carried any other phone,in my pocket. Probably in the same way millions of others are carrying their iphone 6 plus too.
Non issue.
I should be visiting other forums of lesser phones asking them how its actually possible to see anything on their measly screens

Front left pocket, as always. I'm not concerned about fashion and I wear baggy pants, so it's not an issue.
I know I will have to get some new jeans because even with my N5, my front pockets are too tight for it.
Front left pocket. I can fit an 8 inch tablet in my back pockets so this in my front won't be a problem. Regular jeans.
Been carrying my Note 2 in my left front pocket for two years. This shouldn't be much of a problem.
I carry Verizon note 3 in rear pocket jean pant or in cargo pant without any problem.

I think it would take too long to get the phone out of there... Also, where do you put that pouch then? Belt?
I typically only wear slim fitting jeans or pants and I've never had a problem putting any phone (currently a G3) or my Nexus 7 in any of my pockets.
In my pocket? That's the only logical place to put s phone. It's not much bigger than my old Note 3 so no big deal I like big phones because you can do so much more

Right front pocket.

Well, I wear regular stretch jeans, and whenever I sit down with S4 in my pocket it feels lije it's going to break. Also, no way to pull it out of the pocket when I'm sitting. No idea what kind of pockets you have...

Hi,
I'm a bit cross with Google for offering only the "Whale-Sized" option of the new Nexus.
Thanks!
