[Q] wifi turns on when screen locks after play store update - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
Yesterday evening I did a Play Store update via WiFi at a friends and afterwards the WiFi would turn on by itself. I noticed it because I kept getting the connection is unstable message after I manually turned WiFi off. The phone was trying to connect to a neighbor's open network that is just out of range.
This is the second time I've seen this problem and I'm assuming that since both phones were unrooted stock with all the bloatware disabled in app manager that the problem was with one of the 20 plus apps that updated. I uninstalled all the downloaded apps but it had no affect on the problem I went through all the settings for networks and didn't find any changes. What's the chances that one of the apps I downloaded was compromised. It freaked me out so much I hard reset the phone both times. I currently have set the Play Store to manual updates only so I can catch the culprit if it happens again my questions are is there way to view a log of what uses the the WiFi ? And how can I prevent this kind of problem in the future. And has this happened to anyone else?
Thanks much for your time and consideration

Market problems

I have an AT&T Tab and it has recently been experiencing problems with the market. Shortly after activating it asked to update the market app. As I am usually attached to Wifi, I had no problems downloading apps after the upgrade for some weeks. However, I recently tried to use the market over the AT&T network and it fails completely. In fact, it kills the network connection so that browsing and email fail as well. Removing the update restores normal operation, but it updates again automatically. Is there a reason for the failure and a way to fix it or a way to stop it from automatically updating? Thanks.

I have the exact same problem. I have reported the problem on the general question forum, but nobody seemed to experience the issue.
After the market upgrades to 2.3.6, each time I try and access it while on the AT&T network, the 3G icon in the notification bar disappears, the only way to get the network back is to kill the market app. If I uninstall the market updates and revert back to the original market, then everything works fine until the market updates again. It does work fine over wifi though.
There is something in the market app that disables the network connection. This is very annoying, I hope somebody can help find a solution. I have been having this problem for weeks.
The only thing I have modified in my tab is enabling third party apps using superoneclick (root, enable 3rd party apps, unroot) so that I can use the Amazon appstore.
EXACTLY what I am experiencing. And I have never rooted this device.
Let's hope the issue will be fixed next time the market app will be updated. It seems to be a problem specific to market 2.3.6.

[Q] Problem with wifi after lollipop update on Sprint HK M8

Hello,
My wife and I are both having similar issues with wifi after updating our phones to lillipop. We can connect to the wifi, but apps that require a login or apps that have an optional login are giving errors saying that there is no network (Network issues, no connection, etc.)
Apps that don't work with wifi: Bank apps, Amazon apps, Twitch, Feedly, Speedtest.net, etc.
Apps that do work on wifi: Chrome, YouTube, Drive, Mail apps, etc.
If we turn off the wifi, everything works fine. We both are running stock phones, I've got the HK M8, and she's got an older M7. There are times when a few of the apps will work for a few minutes, but then the issues come back. My wife's phone is also able to connect to our work wifi, when there, some of the apps that don't work at home will consistently work, but not all of them
We've both been told by HTC to do factory resets and to flash the latest stock RUU. The issue remains even after doing this. I don't really want to do the next step of sending in our phones for 7 to 10 days while they "repair" them.
I've tried everything I can think of. I've also factory reset our router and tried every wifi channel and/or security option, hoping that it is an issue with my wifi router.
Does anyone have any idea of what I can try before having to mail HTC my phone?
Thanks for any help.
Sounds exactly like the problem I had. Factory reseting the router took care of it for me though...

