Problems Flashing International ROMS on N910T - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

IN the past, we have been able to easily flash roms made for International phones on TMO Devices.
The S5 was the best because the two phones were nearly identical and you could flash any international ROM on a TMO PHONE>
That is not the case now with the NOTE 4 and I hope someone can figure out a fix.
I flashed ECHO a new rom on Inrternational today and at first it wouldnt boot - so I switched the Boot Image with a TMO Kernel Boot Image and then I was able to flash - unfortunately DATA did work. (WIFE WORKS FINE)
When I tried to add my APNS - the eror message I got was 'Insert a Valid Sim". So I am at a a loss and hopeful that someone who is smarter than me can figure out what we need to do to flash International ROMS on N910t.
Aside from having to change the Kernel to a TMO Kernal - something else has to happen so the SIM Card is recognized. (after flashing ECHO, when I went to About Phone/Status - there was no IMEI number listed - which is, I am sure, at the root of the problem)
(FYI - I tried inserting a APN XML from a working TMO ROM and that didn't help at all) that was the only thing I could think of - obvious that I am not a dev, right?
So anyway - I am hoping someone has some ideas and can figure out what we need to do to make this work.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Just a guess: the rom you installed included a modem? AFAIK, you really never want to switch modems from the one you have from your carrier. If you have a nandroid you could try restoring your old original modem from it if that is the problem.

[Q] After flashing: Network weak, only Edge, no modems work

First time poster, long time lurker, absolute phone novice.
I am using a i9305 (Hong Kong model, bought from Kogan Australia). I am based in Malaysia. Before all this I just popped my sim card in and utilised the stock ROMs. No issues with 4G or network whatsoever, but the phone got really slow after 4.3 to I decided to install CM11 using Heimdall.
Long story short, I absolutely screwed it up, and the phone showed the "software fail" screen. After scouring XDA and undertaking a number of fixes which didn't work (I'm scared this is what screwed my phone), I finally worked out to flash the Hong Kong stock 4.3 ROM using Odin, which brought my phone back to me. However, now I can only pick up Edge and barely get network reception. It is definitely not a sim issue as my sim in my wife's identical i9305 picks up 4G and network within a second of switching on.
I've searched every thread but cannot find an answer which works.I've flashed a whole bunch of modems but to no avail. I hope I haven't screwed my phone. Threads I've utilised include:

Have you tried wiping your cache in stock recovery (or whatever recovery you have, I can't really tell from your post)? I think you had problems with CM11 since you likely dirty flashed (no wipe of cache, data and system) and used Heimdall instead of flashing it through a custom recovery.
Possible answer

When you wipe the whole system to change to another rom, there is always a good chance that you can lose the modem during the process. Rom's may come with their on custom modem , but may not be fully compatible. try to download and flash with odin the modem of the stock rom once again. Your problem is related with the modem
Sorry for not responding, I was in Korea for work and left the bad phone back at home for the past 3 weeks.
I tried the clearing cache, but no good.
I will try flash the stock modem now (see below I notice the difference).
I noticed while syncing my google account that the IMEI on my phone had changed. Would this have anything to do with the issues I am facing? The below is my "before and after".

Stock modem didn't work.
Factory reset, odin flashed the stock software again (with the stock modem). Same issue.
Followed instructions on this page for missing IMEI: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...warning-guide-backup-restore-imei-nv-t1946915
Tried *#06# but still no IMEI.
Any solutions?
Tried everything I read in lyquidperfection's awesome mega-thread, but nothing works. still got a /01 when I type *#06# and in the 'about' section it now shows IMEI: Unknown.
Everything else works fine, just the internet is stuck on Edge.
so I tried a few more things today but to no avail.
The IMEI shows up as "Unknown" in the phone settings and when I do *#06* I get a /01 message.
However, when I check my IMEI against my Google account, I get the above number.
Any suggestions as how to fix?
as of today, new modem is being release. I9305XXUFNI3
info here
for modem u can read this
download links from page, or this link
im quite new, but i hope this helps.
Thanks. Didn't work, still Edge.
Going to try flash again.
You could try running a different country's stock ROM, or maybe seeing whether you get 4G while using a custom ROM (Liquidsmooth maybe).

