Good evening.
I have problems with setting Hangouts .
If I can well send mms with sms / mms app provided basic and another application is called Contact, no way to get there with Hangouts !
I am with Free French operator and I made sure to have the APN well set . But if it works with any sms tool, I do not see why it would not work with Hangouts .
Strange as it may seem, if I try to change the APN info from hangouts , they disappear !! Then I have to restore the default settings ( always from hangouts ) and have therefore erroneous information that does not allow me to send mms .
Do you have the same situation ?
I obviously tried reinstalling but it was unsuccessful ...

Hello , I heaving problems with automatic sms forwarding from my TAB , I tried many apps that can do that but I don't understand why they don't working on TAB ?
I receive sms on my second phone,Galaxy S, and with sms forwarder I'm regularly receiving sms on my TAB , but when I want to use same apps in opposite direction that doesn't work
Those anyone heaving similar problems ? I tried 5-6 apps on the market, on Galaxy S they all working fine but on Tab none of these apps not working.. I tried two-three different ROMS, also STOCK
Any help? Thank you all for your time!
Sorry, the problem is with GO sms application, with default sms app everything working fine
@Emrax - You're correct, Go SMS does not coexist nicely with other apps that also need to see incoming SMS'. I assume you have Go SMS installed on your Tab.
The one exception - our app PhoneLeash that does SMS forwarding (with capability to reply) and many others (locate phone, missed calls). More details here and at www.gearandroid.com
I have a branded and rooted Nexus 6. Everything is working fine. I'm using the default Nxtgenphone APN. No problem with SMS messaging or group messaging as MMS.
I'm trying to send and receive picture MMS. Using the Messenger app, I get a cannot send message; tap to retry. Switching to Hangouts gets me a MMS message cannot be stored.
Anyone have this problem and can offer a solution?
For now. I'll say this problem has gone away. I rebooted and all is well.
MMS not working properly
Had the same problem when i try to send a picture message on my n6 i could receive but cant send them on the android app i installed textra and i could send mms again thats weird
Swap your Sim card , had the same issue on T-Mobile.
I had issues with mms on Straight Talk with AT&T sim. I disabled stock messenger and I installed the CM12 stock messenger which looks practically the same and now mms works with no issues. Here is the link for the direct download. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2PiSOTXR691dUpwdjBUcnkxSms/edit
Ok I had this before on my nexus but cannot remember how I fixed it.
I get an sms and it shows in notification but when I open the sms there are no text in the message. It just disappears.
And it happens in Hangout and Messenger.
What's the main sms process ? Want to see if I force stop and clear data if it will fix the problem
Thanks Rudolph
Does anybody know why this happens? I have the same issue but am not sure how to fix it.
Would really appreciate the help
Same issue here. Nexus 6 on Android N.
I have Hangouts as the default messaging app.
When I receive a text message, a heads up notification pops up but when I open hangouts the message is gone.
I also tried to switch to the Google Messenger app. In this case I can receive texts but I cannot send them...
Textra seems to work fine but it's not my cup of tea...
Anyone knows how to fix this, please?
Now it's getting even weirder.
It looks like whatever SMS I delete in Hangouts or Messenger gets restored after I close and reopen the app...
It looks like that whatever I do in Messenger or Hangouts goes nowhere and does nothing.

This is why it is an alpha build and not really meant for day to day use.
Same issue here.
I searched old threads, and found there is a solution, just reboot to safety mode, and send a sms to yourself. Then reboot to normal...
However, it doesn't work for me.
I have just found what may have caused the issue (at least in my case) and it was entirely my fault.
I basically dirty flashed the N alpha on top of my previous 6.0.1 installation where I had made quite a few changes, instead of doing a clean installation.
That plus the fact that some SMS/MMS things have now changed in M (for example the telephony databases are no more stored in /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony but are now under /data/user_de/0/com.android.providers.telephony ) may have messed up my system.
I've now done a clean installation and all seems to be fine with SMS in Hangouts for the time being.
Other small annoyances (mainly related to the cellular data connection) also seem to be gone now.
The SMS issue reappeared after some time (i.e. Incoming text messages are shown in notifications but they are not saved in Hangouts or Messenger).
After having done all sort of different tests, it looks like the issue may be related to a language setting.
The Android N alpha allows you to set two languages under Settings > Language & input > Language.
- With just one language enabled, all is fine.
- With 2 languages enabled, Hangouts and Messenger seem to work ok for some time, then the disappearing-SMS bug comes back. The only workaround I could find is to disable the second system language and reboot the phone.
Since a system software update that occurred in early May, I cannot send MMS messages from any texting app EXCEPT the built in Samsung Messages app. I was using the Google Messages app but have been forced to switch to the Samsung one. Also tested with Textra and it doesn't work either. Tried all the standard troubleshooting: reboot, reset network settings, double checked APN settings) but no success. I CAN send SMS messages from any texting app. Just not MMS
That would indicate there is an issue with Google Messages then. The data settings for sending MMS but be correct as the Samsung app works and they share the mobile settings.
You could try uninstalling and reinstalling the Google messages app to reset it and make sure the RCS rich chat feature is then turned off.

As I mentioned, I this issue affects the Textra messaging app as well, and I would expect it to affect any other texting app besides Samsung Messages. I have of course tried uninstalling and reinstalling Google Messages but the issue persists.
my suggest, send your log file to samsung with repeating the issue (sending MMS) before, maybe send it via email to them.
