I used to have a number of valuable SmartActions configured on my RAZR M, one that I really appreciated was used to silence the phone in meetings. What I really liked about it was that it was smart enough to differentiate between meetings with others invited and events that were on my calendar for my own information. It doesn't seem like the meeting function of Moto Assist is this sophisticated, does anyone know if it can be done?

Allegedly, meetings where you’re marked as "Available" will not trigger meeting mode. So if you add a calendar entry, make sure to verify your availability if you don't want it to activate during an appointment.
^ I am playing around with this now, it conflicts with how I manage my work calendar, but I can work around that if necessary.

You can also tell it which calendars to check under "More options..." in the Meeting section of the Moto app.
Problem with exchange-servers
Meeting mode doesn't work for me. I have a corporate sync account in android for exchange push with my work account. The only calendar i want the phone to be silenced is that acoount. This works when I create an appointment myself, but just does not work when I was invited to an appointment. Outlook on PC marks the appointment as 'booked' so regarding all triggers from moto help, it should be fine. But nothing happens. Did I miss something. Any suggestions?
Asked support about it, answer was a joke imo.

I don't have any suggestions, but I have seen inconsistent behavior, specifically in the problem I detailed above.

I've got the exact same issue. Kind of a pain. Not that is should matter but what app are you using for the exchange sync? I'm using nine and have the issue.

I agree, app shouldn't matter, but I am using K9 and Business Calendar Pro.

Guys,
I have to say Emansio push email works flawlessy - I have tried them all Emoze, mobiPush god knows what else but emansio really delivers
Just thought I would mention it as I was getting frustrated trying to find something decent that worked great with diamond, yahoo, gmail combo...
MODS sorry thought I posted this in Diamong Home forum not ROM Development....
This might be a stupid question - why didn't you just get an exchange account and use ipush email the way it was designed ?? Some exchange accounts can give you pop/imap account checking/forwarding aswell.
Where do you get an exchange account?

I could do but let me explain I have to email accounts:
1x Hotmail - which is push enabled anyway as per any hotmail account with a little tinkering
1x Googlemail which is my primary email address - I also use google calendar and contacts.
So Emansio is pushing Googlemail and OggSync is syncing Google Calender and contacts... this seems so far a flawless combo with hardly any overheads in terms of memory and CPU.
I am not that familiar with exchange - will exchange cater to all my needs?
I use mail2web which has been excellent. I get hotmail and yahoo mail to forward emails to my mail2web account and then this gets pushed to my phone. It syncs calendar, mail, contacts and tasks. Calendar, Contacts and Tasks are then periodically synced to my PC outlook via activesync and so all is in sync. The basic service is free, but there are other services where you have to pay. Not very expensive.
Don't know whether google calendar would sync through this though. You'd have to check.

How?
How is this possible with Hotmail??
Sorry for being such and idiot but I have some questions:
1. Is pushing email free?
2. What is the procedure of push email, what i mean is how does it actually work?
Thanks a bunch fellas.
Go to windows live on your pc and sign in to your live (hotmail) account, then on the top right hand side there is 'options', at the bottom of that list there is 'more options', under the heading Manage your account, one of the options is 'forward to another email account'

1. It depends, some exchange hosts charge a monthly charge, some like mail2web have both free and charged services. However, you obviously have to pay for the data, just like any other kind of data service. If you are on an unlimited data tariff, this won't worry you.
2. No idea how it works (I don't know how my car works either, just as long as it goes when I turn the key I don't care)!

Basically sign into windows live on your Diamond then goto options choose "sync schedule" then set it to "as items arrive" and volia free push hotmail...
The advantage of doing this will mail2web is that you can get all your mail pushed to you from all your accounts. Saves fiddling about with lots of mail boxes on the device. But I'm sure some people would prefer to keep them separate.
Presumably for proper push mail to work the software will need to maintain a data connection all the time? Is this the case with Emansio, and does it drain the battery a lot more?
At the moment I just use google and its imap settings in messaging with it connecting every 30 mins.

