i've thought about doing it,
but its just so much work to just tether bluetooth internet to it + tether the GPS signal... so its just not really worth dealing with cause the watch battery will be dead in an hour + get extremely hot =P

It would be cool but man the buttons would be almost impossible to hit.

I transferred the ingress.apk to the gear and installed it normally. The only problem I'm having is that to enable GPS is to check mock locations. Anyone know a way around that?

ANY UPDATE ON THIS? I have a Gear S2....the one with wireless charging, I know how to enter recovery mode however cannot get Odin to connect, is there a NetOdin? I'm also open to installing Android Wear, shame I can't really use this other than for fitness and notifications.
thanks

Working reverse tether!

Ok, Ive been looking around these forums for a while and havent come across a working way to tether FROM you pc TO your tablet over wifi. I can do it over usb but the play store doesnt work and the bluetooth option isnt for me. I found a way to actually get wifi to work (at least for me) if thiere is a easier way please let me know
First for me I am using to wifi cards for this however it should work over Ethernet or hell even dial-up.
1.Whatever connection you are using to connect to the web allow it to share the connection.
2.Download this app WiFiHotspot creator or if you trust me here is a link to it http://jumbofiles.com/y0l9dv3pbh5x be aware that unless you go for a advance install it wants to install alot of bloatware, nothing malicious just annoying!!!!
3. Once its installed just run it, it's very self-explanatory.
I've noticed its not very fast but it gets the job done. Also it works for everything Ive tested it with. Play, Youtube, network games.
If its any help Im running Windows 7
Thanx guys
I use connectify it gets the job done very well. I also am running the comp off of wifi and re broadcasting wifi with the same card using it

Looking for some help with the galaxy gear

Hello,
I have been looking around the forums and struggling with the galaxy gear i picked up today.
I have a verizon note 2, that is rooted and using a jellybean ROM. It appears that this ROM does not support NFC, and that looks to be the only way to install gear manager.
I have downloaded numerous 1.5 and 1.2 and 1.4 gear manager APKs from these forums, and have been able to set up gear manager on the phone but it appears to not be working so well. I cannot seem to get any notifications pushed to the gear, and cannot get the weather to show on the gear.
I was going to return the gear and just be done with it, but I am now wondering if anyone has any insight into whether or not I could get a simpler stock based ROM that enables NFC and has no conflict with the gear and my note 2?
I am using the stock messenger app, and no text messages come to the gear
Update
I contacted samsung to ask if there was any way to get the most recent gear manager without NFC and they said there was not. I am wondering if anyone can post a working APK, and if anyone can link me to a verizon note 2 rom that they are using and having no issues with the gear.
The phone calls go through without issue, but no text message or any other notification seems to be pushed through.

Your rom has no NFC ? This is... weird ?
Regardless, why not simply install a stock samsung rom ? You can install the gear manager straight from the samsung apps store and your done ?

I am not sure how to find a stock rom that will work without causing problems. I just assumed the ROM did not support NFC as it was not working, the options are there in my settings.
Does NFC require the stock battery and back cover? I have an extended battery, but was able to find my stock battery without the cover and it would not connect.
I am currently downloading jeallybeans_b22 to flash and see if there are any issues - would you mind linking me to a rom that you think would be issue free?
Thanks for the help

I don't no dude exactly, Varys from phone to phone.. I remember reading in the past some aftermarket battery's prevent NFC from working.. which is more than likely your problem.
Also your not going to receive notifications unless you use a rom based on Samsung, otherwise you will be forced to use third party applications in order to receive notifications.

Ok ill try and find a rom that will work better.
Can you post your gear manager apk?
Im not sure if the original back is required for nfc use but even with the stock battery the cradle did not prompt me anything.
Pretty bummed this isnt working but I do know its my fault for having a rooted note.

What, No its not because of root..
Dont over complicate things, its simply because your using a aftermarket battery.
Also you dont need nfc, you can manually connect the gear via bluetooth via the galaxy gear manager app.... ALTHOUGH I highly highly highly recommend you get a Samsung based rom !
No offence intended although you dont really seem like your very confident with android & know what your talking about, I recommend using a Samsung rom first until you understand how the gear actually works..

