I know it's a Motorola but how is the signal? - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

I haven't seen any complaints so I'm assuming it's great like any other Motorola.

Yes it's good.

Wi-fi is a little spotty, but cell reception is good.

WiFi is on par with my old S3, LTE is a bit better. I haven't been in any 3G or 1x only areas yet.

I'll be honest I love the droid turbo. but my 4g really isnt reliable. Ive had much better on other phones. Theres a lot of areas that pose a complete dead zone for the turbo where it excelled for my s4. Sadly i think the service is weaker than older devices I've had. realistically I cant complain I'm not paying a dime for this phone. My verizon pays 25 bucks a month for edge... and well thats exactly the price of my droid. Free droid turbo? complaints? im sorry i cant.

Not as reliable as my Razr M. The Turbo says it has better service, but for some reason will have trouble sending texts where the M wouldn't. But it's a lot better than my buddy's S4, and my GF's iPhone 5s

My signal bars dont read as high but the phone seams to receive as well as my Moto Maxx. A little better then A note 4 about the same as LG G3. I live in a fringe area zip code 23921 USA

my wifi used to drop in the house the first couple days, hasnt done that the past few though. phone signal is pretty good though, voice quality and volume is good (just turn off the equalizer), LTE speed is also pretty good, Im getting 50/40 for speeds.

Pretty solid. I commute from riverside ca to San Diego ca every day. It never drops

It's been pretty good. Better than my One (M7) at holding signal. Much better than my old GNEX. At work I'm stuck with 3G because of walls but it's better than my Moto G (Verizon Prepay) and I can even get 4G when I move to the corner offices.

It's really good on my end as well.

Same here. Better than my lg g3.

Thanks for the replies! I currently have an iPhone 5S. Hoping the signal is better at work.

Can someone compare it to the first gen. Moto X's signal reception? I'm using it right now and I miss how stable my 3G signal was when I had a Samsung (the only thing I miss about that phone. )

Droid4? LTE...

I'm going to be pissed if this comes out soon. I just got my D3 a few months ago
http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/27/motorola-droid-4-exposed-to-our-wandering-eyes-comes-with-lte-i/
If this is true my D3 will hit ebay and I'll buy a nexus. This is just bad business, asinine.
I don't see how they can do this to consumers and think it's okay. I signed an additional 2 years onto my 1 year for this phone, just to be ****ed in the ass 3 months later. I will not buy anything but nexus in the future. One phone a year, like it's supposed to be.

Can see VZ bloatware on one of the pics -- would assume this is fairly close. Moto/VZ appear to be really jerking around customers these days - I am sure Bionic customers are upset that the Droid RAZR came out so quickly (although the gap between Bionic and RAZR is much smaller), and now us Droid 3'ers have this Droid 4 coming out. I am more interested in how much RAM this thing has - LTE still sucks down too much battery life for my taste, and non-removable battery is non-ideal - I like the the slim Motorola extended batteries - the 1900 mah one for Droid 3 adds essentially no thickness and lasts a lot longer than stock 1500.