1. Restore a working QCN backup (like this one) http://www.mediafire.com/download/4j...4_19-53-39.rar through the download tool of the QPST suite
2. Change the IMEI to match yours. <<<<. DON'T SKIP THIS STEP. There are many way to do this, i used RF NV manager. I can't be more specific since this topic is off-limits on XDA.
3. Perform a factory reset.
I can't test LTE connection, because where I live there is no coverage, but I'll try as soon as I can.

For absolute n00bs like me:
Step #1, use QPST Suite from this thread to install the QCN backup as per above: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...warning-guide-backup-restore-imei-nv-t1946915
Step #2, uninstall QPST, follow this thread (post #4): http://rootzwiki.com/topic/32397-tutorial-imei-backup-nv-with-qpst-us-variants/
>> I didn't have the US version LTE phone, but it works on my LTE International
Step #3, go into recovery and wipe cache and factory reset.
>> *#06# should show your imei, and your 4G should be back. mine came back instantly two months of pain over!!!!!!!!

[Q] 4g problem i9305

Can somebody help me with this 4g problem?
This is what i did:
1.flashed custom ROM (worked like a charm,i did nandroid backup)
2.flashed other custom ROM (didnt like it so I restored the first one from nandroid)
3.everything went well except no imei and no baseband
4.reverted back to stock rom with odin
5.and here is the problem,no 4g signal at all. 3g/2g works fine.
If I post my build.prop can somebody tell me whats wrong?
I have tried to put my sim card in other phone and it works but not in my phone.
Did you enable 4G in Settings?
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, I did...network mode is set to LTE
Is there a test that I can use to test is it a software or hardware issue?
Maybe an issue of Stock rom you flashed using odin.. Which one exactly have yoi flashed? What modem you have now? And finally, is your S3 i9305 or some i9305T variant?
Check this out:
Typ *#*#4636#*#* and goto Netinformation, then you will find a special-setup for the 2G 3G & 4G.
Sorry about my english. Cause i am german.

Thanks for your replies,I flashed stock german 4.4.4 from sammobile. It worked very good about 2 months.
I think that modem is xxufoa1 and version of phone is i9305 lte international.
If somebody could help me with this issue,I would appreciate that. But no hurries,I got new playmate S6 edge...
try doing a complete wipe of data and cache, then flash stock rom again to see if problem persists
I have tried many times but no help...
Hey, try flashing the parambin.zip file (look for it on google related to s3 lte, you'll find it easily). Another thing to try is just wait with the phone turned on with a valid SIM. I found out that sometimes it delayed a lot to get signal, specially when changing SIM carriers on another country. After a while waiting it finally succeeded (probably unrelated but I also saw on the catlog entries about upgrading the sahara file of the qualcomm chip -the modem-).

AT&T Wifi Calling Port?

Hi everyone,
I heard that the AT&T Note5 got an update today to include WiFi calling and the works. I am on AT&T with an n920i model and was wondering if it's possible to rip the WiFi calling from the new AT&T rom and get it working on other variants. I only ask this because I've seen T-Mobile based roms that work on other variants but include T-Mobile's WiFi calling in them.
Just wondering if someone might know or be willing to take a crack at it

I am almost positive it would have to be a ATT based rom running on our device for it to work
I'm sorry to drag this back up but I found CSC files based for AT&T and used them to replace the CSC files on my N920I. I feel like it's a step in the right direction. Anybody have any ideas?
I've been playing around trying to change csc on my 920i as well.
1. What rom are you on. I'm using Dr. Ketan's nougat rom version n8.
2. Where did you get your At&t CSC files.
I got them off this thread :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-7/development/utility-flashable-csc-selection-v1-0-t3450911
3. Can you post the CSC AT&T FILES that you are using.
The one's I got work but is buggy! Not sure if it's something I did or that the files are from the At&t note7.
TIA

