[Q] New battery for xt894 or not? - Motorola Droid 4

hello,
i'm thinking to change the battery of my xt894 (not enough power for me), and i saw this battery http://m.ebay.it/itm/121306473286?nav=SEARCH what do you think about? could this one gave me problem on phone?

I have it... and it last longer ... like a 15 - 20% than the original.

I ordered mine too! How did you install it? Drain first the original battery? And the install? Or does Android reset the statts for the battery by itself?

Battery stats will auto reset

What a change in battery life. My battery died normally in 4/5 hours. Now stays alive for 14-15 hours!!

guessing you got a bad battery, unless you damaged to battery screw posts on phone, but seems unlikely.

I bought used Droid 4 last month. Battery seems to be in good state (2-2,5 days of light use), but every time it gets to ~40% it immediately drops to 20% (within few seconds). Is there a way to delete battery stats so it can detect percentage correctly? I tried to discharge it completely and recharge again but it didn't help.
Phone is running CM11. Any help appreciated.

if battery's charge is very low, it could take a while to show any change. Normally batteries has some charge, but who know when the battery was made and packaged, could have been a couple of years ago. I would leave connected to wall charger over night.

I tried to let it charge with the charger, after 15 minutes it reached 15%, and when i unplagged the charger it dropped down to 4% (but the charger was really hot)... I will let it charge for some hours, maybe the battery and the system should calibrate their self.... I hope it will work, i'm tired of my n900 yet (and i don't have money to change phone now)

does this battery require a new rear cover?

droid 4 doesnt require a new rear cover but it will wear out quickly if you remove it frequently. you can even keep the phone without a rear cover if youd like because the stock battery has a glue that holds it together with the phone along with the screws for the flex cable

Battery life

I bought an Incredible S a while ago and have been exploring ROMs and installing them. I am now on IceColdSandwich and currently satisfied with it. The only problem is the battery life, I fully charge it, take it out of charge, roam through home screens and I have 95% battery. I tried updating the radio to .24 one (built for Ice Cream Sandwich). So I was wondering if there was something I was missing or if there was a fix for this. Any help in this regard would be highly appretiated.
Thanks.
is it 2nd hand incredible s?
when you fully charged, did you leave it connected to the charger for a while?
one thing you might want to try is to turn off the inc s when it finishes charging... and plug it to charger again.
it will start charging again in case it's actually not full...
otherwise: do a battery calibration

And that's probably what all those apps will do.
And the reason for why your battery drops from 100% really quickly is because HTC made it that way. When you charge it'll charge to 100%, then stop charging until it has dropped to x% and start charging to 100% again. Repeat that until you remove the charger.

will the battery be ruined if phone is constantly plugged in?

i'm currently using my note 1 as a secondary monitor and it is plugged into the standard charger while doing so. Will the battery be constantly 'zapped' as I use it? or the battery can remain 'like new' if it's always plugged into AC?
Thanks!
Might be,might be not. I did that sometime, even on my laptops without any problems. But the recommended is unplug when it full charged and charg when its 1-10%. I use battery doctor app for trickle charge for long live battery. And btw the OEM stock bettery is cheap anyway. From now till ur battery is getting drain like hell its would be take like 6month to a year.
Just saying ...

It's better to discharge it completely, then recharge it completely from time to time.
Full cycles of charging and discharging keeps the battery healthy for a considerable time.

Also, keeping the phone on charging even after it hits 100% causes the battery to swell. You will not see the effects immediately, but after 4 months, the battery will be swollen on one side. And swollen batteries like to self destruct.
Every battery can be recharged several times[for exm: 500] If you charge it 5 times per day = 100 days battery life. So i think its better to dont remove adapter when battery hit 100%. The new cell phones and laptops got protection and they dont charge the battery when its fully recharged.
This is just my opinion.
Some time ago I did a little research, because I was using my phone as a wi-fi modem for my laptop. Most opinions said, that constant plugging may affect your battery life and best is not to keep it plugged when fully charge too often and for too long.

no it actually does not cause this... the batteries and phones have smart circuitry which prevents battery overcharging.
now fully cycling a battery 1-2 times a week will extend the life of the battery..
As far as I remember from the tech-news, newest energy cells (li-ion and li-poli) shouldn't be charged like the old ones - I mean charge 12h, then empty it completely and repeate the whole process 3 times. I read it on polish site some time ago and they we're also saying, that keeping phone under chargerer can harm battery or even mainboard.
But as we can all see, there are many different opinions about that
My old note battery swelled and it was because i put it on plug before sleeping to get 100% in the nornibg my battery swelled within months and i had to change it....