Non removable battery is an instant do not want from me also, but I'm just pissed about this ****. I will never buy another motorola phone, I'm done. Give me Nexus or give me death.
I paid full retail for this phone right when it came out, I'm pretty pissed. If that comes out within the next few months (from the looks of it, it will) it'll be goodbye moto and hello nexus for me.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA App
Yeah ill be pretty frustrated @ moto too.... problem is I can't live without a keyboard and for some reason moto is the only company willing to put out higher end keyboard phones
Well, the Nexus looks great (as long as you are ok with something that big - I am not), and I do love the idea of a pure Google experience, but nobody has actually used one; we have no idea how good or bad it will be. And, this is a Samsung phone, and is coming out even closer to the launch of the Samsung Charge than any the presumed D4 is coming to the D3. This is the reality - you reach a point to get an upgrade, you get the upgrade, and you stop worrying whether something slightly better is coming out in a few months - because it is.
I'm ok with a thinner device with non-removable battery - I have chargers everywhere, including in my car, and there are plenty of great portable charging devices that you can get for phones like that. After tons of issue with the Bionic over two weeks dropping data (3G, in areas where I know I have a solid 3G signal), I'm happy to have the D3 for the next 19.5 months, and give plenty of time to Moto and VZW to get LTE truly ready for prime time - because it's not quite there now. The D3 is a great phone and I'll be fine with it; not a single data drop since I've had it, and battery life is about the same as the Bionic (when it was running CDMA only).
I do think that this angle-cornered design of the Razr and this prototype is a bit on the unattractive side, though, compared with the Bionic/D3.
I don't mind that they are putting out another version of the Droid soon. It's a losing battle to have the latest and greatest phone. What bothers me is what will happen to OS updates. Will phones get abandoned quicker?
Also did anyone else notice non-removable battery, looks like I wouldn't buy it. I pay an and a leg for a phone along with a plan and both Verizon and Motorola act like they own your phone. Do they not realize why people buy Android phones? I can upgrade/swap batteries, I can run whatever programs I want, I can add a memory card, etc.
for people like sims and whitty who have been doing a lot of work on the d3 and are being ostracized, i firmly believe this is an idiotic move on moto's side. I'm probably gonna go the nexus route if the d4 drops as soon as everyone is speculating it is. This is some major bs.
At least I have the Transformer Prime to look forward to....
But seriously. Ugh. Waco has no 4G of any kind and won't for years to come so this doesn't affect me too much, but still. This will take away a huge amount of potential users and will piss off all the D3 buyers, especially the ones like me who bought it on full retail.
I hope the D4 will have no global radio, so I will not be tempted. ;-)
Most people won't have 4G for at least another year. By then, that phone will be obsolete, I wouldn't sweat the small stuff.
*If you're not on Gingerbread, you should be shot*
Really, who cares about 4G when the 3G part is not on par with a 3 years old Sonyericsson phone ?
Good God some of you are getting worked up over a phone. It is not a big deal just let it go.

It is a big deal because if someone wants a qwerty are they going to buy the 3 or the 4? We'll be left behind with a smaller community, as great as it is. It's just frustrating and I've had it with moto's bull****.

Interesting point, if it does have a GSM radio, this will be the first Global capable phone with LTE. How wold that even work, 2 SIM cards?
Non-replaceable battery will keep it off my list too. I'm in the NYC Metro Area and I know a few people with LTE phones, Bionic, Charge and TB. All have the same complaint, the battery life is horrible and they have constant connection issues. I'm waiting until next year summer-fall when the 2nd or 3rd generation LTE chips come out.
i was pissed then i saw no removable battery the i was like i dont care lol. i choose unlimited 3g over limited 4g any day i got grandfatherd over so its all good
Motorola can't be serious, Droid 3 is only about 4 month old.
And I don't really like the curved design

If you're on unlimited data now (using 3G), when you switch to a 4G phone you stay on unlimited data (now using 4G).

Droid 4...

I know people have made threads about the droid 4 before but this is me pondering with myself when im bored. Do u guys realize that pretty much the only major significant differences between the d3 and d4 is the fact that the d4 has about 500 more mb ram than d3 and it runs at 1.2 GHz and ours run at 1.0... welll i was thinking... we have overclock now so there goes that difference. Plus as overclock progresses and as time goes by i feel like we could hit as high as 1.5 safely. So pretty much the only major difference is the ram butt whooocaress? Like not to brag about our phones but Once were unlocked (which i feel like wont be much longer) our phone literally will be superior to any other android phone. What do you guys have to say (;
P.s. i could be missing specs but i feel like those 2 are the major ones.