Same concern!
Call me dumb, but I use yahoo mail and every time I get a new email it pops up on my email tab, I've set it to check every hour, you can set it for less if you get more emails than me(5 x pink diet patch and 20 x penis extension, both not required). I have a nice unlimited data plan but why would anyone who has a diamond not? If you have a diamond in my opinion you must have an unlimited data plan, otherwise you are just not getting the full benefits of such a beautiful device and should roll back to the awesome old magician.
Yes it can drain battery...
You shoudn't have push email just for the sake of having it...
...yes Emansio always maintains a constant data connection as does push Hotmail... and naturally this will shorten the battery life somewhat in addition to that if you don't have an unlimited data plan then your fooked... but if your out and about and regularly use email for business or personal then push email is for you.
I stop it when I am out shopping etc as there is no need for it but if I need to be contacted easily via email then I activate Emansio.
For those who wan't to find out how it works... cmon guys you have the net and presumably a Diamond with Opera LOL - www.google.com need I say more.
OggSync is great for Google Calendar BTW
This is also new out in beta for those wanting to sync google mail and calendar. Don't know anything about it but might help someone.
http://www.nuevasync.com/
Hi,
Nuevasync looks interesting: Unfortunately it's not supporting email yet.
Emansio: Agree, it's the only push plugin which works fine (e.g. in sleep mode etc). BUT: It's expensive and it ssupports the main email folder only. The meaning of Imap is having the folder structure on the server, so I expect such a tool to inform about every new email in every folder I subscribed to.
According to Emansio support this feature is currently worked on and might be available later in 2008.
Cheers,
Kingshill

Hi,
I'm using Pocket Informant 2007, but I can't seem to get it to send meeting requests.
If I cancel a meeting that has attendees, it will put an cancellation email in Pocket Outlook ready to forward to my PC for sending at next Activesync connection, but I can't seem to find a setting that will allow it to send requests to new meetings.
If I use the standard calendar it does send requests. It even lets me chose which email account to use.
Is this a feature that Pocket Informant doesn't support? Rather glaring ommission if it doesn't! I have searched Google, the Pocket Informant manual, the settings and Google searched the forum, but can't seem to find any information either way. This seems to suggest it's a feature that Pocket Informant 2007 doesn't support. Anyone know if v8 supports it if 2007 doesn't?
Thanks
Steve
I use PI v8.51. It definitely lets you choose contacts to invite and sends email to them confirming appointment. I think that this is also supported in PI 2007. It is a basic Outlook function.
You need to open calendar, new appointment, then it will display tabs at the bottom. One of them is for inviting contacts. It wil also ask you if you want them to be notified. It also alllows you to select a category for meeting etc. and to make notes.
Check it out and let me know if you come right.
Regards,
MAC
Hi MAC,
Thanks for the reply. You are right, there is a tab for selecting invitee's. But, when I select a contact, it doesn't give me the choice to send a notification. If I check the outbox (or inbox, sent etc) on Outlook E-Mail there is no email waiting to be sent. If I cancel the meeting, a meeting cancellation email does plonk itself in the Outbox ready to send next time I use Activesync.
The only way to send a meeting invite using PI2007 seems to be to create a meeting with attendee's, sync with my PC, then open the appointment in Outlook on my computer and send the invites from there (it does helpfully tell me that invites haven't been sent). Which seems a bit of a faf!
If I use the default Calender that comes with WM6, and I create a meeting with attendee's, it asks me how I want to send the meeting invite. Just seems strange that such a killer app like PI2007 doesn't have this function and I felt I must be missing something! Maybe that was a short coming of PI2007....

Sorry to hijack the thread - but I've got PI 8.51 and can't find the setting to tell PI which Outlook account to use to send attendee updates. You seem to be suggesting that such a setting exists - if so, would you mind giving me some direction?

Hi,
it's only me or Samsung Galaxy S default Mail application doesn't support work with meeting requests, like "Accept", "Decline" and then "Send message", etc like on all other devices?
Is there any trick in it or it's just me?
Thanks for any suggestion/s.

Are you referring to Exchange?
Open the request, you will see in between the Responses (the invitee) and the event info, there is an option allow you to tap and select your answer.
Let me know if my reply answered your query. Thanks.

