Hi foks!
I've read in a Tech review that de 2x is withnissing signal droppes when held with your hand.
Can anyone conform this,
I know it will drop on every phone these days and I don't mind if the signal drops.
As long as not everything drops.... (so you still have atleast one signal bar).
I have big hands and am worried about this problem.
I know where your coming from here my hands arnt the smallest..... maybe a case will help? (laughs.... iPhone 4)
Then don't cover the bottom of the phone where the antenna is located.
No problems here.
No problems here either both wifi and gsm are stable

Just got the phone.
Signal drop is max 2 bars, I can live with that.

Will do when I have some time.
I don't have antenna problems (as far as i've noticed) but.... I do have one strange problem, I am able to call, and be called., but sometimes I can't hear anything and I'm also not able to talk to the other person. The other person can't hear me as well, it's like a total calling black-out. After rebooting a few times, it works again.. Does anyone has this as well ? (I haven't found out what's causing this)

Hmm.... sounds like you either have a faulty unit, in which case try taking it back or its something to do with your carrier? have you ever experienced these problems before with your carrier?

I have this issue when the setting is on GSM/UMTS. Then when holding the phone operating it normally you can see the signal drop to one bar and sometimes zero bar. When set to GSM only I get full bar any which way I hold it.
The antenna is clearly on the bottom of the device. Covering it with the palm kills the signal bassically. True tale.
From anandtech:

I tried it now with 2 hands and full signal. There is no difference.

How long have you been having these issues?
Are you 100% sure it's not carrier issues / local interference.
I manage 15+ mobiles of various makes at work and see the issues you describe maybe once a year, they are usual resolved by rebooting a couple of times and maybe waiting an hour or two.

I had these issues since Tuesday evening and Wednesday almost all day, after booting up to 3 times, it works for a few moments and then it was dead again(I also had some problems with changing the volume in media, the buttons just didnt work in some games). So today i decided to do a hard reset, and so far everything seems like it's working. I tried to call a few times today, and it worked. But there was one moment there was this strange noise, like a zooming bee.. really soft, but the other person could hear it better than me. I was also able again to change the media volume in games.
If i experience any troubles I'll share them again Thanks for the replies so far
-- EDIT
It happened again -.- Can't hear or talk again. Going to call LG and T-mobile about it tomorrow

I decided the cancel my contract renewal with this phone. Returned it to T-mobile and i'll just wait a few more months to see what will come ! I just didn't want to take a risk to use the VIP service within the 8 days you can decide to agree on the contract or not. And also, having to use the VIP service while your phone is just 2 days old gives me a bad feeling about this phone (also reading other stories about bugs and stuff). I hope others do enjoy their phone

So I just got my Bionic today, and I tried to play some music on it. The phone's speaker is fine, but for some reason, when I plug headphones in and start playing music, I will hear a faint high pitched sound in the background. And when I press pause and the music stops, the high pitched sound will still be there for a few seconds, and then no sound.
Does anyone else have this problem? Did I just get a faulty unit? I tried with all the headphones in my house, and the same thing happens.
I'm hearing the same thing when the phone is plugged into the car dock and plugged into my car stereo. It's very faint but it is there. Seems to go away after I start playing music. It's not there when the music stops.
I'm definitely getting the same thing on my over the aux cable in my truck tried other cables too same thing

I've got the same problem here as well. It m to new the thing I can focus on with the headphones in.
Ya this is a huge problem. My friend, who got his phone yesterday, has the same problem.as well. He is going to verizon to see about it, but it looks like to be a design defect.
I notice it, only if i have my headphones plugged in and i'm not playing music....... its not a big deal to me, because why would I have my headphones plugged in with NO music playing??
Its definitely there for me. It sounds like the type of noise that can be induced from a ground loop in the charging circuit from a car. The sound is there for me even when I do not have a charger connected through...
Not to sound crazy, but I get the exact thing happen to my G2X.
Wrong forum yes but I couldn't help but comment on this. I hear that sound when the screen is off. Goes away when screen is on.
Happens on stock and custom ROM.
>> Ya this is a huge problem ...
More of a minor annoyance in my opinion. I barely notice it.

