Streaming Bluetooth audio to my LG soundbar works only within 6-7 feet, everything beyond it gets choppy frequently.
I did the same experiment with an older ipad2, sgs2 and the newer Nexus 7 2013. All worked fine within the soundbars specs, 30ft. The nexus actually stretched it the furthest, I streamed from my second floor with only one slight interruption.
Is it that my phone is faulty or is just the compatibility with this exact soundbar? Are there settings or other means to improve the bt signal/range?

is your phone stock or custom recovery / rom
Viper rom latest with elementalx 18.0. Also on latest sense fw.
I will definitely try it again with stock kernel although I doubt it's a kernel issue. I might try perhaps a different radio but if anyone knows a proven way to make it work.. I surely appreciate any input on this.

Using a RUU back to stock always worked on my AT&T M7
I seemed to have that problem when using the Developer Edition software versions
In case someone experiences the same issue and hopefully before rma-ing his/her soundbar, I isolated the issue to the custom kernel I was using. As soon as I reverted to stock I could take my phone 30ft or more without a single hiccup.

So far have been very disappointed with my Incredible S. The phone is from Optus running:
Android 2.3.3
HTC sense 2.1
baseband: 20.2803.30.085AU_3805.04.03.15_M
Kernel: 2.6.35.9-g09f1d1f
Build number: 2.12.980.3 cl37872
I gave my wife my old HTC desire which is working better. Better sound, applications run better. I have had a few complaints from people who have called me that I sound like I am talking through a blanket (quiet). No issues with the Desire.
Talking Tom on the desire works great. On the Incredible S it has very bad lag and does not pick up that I am talking. Maybe once out of 10 times will it pick up that I am talking. This application is no big deal but it is an observation that for some reason my Incredible S is struggling compared to my Desire.
I have tried searching for some Gingerbread updates but have found nothing.
I bought the phone back home in Australia but am in Europe now so no way to return it. I will be back in Australia in about 7 months still within warranty so I am stuck with it for the time being.
Has anyone had similar experiences or are there any fixes out that maybe I have missed?
I have done a factory reset couple of days ago and no improvement was seen.
kind of sucks having an inferior product to my old HTC Desire which runs Froyo.
I forgot to mention that a couple of days ago I was speaking with someone and I could hear them but they could not hear me. Rang them back and same problem.
I have a feeling my microphone must be bad. I tried the voice recorder inbuilt in Gingerbread and the playback volume was pretty low when the volume was all the way up. Also the playback was not crystal clear and there was background noise.
Poor Call Quality and poor playback volume...
Exactly. You are right... I'm facing the same problem... 1st i thought may be the problem with my phone only or because of the network problem. I'm using this in middle east. Then i inquired about the phone and i came to know that 5 of my friends are facing the same problem and all of them are from India.
Very poor call quality and playback volume is also not clear. Having some noises in background.
Really really disappointed with HTC incredible S.
I mailed the HTC Customer care 2 or 3 times. tried all resetting and updates.
No use...
Please let me know if u find any solution for this.

Call quality issues for me too.
The only workaround is to use my Bluetooth headset Mw600 and then the call quality is fine for both sides.
From what I've found on some other forums, the noise cancelling microphone is causing this issue... Didn't find solution to this though.
No issues when listening to music when using headset.

Might be something wrong with your units, I have none of those problems mentioned. I have optus incredible as well, all my software info matches yours

Mines fine, not problems with sound or playback, I too have an Optus incredible S. I have recently flashed it with a de branded virgin rom and I still have no problems with anything. If anything the battery life is alot better after de branding my phone but call quality is great.
same problems, I love my phone but i get ALOT of complaints that people cant hear me!!!
No mic problems here with my IS. Sound is crystal clear in 720p video recording. A friend rated 7/10 of my voice over the call.
Running Gingerbread Android Revolution HD 1.0.1 and MDJ's Unity v1 kernel.
Had same problem that people complained about not hearing me. Was just dirt in the hole for microphone, cleaned it with a needle and now its working great ;D
Sent from my HTC Incredible S
maybe there's just first in the mic hole or you're covering it with your fingers or you have a case that covers it.
I have dust under the screen. It's very, very annoing. I have that phone for a month. I expected that issue from firs week. Sombady else?
No dust under my screen. Still no problems either.