I performed all my csc file changes on stock Marshmallow firmware, originally XSA I believe. I used files from this dev's tool: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/utility-flashable-csc-selection-30-t3392949
The actual tool will not work on the Note5. It performs a device check and fails to proceed after identifying the model we're using. I ripped the actual CSC files out (Marshmallow ones, not Nougat) and manually replaced them using the TWRP file manager on my device.
My device booted up, and identifies as an N920I with an AT&T CSC. I even have the option to enable Enhanced LTE services, but selecting the option doesn't actually activate it. (I also have an S8+ that is the AT&T variant so I do have WiFi calling and HD Voice activated on my account) I think it's because of the actual ROM, but I'm not sure. I'll have more time to test things out now that I'm done with exams.

Thanks for reply.
Did same - ripped - files from devs files.
Though the files I got are from a nougat Rom and I'm using on nougat Rom.
Experience is mostly same as you somethings work some don't.
If you have the At&t S8+ can you roo the csc files from there?

I'm afraid I can't do any modifications to my S8+ because of a legal obligation to Samsung's Insights program, but I can trying finding the firmware itself online and attempt to rip CSC files from that.
On the other hand, it may not be worth the hassle. Reading up on the S8 forums, it seems how the handle CSC for the S8 devices is different, adding a new partition called userdata which holds the files for the carriers (not sure if I understood that right though). If I had more technical know-how, I would try to port a full AT&T rom that can be flashed through TWRP and try that on my device, but I have no real idea how to approach that.

I hear you ...
Still It was an idea......
Just FYI carrier wifi calling has never ever been successfully (or even remotely working that I've ever seen or recall) ported to another device (same device or not) or firmware. It's been attempted since day one of tmo releasing their wifi calling. So can tell you CSC edits are a waste of time along with ripping all the WiFi calling bits from att firmware and throwing it in yours. Pretty sure even the CM guys tried porting it to tmo devices running cm and got no where with it way back in the day.
Trying to flash an att firmware (minus the Crap that'll fail, bootloader, etc) *might* work as long as you have an att sim but it might even rely on modem.bins too which would most likely fail to flash since you couldn't do it in the past via odin either. Not sure on that one because I use to always have tmo devices and service so never had to bother with that.

I think I've seen some users on the s7 forums saying they actually got it working. Maybe it was T-Mobile though...
Regardless, you've given me an idea regarding the CSC. The files I used were from the s7, but they were the qualcomm variant. The Note5 is all exynos variants, so using qualcomm files may cause incompatibility.
But if I pull CSC files from the AT&T Note5 rom, then it might work.
Everything is a long shot. The Note5 isn't my primary device anymore which is why I feel alright taking risks and flashing different things. It's like how that saying goes, you'll miss all the shots you never take.

LOST IMEI - Please Help

I did something really stupid and ended up with a bad flash on my NOTE 9 - the result is that I no onger have an IMEI number on my phone - no data at all - no mobile data.
I know what my IMEI Number is from my GOOGLE account - but I don't know how I can fix my phone to get the IMEI number back into the phone.
Any suggestions are grealy appreciated.
I did a google search which had a few suggested ways using the dialer - but when I attempt to do that, nothing happens - I don't get any result from the dialer codes online.
Your help is greatly appreciated
Find the latest software for your phone and install it with Odin. Or emergency software recovery with Smart Switch.

For the benefit of others (to hopefully not make a similar misstep) what did you do to create this issue? Flash a ROM from another region, carrier, etc.? I understand if you prefer not to share... thanks for the consideration.