Hey there, i have been using an M8 for two months now and the problem that I have, which fits exactly the description of yours, is starting to annoying me. Every time I try to use these apps which need login I have to turn to mobile data to be able to do it. In my case, the issue that us affecting me the most, is with whatsapp, which even though I do can use, I cannot download media on wifi! (Neither pictures nor voice recordings).
It's a real pain in the neck to be doing this all the time, and I have two friends who also have m8s and are suffering from the same problems, so I guess it's something quite generic. Besides all the other android phones in my family work just fine with my router, so the problem is clearly mine. I think that HTC should have done something about it long time ago if it is such a common issue, considering that the price of the device is not cheap...
Anyway, my question is: have you been able to solve the problem? If you have, would you please take a min to share the solution? I would be deeply grateful!
Cheers and thanks in advance
I am using my HTC One M8 HK with lollipop update from the time they released and never had any problem with wifi. I use wifi wherever I go and no problem with anything. Try the following solutions:
1. Check the WiFi Router. Most of the times it is the problem with your router. Check if there is any restrictions or whitelist/blacklist of services.
2. You might be having some apps with whitelist/backlist running in the background. It could be your antivirus app, battery booster or Opera app, etc which does the wifi whitelist.
3. If you are using the sign-in wifi networks, make sure you signed in to the network using the browser window before opening the app.
4. If you are using the VPN (even in the wifi network) you won't be able to open the apps like Bank apps.
5. If the apps you installed are not supported in your country, you won't be able to access.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the apps. Sometimes, when you upgrade to different OS partitions are not aligned properly. Reinstall and check.
Good luck

Mobile data not always working

Hi!
I purchased a brand new P9 32GB two weeks ago and im really happy with it most of the time. I like to save both battery and money by turning off mobile data and background update for most of the apps, even the system apps and keeping the most important ones on. This works great most of the time but i got a slight problem with it. I have mobile data turned off for Google Play Store. If im on mobile data with wifi turned off and i need a app, i will go into settings to turn on mobile data for Google Play Store. But thats when the strange thing happens.. Mobile data wont work for Google Play Store (or any other app). Its turned on, i open the app but it tells me i need either a wifi connection or mobile data connection. The only way to fix this is to turn on mobile data and background update for every app and restart the phone. My friend also bought the exact same model but from a different store, and he also experienced this problem. The method by enabling all the apps and restarting the phone usually worked for him, but last time it didnt work at all so he had to return it to the store and get a new phone. I've also been in contact with Huawei's customer support but they hadnt even heard of this problem.
So im asking here. Does anyone know what could cause this problem?
Note: Device is not rooted.

EVA L09 Nougat Push Notification Problem

Hey Guys,
Today i upgraded from MM to Nougat and flashed the Moonlight ROM (nobody answered in the thread) ...so far everything works fine, but I have massive problems with push notifications...i receive push notifications just from whatsapp or email...from apps like flashscore (sports app) I dont get notifications
Can someone help me?
Could a new flash of this rom help?
Edit: everytime I turn off WIFI and turn it on again, it works for a few Moments...and I receive all the messages I missed at once
The same happens with mobile internet
I have exactly the same problem and can say it's definitely GCM related, as i first experienced it while trying to get the "Join" app (great pushbullet alternative) to work properly and ran the diagnostics that are included within it. The problem seems to pass for a while when the network status changes, then no pushes come through at all until it changes again, eg. connecting or disconnecting WiFi or turning airplane mode on and off. Im pretty sure it's not battery-saving related as it occurs regardless of if the app is active or working in the background, unless it's the Google play services part that gets killed after some time but i have no idea how to check it. I've tried some heartbeat interval changing apps but unfortunately none did the trick and I'm out of ideas and this is pretty frustrating

S6 Active on AT&T - DQE1 firmware giving me wifi problems. How do I stay on DQD1?

S6 Active on AT&T - DQE1 firmware giving me wifi problems. How do I stay on DQD1?
So I had been putting the nougat builds on My S6 Active from a post here on xda. On the DQD1 build everything seemed pretty good for me. Then one morning I awoke to see that the phone had automatically updated itself to the DQE1 build. Then the problems started. Every time the phone would go into lock screen and I'd re-open it, I'd get the wifi connection message. Also had all kinds of problems staying connected to wifi. I put DQD1 back on to do some testing. Problem is, it keeps updating to DQE1 overnight. I found 2 places in android to stop it from doing that but both don't seem to stop it. Again, it updated to DQE1.
Some have suggested that I freeze the update application with package updater pro. Before I go that route, what application or service am I trying to prevent? I got another app that is supposed to allow me to suspend applications/services but I can't seem to identify what app/svc I would actually want to suspend.
U open app ATT Smart WIFI -> to settings. and config app.
or disable thit app.
Now, check wifi again.

I've had the same problems. I'm hoping the suggestion from above me works.
