I picked up the N4 from T-mobile last Saturday and they gave me a temporary number because we were having trouble getting the account number from my last carrier. When we got it the the number was ported. Calls and texts work fine, sometimes group chats acts up a little. But the problem is, in settings>about phone>status my number shows up as the temporary one and not my current, old, ported number. It is annoying because on some apps use that temp number, group chat acts weird with it and doesn't show my actual number, plus I want to root and I don't any possible mishaps. Does anyone know how to change this or update it? I asked this question on another thread but it was from 2010 and no one has replied.
Mine is the same, T-Mobile tech support says it sometimes happens when you switch Sims, but hasn't affected me any. Calls, texts and data all fine. Made 36 hours of calls since I got it, and my kiddo and I text every day.
Thank you for the quick reply.

Have you rooted? I'm pretty cautious about rooting right now because the last time I did was about 2 years ago on the GS3. Being that we all spent so much money on the N4 I don't want anything to brick it. The only reason I have not rooted yet is because of this. Thank you
Rooted no issues.

Okay cool, did you root with that cf auto root thing? I'm still a bit paranoid haha.
Dont be paranoid, just root that bad boy and yes if it puts you at ease i rooted my N4 first day upon release with that cf auto root thing lol
Switch that Sim on another phone see if it switches there.Might need to reset phone

Lol thank you sir, I'm more than likely going to root it tonight or tomorrow. I should be able to just go ahead and root fine, that little update I had right after booting up for the first time shouldn't affect either right? I'm guessing no since everyone must have had that update haha.

I don't have another phone to stick it in but I did do a factory reset which didn't work. I'll probably just go ahead and root.

I'm not sure what the problem could be.
When I first wipe the phone everything is fine but as soon as I put a ROM on there I lose the ability to receive phone calls. Every call goes straight to voicemail. At first I thought it was an app causing the problem (YouMail, Timeriffic...). I uninstalled those but still no calls. I did a wipe, phone rings. Put a ROM (no apps yet), straight to voicemail. Right now I'm using Damage 1.5 but that doesn't make a difference because it happens with Fresh & Darch too.
Is there a common setting somewhere that changes and could be interrupting my ability to get calls?
edit.....
Now that I think about it, this all started yesterday when I changed that CDMA auto thing. But that setting doesn't keep after restarts right? And wiping the phone should have cleared that anyway right?

That was the first thing I did
I've nandroided (is that a word?) all the way back to January. That's all I've done since this started yesterday. Wipe... New image. Wipe... old backup. Wipe, older backup.
I'm about to smash this thing lol

Gee thanks! lol
After living like this for 2 days I'm thinking it's not so bad. I changed my voicemail message to say I'm having a problem, send me a text and I'll call them back. I dont have angry ex's calling, no kids needing money, no mother complaining. They text me! And if I want to listen to it I'll call them back. It's kinda quiet. I think I like it
I'll put it back to stock and take it to Sprint tomorrow. Let them deal with it.
I have been having issues with my Hero lately, and going through the Tech Support/Store/Retention phone transfers has made me pretty pissed off. (I was hung up on by 2 supervisors, and I was not even talking to him angrily) I hope that one of you guys who I helped out at one point or another with anything could help me out with my phone issues and figure out where to go from here with my phone/account.
If you are a rep/tech from Sprint, I would really appreciate a reply or pm. Thanks in advance guys
Dan

Yeah the hanging up thing was weird, I was talking and then all of a sudden I hear a click and the dial tone after that. I called from my corded home phone to make sure I didn't lose signal.

I don't know when you worked for Sprint but we have a "release" button to drop calls. If we hit it, we get pulled up on a report and the call is listened to see why the release button was hit I WORK for sprint

I'd be afraid to buy your phone if you've got such problems that you're willing to dump it because of them.