Yes, refering to Exchange.
I can see only "header" with sender, recipeints, subject and decription (body).
In context menu (menu key) is only forward, reply, etc.. no "Accept" or anything like that
Testest on the same account and same message (meeting request) on HTC Desire, worked as expected.
Can you make a screen how you see it?
Thanks!
my apology, should check your calendar instead.
any luck?
My phone is busy with the setup, will try to show you a screen capture as soon as the CPU is free
Anyone? I would really like to know if it's just me or general issue
Thanks a lot!
I'm having the same issue and would also be very interested in a solution?
Can't even connect to our Exchange 2010 server, so can't help you
I read somewhere that "better Exchange support" was coming in the official Froyo release... not sure specifically if this will be one of the "better" things. In any case, I had the same problem, couldn't find a solution.
I'm using a program called "Touchdown" which works well (including allowing you to accept/decline meeting requests), but isn't free.
We should do the distinction between Froyo better support of exchange and the s.it done by Samsung to handle the mail/contact/calendar from exchange
If you don't have the meeting working correctly it has nothing to do with Froyo but with Samsung who doesn't know anything about exchange.
I just received an invitation and I can see it on the mail and in the calendar but there is no way for me to accept it. My colleague with the HTC desire had no issue of course
For instance try to get a phone number from the exchange contact book ( not in the contact that you sync on your phone of course) on your HTC ... it's super easy. Now try to do the same on the Samsung ... you can't unless you buy Touchdown
I have the issue on the Galaxy Tab. So basically I need to purchase Touchdown in order for it to work fine. Will it integrate with the existing e-mail client and the existing Samsung calendar?
It doesn't integrate with Samsung Calendar or mail, it replaces them (you can use both, if you like)... there's a 30 day free trial, download it and check it out.
I'll give it a try and will let you know how it worked out for me. Thnx
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
For the time being it is working fine. Can you tell me how much the Touchdown license costs?
Good afternoon, Everyone - I hope everyone is having a great Saturday so far.
I, on the other hand, am incredibly frustrated and tired of trying to figure this out on my own... Also, I am in the middle of the woods today, and on a mobile device, so I am not as careful as I always am, so if by chance this has already been asked in a different thread, I am very sorry and I apologize...
I have the Note 3 with all latest updates. Not rooted. I also have the Galaxy Gear watch, again all the latest updates. I bought this watch primarily for two uses - to get notifications of my incoming text messages using the stock Samsung messaging app. Check - works great. The other reason, was so that I could get AND read my email messages using the stock Samsung email application. Check - works gr.... uh... not exactly. And HERE is my frustration...
Currently, in my STOCK Samsung Email app, I have the following accounts set up:
3 Gmail Accounts
1 Yahoo Account
1 Exchange work email account
Every time an email comes in on ANY of these accounts, I get an immediate notification on my watch. I can swipe, and read the entire email message. This is ALL I wanted. HOWEVER, even though in the very same stock email app, in the very same combined in-box, if I get a message specifically to my work Exchange email account, the watch ONLY displays that I have a message and to open it on the phone. It will not show ANYTHING in the email. But... the other accounts do with no problem! Why just this account, in the very same email app, with the same appearance and layout as the others??? I need this account more than anything - the others are just for fun and personal family, etc.
I did manage a temporary workaround however, but I am HOPING that you amazing folks here at XDA can give me an idea towards a solution. If I set up a MANUAL account to my work server using IMAP, our work server will allow me to only CHECK the mail, but not send. So I have no choice but to keep the existing Exchange account set up in my Samsung Mail App. However, I set up a SECOND entry in the same mail app, with my email address checking the email from my work server using IMAP and TLS. I just can't send.
Once I did that, I now receive TWO of every email from work. One in my normal inbox without a notification (turned off to avoid all the extra alerts on the phone), and the OTHER entry (IMAP) that I have labeled "Galaxy Gear Work Notifier". Now, the email WILL DISPLAY on my Watch, and I can read the whole email. But, if I pick up my phone to reply to the message, I have to switch inboxes on the mail app to the "real" Exchange one, and reply to the email.
There just has to be an easier way than this!!! I also own the Sony SmartWatch 2, but I personally don't like it as much as the Gear - but the Sony will read everything with all of the second party email notifiers out there.
Regardless that this is an Exchange account, it is coming into the very SAME STOCK SAMSUNG email application - so why do all the other email accounts display their email in full on the watch, but the one Exchange mail that comes in only says "open on phone" - what am I missing? This is driving me crazy, the fact that I can't figure this out....
I would appreciate any and all ideas VERY much - more than you know. Thank you in advance for helping and for the ideas. I appreciate it!

