Whenever I get a phone call while not on WiFi the below image pops up and causes the screen to lock. How do I get rid of it???
No ideas?
Until Verizon's LTE calling update some time this fall, the Moto X can't support voice and data at the same time.
No such problem on AT&T....
Just like Chris said, VZW needs to release a sw update so we can have Advance Calling(http://phandroid.com/2014/09/20/verizon-moto-x-launch-without-simultaneous-voice-data/). Until then, you have to be on wifi if you want to simultaneously talk and surf...
I understand that there needs to be an update, is there anyway to get rid of that message? It screws up answering and hanging up calls. Thanks
This "feature" is one of the reasons I switched back to the HTC One M8... Not being able to use Data and Voice at the same time is so 10 years ago - no clue why the hell they took a step back like this. I really like the moto X 2014, but with that "feature" and bluetooth not working properly (stuttering when playing music) I just can't use the device. - Additionally root/native tethering without paying for it are show stoppers. All stuff I can do with the m8, hopefully the Nexus 6 isn't impeded by the same shortcomings of the moto x
I've noticed everything you said as well. I'm going to give the X to my wife to replace her GS4 and just get the nexus. When the X was ordered they hadn't announced that it would be on VZW yet...

I've had my Verizon Moto X 2014 for about 3 weeks now and for some reason sometimes a person would try to call or text me and it doesn't go through. or even if I send out a text or a call and that doesn't go through. I went to Verizon the other day and they said *73 should stop the fowarding. The guy said it could possibly was trying to go another phone number?I didn't have any of these problems with my 13 Moto X. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

my dad had this problem, get a new sim card from verizon
I had an issue where I could not receive texts on my 2013 X. I was on the phone with both Verizon and Moto. We tried for a whole weekend to get it working. In the end I was able to fix it...factory reset. Pain the in the a$$ but at least it fixed the issue. Still not sure what caused it.
Not sure if this affect others but with Verizon not having the Advance Call 1.0 is becoming harder for me to live without... Plus I am on 3G only although there are some VZW N6 users who get LTE but I still don't think they can talk and use data together?
So coming from a wonderful rooted Note 3 on VZW, I am an IT Engineer and travel a lot for my job. With the Note 3, I
>> Travel and use device for GPS solely. But using other data phone activities while GPS is active
>> When traveling I need to answer support calls if a server goes down and this can be while driving using GPS. If so then I need voice, data & GPS
>> Long conference calls avg time 1 hr so to be able to use web, text, data while on a call is a need. Many times i am traveling not sitting at a desk need phone
I adore the N6 have it rooted and works well but today another day of travel I was using GPS but needed web to find product info, can't. Also recently was on a long business conf call and wife texted a urgent question but could not send a text back due to being on a bus call, etc. etc.. Same happened once when I was on GPS and text would not send...thought that was strange
I want to keep the phone but the need for production is weighing heavy on me and I did not realize how import LTE or I should say Advance Call 1.0 was important and needed for my day to day business & job
Any of you in this boat where the N6 is great but being early adopters is killing your need for voice and data both together?
My assumption this is a VZW only issue and not for other carriers they can do both together?
Has anyone refunded their N6 and just keeping a watch on how the N6 progress?
Hope soon VZW will add Advance Call for N6 or someone can cook it in a rom but curious of others thoughts who may be in a similar pinch?
I don't think there will be carrier specific updates. I think Google will enable this and WiFi calling in February with the 5.1 update.

Would be nice if Google would do so just the timeline and the "if" factor is killing me otherwise a great phone...
Thx