Mine did. Swelled a bit on the side, cover used to creak whenever I pressed on the other side
All (reputed) devices that use Li-Ion batteries use controllers that will automatically cutoff charging once the voltage reaches 4.200V/cell.
So you cannot over charge a battery by leaving it on for long duration.
Unlike the older Ni-Cad batteries, there is no memory effect. so there is no need to fully discharge it periodically
In fact, deep discharge of Li-Ion battery will irreversibly reduce battery capacity (Wikipedia -> Li-Ion battery -> Battery life )

Fully charging takes more then 2 days??

Hello,
Since yesterday my phone needs more then 2 days to completely charge? Can this be ROM related or is my device damaged?
I'm running CM10.1 with stock kernel btw.

Check your charger first. A corrupted/duplicate charger would take long enough time to charge the battery to 100%
If it's ok, Try to charge your battery in a similar device. If it charge properly, then the problem might be in hardware.
If it not charging properly in other device, it's time to change your battery..:fingers-crossed:

I tried charging the old battery and that goes really fast. At least for me it's normal. It went from about 55% to 88% in 1,5-2 hours so happily it's not device related. Seems that the new battery isn't working properly. Or should i setup something to make my device recognize the new battery?

There's nothing to setup for a new battery. Only just in first use you have to charge it continuously for about 2-3 hours to calibrate it with the device.
Try one thing, fully discharge the battery to 0% and charge it up to 100% continuously.(whatever time it takes) :fingers-crossed:
If it not helps, change the battery.

There's a doubt. If it's because of a faulty battery, the drain will also be worst na.? But he didn't mentioned it.

Note 8 battery discharges insanely fast on every other charge

I have been want to replace my Note 8 for a while, but decided not to because it would work well every other charge cycle. On days when it's working well, it's decharging at around .8% per hour on idle. But every other time I fully charge it, it'll do this weird thing where it drains at 3%+ per hour on idle. I don't know what to do or what the problem is. There isn't a difference in app usage. Does the fact that I completely discharged the battery on the first day have an affect on how it is now?
I use mine heavily at work, music, messaging, browsing, calls and I get around 12-14hrs out of a charge.

Yes, I've done this like three times. It will work well sometimes until I charge it. Then it will randomly have completely terrible idle time. I think the battery drain outside of idle is actually not bad either, but something makes it drain a lot for some reason. I've noticed it usually happens after I charge my phone.

I was just wondering if there was something I was missing that was causing this. It was draining really fast on idle last night, but the fast discharge stopped around the time 60-70%. I charged it this morning and it hasn't even dropped 1% in the last 1 and a half.
OP try not using the fast charge options and see what happens.

I did try both, but it didn't seem to make a difference. I can't seem to figure out what's making it drain so fast. Right now, it's back to normal. But even when it's draining fast on idle, it's battery life will still be good in actual use.

Try slow charging all the time and also remove SD card if you have one. Also, when slow charging , when it hits 100% power off device, then pull charger out and then back in with device still off, it might read 98% then let it charge to 100% again.

I'll try that. I usually let it charge to 100% and then wait another 30 minutes.
But why remove the SD card?
I am also facing this problem of the battery draining too fast, especially when compared to my previous phone, the S8 Plus (and similar usage on both phones).
Battery usage data does not show any rogue app gobbling up the battery. So not sure what is going on here. Perhaps I have got a faulty device...

When it reaches 100% remove charging cable and power off device then re insert power cord with device off.

Going to Samsung area of Best Buy tomorrow. If they can't fix it, then I'm going to Costco for an exchange.

I want to specify that the battery life when actually using it is great. I was watching netflix for over 2 hours and it drained like 15%.

Wont boot up?

Hi guys,
I'm having issues with my Mi mix where it just shut down by its self and will no longer boot up anymore, it will load the Mix logo for a few seconds (after the initial Mi one) before shutting down. I can access the recovery, and have tried flashing a new rom, as well as fastbooted the original rom on. Is there any way to fix this?
Also, when plugging in the charge cable it will show charging, but stuck on 67%, it doesnt go above that with overnight charging.

Well maybe unplugging battery for a while may sort it, watch a teardown before attempting, I suspect the battery is actually flat and needs charging but it's stuck in some weird situation. You didn't say wether it was rooted with TWRP.
