Conference call management - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know how I can get back this feature? I had it on the note 3 and s5. On the note 4 you can add many people to the conversation but you can't hang up or mute a single person they're all together.

Note 4
Hi there, the conference call management feature is not available in note 4. I was surprised to find out that this feature was in S5 and note 3 but not in note 4. Also there are certain apps not compatible with note 4 as well. I really was stunned that the newer version of Samsung note would be downgrading instead of improving software and added features

App compatibility most likely has to do with the quadHD screen. That should change with time once developers catch up.

BAD ASS NOTE 4

Need Note 4 Update
Yep, that's what I thought too, but I have the Note 4 Edge, and it's not that you don't know how to initiate the Conference Call feature, once the conference call is active, the call management feature doesn't exist. There are simply no tools that come up to manage the call like, swap between calls, or release call 1, you only have the option to end all calls. We need an update bad........

Hey guys not sure if you noticed but it's always there on tmobile, If you turn off volte it'll work but if volte is on, it doesn't! Try it and you'll see

problem solved
Go to settings >call>voice over LTE settings and then choose DO NOT USE VOLTE.
thanks everyone and let me know what you think

I wouldn't call this "problem solved", it's a big compromise between better call quality on all calls or conference management on a few calls. It's 2016 and they haven't fixed this yet. Is there any phone that can do both VoLTE and conference call management at the same time?

Speaker cutting in and out after update

Updated my phone to the latest update. I was looking forward to volte and simultaneous voice and data. Now my external speaker doesn't work right. When I'm on a phone call speakerphone doesn't work and the alarm sound cuts in and out. The odd thing is when I play songs off of Spotify the external speaker is fine. Has anyone else seen this issue since they took the new ota?
I've noticed that when I'm on a voice call the speaker has a lot of static noise when the volume is all the way up. When I turn the volume down or put it on speaker however, it sounds perfectly normal.
Yeah I have that same behavior as well. I still can't get the alarm to have sound. My phone just vibrates. No one else is having sounds issues after the OTA?
I had to turn off HD voice.
My volume is fine, but my volume up button rarely works. I have to go into settings to turn my sound up. Down is fine.
for all of you having issues try doing a FDR.
My alarm works fine but I'm using Zedge for my ring tones and notifications. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. What I little I have had HD voice switched on I get the same static noise in my speaker at full volume, no static with HD voice off. I agree with the_rooter about HD voice.
Posted by the the_rooter in the tread I started.
"to me it feels like advance calling is still in alpha stage. I have it off right now till i see it gets better"
Called Verizon on this issue. They had me turn off advanced calling and wipe the phones cache. I left the phone be for awhile as the sound stops working a few hours after reboot. Got the sound issue again so I rebooted the phone into safe mode. Still ran into the issue after a few hours. Finally I did an FDR and still had the same issue. Verizon is sending a new phone next week. I will keep everyone posted if this was a manufacturer defect.
So voice sounds great over car Bluetooth after update but earpiece on phone sounds like crap. Anyone else have this issue? Does the FDR fix the issue?

Just wondered if you received replacement phone. I just activated advanced calling last night and now my calls have static background noise.
I just went in to settings, turned advanced calling off, tried a call and sound was back to crystal clear. Then i turned advanced calling back on, tried a call and it had static hiss again. Obviously a glitch in the advanced call update.

Glitch in advanced calling, period. I doubt its phone specific.

I worked with Verizon tech support and after 2 hours of trying different things they sent me to a store to get a replacement phone and new sim card. This "UPDATE!" DID NOT FIX the problem of poor sound with Advanced Calling turned on for HD sound. Their explanation was that the update does not load properly and the only way to fix is new phone plus the new sim card, but this did not correct the problem.

I can't understand how a new phone would help anything. What's the difference between that phone and my phone? Is it a different build? Maybe a new SIM card and a full wipe?

