I could be wrong, but for the 2013 Moto X , Motorola gave one free screen replacement. I would think that they would do the same for the 2014... id contact MOTO and see what they say

I think if the don't replace it for free it is only $120 or so for them to replace it.

Broke mine and the total came up to about $135, replacement screens from reputable vendors are over $200. Normally I do it myself but I damaged the frame also so getting a refurb was a no brainer. I get all my parts from etradesupply dot com.

Screen replacements are not free and at best are $250 through Moto. There are some disqualifying factors why I can't/don't want to use Moto. I have searched high and low and cannot find anyone selling a new screen. Found a good teardown vid so if I had the screen it doesn't look super difficult to pull off.

Could you provide a link? I have been looking for a good teardown video. I've already seen this one which is OK. I was kind of hoping for a better one.

That was the same one I watched. I found it useful, but not really willing to do this ATM.

In the website says that the screen is only for XT1096, I dont know why? anyone knows? Will it work with a XT1097?

[Q] Droid 3 with White Screen and lines?

Just looking to buy this phone off of eBay, and I found a listing, but the individual mentions that the phone has "a white screen with lines that displays, and nothing else" after powering on.
Any one know if this could be a possible fix, or if it means that I should avoid it and tell the guy he should try getting a replacement phone?
Also, I've already messaged him about if he's attempted rooting it (not sure if that's possible yet) or done any modification to it.
Thanks in advance for any assistance with this!
Had to edit the topic title, I don't think it actually offered any insight as to what's going on previously.
Sounds like some kind of hardware fault and i'd say the guy is only selling it on ebay for parts.

Alright, thanks!
If it isn't stolen why not just take it and get verizon to replace?

I'd have to mail it to them - and wouldn't it be odd that they're getting a repair request from Canada?

Need help with moto X screen issue

Greetings form Greece,
Need your help
After several weeks of waiting my moto X came today form US. Was so happy to have such a unique custom device!!
Once i got it from my US based friend I entred my local carrier shop to get a nano-sim, opened the box and inserted the sim to get moto X woriking.
Seconds after I left the shop the phone accidentaly fell to the pavement. I saw two small dents in the side corners and got really sad I did this to my new device.
However soon i realized that the problem was much bigger. My screen went totaly black!
There is no sign of damage or anything, just a small dent in the plastic bezel.
I am sure the phone is working, I hear sounds of booting and shutting down and I feel vibrations from the the digitizer touch.
The screen shows only some green pixels on the botom right corner.
I am really sad
Do i need a new screen or it is smth with a cable connection?
Is it reasonable for the device to be ruined form a 2 feet drop?
I am will not find any spare parts in Greece/Europe. Shall I send to my local Motorola service repair to check?
Any other memeber with similar issues.?
Please help!
go to motorola tech service, is the only solution, you need a new screen, or a new phone
Well, I feel bad for you, but you need to change either the screen or the entire phone.

I dropped my moto twice and screen is fine
I went today to the Greek local moto repair center,
First time they saw such device, they thought it is moto G.
Awaiting a call if it is a full LCD or a cable maybe. they have no idea if Motorola will provide parts.
If it is a full LCD, how easy is for me to find the part?
I have seen some lcd parts quoting around $250, (nearly the price of the device).
It is a lovely phone, in case i don't find a solution in my country shalll i try to send it to US for repair?
is anybody willing to order and send me overseas a new?
local moto cannot do anything due to lack of spare parts.
any ideas where to get an or original screen?

Broken Moto X. What to do with it?

My girlfriends moto X its kaputz. The LCD and glass are total. She's got a replacement for it already but I'm curious what to do with the broken phone?
The device was still working because she would receive calls and her alarm would ring so theres chat.

Doesn't Moto fix/replace those for free? I imagine they want the old version back to fix and then sell later as refurbs.
Do they? I haven't heard of this.

When my wife's Moto X screen and digitizer broke, they sent a new one and requested the old one back within 10 days (I think) before they would charge for the new one.

Yeah. They emailed her a return label to mail it back. She can't remember if it was in the email or in the chat where they told her she needed to send it back. You may want to contact them to check, just in case. Was it a Moto Maker device?
No. It was a run of the mill White Moto X from Sprint.
If it was from Sprint, it may be a different story. If you got the new one from them, you are probably fine.
It amazes me that people can find this forum but can't seem to figure out how to find info within the site.

I think moto give just one time replacement opportunity..

My understanding is that the device would have to be purchased from them and in US only.

I am! i just found out you can do that!
They give you two options and i chose the latter...
which is, I pay 175 Plus a 500 dollar security hold,
they send me a new phone, i then send mine to them,
they assess the damage, then take the 500 dollar
hold off my account.
so for 175 i get a new phone.
Best Deal Ever compared to 275 to have someone just
replace the screen.
Thanks though guys/girls!

Anybody think this prototype edition screen will work?

So I have had a Nexus 6 with a broken LCD sitting in a drawer for a while because screen prices (in addition to Motorola repair options) are much more than I would like, in addition to the phone running a custom ROM with an unlocked bootloader. So today I decided to look on ebay and screen prices are still pretty high, except this one.

Looks like this guy got his hands on one of those prototype LCD assemblies. I'm not sure who would part out and sell one of these but, here it is. I was wondering if this was worth a try or if I should just leave it dead in my drawer. The dude doesn't seem to know what he is selling but, mentions the ribbon cable is a bit short. If anyone can guide me on this, I would appreciate it.
EDIT: Meant to say Prototype rather than Developer, my apologies. If a mod wants to come through and fix the title, that would be great.
Thanks, TriguyRN

Assuming you can do the repair yourself, I would just shell out the extra bit of cash to get a legit LCD. But, if you want to take the risk to save a buck, nothing is holding you back. It did say something about flex cables being different, in which case you would have a bit of trouble. Cheers!