Alrighty, I think it's safe to say that everyone is getting this. We don't really need 5 pages of "I have this too."
I guess we'll have to wait for an update for Moto to address day-one bugs.
Add me to the list of those with this problem.
High pitched whine when listening to headphones(tried multiple headphones) through 3.5mm jack. Goes away ~3 seconds after pause playback. Only hear while playing media. Easiest to detect when media volume turned way down. and/or quiet portion of song.
This thread is being used to track % of phones that have the issue. Take a moment to reply.

I sent them an E-Mail and was told to do a factory reset (which I had already done, but for another reason). I told them I did this and they then said I was the first person to mention this problem and it must be unique to my phone. I then sent them 3 links to various forums with members discussing it, many of whom had also contacted support. I told them it was a very well known problem and I was obviously not the first person to contact them. They ended our conversation by basically saying the phone has a 1 year warranty from Motorola and I may take it back to a Verizon Wireless store at any time and if they can replicate the problem, the phone will be replaced
yesterday i got bluetooh head phones from the verizon store that were 50% off and they sound great. no noise at all. i think that it might have something to do with the wire. maybe the bionic has a faulty ground because alot of people are complaining about noise with headphones.

I use the Motorola S9-HD Bluetooth Stereo headset and it sounds great as always. It must be a problem with the wiring, but I do find it strange how the noise varies in volume a lot and when audio stops the whine stops within 2-3 seconds too. That makes me wonder if perhaps it is a software problem. Oh well who knows, once I start playing music, I can barely notice it, but for video it is a bit annoying. I may take Motorola up on their offer of returning it on their 1 year warranty if in a month or so they quietly fix the problem in the next batch of Bionics Verizon receives. There are a few people who say they don't have the problem, but I think those people are just in the group of people who can't hear sounds that are that highly pitched (like the mosquito ringtone). Perhaps in their mid 30's or older, or just not the best hearing. Anyway, it's hardly worth me returning them for the problem, and like I said, if it is fixed in the next year at any point, I will return and exchange them on Motorola's warranty
So quick dumb question. I bought my Bionic off contract / retail price, anyone know if the 14 days return vzw has only applies to subsidized phones or to full retail price phones as well? (my phone has this problem as well which is why I am wondering if I have till Thursday or longer to return it).

14 day return applies regardless of price paid. Probably the restocking fee too.

The problem lies with the fm receiver. Try using titanium to freeze the FMradioservice 2.3.4. If this does not solve your problem then it is a hardware issue. I have become an avid slacker radio user and this seems to have solved it for me but, I just did it so haven't had time to really test it. Please let me know if this works for you or not. If you are not rooted then there is no solution for you other than to become rooted.

According to a user over on the motorola support forums:
"Freezing FMRadioService does nothing."
Had my Nexus 7 for about 3 days now, and love it to death. Something i've found, though, is even when the volume is muted, the speaker still makes a definite pop when i turn the screen on or off, or at random. I thought it was the "touch sound", so i disabled that in the sound settings, but it's still persisting, even when the volume is completely muted.
I'm running the EOS rom, but it happened back on stock as well, and i'm wondering if it might be a defect or just a setting
Bumping with extra details, it always makes a popping sound when I close or open tabs in Chrome.

Google has set aside a large amount of N7s separately from their Play Store stock specifically for exchanges. If you think you have a defective unit, call them and do an RMA. It's a headache dealing with them though, I can tell you that much. They certainly were not prepared to handle the popularity of the N7, even they will admit that.

This is very good to know, I'll call them right away. I'm looking around and seeing similar threads, so it must be a common defect
I'm hoping this problem is just one bad handset and not epidemic, but I have been hearing VERY consistently from other people that they are having trouble understanding what I'm saying. It is not location specific, I generally have full or nearly full service, and I can hear them just perfectly. But I have been hearing from many people that I talk to about this problem.
I'm going to exchange the phone and get a replacement, assuming this is just my phone and not an HTC ONE problem. Has anybody else been hearing this? If so I may regretfully end up with an S4 =\
I have been having issues as well. Just tried to exchange for an S4 at sprint store and they wanted $35 dollar re-stocking fee. Going to deal with online/phone people now. My HTC One is dropping calls, calls are not clear, and lower data connection in the same environment than my old EVO Shift. Wanted the phone to work out, just didn't.