This is the first update that was released for advance calling and honestly it's still in the alpha stage. The service is buggy. It's not the phone. Why go talk to verizon when you can go directly to the source. Motorola....they are the ones that know the answer and they would give the same one you get here.

This update wasn't aimed at address poor sound with advanced calling, so no big shock there.
The sound quality can probably be fixed from the network end. You dealt with a tier 1 tech who didn't know anything. These same complaints are made on other VoLTE enabled devices unless using HD calling, which is rather rare.

The tech last night was a tier 2 and has spoken with others with the same problem. The unique issue with turbos is that wr cannot use data while on a call without the advanced calling on, so it is either bad call/data during call or clear call/no data while on a call. The technician i spokebwith today was also a tier 2 and was calling Motorola to inquire as his internal note system (forgot what he called it, those are my words) identifies a number of users with this issue and he had just completed 3 calls prior to my call.

Go look at any Verizon VoLTE device and they all have the same complaint: poor quality unless an HD call.
It is not Turbo specific, no matter how much you want to believe that. I've done the tech support thing; they usually rely on guesswork and scripts unless you get in contact with someone not on the frontline--which you did not.
The turbo is a very popular device with Verizon right now, I am not shocked that others have called about this. What you are seeing is a result of popularity, because other VoLTE devices on Verizon also have this issue, indicating a more likely network issue. Either its a network issue or everyone with a VoLTE phone on Verizon keeps making the same mistake in their firmware. In that HD calling sounds great, I don't think its the devices at all.
Update. Holding my phone in landscape mode and pressing the speaker location with my thumb would cause the speaker to turn on and off. Good to know its the hardware. The new phone has since fixed the issue.

When I was on the phone with Verizon they mention this as a know issue and that it would be fixed with an upcoming update. The advice I got was to just turn off HD Voice and wait for the update.
Support had me clear cache after turning off HD Voice.
I know other phones aside frone the Turbo have the sound problem if they have downloaded Advanced Calling and have HD sound turned on. The additiinal problem for Turbo users is that without the AC turned on we cannot use data while on a call. The technician did not know this to be an issue until i read him the error message that appears when attempting to use data while on the phone with AC off. I leave it off, but frustrating when i need to look up something for someone calling me or when using maps and a call knocks it offline. Oh well, hope for an update sooner rather than later.

[Q] WiFi Calling - missing calls

Howdy,
I am having a puzzling issue:
WiFi calling is on, I can place calls - no problem. Every day I however am missing incoming calls - the call goes directly to voice mail.
Text messages are coming in from the same number a few seconds later telling me that my wife called and the call went to voice mail
Power cycling the phone or making an outgoing call seems to fix the problem.
It seems to me the trigger for it is when I leave my home and come back. The WiFi calling icon comes up - so it looks like it has registered ...
The same SIM in my "old" Note 2 ... I don't have any issues - no missed calls.
Hardware (phone) has been exchanged, numerous calls to t-mobile with the usual factory reset ... reset phone registration etc.
My internet connection is a directed WiFi ( WISP, I am the owner of the network). I usually have around 40/20 MBit - that should do, IMHO. The slowest ping to google I have seen was 40ms - most the time we are less than 10ms
Any hints are highly welcome ( I am ready to return the phone so frustrated I am ... )
Thanks
Oskar
Well what I have seen is if you stay stock you ended good. Rooting and flashing ROM has giving my phones headaches. I think issues are with TMOBILE handling your phone call switch over. Been on phone with them and have been thru 2 phones and 1 on the way. They don't wanna admit they messed up . so it gonna be a wait till update comes out.

It's a shot in the dark but you might want to try a new SIM card. I was also using a SIM from my Note 2 and was having problems. New SIM seemed to fix it for me. I am rooted as well.

I went through 2 phones also and it's not the sim card because I switched it 2-3 times
I get plenty of missed calls from my work, I wake up and see voicemails and there's no notification of a missed call. So basically people are calling me and I don't even know unless they leave a voicemail which people barely do nowadays.
I talked to a rep and told me to turn off volte and it helped SOMETIMES but it still happens to me.

