Thats the icon for NFC. If you go in to settings and scroll down to "Connect And Share" you can find the NFC setting and turn it off.

Thanks a bunch guys..... Thought I tried everything. Figures its something obvious!

Has this happened to anyone else?

My Vario III was connected to my PC last night and I was just browsing ebay.
All of a sudden, the phone gave a bleep and when I looked, it was on the dialling screen. Closer inspection showed that where the numbers usually appear, I had the word "Fender".
I had been on the musical instruments section of ebay and had just typed that word into the search box!
Well I turned the phone onto sleep mode, then back on again, it synced as normal and there was no repeat.
I'm just curious to know if anyone else has had this experience?

Yes I have!
It wasn't a problem as such (as far as I'm aware), just sort of a curious thing to happen.

Your phone make benefit the glorious nation of Kazakstan
Every now and again my phone will put me somewhere in the ocean. I have to restart it to get the GPS to work again. I have no idea why it does it but the restart sorts it. Very annoying.
Verrry Nicesssee!
Hmm, IDK, when I click download on quick gps for me it doesn't show any longitude or latitude it just shows the same DL button. . .

A sterling example of what should be a forum rule: If you're going to post an unhelpful response, at least make it clever and humorous.
In this case, done and done. A mug of beer raised in your honor, xconradx.

flashing green led

i would be internally grateful if someone could tell me how to extinguish, once and for all, the green flashing "network coverage" led. it just bothers me, makes me think i have a missed call or the device is trying somehow to speak to me through an array of monosyllabic words. it has to go.
p.s. please dont say "stick a bit of tape over it". i already weighed up the pros and cons for that option.
the LED will turn yellow in case you have something missed. it will turn red when you battery is under 5%.
so if it is green, you're good. you did not miss anything, and you are "covered" (network wise ;-))
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=2400
This may be what you're after.
cheers hicks, i think that is just what i am after. i would just rather it didn't flash at all until the phone has something important to tell me.
I personally like to know if my phone is on and can receive calls. In case the green light is off totally, it will be misleading to me.
It's bloody annoying if you are trying to read an ebook, though! Thanks in advance for the link; I'll give the cab a go if the forum ever get around to activating my membership!

ha i rember a while back when i got my first wizard it bothered me no one had a fix back then i think if i got rid of it now id miss it lol but let me know if that link fixes it
that cab was near perfect. exactly what the doctor ordered. my green light is gone. not only that but i can assign different coloured leds to different missed calls, texts and so on. its even addressed my problem of sms and missed call reminders! one small gripe tho.. cant assign a blue led to the bluetooth.... there's no pleasing some people!
Absolutely brilliant, this worked a charm! Especially no flashing lights or notifications during certain times, generally when I'm asleep!

yes, that cab is brilliant, and the best thing is that the guy is still working on it and updating the versions.
yea that program works perfect!
It does work really well at stopping the flashing light, but, unbfortunately, ther flashing light that I like - Bluetooth - can't be blue anymore! I set it the green LED, but because I am used to the green flashes all the time, I forgot to turn bluetooth off when I got to work this morning. My own stupidity, I suppose. If the writer can get the blue light working for that function, this will be an excellent program instead of a very good one.
I think I have what you are looking for.
LED-Killer 3.1
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=5689
This tiny little programm only disables the green network coverage LED. The rest remains unchanged.
Works like charme on my kaiser.
Give it try and let me know if it works.

Error said "LED port cannot be opened" <----Why is that?

I'm the author.
If you are getting LED port cannot be opened it is likely in use by another program or it's being used on a device that isn't supported.
Have you installed it twice perhaps?
The program makes no permanent changes to your LEDs so to restore them back to the HTC default uninstall the program and do a soft reset, the best way to do this is press and hold power button and turn it completely off and then back on again. Providing you have no other programs on there trying to set them they will be back to normal.
Regards
Phil
Thank you for the program Phil. It is appreciated.
sweet thanks man my tilt arives monday cant wait to use this very polished app.

GPS "auto-attaching" ?

a guy on a dif alltouchdiamond.com, orangecrush wrote:
"I read a fix on xda forum and I switched to GSM only but more importantly, I used a program to stop what is called "auto-attaching".
Basically, they explained it that it stops the phone from searching for GPRS all the time.
I tried it today and as usual, I turned my phone on at 6:45 am
It's 7:10pm and I STILL have 2 bars left.
Unbelievable, it would have been finished 4-5 hours ago.
Mark"
I searched here and cannot find what he is talking about. Can anyone point me in the right direction? (I have the US version with the official rom, and although some of your tweaks do not work, most of them do and are amazing!)
basically, I'm still draining battery power somehow and have done fixes and think that that above may help.
Thanks!
I think you're talking about GPRS auto-attach, but mis-spelled the thread title as GPS auto-attaching.
Anyways, there is a setting in Advanced Config under Data Connections, where you can disable GPRS auto-attach.
Hope this helps.
Yup you were right on! Thank you very much.
Now, does anyone know if it makes that much of a difference?
Be aware that even if you disable GPRS auto-attach then when you do come to connect, and subsequently disconnect, you will still remain attached. Only a soft-reset will return the device to a non-attached state (as indicated by a non-solid G icon).
Mathew
Softreset is not required. Just turn off the phone unit in CommManager and turn it on again (need to re-enter your pin of course). And you will be not attached again.
By the way. It does not even show the non solid (grey) G icon for me when I'm not attached (o2 germany). While I'm roaming T-Mobile it sometimes shows a grey E (EDGE) icon.

Ah yes, I hadn't though of that. It's still a shame having to do this step anyway though.
For what it's worth I now leave mine as auto-attach as since upgrading to the latest ROM my battery life is quite acceptable, and I'm not sure staying detached really helped me much, if at all, in real terms.

Mute when face-down???

correct me if im wrong, but in the stock version of the diamond,
when a call is recieved and the phone is flipped to face downwards, isn't the phone suppose to mute ?
I have not experienced this in any of the cooked roms, just a curious questions atm cause that is kind of a niffty feature that attracted me in the begining.
yeah, you need to turn it on in hte registry. im too lazy to find the entry for you and it seems youre to lazy to search, anyway, check out advanced config

hahah! agreed, i was kind of lazy. it was just a spark of thought, in the heat of the moment.
atleast im man enough to admit im lazy rather then claiming i have "apparently tried to search and cannot find". Not that 'neWb'.