HELLO AGAIN guys - I have an update...
I was so pissed by all of this - mainly because I was SURE there was something that I was doing wrong, and that I couldn't figure it out.... SOOO - I called Samsung, and went to tier 3 support and spoke to an engineer (called the main support line, got to the Mobile device department, then Galaxy Gear), and they said that they were aware that the notifications with Microsoft Exchange accounts, even those set up within their stock app, were temporarily broken and would refer the user to open the mail on their phone.... but an update is being released at any time now again to the Gear which fixes this issue. By taking the Exchange authentication/security out of the loop, this is why my manually set IMAP version of the same email was working. He assured me that they received a large number of calls on this specific issue, mainly because of all the business users who rely on Exchange as their email method, using the stock mail app. So he promised this was being addressed asap. At least, I now KNOW that this was not just me, and that I was not nuts. If it's "supposed" to be broken right now, and they are addressing it, then I'm fine with that and can use my IMAP workaround for the time being...
Thanks very much everyone - have a great rest of the weekend!!!
Mike
Since last update, Assist lets you choose more than one calendar to trigger meeting mode. In my phone, though, it only works for the main calendar.
I've already checked the requeriments for an event to trigger meeting:
is from a calendar visible on device
is from a calendar that you are the owner
has been accepted
is not deleted
is not cancelled
is not all day (all day event box checked) or duration < 24
Meetings where you’re marked as “Available” will not trigger meeting mode
(from https://motorola-global-portal.cust...swer_detail/a_id/94933/p/30,6720,8696#meeting)
My events respect all points in that list.
The only thing that bugged is the "is from a calendar that you are the owner" requirement. I realised all calendars I create are not "as mine" as the main calendar is... Even though I created it through google.com/calendar, in the settings all calendars (except the main one) have a "cancel subscription" option, like it isn't really mine. But that's so weird...
Anyone having the same problem?

Hi, I have the same problem here, I also noticed in my calender that the 'not default' ones I can also 'unsubscribe' to. Even when I create a new one, I can unsubscribe. So I'm thinking that is indeed the problem. Question is, how do we solve it. I've been searching the internet for a solution to make myself owner of the calender, whithout results. Anyone of you who knows how we can do this?
I'm having the same problem. I left a comment on the Play Store to see if that might elevate the issue. It's frustrating that it's been this way for almost a month now.
I'm having the same issue as well.. I opened a thread in the Motorola forums as well but still no resolution ...
https://forums.motorola.com/posts/386638fc4c
I called Motorola support and they suggested a hard reset (not sure what they think that will solve but whatever I tried it anyway because the dude insisted that might fix it...). Surprise, hard reset did nothing. Then the guy said the ONLY other solution he had was to do a factory reset... ughhh.
Ok. Fine.
Backed up all my stuff, factory reset. annnndddddd....
Nothing. Assist still doesn't trigger a meeting from any of my other calendars. I'm gonna give Moto a call again but I suspect they will be no help. I think we're probably gonna have to live without it until they actually listen and realize the feature is broken and update with a fix.
Has anybody else had any luck getting this to work with multiple calendars?
I did some troubleshooting tonight since I was also having the problem reported here. Turns out, I can only trigger Assist using events in the first calendar in each account. My accounts have multiple calendars (for different projects at work), but any events on those additional calendars are ignored regardless of the fact that I checked them off in the Assist settings for which calendars to use. For me, the solution was to put events that require silence into the first calendar of the account. Assist seems to treat that as the primary calendar; other calendars are seen as if they're not owned by the account.
Sent from my XT1053 using XDA Free mobile app
The latest version of Assist (2.3.15) seems to have solved this issue. Secondary calendars are working again for me now.