I have had volte off from day 1. This started happening when they enabled the handoff feature from cell tower call to WiFi calling. It sucks. I want it back the old way.

so, in the moment the conclusion seems to be .. it is either on the t-mo network side or the OS.
One more bit: I am using insteon and Mobilinc Pro for light control. That app works perfect on the note 2, on the note 4 button clicks seems not to work - or at least different.
So I wonder whether it might be possible to flash a note 4 rom to a note2 - just for testing purpose

Check your PM.
I'm glad to see this thread and will be following it. I'm on a T-Mobile Note 3 and am seeing the same thing with missed calls and also repeating and delayed texts. Just today I left my Wifi and got an important text message from about 15 hours ago! I also can't download MMS, but am not sure if it is related yet.
well,
updated to Lolipop and several calls to t-mo tech support and trouble tickets:
I still am missing incoming calls.
When I know a call is coming and I toggle WiFi on the phone on and off ... then the call comes thru
Absolutely frustrating

Yep this happens to me constantly. Family says "I've been trying to get a hold of you all day" and I'm just replying well it didn't ring so I dunno. And that's on different ROM's.
this is a much acknowledged issue with the LP update, many threads are filled with complaints of it but it doesn't affect everyone so its hard to say the cause. My phone works fine but others' don't so idk

Play around with the phone I was able to more test call while other call heard me. I would post video but don't need my contacts numbers being out their. I use this for work so I know it is all in. Now if ur running a custom rom ask dev if he removed feature
I am running a normal, unrooted, Galaxy Note 4 straight from T-Mobile. I can place a call, then add another call to make it a conference, I can even add at least 4 calls (I haven't needed to try more than that). I cannot choose to end one of the calls or mute one once the conference call has been started. Is the option hidden somewhere? I have tried clicking just about everything during the call, and have gone through EVERY option in the settings and can't find anything about conference calling. There are a few hits on Google that show the steps for conference calls, and one actually shows pictures of managing one. But it looks just like the S5 management looked like, and I don't have the big button on screen that I used to have to manage the conference calls. Believe me, I'm not a newbie to conference calls. I have done 3-5 per day for the last several YEARS. This is my 4th Galaxy product, and it is the first one I've had issues with.
Maybe reach out to samsung.

Droid Call manager (similar to Droid Turbo)

Do any of the builds of the Nexus 6 have the call manager like in the Droid Turbo with VoLte? I have flashed every build and they all have data and talk at the same time, however the manage call function is not available. Any ideas to port this from turbo to nexus since they share alot in common?
I'm not sure what you mean with the Call manager, is it an app specific to the turbo that you could see in apps?
I know depending on carrier you can enable VoLTE on Verizon and that may enable something within the dialer, which may be what you are asking for/about, however on my own N6 I haven't yet turned on advanced calling ...
Sorry i mean the ability to manage calls. While on a call you can add a call, then do a conf, and click manage calls and drop one vs dropping all calls and having to call back.

Can you explain a little more on how I would do this. I have a Google voice number.
If a friend calls my ROG phone and it goes straight to voicemail, how will my Google voice notify me? I see the option if someone calls my Google voice then it will forward it to my ROG phone but not the other way around.

Thank you for this!!!
The issue is consistent across all our ROG2s with TMobile
We tested the ROG2 as a replacement for our company phones and it was well received by all. However, we also began noticing missed calls with all the phones that were on T-Mobile. Keep in mind that the original one we purchased for testing was the China version (that blocks Google until rooted) and the rest are a mix of the USA version and the international version, so we have all three. Some are rooted, most are stock but they all have this problem. It turns out that, if you change the T-Mobile network to 2G/3G instead of 2G/3G/4G, it rings every time. FYI

My guess is you would have to set up call forwarding with your carrier.
Alternatively: Port your number to google voice and get a new number for your actual phone, then set up the google voice to forward to your new number. This way any missed calls land on google voice and you can still make calls out.