my call quality is exceptional since updating to android revolution hd.
music playback is great too.
but to be honest, if talking tom doesnt work, you should really take it back for a refund...
Hyper dissapointed after update to 2.3.3!
There were only one time, where a friend complained about bad hearing.
Otherwise, i don't have any problems with the IncS - so far...
sorry to bump a old thread but has anyone found a fix to the talking tom problem? doesn't matter much but still.
all the "Disappoint" comments are from ppl who only have few posts in xda forum.
are they hired guns from apple or samsung etc?

Get in touch with the developers might be a good thing, or try different ROM's and see if it's working in any of them.

Using ICS 232 leak I am able to utilize Webtop 3.0 nicely. I have encountered an issue with the HDMI out of my phone being a fixed volume. If I change the audio routing from HDMI to phone speaker I am able to change the volume on the phone. Every time I put it in the Lapdock I must change the routing manually to Phone Speaker. I am trying to find out if anyone else has had this issue.
I assume if I were to hook up to another device besides the Bionic Lapdock I would control the volume from the other device but the Lapdock even has nice fancy function keys for this purpose. Should you have installed ICS Leak 232, have a Bionic Lapdock and a Bionic (goes without saying) I would appreciate you seeing if you see the same issue. Failing that I would be curious if any other Lapdock model exhibits the behavior.
Thanks a bunch!
<rant> The one thing that kind of sticks in my craw is not that I am beta testing for Motorola and VZW. It is the fact that VZW and Moto want to tell you that you voided your warranty because you used the software that they intentionally leaked. How many leaked copies of Windows betas do you really see? Certainly not 4 different releases in less than 6 weeks. These companies are smart. I don't mind testing stuff, just don't tell me that their software leaks void their hardware warranty. </rant>
I'm with you. I've had broken audio control since moving to Webtop 3.0 on ICS leaks. I've searched the forums (including the RAZR and Atrix forums) to see if there had been problems on other devices and I only found one proposed way to fix it- turn off the audio effects when in webtop. It didn't work for me though. This might be something that just gets fixed along the way to a stable build. I've also had the same thought (that you mentioned also) that it could just be a problem on the "Bionic Lapdock" and not the newer models. Hopefully we get some answers soon?
I'm on the .232 leak and the volume keys work just fine on my Lapdock 500. Works with audio effects turned on or off. Wonder what's different?
[edit] Just noticed you are both using the Bionic Lapdock rather than the 500 -- that must be it. Hopefully they fix it in a future build.
I'm going to give the audio effects controls a try a little later. I could simply use external speakers with the headphone jack as I have an audio cable to use with my stereo.
I'm just frustrated because I was honest with VZW about what I had done with my phone and now it is out of warranty. No need to wield empty threats about another vendor, it's about the network, but their business practices leave something to be desired.

Now I know why my Lapdock was only $50.
Crippled hardware because they don't wanna spend the time or effort to develop the drivers properly. I do have to say that the webtop 3.0 does run very nice.
I never ran the earlier versions of webtop I don't know the difference.

Honestly I plug my radio in most of the time because of how awful the speakers sound in the lapdock but it would be nice to use the device properly.

Ok, first up let me just start by saying what a fantastic phone this is. The design is beautiful and really needs to be seen to appreciate the build quality. I will certainly be keeping this one and selling on my iPhone 5. The screen is fantastic and the sound quality is amazing.
The only issues I have found so far are to do with the bluetooth connection to my parrot car kit. Now this may just be down to the car kit but when playing music every 20 or so seconds the music stops and stutters then kicks in and carry on, this seems to happen 5 or 6 times then it settles. Also during phone calls over bluetooth the audio quality is pretty bad, almost like the reception is failing but it's not as when I try with the iPhone 5 using the same same sim card it's perfect? I am going to try and downgrade the firmware on my car kit but wandered if anyone else had experienced any similar issues?
Overall though the phone is fantastic, and if you are currently waiting to receive one, rest assured us worth the wait.

it is probably just your car kit firmware, but i dont know why you think rolling back would help?
surely an update is more likely to fix - have you checked the manuf. website?