Mine is working beautifully call quality is awesome on both ends and data conection was faster here in boston when put up against my buddy's s4 (also sprint) there were some issues with speakers and radios on some of the HTC ones... mostly the first batch that went out to people who pre-ordered, myself included, but so far i'm issue free.
be warry of that s4 you picked up by the way many people have reported display issues... don't worry though I believe they are software side... people reported black bars appearing on the screen when scrolling I'm pretty sure it's a simple software bug.

Didn't have one for the first 5 days, had it the last 2.. same problems consistent throughout.
i'll confess I use a Bluetooth headset, but the very rare occasion I use the handset I've never had an issue
I was having the same problem, then I realized my pinky was always covering up the microphone. Went 2 days where people were like I can barley hear ya.

It wasn't the pinky for me. As I stated in another thread, I think it's something to do with over-aggressive or poorly handled background noise cutting, or a major problem with dynamic range control going from loud to soft etc.
started actually using the phone for phone calls this week..I'm hearing "its hard to hear you" and "you sound far away" more then I've ever heard before...
It's definitely not the point for me. It happens all the time, most of my calls are using a airave so I'm wondering if that had something to do with it.
Anyone know if this is a sprint related issue? Should I be exchanging my phone?
Is anyone else getting random complaints that you basically got muted? Like, dead air not just quiet. I've heard this from 5 different people now, completely different times and multiple carriers. Not sure if my phone is just jacked, or if it's something else. I'll be talking, and all of a sudden just disappear like I got muted. I've tried toggling mute and such to no avail.
Your face is hitting 'hold' while on a call I bet. Happened to me the first day I got the phone.
Hmm, maybe. But doesn't it say "Hold" on the screen when you do that? If that's all it is, I will forever hide in a corner of shame. lol. I'll check next time it happens Thanks!
I have DEFINITELY had this several times. Very random. For me the only solution was a reboot. I definitely did not hit the hold button. When this weird problem isn't happening I have no sound quality complaints on my end or the recipients end.
It's really weird
Btw ..... Without custom roms and kernels I'm not sure about this phone. The camera is GREAT but the battery sucks! seems like they just can't make a perfect smartphone

Just happened again. First time in a week
that's happened to me too.
Turns out, when I hold the phone to my face, my pinky covers the mic.
I've had the same issue with my 64GB . I've also had some dropped calls. Unchecking "enhanced HD LTE services" had no affect. I just did a factory reset and even removed my Spigen neo hybrid case that at least 2 reviewers on Amazon said caused their dropped calls. Perhaps some, but not all, S6/S6 edge models are having a problem with VoLTE. You would have to ask AT&T to deactivate it on their end to see if it makes a difference. I don't plan to go that far. If what I've already done doesn't cure it, I will have to return the device. I can put up with just about anything, but not dropped calls on a daily basis, or being unable to hear the caller and vice versa. My S4, HTC M9 and LG G3 are all solid as a rock with no dropped calls so it's definitely something with the S6. I've also gone into developer options to check "aggressive wifi/cell handover" to see if this helps. I'll report back if any of these things helped or eliminated the problem. If anyone else finds a solution, please post. By the way, it's not just an AT&T problem. Posters on the Sprint and Verizon forums seem to be having it even worse.
Apparently, something I did in my post directly above has solved the problem. It's only been a day, but so far no more dropped calls.

I have an Samsung Galaxy S6 and frequently I answer the phone and people can't hear me but I can hear them. To be honest it's peeing me off now because I have to keep hanging up an keep trying until it works.
Does anyone else have same problem an if so what did you do thanks
If you're holding the phone in your left hand, supporting the weight with your little finger, you can cover the little hole over the microphone by accident. It's just to the right of the usb port.

Thank God!!! Until I stumbled on this thread, I thought it was just me. Two GS6 phones. the same problem. I have the same problem. last time, I gave up when one friend in particular kept complaining. I just got the G4. This is my second time trying the GS6, and folks are complaining again. I am at wits end. I switch phones. Again.
Holding phone in right hand, nowhere near microphone.
I have a galaxy s6 from MetroPCS and I have the same issue. People on the other and say they can't hear me and I can hear them fine. I seem to cut in and out. I got a new galaxy s6 and continue to have the same problem. The metro pcs representative also had a galaxy s6 and said he had the same problem and that it was most likely a problem with reception. I told him he was wrong, because I can hear them just fine and no one else on my family plan is having this issue over the same towers with different phones. I am very dissatisfied with the Galaxy s6.
Donophant, did you try disabling "Enhanced 4G LTE Services"?