No offense taken at all, I have rooted every android device I have had but almost always run intro problems. I would definitely say I am not confident in this whole process. The problem I am facing now is that all of the roms in the verizon section for the note 2 are not really clear on what is close to stock and what is not
While my current rom is touchwiz based I am still trying to find one compatible with the gear.
When I said it was my fault for being rooted I just meant my fault for not understanding how to find a stock rom to revert to.
2 key ingredients to getting gear working are android 4.3 and touchwiz
nfc is only used to make connection easier, you can alwys just select to connect manually. I'm pretty sure nfc antenna is part of battery

Without downloading the gear manager apk from someone who posted it on XDA I could not get the phone to prompt anything and the connection failed.
After downloading the apk for gear manager I was able to get the limited connectivity set up. I am guessing this is because the ROM is not very compatible and I will try to find one that works better.
Thanks for the help guys, sorry for wasting time. I cannot find the OEM battery cover for the phone, just the OEM battery and neither work when trying to bump the cradle to it. What a silly way for samsung to deliver the download... I don't understand why there is no option for a download from them.

No, that is not how it works. You need the gear manager to connect and you just download this from the Samsung store (or I've posted all the apks). Anyway, nfc is just used to automatically pair devices and that is all, nothing else - it's simply less user interaction this way
EDIT: nfc looks to be part of the back cover (http://allaboutsamsung.de/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Note2_wireless_charging_2.jpg)

You can download gear manager directly from the app called "samsung apps", its considered bloat to some developers.. so it may be stripped out of the rom your using.

[Q] Get Gear to access to WLAN?

Hey, is there any way to get the galaxy gear to connect to my WLAN at home?
I am using null rom and tethering to get internet to work on my gear now, but i got this tv controller app that needs to connect to my wlan in order to work. Soooo, is it even possible in any way to get my gear to recognize a wifi other than the one my SGS3 creates? I see so many benefits to this because I want to control everything that's electric at home from my gear.
I have read everywhere and i can't find any solution for this.. The only thing i found was someone with about the same connection problem i think, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537003 . Where fOmey says something about using tasker & autoremote in order to get it to work, can any kind soul help me decipher these hieroglyphics so that I may get an answer?
I'm a noob at this as i got null yesterday.. Really good stuff though!! :good:
Thanks in advance
/P
well the answer in simple terms is to install Tasker on your phone and AutoRemote on your Gear.
so after you read from Tasker dev site on using it properly the long and short is that autoremote can send commands to your phone and then Tasker on phone will execute said command. your Gear has no wifi so this setup pushes command to phone that has wifi and phone sends command via network.
not a complete answer with instructions but with research now you should be able to get it working.
good luck because Tasker can be challenging but also once you understand it also very rewarding
Thank you very much for the answer and for opening my eyes to Tasker! But i'm sorry to say that i'm not really sure how to take it from here.
I have now installed Tasker on the phone and Autoremote on both the phone and the gear and I found that the tasker truly can be rewarding as you say, I have read alot about it and found several things that I can have use of.
But the thing is, will I be able to trick my gear through the phone into thinking it has access to my home network and use the app that way (I can and have installed the app on the gear but it can't find the tv-box as i don't have access to my home network). Or will the gear only be able to command the phones app 'Telia Zappa' to change channel on the tv-box? I don't get where to begin in either way and for me I would love to get access to the network right away instead of making scripts or what to call it for every app that must have access to my home network.
If someone have this figured out or have any ideas especially on how to trick watch to get access to my home network through my phone and bluetooth tethering of course, please help me out. I have so many fun and useful ideas for the watch wich I gladly share with you if I only could get this to work.
Thanks,
/P

I've got some apps on my Gear to connect to my computer, as Spotimote and Unified Remote. But I dont really get how the Gear can connect to my computer when it can't find my tv-box on the local wlan because it says it's connected to 'unkown ssid' in the tv-box's app. When I got the other apps to work I had the ability to manually set the ip adress to connect to, so I did just that and it worked! But I don't have that ability in the app for the tv-box. So how can my gear connect to my computer on the local wlan, but it cant find my tv-box or even the local wlan when I use the other app and both my computer and tv-box is of course on the same network. The app for my tv-box works just fine on the mobile device.
Nothing of above has been done with Tasker, or has it? Can it be that the connection between my phone and Gear through Autoremote provides the gear with the ability to communicate with my computer via phones wifi?
Anyone? It must be any way to trick the Gear into thinking that it have Local network access through phones wifi connection and bluetooth tethering.. If someone knows the answer or got any ideas plase tell me, and if it really is through Tasker and Autoremote please tell me where to begin!
My question remains unanswered, but only for now i hope!

Since I don't have Bluetooth on my computer I assumed that it was wifi/local Wlan, through the phones tethering to Gear. Maybe I'm wrong, but the only other explanation I have would be that the Gear connected through an internet connection to my computer wich i dont see how it would be possible when i only entered an local ip adress.

