My LCD screen went black and the earpiece wouldn't work, (never dropped it) I changed the screen and everything is fine except that I can only hear with the speaker phone turned on. Would anyone know if I replaced the "Main Flex Assembly Cable" that might fix the problem so I can have a conversation without having to use the speaker ??
Thanks
I bought my Tilt on ebay for real cheap, because the speaker was not working. I would like to get it to work, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to help? I'm sure this is hardware related cuz I've flashed this phone many times. I've replaced the speaker wit on off of ebay but still the sound is routed! It clicks as if it wants to work, but there's nothing. Am I doomed to not having a speaker?
Nuthin huh
Maybe try reflashing the ROM

Not to hijack the thread but I too have a speaker related issue only mine works when I tape (duct tape) the top/edge of the speaker assembly to the body. anyway to replace this piece? seems to be coming apart..
Ok so the digitizer on my milestone went bad about a month ago, i ordered one off ebay and installed it myself. unfortunately while doing so i ripped the flex ribbon that has the sensors attached to it. went on ebay again and ordered that part and installed it, didnt destroy anything this time.
put the phone back together and everything seemed to be working fine, then i got a call, the person on the other end couldnt hear me and the proximity sensor caused the screen to go blank even before i put the phone to my ear
if i put the phone on speaker phone the person hears me but its very low im told, inserting the headset works fine, person can hear me perfectly.
i tried doing a recording with the phones sound recorder and all i hear is a hissing type sound when i play it back, i also downloaded an app to test the proximity sensor and its showing a distance of zero and when i put my finger near and further away from it its still saying zero.
tried doing a battery pull..hard reset, reflashing the froyomod that i have install and nothing seems to work, could this be a defect with the flex ribbon i bought? would this ribbon affect the microphone?
any help would be appreciated
Thanks
I also damaged the flex ribbon while changing the digitizer... where did you get the ribbon? Anywhere in the EU?
got it off ebay..it was shipped from china
bump........
I have the same problem and it's the effect of the digitizer replacement. Light can get access to the sensor between the digitizer and the sensor. If you press the left upper side of the digitizer the proximity sensor is working again, very annoying during calls. I tried to put some spongy tape behind the sensor and the metal backing plate it's better but not perfect.

Luvkillin, have you been able to fix this abomination of a mobile phone? I had a malfunctioning digitiser and replaced it, after that the microphone stopped working so i thought that I had broken the microphone. Changed the audio pcb and turns out that its still not working. My prox sensor also doesn't work but with all the other problems this is just a nuisance.
I found that motorola couldn't be arsed specifying the second microphone that is on the logic board and some acting as noise cancelling. I installed a db meter app and picks approximately 25db except when the phone rings which goes to 65db. So if the noise cancelling module is disabled by software, the mic could work without changing the logic board.
Did you manage to fix it?

No i havent, its just sitting at home in a drawer
i also installed a db meter app and got a consistent 16-19db when the phone is not in use. i assumed that it was too much of a coincidence that everything was working before and as soon as i changed the cable and digitizer they stopped working. plus the digitizer and cable i bought was for the milestone a855 and i have a a853. when i checked they seemed to be the same but i guess not.
im planning to just buy a new digitizer and cable for my phone specifically and see how it goes.

I believe its the noise reduction microphone damaged at some point in the disassembly. Did you check the 3 gold pins on the right upper side of the logic board?

Yea i did. dont see any damage at all to the pins or the board
The same problem here. I've changed digitizer and my proximity sensor stopped working. So I thought that I broke it during the work. I've ordered new main flex with the sensor. It was much better but still not perfect. But microphone went down. I think the problem is microphone board or the flex cable that connects it to the mainboard. Did you manage to solve the problem? I've ordered new mic and new flex.

Nope..still no fix
did that fix yours?
anyone knows how to disable to noise cancellation microphone?
Hi guys,
to refer to the proximity sensor issue, i'd like to point you on my old post over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9810999&postcount=8
Please check for the rubber...
Concerning the microphone, this might be related to the electrical contacts of the mic.
Please make sure again that everthing is right in place.
Would not harm to check the flex cable connectors as well.

scholbert
Solved problem
Hi to all,
I had problem with my proximity sensor, it didn't work at all. (I had cm7, cm6 and cm9 rom)
I installed stock rom and it works again. ))
Microphone problem
Hi all !, I'm having a similar issue after change the digitizer, I'm not having any issue with the proximity sensor ... but is not the case with my microphone, when I answered a call my voice is heard into the speaker and the other person didn't hear me .. somebody found a solution to this problem ? Thanks all !
Had simular problem after replacing digitazer. if i press hard on upper side of the screen, then for some time everything comes to normal. So i desided to heat it up using a hair dyer for about 10 minutes, than press as hard as i can and wait till cool down. now everything is fine.
I have an XT1053 Dev Edition and it has a very noisy vibrate function. I've read that this is common on these phones, but I haven't found any solutions yet. I just had my phone apart when replacing the rear facing camera and the battery cover (success on the camera fix!), and I had a chance to check out the vibrator motor. The shaft of the motor has a lot of vertical play, enough that I could move it in and out with my screw driver, and it would make a click sound as it hit a stop on either end of the motion. There didn't seem to be any side-to-side play so I don't think the motor is going bad. I believe it's just this vertical play that causes all the noise. This is really annoying because my friends cheapo LG has a nice quiet, rubbery feeling vibrate, where my Moto X sounds like a kids noisemaker out of a 25 cent gumball machine.
Has anyone found a solution for this? I've tweaked the vibrate intensity for certain functions, which helps for tactile feedback. But it still sounds bad, and on silent I can't turn the vibrate intensity down or else I won't feel it. I'd go as far as replacing the vibrate motor if it would silence the rattle. Although I haven't seen anywhere at all to even think about purchasing a new vibrate motor. I though maybe a dab of silicone where the shaft enters the housing? Also, did these phones do this out of the box when brand new? I got mine second hand so I don't know how loud/quiet it's supposed to be.
I havt a moto xt1050, sure their not to off from the branch, like tours mine in used, but the vibrate is nice smooth an isn't loud, on the other hand it rumbles the entire phone. Replacing could fix it, but would probably require a heat gun an some skills . I personally would examine the motor at play(watch it work an locate problem. An is the weight head moving in an out of the motor(horizontally) or up an down(vertically)? The latter would be a cause of this issue. The horizontal play is perfectly normal for a electric motor, they require some play there other wise the motor would seize an stick eventually (a lot quicker then with the play)
I'm suspecting the mounts for the motor is loose
#1; Check an see if the motor has vertical play on the board.
Can it move up an down? Should be a solid feeling, no play in either direction.
#2; Check to make sure its not something obstructing the motors weight head, or anything to close, ex.. If the cover case is to close an it rubs, it will cause a loud tick/knocking noise while it vibrates.
If none of the above helps, give me a detailed description of the noise, an possibably some pics of the motor maybe....

Please my moto x is not turning on but it keeps vibrating
Hello! I recently replaced the screen and the frame of my phone, but the top speaker got damaged. The problem is that on higher volume the speakers make a horrible buzzing sound. I heard the same story about many HTC one devices after replacing the screen, speaker being glued on the frame. I saw on a topic for HTC One M8 that someone resolved this by lowering the volume of the problematic speaker. I want to know how to adjust the balance permanently from the mixer_paths.xml because I have no idea what to change in this file. I don't want to buy another speaker because the shipping would cost 5 times more than the object itself.