Hey, I've got problems if any Sprint Techie would please listen to me!!! I've asked for help from a couple of developers and all I get is ignored and told, "Sorry dude."
Two weeks ago, I themed using MM instead of the usual signed zips. Since then, my phone completely freezes/black screen every single time I get an incoming call, requiring me to pull the battery and hard reboot. No buttons work/black frozen screen until I fully reboot. Everything else works perfectly except for incoming calls. I can't have this!
I pulled a logcat (found nothing), RUU'd, re-rooted, reflashed the ROM (Flipz 2.1d), wiped the SD, etc. Still happens and am now so ticked I'm about to auction this POS and get me the EVO too! I took it to a Corporate Sprint Store 25 miles away and after I had to show the morons where the 'on' button was on the Hero (yeah, seriously, I did), they told me I'd be without a phone til after 7/5 while they work on it, because of the holiday (I can't, I use my phone for work!!!).
All I themed was a revised rosie killing off the top-bar clock & battery signal meter, and another hiding the text under homepage apps.
WTH??? Could someone please, please help?

I don't think theming with metamorph could potentially harm your phone in a way that an RUU couldn't correct. Have you used an overclocked kernel or done anything that could potentially break your phone's hardware? If it happens when you receive an incoming call, I'd tend to think there's something going on with the cellular radio. Do you have any issues with data connection or receiving SMS? Any other issues at all?
Nope, absolutely no other issues at all. Data, SMS, all fine.

Does it happen EVERY time you get a call or with less frequency? Are you using a non-standard PRL? I suppose there could be 100000 different things making your phone do that, but I just don't see MM doing it.
Then again I've been wrong before.
No, when I have it plugged in on USB or straight charger, I'll occassionally get the incoming call. Not always, but occassionally. Once today it rang through, then I got 8 lock ups, all on incoming.
But when the phone is off the charger, I won't get the call at all. It completely locks & goes black even before I know there's an incoming call. I only find out when I check the phone or hear the BT shut off in my ear. Then I'm forced to pull the charge & reboot, only finding out 5-10 min later that I missed a call and have a VM message.
I had to call it myself to find out that it's locking down on all incoming calls, because at first I just thought it was doing random lock ups. But, no, it's only on incoming calls.
I've had some weirdness with incoming calls recently, but that's due to forcing my clock speeds way low when the screen is off with overclock widget.
If you successfully RUU your phone and you still can't receive calls, my money is that it's busted.
Anyone else have any ideas?
Ok well I had a post before that I was having problems texting after update and root. well we thought it was the phone so verizon sent me a new one. I can receive perfectly fine but I cant send even on the new phone. I got the phone yesterday afternoon got it all set up on gingerbread rooted it then flashed with gingervolt v 1.2. Everything was working great last night then first thing this am bam no texting again. I got the v7 tot file and re flashed and it seems to be working again. For how long who knows but I am hoping someone may have a little info. Verizon has a ticket on it but something tells me it wont go anywhere.

Are you using any 3rd party programs for texting or just stock?
I've had this problem before but only with a single person, my uncle, who uses AT&T (Only person with AT&T I text. AT&T has horrible service in my area so almost no one has them here) To make it so he'd receive my texts, I would have to completely delete my text thread and send a new message. He's the only person I've had problems with and deleting the thread fixes it every time.
Perhaps Re-flashing is working because in the process it is deleting your thread? Hope this helps!
I wish it were that simple when it goes it goes and i cant text anyone
So I am guessing no one has this issue with rooting or gingervolt? I am just curious because I love the speed and stability of gingervolt but I have been afraid that its somehow the cause. Now using the tot file v7 restores it to stock right so if it were a problem with the root or gv 1.2 this would get rid of it because its 100% stock right?

Your previous post (For other users)
I've been lurking the gingerbread mod forums a lot and this is the first I've heard of this specific problem. Though that doesn't mean someone else isn't having the same problem.
You only get stuck when going into Gingervolt, but V7 seems to work for you? Have you tried staying in V7 w/o gingervolt for a few days just to see if the problem comes back or not?
Been on just straight v7 and it did it again man this is getting frustrating
I've had this problem on and off with the phone ever since i got it (so stock v4, R1.5, GV1.2). For me, it occasionally sits with the outgoing arrow moving, as if it were trying to send in area with no service. The workaround that i've used has been going to airplane mode which sometimes works, or more frequently, eating a reboot. Sometimes this results in them receiving duplicate texts. when i complained to Verizon they claimed it was common...