Offline but connected

Hello,
My smartwatch LG G Watch R is connected throug bluetooth, but 9 out of 10 times teh ok google says its offline, with a slashed cloud.
I have allready factory reset both phone and watch.
Reinstall Google Now
Check settings 100 times
Is my watch broken? Or can this be another problem?
regards,
Frans
I have had this a couple of times. It is the phone not connecting to the internet. I only have had it when on wifi. Switched wifi on phone off and on and that fixed it.
Does it happen on wifi and mobile data?
Hi. Yes it means that it's connected to the phone but the phone is not connected to the Internet.

Have the same problem; it's connected via bluetooth AND voice recognition works perfectly on the phone - any ideas anyone ?
Ash
seems to be when i receive a card, directly after it wont connect
Hi all, I've registered in order to ask exactly the same question.
Every time I use some voice recognition (i.e. give an order, answer to someone...) I got these "offline" errors same as OP.
"Offline" or "Can't reach Google at the moment" even if my phone is 100% with internet conectivity.
Anyone got this fixed? Any troubleshooting around it?
Thanks in advance !
I'd expect it would happen if you have a battery saver like Juice Defender on the phone that turns off data when the screen is off, or only switches it on every 15 mins etc. I'd turn off any battery saving stuff on the phone that could be doing anything like that and see if there's any improvement
At least I, I don't have any kind of battery saving application...
Add me to this list. Total garbage. I've had this watch for a few days and I'm very underwhelmed because of this problem.
I've experienced the same problem. Watch works when wifi is active but goes" offline" when only connected to data. I believe I've come across a solution. It's working for me.
Switch on background data for Google search.(on your phone) That worked for me.
Go to settings, data usage, scroll down to Google search (should be there on the list) and make sure background data isn't restricted.
Hope this helps. Good luck guys/girls.

Nope no joy for me with this...
No ticks in any app on that list..!
These constant disconnects are really getting to me now !
Strangely I'm on a note 3 too, albeit running the leaked lollipop rom, I take it your still on stock KitKat firmware ?
I was going to flash back to 4.4.3 stock to see if it cures it but if you're still on this I won't bother.
---------- Post added at 02:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:35 AM ----------
Looks like a very common problem across all android wear watches.
Even though I have a G Watch R, I've had a nosey around and according to the Moto 360 forums they are having the same issues so I would guess either lollipop on the watch has an issue or the latest android wear app.. rather than the watch itself if the 360 is doing the same.
And I don't think it did this when the Mrs first bought my watch and let me try it out prior to putting it away for xmas.
I had a good few hours playing with it to make sure it was working ok and what I wanted for my xmas present
This was before the updates to the app and watch firmware.
Had it been like it is now I think I would have sent it back...!
Hopefully it will get fixed after the New Year and everyone gets back to their jobs at Google..
Most of the functions still go to the "cloud" to work, so if you have any battery saving "features" enabled that restrict Google Play Service, then you'll likely to run into problems.
I've seen this problem also and it was caused by my flakey wifi connection or trying to make the watch do something while out of signal (like in an elevator). But that not the watch's fault...
You can try downloading the voice recognition offline, that could help, but it still neds internet to work properly. Uninstall all batery saving garbage (I have yet to see a working one) and try again.
Sorry to hear that it didn't work for you. I had that problem on 4.3 and upgraded to 4.4 thinking it would solve the issue. Changing bootloaders, roms, android versions didn't fix it until I reenabled background data.
I was rooted running jedi 4.3 rom when I got my g watch r. Switched to PAC ROM 4.4.4 and the prob was still there. It's all good now though. Good luck and hope you find a fix. I totally understand your frustration.

When BT Connected, Turn on WiFi HotSpot

Hello All,
Looking for a solution to the title. Need to make my phone turn on WiFi HotSpot when it connects to the Bluetooth in my car. I tried this with Tasker and a guide I found online, but it fails and says error executing action: WiFi Tether.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
OP, I've tried to replicate the problem and it seems that the app doesn't have the proper permissions. Although all app permissions are enabled in the app settings, I think it's missing an additional permission. See screenshot below. You might want to contact support for the app to get the issue resolved.
As for a work around, it may be possible to do what you want with NFC stickers.

Yep, same thing I was getting. None of the automation apps for this particular scenario that exist on the Play Store work either. SecureSettings plugin for Tasker also will not enable WiFi Hotspot. Seems to be by design. I'm just going to go the NFC route since there is a particular spot I put my phone in the car every time. Thanks for the reply!

NFC will not turn on WiFi Tether it's an issue with the app not requesting the permission or Something with the Samsung Software. I had an LG G6 and it was working fine. The way I resolved my issue I use autoinput. Now it's working fine. see the attached:

I did it backward this time. I created the task first and then I create the profile. I use the state connect to BT to trigger the profile. Also it's very important that you enable smart lock, so your car BT can disable the lock screen and autoinput can do the job. You would need to buy the full version of autoinput since the lite version won't work.
