Hi. So i bought my phone about a month ago and my rear glass has shattered. Bought an insurance when i bought the phone, but i said that i didnt know how it happened, cause i dropped it one time and then it was all good, but after a few days i saw that the rear glass was shattered from something. And since there was no "accident" they couldnt help me. So i went and got my money back for the insurance cause of the 30day return policy they have. lolroflol.
anyway, i will need to replace the glass, but i coudnt find anything on replacing the rear glass on google or anywhere. ive found a replacement glass on ebay, but i wont try anything without knowing how its done.
So does anyone know how this is done, and at the same time keep the phone waterproof?
Thanks.
Here's how to disassemble the Z3 (and the Z3C shouldn't be any different): http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/09/30/xperia-z3-disassembly-guide/

The problem is that if it's not done properly you will lose the waterproofing

The inevitable has happened and I dropped my HD2 and now the glass is smashed into pieces.. the touch screen still works and the lcd looks fine underneath. A couple of questions;
Wheres the best place to buy the replacement parts?
Do I need to just replace the glass or the whole screen?
Is it a difficult job to replace it? the iphone was a bugger to do.
Hi,
I have got the same problem, always carefull and than in a split second it slips out of your hand. With me the "touch" still functioned but the glass was shattered.
I called HTC (in Holland), they have a service center where they can repair it and get full warranty back. It is a very expensive joke (I got a quotation of 267,50 Euro).
I could have my HD repaired by a non-htc company, but they did not give any guarantees. Prices were the same...
I heard that it is possible to only replace the glass, but almost always the digitizer is also (partly) defect. And if not then the chance of braking the digitizer is very big when you try to seperate it from the glass.
I had a lot of calls with my insurance company (no phone insurance) and finally they agreed to pay for the damages.
I hope this helpes a bit, good luck
Regards

how about a broken camera glass, does anyone know how much that costs?
yes
mine broke to and i would repari it
but im wondering to repair it alone becouse there are alot of glass lenses on ebay for like 5 us !
Think you can pick 1 up for about 50bucks..
Check --»Here«-- and --»Here«-- for detailed disassembling and assembling your Hd2..
Edited:
I'm getting the phone repaired through Clean Planet Repair (iphonerepair.com).
I had some problems with them the first time I sent it in, but the manager(?) contacted me and we came to a pretty reasonable solution.
That repairs in progress, so, if your HD7 is cracked there's a place that will have done at least *one* HD7 repair there...

I bought a cracked HD7 and can't find anyone who actually knows how to fix it.
Note:
I bought the phone because "Clean Planet Repair" at iphonerepair.com advertised a $99.99 repair and that seemed like a good deal. I mailed the phone there and they called me to say there was a 50-50 chance they'd break the LCD and I'd have to pay an extra $100 to have that fixed (part + labor) as well. They seemed annoyed that I had a problem with this.
On the site you read these great testimonials like "Trust this place, they stand by their promise." Quite a business model. I would not recommend them.

$100 to fix a screen (replace it) is a good deal, please get it done, as HTC will charge u more for sure..
I'm sure its the same deal as the hd2, you can replace just the lcd, but usually will damage the digitizer in the process so it's easier to replace both pieces together.
Good Luck
Post removed; update in first post.
ugh. This is what I'm most worried about happening to mine. I wish it was made of gorilla glass. Maybe I should have gotten the protection plan after all..
How do you guys crack your screen so fast? i had the HD2 since March and never even got a scratch, never used a case just put it in my pocket always... even droped it twice..
My hd7 is still flawless with no case..
Damn it. I just dropped my SGS from about a foot and a half off the floor and the glass/screen cracked. The phone still works fine but I don't think I can live with it like this. Is it possible to get it fixed? How expensive an endeavor is it to get the glass replaced?
Edit: I don't know if it makes any difference but it's really just the glass that is broken. The display still looks fine and works fine. I'm not sure how these things are constructed and if just the glass can be replaced or if the entire thing needs to be changed. I'm worried that by continuing to use it and carry it around in my pocket that the display may become damaged.
What are the chances that I can get samsung or bell to replace it outright if I stress test it and the SD/motherboard fails again.

If you decide to change the screen on your own, check my thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745262. Replacing my own screen thru repair service would have cost 250€ and by changing it by myself it cost 90€. These days you can get new screen from ebay with ~50€.
Where did you spend the extra 40€ above the cost of the screen? I've not read anything about the repair process but did find some ebay listings for replacement screens for $55, which isn't bad at all.

Phone was very new on the market when I bought the screen. That's the reason why screen cost 90€ then. 2 weeks after I bought it the price dropped to ~50€
Unfortunately
My note 3 has a broken glass
looks like a bullet hit the lower left corner over the phone icon.
The phone is fully functional and you cant see the cracks but you can see where the bullet type crack is.
In the past I had an iphone do something similar. I took it to apple got it replaced free based on how the crack was.
This crack is similar.
Where would I take it to? AT and T? or a Samsung kiosk at Best buy?
I called a local repair place that fixes phones and tablets he wanted 200+ to fix it. Said to not just replace the glass but the lcd as well because to fix the 20$ glass he wouldnt guarantee his workman ship. I saw a youtube video where the glass is glued to the LCD apparently.
Suggestions?
Thanks

If you still have warranty from At&t, take it to them. Call them up and see before going there to waste your time. I did some research for you and on ebay the lcd/screen replacement costs about $189. On a wholesaler place known for parts, it costs about $236.

In all honesty, you're better off just getting it done at the repair shop if and only if you cannot figure something out with AT&T for a replacement.
The note 3 is hardly a month old!!!
Should still be under some kinda warranty! (I would think)

Yeah, call up At&t from where you bought it. I don't know about physical damage like a cracked screen though. That's all you because you can't really prove it magically cracked on it's own. So it comes down to luck basically if they allow you to return it for a replacement. Try and see.

Yes, it's still under manufacturer warranty. But the warranty doesn't cover breaking the glass. (You can always try, but I'd be surprised if they go along.)
If you bought AT&T's insurance, then that will cover accidental damage such as this. But there's a $199 deductible.

Lol yeah and at that point you might as well pay a repair shop.
To the OP, they are not going to warranty anything that has physical damage. Unless you have insurance I can promise you it's not even worth your time to talk to them over a broken glass.
I broke my LCD about a week ago and ordered the the front assembly for about 200 and installed it myself. But patients is the key if that's something you don't have let someone else do it. But I wouldn't only do this is your outside or your warranty which in my case I was.

i repair the galaxy phones. its gonna be pricey to replace the whole lcd assembly but much cheaper doing glass and adding the glue to it. you can see my video on it. if you think you can do it, itll cost you around 40-50 in materials.

Hey Everyone
As the Title says. Just Cracked the OP3T Screen. Touch works on all spots, the screen protector that came with it is keeping the shards of glass coming out.
What do you guys suggest I do? Is it a good use of the insurance I bought it with to replace the screen? Seems like its cheap on Ebay. I don't know how hard the glass screen protector would be to replace, but I've taken apart blackberries and my laptop before and replaced parts.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
Why did you even pay for the insurance if you don't want to use it? I'm pretty sure that if you replace the screen yourself, and then try to claim the insurance for something else in the future, they'll just send the phone right back to you when they notice that it's been repaired. I'd go with the insurance.
Go with the insurance. Should be "free", no?
