I've got some small issues with the messages for the phone.
I noticed that frequently, I have been receiving sms that have a time stamp of 1-3 hours later than i actually received it.
for example, it's 1am now and I can receive sms that was apparently sent at 2 or 3am same day.
Another thing is, although most sms displays the correct time for that day. How do i show the exact time for older sms ? sometimes i need to check when exactly I receive the sms from senders.
thanks.

HELLO. PLease note that if you searched you would have found these answers. Try search for SMS Time Stamp Incorrect.
My threaded sms displays the correct time. However, I cannot see the time for older sms within the same thread from the previous days. Anyone?

I don't recall anyone finding a way to fix this.
There are times when I will be in an area with no service at all for hours and when I come back in to a service area, it takes hours for all of my missed text messages to come in. Is there any way to force the phone to check for texts? Maybe a way to refresh something? Thanks.

I have been using Message + with my new droid turbo 2 and have liked it. Yesterday, I turned my Wifi off. Today, I was texting a couple of contacts. I delete my texts because my young daughter has a habit of reading them when I am not looking.
Anyway, I deleted all of today's text messages earlier. Just now, I noticed wifi was off so I turned it back on. As soon as the connection was made, my phone beeped repeatedly as if I were receiving 15 texts in a row. I looked in the message + and EVERY text I had made with the wifi turned off reappeared.
I couldn't help imagining those texts messages going to any number of places.
I have only had the phone a month and it has been perfect.
Does anyone know why this happened?
Why the wifi - text message connection at all?
Can I prevent this from happening?
Verizon has a thing where your phone can receive texts via wifi if there is no cell connection. There is also a feature for tablets to receive every text sent to your phone. It might have something to do with one of those features gone wrong.

You may have better luck posting in the Turbo 2 forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo-2
I have an XT1095 Rooted on stock 6.0 and the stock text messaging app has the annoying habit of not playing a notification sound, or vibrating, if the messaging app is open. This means that if I'm typing in landscape mode I have no idea if the person I'm sending a text to sends another message to me because I can't see or hear it. Their new message could possibly negate whatever it is that I'm typing so I waste time typing out a message that I end up erasing and starting over. This happens frequently. Even more annoying is when I finish sending a text message and set the phone down without locking it and without closing the text app. Since the back of the phone is curved it usually rocks to the side slightly as I set it down which puts it into landscape mode with the keyboard showing, totally covering the screen, and then I have no clue if/when I receive a new message during the time that the phone is waiting to timeout. I've waited an hour for a reply to a message that had already come during the 30 second timeout period and I had no clue it was there.
I've searched everywhere for how to turn on text notifications even when the app is open but I can't find anything. There's another thread on here where the person has a problem where they don't get text notifications when they're on a phone call. I have that same problem but it doesn't bother me that much. That's the closest thing I could find here. On some other site someone had the same problem with Lollipop on a Samsung, but the reply was that it was Samsung's tweak and there was nothing they could do about it. Am I also stuck with it since there don't seem to be any settings for it? Or am I having a moron moment?
Hi all,
my 4X, Miui 9.5.4.0 ROM, will not receive text messages most of the time. I can send texts OK but for the most part I cannot receive a text. I say for the most part because every now and then one seems to sneak through for some reason.
The only messaging app installed is the stock MIUI one that came with the phone. I did try a couple of other messaging apps with the same result. They have since been removed.
Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.
TIA
Greg

I can't imagine it's something wrong with MIUI? it never actually happened to me, I'd contact your carrier first, perhaps they have blocked numbers from texting you
I recommend also checking in Settings; System apps > Call settings > Blocklist to see if the phone has blocked incoming test messages from any numbers

I've just placed the SIM into another phone and it works fine, so it's not the carrier. Checked blocklist and nothing there, plus I can miss and intermittently get texts from the same person.
It's got to be a MIUI thing!

Do you notice that you lose signal a lot? It could be a faulty antenna band too, it can be replaced under warranty

No I have a strong signal, so I do not think it's that.
Just did a test:
1. Rebooted phone
2. As soon as the lockscreen appears I sent a text from my wife phone.
3. It is received.
4. Wait one minute and send another 3 texts from my wifes phone.
5. None received.
6. Reboot phone.
7. The 3 missed texts arrive as soon as the phone reboots.
8. Wait one minute and send another 3 texts from wife's phone.
9. None received.
10. Reboot phone
11. 3 missed texts arrive as soon as the phone reboots.
It has to be MIUI.

That sounds annoying... If you can, go to developer options, and enable "Show all ANR" and use the phone (especially SMS) for a while to see if the culprit is a system process failing to stay alive, and try to clear all data for that process
You should be able to find the process by going to "Installed apps" and enabling "Show system apps"
Researching more on the problem has no real conclusion at all.. Some people solved the problem by just doing a factory reset, some more gets it fixed after calling their carrier, another gets it fixed (temporarily) by just turning airplane mode on and off

I have found the problem. "Turn on MIUI optimization" in Developer Options was turned OFF. Turning it ON fixed the receiving of texts. Tried several times turning it OFF and then ON and texts stopped everytime it was OFF. Don't know what this setting does but it needs to be ON to receive texts.

That's weird! I have it off all the time, what it does is
1. Closes apps in memory prematurely, this can be bad or good, unused ram is wasted ram anyway
2. Monitor background services and disabled part of it when you're not actually using it, this killed notifications for certain apps for me, at least back in MIUI 8
There's more, but it's really trivial like UI changes it does, happy it's solved though