"'In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." so with that being said we may never know until its released. I have seen it mentioned on here several times with regards to WiFi calling, so one can assume that VoLTE will follow suit.
Think this only a VZW issue. I have my old Note 3 that I go back and forth between with my N6. If you are a busy person not just playing on the phone really using it for travel with GPS, email with exchange, busy with calls, etc. etc how are you all making it without Advance Calling to handle data and voice at the same time?
For me driving long hours using Google Maps and talking not able to look new address while on call and handle data is a killer...same with long conference calls and needing to send emails while on call or look up data via browser, dropbox, evernotes, etc and daily support stuff I do on my phone. So for time being I switch sims back and forth (have a nano to micro sim adapter) to my Note 3 more on it right now vs N6.
Thoughts?
yup, verizon issue(maybe sprint issue as well). im on tmobile, and have had voice and data at the same time since at least 2004, when i joined tmobile. even now, without volte. during a call, it swirches to hspa+ from lte(no calls through lte). and get high speed data, while on a phone call. but ill be honest, its really rare that i need the data while im on a phine call
May be a Verizon issue. ATT has no problem either. I make calls and use data all the time. One of the reasons I switched from Verizon many years ago before they added the functionality
Not sure I have ever used it. Not sure why you don't use a laptop... Superior in pretty much every imaginable way to a phone to actually get work done. I guess I work for a financial institution, so we don't use consumer stuff like Dropbox for data, and even if we did, a phone screen would be more trouble to use than its worth. And in my personal life, I'm a gringo middle aged dad...I use maybe 20 minutes a month, lol. So the reason it gets delayed is because most people have no use for it, or frankly never really thought about the fact that they can't do it.
I am a cable guy and believe me or not, the n6 is my daily driver. I had spent hours doing research to make sure that it would be a solid phone but it's hard to find a post about something that isn't supported yet. So I blindly traded my note 4 for a nexus 6. Still the best decision I've made all year.
I require a data connection 150% of the time. I also spend a lot of time on the phone, calling Comcast or my dispatch. The often ask for info that I can only reach with a data connection. Luckily, I have a lg gpad 8.3 lte that I use for that access but it's still very aggravating not being able to do that at all. It slows down my work a lot
I am on verizon and this really isn't a problem. I assume you have a Google voice account. You can make voip calls from within hangouts now. If your going to be on a call where you also need data just use the hangouts dialer. Problem solved.

Yeah, but that charges the call over data against your data cap... If Verizon would take Hangouts data and exclude it from your data cap, then I'd be all for this solution. Otherwise, Verizon needs to simply enable IMS VoLTE support, so that any Lollipop device can have VoLTE!
That's true but the amount of data those calls use is pretty negligible IMO.
Thanks all these are all great replies good feedback. Being so mobile my phone is always with me and just easier with a BTW headset look at phone and do task while on a call but seeing N6 now will have to wait.
I do have a cellular Samsung Note 10.1 tablet I never carry so to one person point I guess I will travel and carry it more just hate the extra load
Sent from mobile...excuse typos!
Has anyone with another device on their account (perhaps a Turbo) tried switching lines, enabling Advanced calling, and then switching back to see if this would actually work? My wife has a Turbo, so I'm tempted to try it out, but wanted to see if anyone else had already tried.
Im going to be buying a new device and i want one that i can unlock the bootloader and root and so far the nexus 6 is what im leaning towards. I currently have the vzw Lg g3 and love it, im gonna be keeping my G3 as a backup. I also like the note 4 but the bootloader unlock is a no go as far as i know. I also like playing modern combat on my g3 without any lagging. Which device would you suggest and why. I just wanna be 100% before i pay out the @SS for a phone. Help me make up my mind. Thank ya
Hi all
I am running lollipop and was wondering if I should use the moto custom voice to wake device with screen off, or use the one built into lollipop in Google now.
Is one better than the other ?
Besides being able to use a custom phrase on moto voice ?
I remember reading somewhere that the Google works better cuz its direct.
Any feedback would be much appreciated
Thanks and have a great weekend

Try them both, pick which one you like better.
Google Now can't wake your device unless it is charging.
Only Moto voice will work with the screen off of its not charging.

That's not correct. Lollipop has it built into the OS. Check under google now / settings and voice (voice detection). It's there. Screen off as well. And I think it works better than the moto x one after testing.
I'm well aware of it supposedly being built into lollipop. But it doesn't work with the screen off on the moto X unless its being charged. I've disabled moto voice, enabled google now voice detection from any screen and turned the screen off. Said "OK Google" nothing happens. There have been a few of us here that have tried it and it doesn't work. It does work, though, when it's being charged. If you're able to get it to work please let us know how you did it because I would rather use Google now.
My Google settings on CM 12. Does not work unless plugged in for me.
Haha my bad. I also have a nexus 6 so when I went to my moto X I assumed that it was the same. And I guess I tested it with the screen on. And alas, upon trying it, you are right. It doesn't work when the screen is off. Oops
This thread is close to the question I was researching but my question is more generic. I just got my new MotoX a couple days ago and I'm confused, what is the difference between Google Now or the Moto Voice apps? My old phone was a MotoX 2013 so I'm used to using Google Now for everything, now my new X seems to have two apps that do the same thing? What's the deal?