You forgot the LTE radio.
You also get ICS and Webtop support iirc
4g lte is major...
Will the Droid 4 be a Global phone again?
Yeahhh butt like i honestly feel like 3g is better than 4g i really do. I dont care for 4g at all.

i dont understand that. 4g is alot faster than 3g. only problem is battery life, and that is only if you dont know how to manage battery life ;]
What about the screen?
Another problem is that D4's LTE is only good for Verizon.
DYP, screen seems to be the same as D3's. Screenshots clearly showed pentile matrix and specs say TFT - so it must be the same crappy screen as D3.

Yeah i agree its faster but it pretty much is an upgraded 3g like it not always works. It sometimes drops. Data bills increase. Idk man i just dont really care for it. And yeah battery life decreases tremendously but once people are able to flash stuff for it it will improve. I feel like 4g has alot of improvement to do not gonna lie
Sent from my droid 3 using Tapatalk
cant lie about lots of that. 4g is a great technology, its the carriers that arent using it to its full potential. If you look at the actual 4g capable speeds and the speeds the carriers are letting us have, you will be even more disappointed lol.
The battery sucking isses will hopefully be obsolete once carriers get more heavily engaged in research using fuel cells.
Everyone says the Droid 4 is what the Droid 3 should have been.
For my part, yeah, it kind of gets on my nerves, but not too much. 1G of RAM would be nice, but I rarely run out with 512MB. I don't stream multimedia, so 3g is fast enough for me.
And the price was nice, $150 with a data plan. So I have no complaints.
As things stand now, the Droid 4 will probably be my next phone in a year or or so.

What bout the fact that you can be on the phone and go online at the same time. not sure if that is true but if thats the case then that will come in very helpful to me for work.
I didn't know about that. Yeah, that's pretty sexy. It's annoying when I get/make a lot of calls and my IRC session constantly drops.

Battery life is not the only problem. I bought a Bionic in early October but had regular issues with random data drops - so that I had no LTE, 3G or 1X - in area where I know there is strong and solid Verizon 3G. There was also a nationwide, 24 hour data outage when I was ten days in. I exchanged the Bionic for the D3 because it was the best 3G phone on Verizon.
Since then there have been two more nationwide LTE outages (which also takes out 3G for the LTE phone, but not for 3G phones), and the Bionic forums are filled with people still complaining about random data drops. (Apparently this is fixed with an LTE SIM swap, but who has time to keep going in to Verizon for a new SIM?) Meanwhile, my D3 has been a solid, solid, solid data device every since I got it in mid-October.
LTE is still not mature and I think I'll be happier locked in to a solid 3G phone like the D3 rather than an immature LTE phone (because surely the hardware and network will get better in the next year or so) for the next 20 or so months. I would be happier if the D3 had been 1 GB RAM, but I don't feel it's that big a deal. I can tell you that it's frustrating when you need data access somewhere and find that the phone isn't getting data where you know that it should be.
If you turn off LTE and force CDMA on your 4g phone, you can can be locked into 3G connectivity. That said, I like having a removal battery. I like that I have the choice to buy the extended. I think Droid 4 will be a bust tbqh. More memory would be nice but with Dpwhitty11's ROM, I don't have a need for it.
I don't honestly care. Hash has the ICS ROM coming along well and when it has the camera to me it will be perfectly stable for an Alpha. I am glad that it works and yeah 4G would be nice but I don't care honestly.

I do believe that someone is working on a ics rom for the RAZR. so assuming that the 2 phones will be comparable it should be relatively easy for someone to port it over to the droid 4 "ASSUMING" they are going to be similar.
Razr will get official ICS support, not sure why anyone would work on it on their own. It would merely be a waste of their time.

3G connectivity is still affected by LTE outages on LTE phones. If LTE is down (as I believe it was again toady), 3G almost always is as well, though it is not for 3G-only phones. I also had as many random data drops with CDMA only mode as I did with LTE/CDMA on the Bionic.

Thinking about purchasing a HTC One...

