Hi.
From next week I will be proud owner of Xperia Z phone. Please, do recommend fast memory card. I used class 10 Samsung on Desire.
Now, I see that Samsung have Class 6 Plus, which are supposedly very fast.
In Croatia, there is nowhere to find SanDisk cards, so I will stick with Samsung.
So, my question is - which card to buy:
This - 16GB MicroSDHC Pro Class 10
or this - 32GB MicroSDHC Plus Class 6
Price is nearly the same (16GB is 3USD cheaper).

Both are ok.
only that the 32Gb must be formated in the device.will not be able to read it if you already have data on.(on non-rooted firmware as in my case)
Class 10

depending on the amount of data you have, if its not more than 10 GB i would definitely recommend Class 10. I have sandisk class 10 16GB in my XZ and i tried a 32GB class 6 the difference is very visible. if you can afford go for the 32GB class 10.
Also dont forget that you would need to format the card inside the phone for optimal performance
On Desire I used 8GB class 10, and had 6GB available couse 1,6GB was EXT4 partition. Of those 6GB on Fat32, I used 60-70% max with pics, music and recorded videos. So, better to buy smaller but faster, than larger but slower ?
It's up to you really, it depends on how much space you need. You are not going to be using the SD to hold any system files with the Z so it's okay that it's not lightning fast, I would go with the 32gb, unless you think that you'll never use that much
if i were you, i'd go for 64gb card.

Only used SanDisk so can't really comment on the others. In my experience they are pretty good, budget-wise you might be better off with a Transcend or something though.

I have a corrupted new 64 GB Sandisk Ultra Class 10.
My advice is make a full search here in General and Q&A threads about SD Cards before buying, because a great number of Xperia users are unhappy with their incompatible / corrupted SD Cards, especially the SanDisk ones.
Definitely Sandisk (the ultra)I use them in all xperias, no issue so far altought I don't use the 64Go it's too big for my use, 32Go is enough.
http://www.myshopping.com.au/ZM--12...IA_Type_HD_32GB_microSDHC_UHS_I_Card_Class_10
Based on my experience, here is the rank I suggest:
1) Sandisk 2) Toshiba 3) Kingston 4) Transcend
...and I also strongly suggest, only choose between Sandisk and Toshiba.
Am currently using a Sandisk 64GB on my Z for media like songs and videos, which I carried along from my Note (my very first android; then followed by Ion / V / TX) since day one, and a 32GB one for Titanium's and NAND backups. Both never encounter any problem... so far.
thanks guys for the helpful comments....i will buy a sandisk 32 Gb...

Put it straight in the phone and it will do it all for you.
When I bought my Sandisk 32GB and 64GB, both were formated with FAT32 out of the box.
Problem with FAT32 is that it won't support over 4GB a file.
If you have no intention to put over 4GB a file (like video) onto the card, you can just leave it as is and use it right away without doing anything.
If you're planning to put over 4GB a file onto the card, format it with exFAT with you computer by using a card adapter. XZ can read exFAT natively since 4.2.2.
You can also format your card with NTFS. Like exFAT, it also supports over 4GB a file. However, XZ can't read this file system thus you need to root and install a third party app like "Paragon exFAT, NTFS & HFS+" in order to read.
My suggestion is, use exFAT, since it's more versatile, and is natively supported.
I bought the Sony Xperia SP...I wanted to buy the SanDisk Memory Card Mobile Ultra 32 GB Class 10..
Does this have any compatibility problem with Xperia SP? I read on the web that there is a problem "SD card removed unexpectedly" cropping up in other phones..Is anyone facing this problem?
Please let me know asap.

