I posted the same question to Diamond forum by mistake.
I want to know what 3G frequency/band (850 or 1900MHz) in being used.
Is there any software?
Field Test maybe?

I have it but what parameter should I check?
"Band" on GSM page shows "255: <unknown>".
What does it mean? How do I check for 3G, not GSM?
I have no clue

your phone needs to W-CDMA or UMTS capabale to support 3G. if you are using WM 6.1 it should also give you the option to automatically select Network type and GSM/UMTS band depending on the network you are in.
to check your options goto start-settings-Band tab- and look under network type and Band if you see WCDMA and UMTS settings there then your phone will use those when in a 3G network.
UMTS bands are typically 2100 or 1900+850
Again all of the above info is freely available on the internet..just google for 3G and you'll be well informed on the subject
Thanks, Prabh.
But I know the Band information tab in Phone setting and I selected;
Network type = Auto
GSM/UMTS band = GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)
What I want to know is...Which frequency (1900 or 850) I am currently on.

Check with your Service Providor they should be able to provide that info for you...just curious but is there any reason in particular that you need to know this info ?

I am going to switch over to Touch Diamond or Touch Pro.
US Diamond/Pro supports UMTS 850/1900MHz but I need UMTS2100 as well
because I often travel to Japan for biz trip.
I know UMTS1900 is widely operated in US but if my area (I live in NY) is in UMTS850
coverage, I will go for Aussie version which supports UMTS 850/2100MHz.
i have a Diamond that only works on 3g using 900mhz 2100mhz frequencies.
My operator work in a different frequency, how to make my diamond to work in a different frequency?
Thanks
up.
here in my area i need to have a 850-2100 not 900-2100.
You are going to need to share a bit more information. Where are you, what provider, etc.
The radio would need to be flashed to a newer radio, but if it's locked than you are going to need to unlock it. So providing more details will make it easier to figure out what you need.
settings-> personal-> phone-> band-> umts/3g
if band is not present, upgrade your rom.
if the right combination of frequency is not there, you can edit the settings via regedit (search on the forum).
my settings show the frequency you are looking for. i use ct 6.4hd rom.

But will this actually change the frequency? I always thought it was a hardware limitation!

You're correct, it is a hardware limitation.

You will need to buy a different version of the Diamond, such as the US version or the Australian NextG version which supports UMTS 850/2100. It is a hardware limitation.
Hi,
I recently bought an HD7.
It seems ok and 100% original but I only get EDGE and GPRS (2G) connectivity. NO 3G :crying:
I tried a few custom/stock roms and different radios (for europe, i'm in Portugal) but I still doesn't get 3G.
About Info:
Model: HTC HD7 T9292
Radio Hardware Version: 5C.0.0.39EEB6
Didn't list the rest because I already tried different OS's, Bootloader's and Radio's (software version)
Note: I already had a HD7 in the past, and it worked just fine with 3G in my residential area.
Thanks

According to Wikipedia:
Vodafone PT - GSM 900/1800 3G 2100mhz
I think it's the same all over Europe.
Any other useful data you need?

I Already tried a different Carrier/SIMCard and setting the APN manually, but and the problem persists.
Did u downloaded HTC own connection setup or something along those lines? It will setup ur connection so u get data in ur phone.

Yes, It was already installed. I even updated it just in case. But it didn't help.
I solved a similar problem adding manually the good operator address in the first line of 'add apn' (you'll find that at the bottom of 'cellular settings'. Otherwise did you try your simcard in another mobile? A ridiculous accident can partially break it...
Good luck

lyumia 822 unlocked: GSM use the SIM card - not working "Internet Sharing" (tethering). Why? What can be done?
What's the error message? "Not working" tells us nothing much.
Also, isn't the 822 primarily a CDMA phone? I mean, yeah it has a SIM slot and apparently it supports GSM as well, but it seems odd to buy a phone that's basically a CDMA variant instead of one that's intended primarily for GSM networks.
One quick check: is your data connection working in general at all? You might have to tell it to use the GSM network instead of looking for a CDMA one.

Verizon 822 is a LTE phone, all Verizon LTE phones NEED a SIM card to run (Verizon is changing to a full SIM card model with LTE...it's about time) and it is factory unlocked (All Verizon LTE phones are SIM unlocked).
To the OP, the Verizon 822 has internet sharing disabled from the carrier, the only way to enable it is to contact Verizon on their network to use it. I know of no hacks of any type to enable it (if someone knows, let me know, I am interested too)
It seems to work fine out of box on the 928, but I have no idea if that is actually hard coded. I remember that for WP7, everyone had to download
JerryJiang's Tethering unlocker for Verizon Trophy.

I have a 928, it tells me I need to ennable it from my carrier if I want to use it. Are you using Verizon and do you have "tethering" enabled on your account or did you find a work-around for it ?
I would love to use it without paying another $20-30 a month when I only need it every once and a while.

No, unfortunately. We have their share everything plan. 20GBs of data including our HomeFusion thingy. I tried to look inside ##PST#, along with the 000000 password, but none of the fields can be changed on the 928. Any luck on yours?

No, I am on the unlimited plan still with me 928...I can't edit anything. Maybe Verizon changed the password for editing permissions?

By FCC law they are supposed to either use the 000000 code or 123456. Its because of one of the bands they use require this as well as all devices being carrier unlocked. It seems though they moved the settings into the sim, so the only way it might be able to be modified is through the Qualcomm boot loader which hasn't been pursued yet.

Just sharing my experience, running 8.1 on nokia lumia 822 in Guatemala with TIGO operator and was having the same issue reported on first post, internet sharing option just hanged and it did not work, today I just install access point app, made sure my TIGO APN settings were detected just by opening and seeing it, went to internet sharing and it finally worked. easier that what expected it was going to be.
Hello, I have gsm unlocked my sprint htc one and I'm now using Metro PCS network. Calls and Text work just fine but, when it comes to mobile data it runs super slow and I have no clue why. Any help appreciated.

Check your APN settings in Settings > Mobile Data > Access Point Name to see if they match these: http://unlockandrepair.com/metropcs-internet-mms-settings-for-android/
The other thing is that the Sprint HTC is primarily a CDMA phone with GSM cabability and the GSM bands may not get you fast data. For instance Sprint LTE band is 1900 whereas T-Mobile's LTE bands are 700, 1700/2100.

Yeah I'll give those APN settings a shot, I'm using T-Mobile's apn settings. Yeah I had read about the radio frequencies , when I first unlocked my phone to gsm no network providers other than Sprint would show up ... So I flashed a T-Mobile radio through twrp.

The bands are hard wired into the phones, the Radio you flashed just enhances the bands capabilities but can not add bands.
Oh I did not know that. Imma try out the settings.