Moto Voice can wake up your phone, which Google Now cannot. Moto Voice can read your your new notifications (either on command, or during a set period of time), Google Now cannot. Most other voice commands are heard by Moto Voice, and then passed over to Google Now. The two don't really overlap in their abilities. They work together to give you the best of both worlds.

Oh, now I get it! Thanks!
In the last few days I've had at least one dropped call per day on my S6. It doesn't make any difference if my recipient is on a cellphone or landline nor does it matter if I'm in the car on bluetooth or using the handset elsewhere. I did some searches and found others having the same problem, not so much with AT&T (mine) as opposed to Verizon and T-Mobile. Some say a factory reset cured the problem, but I hate to do it unless I have to. Just curious how others on AT&T are faring. My previous S4 never dropped any calls nor did my HTC M7 so I'm thinking it's not a network issue, but something in the phone itself.
I've never had a dropped call in the month I've had the device. I had my chubby cheek hang up on my mom once last week, but that's as close as it gets. My area gets pretty good coverage for att and tmobile though. I've yet to drop a call since joining at&t
My Black Galaxy S6 Edge 64gb module was dropping calls like crazy, and was still within my exchange period so I switched it out. Haven't had any dropped calls since.
Call and connection quality have been stellar for me. Only dropped calls I've had are when going through known dead spots.
Looks like the factory reset fixed it for me so all is good now.

Have you had any dropped calls since your last post here? I'm having dropped calls often. I don't think a factory reset will help me because I wiped all data before flashing the rom I'm running. I may try a factory reset from within the settings menu if you haven't had any dropped calls since the 15th.
I've only had a couple dropped calls since then, but my problem now is that sometimes the other caller can't hear me, specially when I'm driving and on bluetooth through the car audio. It can't be the other caller because they were on a stationary, land-line phone. I checked out my mic by making a voice recording so the mic is fine. I just tried unchecking "Enable HD LTE Services" and I'll see what that does and report back. If it were not for the very nice camera, the annoyance of the dropped and muted calls plus the bad battery life would be enough to make me switch this phone. It's got to be a device-specific bug. My HTC M9 is running Android 5.0.2 and is rock solid and never dropped a call. Same with my LG G3. I would send in my S6 for repair, but I'm not sure what they would do. Not only would I get a refurb back, but it might do the same thing. If you've been following the threads, you might have seen that Sprint had to push a special update for it's S6 customers to fix dropped calls. Verizon customers are also having it bad (I'm on AT&T). It can't be all network issues though as like I said, my other devices including an LG G3 have never dropped a call.
Thanks for the response rmc69. I did uncheck the HD lte and it did not help me at all. Let me know if you have a different result. Thank you
The Sprint S6 and S6 Edge have the same problem. I have to turn off the LTE radio all together to have a usable phone. I couldn't send/receive text, I had dropped calls and a very poor signal. Once I turned the LTE radio off, all those problems went away. I realize this is not a fix but it's a workable bandaid for those that are having problems. Good luck to you guys.
Turning off lte did not work for me.
Robert, how did you turn off LTE? By going into the testing mode and changing it from there? Or were you simply referring to unchecking Enhanced LTE Services?
I think I figured it out from this thread, at least for AT&T

I tried that, it did not work for me.
Sorry turning off LTE still didn't help. I guess the only alternatives now would be to wait for 5.1.1 and see what it fixes, or you may just consider asking for a replacement.

Yeah that is what I'm afraid of. Every time I go to the at&t store it's a big hassle. Hopefully an update will fix our problems.
@rmc69, is your phone rooted and running a custom rom?
No; pure stock. It's also a 64 GB model. I'm wondering if there is a difference that could affect reception, i.e., is the antenna placement exactly the same. I changed my band to GSM Auto last night removing LTE and so far, I haven't had any dropped calls, but it's too early to tell. The biggest problem I'm having is that sometimes callers cannot hear me, especially in the car using bluetooth.
I am rooted running DennisRom. Yesterday I did a factory reset via the stock recovery and made 4 calls and did not have 1 drop. I'll see how it goes for a few days and report back.
Great! That's encouraging.
Bad news, I just called my wife and the call dropped before she could answer her phone. I think I may give up and get a different phone. I'm loosing hope.