I used to have this issue, but it either resolved itself or something I did fixed it, but I have no idea what that something might have been.
I'm currently waiting on a replacement phone due to my USB connection no longer working, so we'll see if this problem makes a comeback. If you see me on IRC feel free to hit me up...I have some vague ideas as to what I might have changed that eliminated the issue, that's not a service guarantee though.
Looks as though its time to change forums. Verizon is switching me to a droid charge cant wait to see how this goes
Hi I'm trying to post this up for my girlfriend's phone. I bought her the Revolution around Christmas time and it worked perfect until recently. Sometimes it takes a few minutes, almost 15 on occasion, to send a text. Now she sometimes doesn't even receive them. Does anyone else have this problem? I tried uninstalling/reinstalling Handcent thinking it was the problem, but nothing works. Any feedback would be great! I'm trying to avoid having to Root her phone. She wants a stock phone that's reliable. Thanks
I have a problem.getting text messages too. Mostly longer messages. If the text is broken into 2 or 3 texts, I will never get all the parts. It makes it impossible to keep up a conversation. Not just some of the time ALL of the time

Welcome to the LG Revolution.
I had the same issue when I bought my phone. It sucks. And... it went away. Your best bet.. and this is going to sound like I am trying to sell you on doing something... is root, and get a new rom for your phone. I can't remember if I did anything to "fix" the problem. Whether it was do a factory reset and data wipe, or if I just waited for The Cubed to come out with his first rom. I am almost certain, I did the reset, but it came back, and then with in the next day or two, the rom was out. There must be something Verizon based that is on our phone to send sms, that when Cubed removed it, cleared up the issue.
If you need any further help, just let us know.
The same goes for you Mkhang!!
I really want to stay away from rooting. That means I have to spend the time, research, and constant updates from developers haha. It's just a lot of work. My girlfriend uses her phone for the most basic things. Internet, Facebook(of course ), texting, and calling. She doesn't need the wifi tether and fancy extras that I have on my Thunderbolt haha. I guess I'll have to stop into Verizon for this issue? Such a sad thing. But it might just be her phone since now she can't turn her screen off/on. Hmm...

Sorry to hear you are afraid of rooting. Honestly, the LG is the easiest to root. We have a great community here. At the very least rooting allows for themeing. And we have some nice ones.
The screen is an issue... haven't seen that. I have heard that Gingerbread has caused screen freezing, but you can still turn it off, and then back on, and have it work again.
Good luck.
Hello everyone. Good to be back browsing the forums again!
I'm still within my 14 day exchange period (barely). I need to exchange my phone but I'm rooted (using Towelroot).
1. Will they be able to tell I was rooted? I didn't see anything about KNOX during root process (aside from SuperUserSU# asking if I wanted to try to disable it upon install).
2. If so, will they care? (phone works fine, no "problems" it's an S5 Active and the physical hardware buttons are turning the phone on in my pocket constantly, I'm going to try the standard S5 - I know it's somewhat prone to this but it's not nearly as bad; my wife has S5 and no issues...)
3. Anything I should / could do to avoid any potential issues? I've got system / OTA updates disabled via TB so presumably if I unfreeze and let the phone update itself I'll lose root and return to stock.
4. Has anyone exchanged an AT&T phone (during initial 14 day period)? Any issues or was it painless?
I've only got a day or two left in my exchange period so I'm hoping to get this figured out (my wife has been in the hospital the entire time so I've not had much time).
Thanks in advance for any input and guidance, I do appreciate it!

Just Odin your device with the proper files. There are multiple guides on how to do so. Once you do that, you're golden. I've exchanged within the 14 day and 60 day period of warranty. They do not bat an eye.
Sorry to hear about your wife. I hope she gets well soon.

I'm glad to hear that this should not be too bad. I've use Odin in the past on previous phones so I'll find the appropriate guide for my situation.
Glad to hear you had good experiences with exchanging (surprised actually!) I'll give AT&T a call today and get the ball rolling. Hoping they'll work something out where they send the new phone and let me send this one back so I'm not completely without a phone during the exchange period?
And thanks for the kind words regarding my wife. I appreciate that!
Ive done it multiple times. Its very simple to do. God bless for your wife. Thanks