I have a SanDisk Extreme® microSDHC UHS1 32 GB in my XSP (I know definitely overpowered for the phone).
So i think the ultra version is compatible also then.
I had one but only last month have I started to get SD not mounted.PC can detect it.
Saved data to oc ,formatted card resent only vital data is titanium backup, link to SD data and still got SD error

I can't help you with that specific model of microSD but if it can be of any use I have a Samsung MB-MPBGB (32GB, class 10, UHS-1) right now formatted in exFAT (which is supported by the latest 2.245 firmware, not sure about the older ones) and it's been working flawlessly so far.
Hello i want to upgrade my SD card from 32 to 64 but i am not sure if its gonna work......
I read that many of you guys use 64gb storage with your phone
So i would like shall i pick a 64 gb card or stay with my small 32gb one ?
Also if i go with the 64gb card what brand should i go with because i saw a pretty good price at a Sandisk one at ebay and a Samsung one but i am not sure whats the best (Samsung class 10 But the Sandisk is class 1 and the Ebay listing says its class 10 )
Another thing is that the Sandisk one is A LOT cheaper than its original website.(Website price 111 usd , Ebay Price 49 usd)
Take a look :
Sandisk Original Site http://www.sandisk.com/products/memory-cards/microsd/ultra-class10-for-android/?capacity=64GB
Sandisk Ebay : http://www.ebay.com/itm/64GB-SanDisk-Mobile-Ultra-Micro-SDXC-MicroSDHC-Class-10-Memory-Card-SDSDQUA-064G-/370867521483?pt=US_Cellphone_Memory_Cards&hash=item56596d47cb
Samsung Ebay : http://www.ebay.com/itm/III-SAMSUNG-64gb-MICRO-SD-Memory-Card-SDHC-FLASH-Phone-DATA-S4-HX500-/121202496359?pt=US_Cellphone_Memory_Cards&hash=item1c383b5367
Thank you.
Xperia SP can handle microSD card up to 32 GB.
1 class is the best class of the SD card, but if you don't making films in 4k resolution you don' need that, class 10 it's will be fine
I am currently using sandisk 64gb ultra u1 class microsdxc and it is working fine with my sp
I also have 64GB microsdxc claas 10 card. But I have split SDcard to two partitions. Both 32GB. First one is like normall external sdcard for music, videos, pictures, and so on... Second partition i use with Link2SD. Because 5GB internal memory is really not so much.
I am not sure 32 gb are enough storage for me (for my music and photos and stuff) i was thinking 20 for apps and 40 for music and stuff

Im am not sure if all the above Sd cards are going to work with the xperia Sp but i am pretty sure that most of them will work after you format them.
Hello has anyone here tested if the Xperia Z supports the new 128gb SDXC-Cards?
I know that officially the Xperia-Z just works with cards up to 32gb but have also already read about 64gb Cards being used without any problem.
And if it should work with 128gb cards, then i rather buy the 128 instead of the 64gb SDXC as those should be future-proof.

It'd be great if it did. I know it works with 64GB cards as I've got one in mine at the moment. Sadly I can't afford to splash out on a 128GB card yet so I can't test.
Anybody else know?
Yea they are still kinda pricey, i guess it would still be more affordable to buy 2x64gb SDXC rather than one 128gb, but if you have a quite large music-collection there is no real alternative.
I was used to about 128gb (total capacity) on my old SGS3 before, and it was really convenient to have the music-library just a swipe away
Therefore iam looking for the same on the XperiaZ.
Lets see if someone here has the spare-parts to test
I too would like some feedback on this if possible, I am looking at buying a Xperia Z to go with my 128 GB MicroSD card I just bought, the ONLY use for this device will be as a media player, so don't want to get it for that intended use and it not do what I want.
I know this thread is almost a year old but I thought it's worth adding a new post to it.
I've just taken delivery of a 128GB SDXC card. It was on sale and I figured I'd risk it.
And it works! I slotted it into my XZ and suddenly I had huge amounts of storage space!
So yes, it works. Go get one now!!

Where did you get one of those from? I could do with a bigger card, mine is getting very full already..
It should work, in theory. Technically, if a phone can use a Micro SD card, it can use any capacity of Micro SD card.

No it depends on cpu and phone's ram. there could be unsupported sd card massage or some lag issues. even 1tb card is now available. I'm using a 64gb with no problem, but it's never enough for hd recording.
If you'd like to know the app for cvr try Recam.apk I don't know any better app, sth more complete eg for auto replacing old files and more quality options...
