[Q] Not getting gmail notifications - solved

I'm running stock ATT note 3 with latest gmail app.
I have set gmail to sync and turn on notifications for all labels. But I'm still not getting notification when emails arrive.
Anyone else having the same issue?
Thanks
Update
===================
Ok it actually has been working. I was testing by sending myself an email. That doesn't work very well unless I do it from another computer or phone. Cuz the sync happens so fast that the email arrives while I still have the gmail app open.

You mean in the notification center or on the app itself? Also do you have sync checked on the quick toggle settings? If you mean the app itself, then that's not happening, you'll need another launcher like Nova or Apex (I'm assuming this isn't what your talking about though).

OP said there are no notifications when emails arrive. If sync weren't enabled, the emails wouldn't even arrive, would they?

Not me. I get proper status-icon, LED, and sound notifications for new emails via gmail.
In addition to the notification settings in gmail itself, have you checked the phone's LED and Blocking Mode settings?

Yes smart *** they would arrive when he opens the app. You would be amazed how many times is something simple like that.

make sure the setting of gmail in the app is correct. especially "Notify for every message" is on. the option is in gmail setting -> "your gmail account" -> inbox sound & vibrate

Galaxy Note 5- Default Notification Sounds For SMS Messages

Problem with notifications
So I just got my note 5 the other day. Naturally I have changed ring tones and spent some time personalizing my phone. The problem I'm having is with the setting for the messages notification. For some reason when I get texts the notification I hear is what is set for the "default" notification tone even though I have something else specified under the messages notification tone. I don't know how to fix this and would really really love some advice. Thanks in advance!!
Anyone have any advice on this? I would really like to fix it? Should I just take it in to Verizon store or is there something I'm just oblivious to?
Go in and open your individual message threads and click on the 3 dots in the top right hand corner opposite your contacts name.....and click on "customize" and then change your alerts from default to whatever tone you want.
That doesn't work. I did get it fixed though. Was a conflicting app causing the problem

How did you fix it? What app? Mine is doing this and it's driving me nuts!! Thank you
Yes, which app? My wife is complaining as well. I'd love to check this off the list of things she has to complain about...

Update:
I fixed this problem by changing her default message app from Message+ (Verizon's bloat app) to Messages (Samsungs stock app) and the individual message tones began to work. Hope this fixes it for you!!
Default notification
Had samwith problem I just put the default notification on silent had no problems since every thing works great

Gmail label notification sound not changeable on Oreo?

My phone upgraded to Oreo just yesterday. One issue that I've noticed, that I also had when I briefly tested the beta, is that I no longer seem to be able to find setting to change the sound of specific labels on Gmail.
Previously on nougat I had this set up so, that only messages under primary will cause sound, others show notification without sound (social, promotions, updates, forums). Has this option been completely removed in Oreo, or just moved elsewhere? Can't find such setting anywhere in Gmail or notification settings now.

Thanks, although I'm either being really stupid, or that's not just the option I'm looking for. I've tried going through that, but there simply is no option to change the label notifications like it was possible on Nougat. I can't select what labels to notify for, but no option to select notification without sound.
Is there something really obvious that I'm missing?
Notifications for Specific Gmail Labels Gone?
I set up filters to sort IMPORTANT emails into specific labels. I relied on that feature heavily to know when an important email came in that I needed to look at. Now it is all or nothing and I'm interrupted constantly by having to look at my phone for every single email. My time is important and I don't want to be interrupted from a client meeting for a stupid coupon or newsletter. But DO NEED TO KNOW when I get something from my BOSS. I am seriously upset. Is this a GOOGLE update, or a SAMSUNG/Android issue? it seamed to start yesterday or the day before right after my upgrade to the new Android Oreo
Really miss the option that I have used for years.
Special label sounds for:
-Important clients.
-My webcam mailing me, etc etc
So, while driving I hear who sends me the mail so I can decide to park the car...
Any workaround?

Nope you are not stupid but a real Gmail user.
Not many people went this deep in Gmail.
First make filter into lable etc etc
It is a real loss. And I see no other options like a different mail client .

Messages Notification and Default Notification

Is there a way to have a different Messages notification tone than the default notification tone?
Many thanks!
Same question! I can't even change sound notifications from gmail and google allo?
Same for Twitter lol
Having the same .. would like to have different sound notifications in gmail and messages. I seem to be able to do it in WhatsApp, but everywhere else it use system default sound
It is extremely extremely annoying. To solve this, I am using Textra instead of stock messages. You might like it and it has , of course, the option of changing the sound. I wouldnt even consider that a 2018 flagship doesnt have that option...

You can change the notification sounds in Gmail. I have three email accounts setup in the Gmail app.
Goto:-
- Gmail settings
- General settings
- Manage notifications
- Click the text area that says 'Normal: Allow these notifications to make sounds' (not the button)
- Sound
Thanks, havent found that before

Calendar notifications that persist until dismissed

I just can't seem to find a setting or app to have calendar notifications for events that don't disappear after a period of time. I have tried the default huawei calendar, Google calendar and any.do but none of them fulfill the above condition. I need the notification to persist in the status bar until I dismiss it personally.
Did you find a solution or workaround for this? I have this exact same problem!
Anybody?
Try Business Calendar
That's why I use the reminder instead.. the reminder seems to stay until I swipe it away.
I also have the Google Calendar widget on my front screen so I don't miss anything.

Thanks for the reply - what do you mean by 'reminder' please?

Ak I see you mean Google reminders. This is an improvement still not very flexible. All reminders clump together and I can't seem to discard them one by one. Plus if you go into view them they automatically discard themselves.
I still dont understand why Huawei messed around with the original calendar so much - the stock android version is pretty much perfect
For some reason Huawei's calendar took out reminders so I have it inactive and have Google's calendar running instead.
