Yes. Flash a custom kernel such as philz and you are ready to go. You get root and cwm recovery. Find it in the development section

Hi,
u have to update to 4.2.2 stock firmware before flashing 4.2.2 rom! You can do this by flashing 4.2 Stock Firmware to your device using flash tool. You can find stock firmware here at xda.

Not a chance, wouldn't boot. You need to update to 4.2.2 firmware first.

Is 100% not possible. Both are different version. Merely jump from 4.1 to 4.2 without system apps, related files of 4.2 will get you nowhere. Make sure full wipe before flashing downloaded 4.2 stock rom. Good luck and cheers

Yes you can with a unlocked bootloader, flash a 4.2.2 kernel (dooms) and then flash custom 4.2.2 rom with full wipe this will give you your system files needed and kernel will recognise it and then boot

Where did the OP even mention custom roms? His post says he is on 253 and wants to be on 423.
It's entirely possible to directly update from 253 stock to 423 stock. One of the simplest ways is to use flashtool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240614
Just grab a 423 ftf from the general section and follow the instructions in the thread.

If you do indeed just want to update to stock 423, then follow the tutorial I linked you to. Look in the general section for a 423 ftf.
If you're actually talking about a custom rom, then still follow the tutorial, then follow the instructions in the thread for the custom rom you're using.

Then what the other people in the thread said does apply. You should be clearer with what you're asking in future.
Just follow the instructions in the thread I linked to update to 4.2.2, then follow the installation process in the rom thread.

As the topic clearly states the question..
Is it any EASY way to deodex stock .67 firmware for Xperia Z? I am currently pretty tired of getting infinite bootloops after trying out a lot of deodex-suitable methods that's here and there all over the internet and everything just ends up in chaos..
Some proper how-to guides that someone wants to share?

But one question.. Can I apply the linked .67 deodex ZIP to an stock ROM that's flashed as an FTF thru Flashtool? Or is this deodex zip just for the firmware that [NUT] is providing?
