I have a T Mobile M7 with HBOOT 1.56. I've unlocked, rooted it and installed a custom rom on it just fine with S-ON. I'm trying to return it for warranty, and I've spent hours trying to get just a stock recovery and ROM installed. No RUUs, prepackaged AROMA installers, etc. will work so far. I want to try and get everything restored with an RUU after getting S-OFF on the phone. I've tried some of the utilities in the past without any luck, but have run across some threads saying that some some roms work better than others. What Roms have had the best success with Firewater etc. on HBOOT 1.56. No luck currently on Maximus HD 44

try some combination of custom rom with unsecured kernels. ARHD, elementalX for example. You could also try other exploits like Sunshine s-off
Should I be flashing the unsecured kernel separately after the rom?

Some roms already have unsecured kernel so you might want to try using the kernel included with the rom before flashing another kernel.
I tried ARHD and Maximus HD without any luck, so I'm just going to try to find a reset rom. I posted a new Q thread since it was a different question. Thanks!

Hi Guy's
I am running a HTC one M7, Bought outright in Australia unlocked
-When I first got the phone I got rid of sense and rooted it and loaded up Bigxie Google rom 4.3
-I decided today to try upgrade to 4.4, I made a big mistake and went ahead and did it without S-Offing
-Long story short I had to side load 4.3 again after getting the Bootloop with 4.4 I assume due to no S-Off
After getting the phone back up and running again on 4.3 I have spent the last 8 Hours trying to S-Off
So far I have tried RumRunner, Firewater, temproot then firewater and Revone. All seem to fail or just finish with
no error, Rumrunner mentioned something about an Unsecure Kernel I am running kernel "3.4.10-ge22f38b"
Im running HBOOT-1.54
SuperSU v1.94
CWM 6.0.4.8
Anything you can suggest? is it possible to change kernels and if so what to?

hmm, no version-main.
anyway, hboot and radio would indicate a 2.24 version, so find a custom ROM (such as http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407589210 )
which is rooted and has an unsecured kernel
then try firewater and rumrunner
But please remember S-Off allows you to do a lot of things, including hard-bricking your phone, so do this only if you feel you are good with the idea of S-Off and have done some research about the various components of your phone.
.
Thanks, I will try.
Really the only reason I want S-Off is so I can load
"[ROM][m7]Android 4.4 KRT16S Google Play Edition - Rooted/Busybox/Odexed (11/26/13)"
Seems easy for most users phone but not mine
Hello All!
At first sorry for my bad english but i think you will understand it!
I got a S-off problem to!
My phone is HTC-Dev unlocked and my phone is currently running Viper.
Now i wanted to S-OFF because i wanted to run Android Revolution HD 6.1
Google Edition.
With Firewater i get a error.
With Rumrunner it's keeps running till 8 and stops
With Moonshine its keeps also running till 10 or something...
this is mine Fastboot Getvar:

Just an update, I finally got S-Off, at first I wasn't going to bother with continuing my Quest to S-Off my HTC One after how much difficulty
I had however after having glitchy issues with my Google 4.3 ROM I delved in again and ended up flashing the Latest ViperOne venom Rom, after this I tried RumRunner again and after a while it successfully S-Off'd, now going to retry loading Google 4.4, maybe I should give the Viper ROM a go but I just like the look of the google rom more I think
Thanks a bunch for all the help in this post and the forum
Hey guys, i was trying to s-off my m7 and stubbornly did not realise that my Hboot version is not supported. Hence I've tried many methods, changing roms relocking bootloader and flashing RUU. And when i've realised i can't flash RUU for my Hboot version, I've gave up and re-unlocked my bootloader... And now it's stuck in a bootloop... Anyways to get it to work again?

try flash it with mike1986 Rom .and use lastest CWM recovery
Read this thread if you want to return to stock, read it all first before applying the steps as some of it can be skipped.

Mike's ROMs can only be flashed with TWRP recovery and TWRP 2.6.3.3 is recomended
Did you know that you can flash the particular HBoot version that is compatible?
I've had to do this countless times. As long as you are S-Off, you can downgrade to a previous HBoot before flashing a new RUU or update. As far as I know, most of the 1.26 - 2.X used 1.44. I believe 3.X updated to 1.45 or something like that, then the newer 3.x - 4.x use 1.54 and 1.55. Someone should correct me if I am wrong about some of this, as I can not remember the particular firmware versions associated with the correct HBoot as it has been a while. But this should at least get you informed.
Hello,
I recently flashed RUU-HTC_One_GE-2.14.1700.15 to my M7 to see what it was like. Not getting on with it very well i decided to go back to ARHD. When i tried to restore my back up it got stuck in a boot loop.
I then tried a fresh install of ARHD, deleting all data, but this time it will show the splash screen hang for a while and then reboot into recovery.
I have also tried flashing Venom's latest ROM but it dose the same as ARHD.
I am S-OFF and my HBOOT is 1.54
when i do a get getvar all i get the following

update your recovery to TWRP 2.6.3.3
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
and flash any roms you want... Do Not Go S-on with the GPE Bootloader installed... RUU back to Stock before you consider s-on .. better yet stay s-off forever !!

This worked a treat. Had to load an older version of ARHD first but got up to 71, eventually.
Hi all! I'm completely lost trying to find the right recovery rom for my phone. I can't get S-Off, so I'm going to just flash stock recovery/rom onto the phone. However, because it's a later firmware I'm struggling to find the correct ROM. Guru reset didn't come with working screen drivers and running an update mutilated the install. I can not find a Guru Reset for your version but here is the RUU 5.14.531.11, since it is a RUU you will have to "Relock" your bootloader to run this file. It will take you back to stock and if you want you can then update your phone to the latest version over the air. I'm not sure which RUU you tried to run but if it was the 3.24.531.3 version then it is lower than your version. With S-ON you can only run those that are the same or higher than your version with a hboot 1.56 you should run 4.xx.531.x. My guess the Guru Reset was a earlier version as well.
