I just noticed that I can't seem to add add lockscreen widgets to my Moto X. On the lockscreen I have the camera if I swipe to the right but nothing happens if I try swiping to the left. On my Galaxy Nexus I get the plus icon that lets me add widgets.I don't have any security right now either, just swipe to unlock. Are lockscreen widgets supposed to work on the Moto X?
Never mind, got it working again. Activating the google apps device policy app with my university seems to have disabled them. When I tried to add my Moto X to my google device manger, it made me activate that. Oddly, after deactivating the device policy app, the Moto X still appears in my devices and I can use the find my phone feature.
Hello everybody,
I am using Android Oreo beta in my Nokia 8 and One thing i have seen is the inability to place icon for apps in home screen.
Normally this is present in either play store settings or launcher settings (long press home screen > settings > Add icon to home screen)
After the oreo beta update , it is missing ! Is anyone facing the same issue ?
Already mentioned quite a while ago, this is a bug. Nokia did not include this button in the Homescreen Setting.
Google moved this setting there with Oreo.
So today, after loading an app, my Nokia 8 decided to reboot itself. After rebooting, a few things ceased to function.
The Home button no longer worked. The recent apps button stopped working, I can pull down the notification bar however, the settings button and extending the notification bar to show notifications no longer functioned.
On top of this, Google Play stopped functioning with regards to installing software and you will notice that you cannot access the developer options anymore (as well as all your personal settings being reset!)
Was at a complete loss at what to do... I managed to install the Nova Launcher from an apk file from there accessed the short cuts to the Setting Wizard and re-ran it.
You can re-run the setting with the same email address and as soon as it's finished, everything should be working back to normal. You may need to reset a few preferences (such as keyboards etc / glance screen etc) but at least all the buttons work again.
Step instructions:
- Download Nova Launcher. If you cannot from the google play store, search for it on Chrome and download an apk version
- Install it (you may get a pop up advising you need to let apps installed from chrome, go to settings and allow it)
- Once installed, click on Open. This should launch the Nova Launcher
- Long press anywhere on the screen
- Choose Widgets.
- Look for the Activities widget and hold and place it anywhere on the screen.
- Scroll down to Setup Wizard. There's two, one that's "Setup Wizard" and the other "SetupWizard" without a space. Choose the first. There should be an option under it called ".SetupWizardUpgradeActivity". It might be slightly different for you pending the version OS you have but that's what came up for me.
- Select that to create the widget shortcut then click to open.
- This will bring you to the setup wizard and then just click Next all the way through (turn off any preferences you may have in the past)
And voila. Back to normal afterwards!
Note: You don't need to use Nova Launcher as your default launcher. You can even uninstall it if you want.
Works!
Thank you, this totally worked!
I think Skype crashing and crashing the phone caused this for me. It's getting an uninstall as a special thank you.
Cheers,
Peter
Please help! I don't see any option for setup wizard!
Hello everyone! With the latest Android 9 update (PPWS29.69-26-4) I noticed two things. 1) The home screen takes a long time to load, as well as widgets that do not show up, for example the Moto clock, Google Calendar Widget that stays white for a while without showing the calendar. 2) After updating (I bought my cellphone on Feb. 10th) I did a factory reset. After the hard reset the At a Glance appeared on my home screen..how is that possible that it was not there right after the update and now it's there on the home screen? Thank you to everyone!
What is "at a glance"?

A Google widget:
Got a Oppo Reno 5g and it just updated to C54 with May 2012 security update.
I have swipe up gestures enabled as it gives more screen area.
Problem with new update is when I swipe up bottom of screen to "go back" it also opens up Google assistant, turning off google assistant itself then swiping up, makes it annoyingly open up "your google assistant is ready to help you get things done. TURN ON"
Anyone got any suggestions apart from dont use swipe gestures.
Thanks
Ok panic over....
After loads of searches sorted it.
For anyone else got Google assistant keep popping up, settings~default apps~digital assistant app~ choose none.
Thanks
And then they say chinese phones are full of bloatware....