There was a rom in the Custom Roms section that looked like it was meant for our phones - I think it was the WETA ROM - I didn't read the oP very carefully - totally my fault - it was not intended for the N960F - (but that was not really that clear when I first read the OP - or at least I lverlooked it. i will be much more careful next time. - it damn near bricked my phone.
I tried flashing full firmware in ODIN to fix it -no good - the flashes failed. - I tried restoring Nandroids - they restored fine but IMEI was still missing.
The fix I found eventually was to flash the DEV BASE Firmware that was recently added to the Roms section - flashing that fixed my issues and I am now back and working properly. I tried more fixes than I can count - and all of them failed - I was close to thinking I might have to buy a new phone. Dr Ketan suggested I flash the Dev Base sortware and he was absolultely correct. It worked.

I was able to get around the PUK code through a master reset. Go figure.
There's a thread in the forums that talks about copying your carrier's CSC to your phone and then making the necessary changes to four files in the /efs/imei folder. It's not hard, but you got to be very careful. Instructions are in the thread mentioned above. I have LTE/HD Voice access during phone calls, but I have not been able to get Wi-Fi calling to work because the IMS service FC's when launching.
I suspect it may have something to do with using a dual-sim phone. I have both my AT&T and T-Mobile SIM in the phone, and I'm loving using one phone for business and personal calls. I also have Google Voice and I can use that for Wifi calling if necessary. As a final note, to get access to AT&T enhanced services on a non AT&T phone, you have to use an IMEI number from an AT&T phone that supports its enhanced services. In my case I've been using the IMEI number from my three-year-old Samsung S6 active. I called support told rep that I was using my S6 active while waiting on a new phone and they associated the IMEI number with my cell number.

I have an IMEI number from a Note 9 that was an aTT Phone - I had purchased the snapdragon varient at Best buy and then returned it when I got the N960F . I copied the IMEI number before I turned it in - I suppose I could use that. Can you offer a link to the thread you are referring to?
thanks for the tip my friend.

It worked.

Could you please provide a link to this dev base firmware? Did you need to have twrp and root before installing the dev base?

Samsung SM-925A Updates and/or Custom ROM

I received a free Samsung S6 Edge from some friends. The phone had a busted battery which I fixed. The phone is still on the original 5.1.1 that the phone was released with.
When I try to do updates it says DM initialization not ready. Check network or SIM card. When I received the phone I was told it doesn't work with cell service. I checked to make sure and it definitely doesn't. There are no options for cell service in settings or the drop-down menu. This phone is missing IMEI numbers, IMEISV numbers, and baseband versions too. The only way I found out the IMEI number was it was printed on the back of the phone.
I am fairly certain the problems are software-based and not the motherboard but I don't know enough about phones to be sure. Do you guys know? I also want to remove AT&T from the phone to install a custom ROM on the device. (There is no OEM unlock in the developer options) Can I flash SM-925F firmware on the device to make it factory unlocked or will this brick the device? Will flashing the original SM-925A firmware fix the problems with the device? Please let me know if you need any more information to answer my question.
I found this: //G925A\\ Nougat 7.0.1 Latest Stock ATT Odin files G925AUCS7ERC1 | XDA Developers Forums (xda-developers.com) Should I flash this on my device? Will it fix any of the problems I had on it?
Can I flash the SM-925F firmware? Is the hardware of the factory unlocked phone and AT&T versions the same or will it brick this phone if I flash it?
Since the phone is AT&T you'll have to go through AT&T for the unlock codes before you can flash anything other than an AT&T ROM. To my knowledge there are no custom ROMS for the S6 Edge, but I could be mistaken.

I know this phone is old news however, I actually have the S6 and S7 edge lying around and so i got bored lol...here is my dilemma; Evidently the phone (S6 Edge G925A) had an abnormal factory reset, which is a load of BS, and now I can not get that security detail, which you know calling Samsung always ends to NO AVAIL!! I have flashed with Odin the firmware that my device is on the ERC1 firmware and still I get stuck @abnormal reset. I've searched numerous sites, different forums and still to no avail. Something told me inside that you was the man to drop a line to, any leads or info will be more than appreciated brother...Thanks for your time....
PSSS....
I got my unlock code from AT&T some time ago but the code is 16 digits long and code only takes 8 digits, and of course to hear AT&T tell it, " I simply must not putting the code in correctly"...lmao