I have owned a iPhone 3G, Samsung Galaxy, Dell Streak, Dell Venue, Samsung Glide, HTC One X, HTC Inspire, iPhone 4, and a Nokia Lumia 900. All of these phones were on the AT&T network and required SIM cards.
Currently, I am looking at purchasing a HTC One on the Sprint network and was wondering if there are any pros/cons that I should know of, not only on this device, but on the network itself.
Any advice, input, or suggestions are welcome.
Thank you.
I'm using it on att. but, about htc one, I think camera sux except for low light, most lcds have stuck pixels but as pixels are really small not that niticable except for tests. Aluminum can get uncomfortable to hold while gaming due to heat generation. Comparing to Samsung gs4, htc is better in everything except camera.
My experience on htc one: made 7 exchange requests and used each of them for at least a week before giving up.
My experience in general sense: smartphone user since college senior, 2006. (i.e. my membership date.)

Go GSM. Sprint isn't very good in my experience. Plus, on Sprint, you either have LTE or "3G". HSPA on GSM networks is so much faster than the 3G here, it's ridiculous. It's even faster than most of the LTE I get! The ATT one has a logo, though, so you might want to go t-mobile/ international /dev/Google play edition.
CDMA phones generally don't get as much love. That's just a thumb rule, but there are people out there who are completely converting their devices to Google play edition. So go GSM.
If you're patient though, you'll wait until HTC follows up on the One with their One+ in fall/winter. One def leaves some things to be desired like camera quality, QC, triband LTE and battery life/optimization.
Sprint network has always been spotty where i live (joplin mo) especially after the tornado a few years back. BUT they must have put some new towers in or something because now i get 4g everywhere and i am really impressed with it.
As for the phone? camera is weak for such a high end device. its not that its really bad its just not really that good.... my wifes s3 takes 10x better photos which is a let down. Battery has been good for me running viperrom. although charging does take forever! chargring at night is a must! no 30 min power naps for this phone. but everything else about the phone is great i really am glad i traded my iphone5 for it. why are u jumping from att to sprint?

How is the signal strength? Moto radios?

Many moons ago I owned the original Droid X. I always thought that phone had better reception compared to other phones at the time. I was wondering how the new moto X stacks up compared to the competition. Does anyone have a moto X, and possibly other phones (GS4, HTC One, N4, Xperia Z), that can do a signal strength comparison? Also, how is the voice quality?
I have only had my Verizon Motorola x for a day but compared to the GNex the radios are awesome. I can't really speak against other phones though.
Wi-Fi strength is double for me with both bars and speedtests.
4g strength is good as well. I'm getting signal where I wasn't and stronger signal all around.
Anything is better than the gnex, it was horrible! Seems good, on par with the DNA I had and I always admire HTC radios. GPS is very good.

The signal is actually VERY good. I get LTE in areas where my S3, S4, Iphone 5 and Nexus 4 never did. Still does not beat my S2 i9100 though, that phone had legendary signal. I'm talking long phone convos on the underground subway, where 99% of phones have no signal.

Nexus 6 signal/reception quality vs Note 4

Hello All,
I am a dissatisfied Note 4 owner. My wife has a moto x (2nd gen) and side by side, hers is faster and blows my Note 4 out of the water in terms of cell phone reception. I live in rural TN and reception is like gold many times. I am looking at getting a different phone with a better reception and I am on the fence between the LG G4 and the Nexus 6.
My question is: Is the Nexus 6 phone reception just as good as the Moto X or the LG G4? I know from first hand experience how good the Moto X is and I would like something along this line of phone quality. Any advice I can get would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Like you, I owned a note 4. I disliked many things about the phone, but the two main things that got me to sell it were the unacceptable speed, and poor cell reception.
I replaced it with a nexus 6, and im now way happier with both the speed and signal strength.
I remember looking into the signal strength issue at the time, and found that the moto x uses some fancy antenna tech to achieve better than average signal strength, and I believe that the same antenna design is used for the nexus 6. I certainly have no regrets about swapping

Yes, the N6 phone reception is as good as the MotoX 2014, particularly in weak signal areas.