Sounds like the HTC One X+ issues all over again...Really thought they would have solved the issue by now.

Turn the wifi off to remove the BT audio issues in your car - I get the same problem, apparently it will be fixed in the next fw update.
BT Audio metadata is very spontaneous though. This morning it showed the first track I played and wouldn't update it - on the way home it failed to show anything and I couldn't skip tracks with my car controls, I had to use the phone.
It's a known issue according to HTC, turning the wifi off and on again fixes it for me though.

Did Whompasaurus come with the kernel or did you flash it after the fact?
I may, because the phone tends to get "stuck" on 1X or 3G and refuse to go to 3G or 4G even if there is a strong signal available. I usually have to toggle data to fix it and it's getting annoying. Other phones, including the S4, do not seem to have this problem.
Apart from that the One is pretty much flawless, so I'm just waiting until the end of the 14 days to see if the irritation of constantly switching data off and on gets to me.

Awesome! I'm running Viper right now. I'll trying flashing over that and see what happens!!
Not at all...this is actually the first phone I haven't had any issues with. Not even considering rooting right now just b/c everything works...HTC One ftw
Had the S4 for less then a week before I brought it back and exchanged it for the ONE. Best decision I have made during my 14 years with Sprint. Didn't like the feel or performance (in my area) of the S4 at all. Lots of reception issues, dropped calls etc. Plus the phone just felt "cheap"

Would never switch to the s4, I have used the s4 extensivly. I updated to viper 1.1.0 and no issues with the back and home button anymore, big thanks to viperboy for all his work. Also a huge factor for me is the front speakers, makes the whole phone experience that much better.

I have both. Im using the s4 but still play with the htc one. I bought both off craigslist for a really good price. They are both amazing phones. I cant decide which to keeo. I love the sexy design of the htc one. The speakers are amazing and i love the music app. I really love fact it downloads the cover art automatically. Then the S4. I love the bigger screen. I love touchwiz. I love the fact it has more features. I looooove the meny button being stationary and not different places dependin on what app your using. The fact is there both amazing phones. I think samsung listened to the consumers complaints about the s3 and note 2 and did its best to put out a product wed all love. I think htc listened to the complaints about tue htc one and the one x and did there best. I lean towards the galaxy only bc all my tablets are samsung and my fiance has the s4 so im just more comftorable with touch wiz. But the htc is super quick very snappy if you know what i mean lol. Try repairing at the longest possible distance while the car is running so it hunts for the best BT channel. Start far enough away so that it fails. Then get closer until it works.
Bluetooth works great for me, finally since it was awful on the EVO 4G LTE. Only problem is voice command prompt volume is too low.

Does any one know of any programs that monitor the Bluetooth connection so I can see if it changes channels or even something where I can force it to change?

I have been having the same issue with the LG Optimus G here in KC. It is a network issue. It is how the phone trades off between 3G and 4G. I will be on 3g and my wife is on 4g at the same time. There shouldn't be a difference between S4 and One. They have the same modem.
Already did and I'm happy
First one to 64GB on Sprint gets my business (for the S4, that means 64GB +64GB SD Card).
I'm running Pure Nexus ROM on my Nexus 6, and the bluetooth radio seems very weak. Compared to my LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy S3, I get crackles on my bluetooth headset, and have to use it in the ear that is closest to the pocket I keep my Nexus in. The other phones work fine. I don't even have a case on my Nexus. This is beginning to be a deal killer for using the Nexus, as I spend lots of time on my bluetooth headset (A Plantronics Voyager Edge).
Is there any fix for this? Could I flash a different radio/modem and fix it? Or did I just get a bad Nexus, and I'll need to sell it, or get it fixed?
Help much appreciated.

I do not have that issue and those who run a custom rom do not either nor have reported. You did not give details about your phone or setup so I would first advise try to reflash the radio or a newer radio see if BT is better.

I don't think you have much to lose to experiment. Try different radio downgrading and or doing a full wipe and go full stock see if issue exist if you are on a custom rom. Just make needed backups to restore later.
