I had this to a few times.
1. Do a nandroid backup.
2. Wipe Data / Factory Reset
3. Format /system
4. Flash Cm10 / Gapps / etc...
5. Go to Backup / Restore and do an Advanced restore of /data only
6. Wipe Cache / Dalvik cache
7. Reboot

You can't. Either flash a .tar kernel using odin. Or go back to Gingerbread and start from scratch.
Hey
U can put ur phone to recovery/download mode using scripts that are available...they put your phone to CWM and then u can follow the above steps..

When using Jelly Bean, IF you cannot get into recovery mode only download mode and boot loops
Do a battery Pull and press the power button for a min, reinsert battery and then try using the 3 button combo to go into recovery , it works

try to use andro platina utility, link on MY android collections below, uses ADB, or even easy recovery, using ADB to boot into recovery
or even flashing a kernel on download mode could do the trick...see quick solutions /fixes
Thanks to all..resolved flashed a kernel then saved all the data and then re-flashed with odin!

I had the same issue after trying to OTA update RootBox Jelly Bean to 2.3...Bootloop, just flashing screen, no recovery only download mode. Should I try flashing the latest Siyah kernel via Odin? Thanks!

Hi xsenman
i had a boot loop? issue on I9000. after flashing cm-10-20120919-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd.zip phone booting directly into CWM recovery. i have tryed your "Boot Loops, Booting Problems, Stuck at Boot Screen" solutions, but with no luck. phone witch semaphore JB kernel is still booting directly into recovery.
downgrade to stock GB is possible, and stock ROM si running.
thank you for an suggestions

you have already tried flashing a semaphore JB kernel and it does not solve it?
If thats the case, you can try flashing a bootloader like i9000 Ezboot or i9000 boot.tar with Odin from My android collections , link below

Can't enter Factory Recovery mode [HELP]

I was trying to install CWM recovery (recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-tass) into my Galaxy mini
I entered factory recovery mode and try to install upper file. But the screen blurred immediately......
Now, when i trying to enter factory recovery mode, it show "Downloading" only....
But I can boot into Android OS.
How to fix Recovery mode problem ??
Thanks
i think you are doing wrong you will need to press home + power button to go into recovery mode
but you are going to download mode mode by pressing volume down also
Didn't you see don't use in the title of the thread containing that recovery now try flashing yagya cwm recovery through Odin.because that recovery your talking about isn't good.

now i used odin to recover factory rom

Dead GNote

Dears
I need your support that i was trying to flash CM10 ROM and i used CWM touch to wipe and reset factory setting but the recovery mod got freezed and after that it kept restarting with showing only the startup Screen and i couldn't open the recovery mode but the download mode working fine
i tried to flash the GB or the ICS stock ROM but both freezed nearly at the end of the flashing
I also tried to flash CF-Root-SGN_XX_XEU_LQ2-v5.6-CWM5 and AbyssNotekerne both were flashed normaly
can any one help me plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
you have bricked your phone, likely cause you didn't follow instal instructions and performed wipes on unsafe cwm.zip, or unsafe kernel in unsafe recovery.
Best case is flash safe kernel, reboot in safe recovery, then do wipes.
Check if you can flash gb rom throught pc odin and it doesn't get stuck on factorysys longer then an hour. See dr ketans thread on that in sticky section development.
all at own risk.

It's very clear and well documented that cwm.zip its a dangerous recovery... Now Wich kernel were you using when performing the wipes with cwm? If your answer its stock ICS, pack your phone for deliveries and send it to samsung for repairs.. As you just got super bricked..
Some other kernel then explain further

Steps for flashing kernel

Hi, I have a question about flashing kernels, please help me a little bit
I have kernel semaphore in a JW5 stock ROM but I want to change this kernel for the last voodo's version. I want to know what steps I must follow to install this kernel correctly (i read about scrpits cleaning but I'm not sure how it works and if its neccesary). If it was posible, I don't want to reinstall the ROM or lose applications.
Thank you so much. I hope your answers.
P.D: Sorry for my english
if u have stock kernell you don't need to use cleaning scripts, so
1. turn off phone
2. turn on in download mode (vol down home power)
3. start odin and press reset
4. put your kernel .tar file in pda
5. connect phone via usb to pc (in odin you should have addedd!!)
6. in odin press stert
after reboot you'll have kernel installed

I don' t have stock kernel, I have semaphore
Enviado desde mi GT-I9000 usando Tapatalk 2
then go to cwm, and choose clear semaphore settings (or something like that) reboot, and flash new version.
also if you're changing from semaphore to semaphore you don't have to do it

Just flash the kernel. I've actually run into problems before because I used a cleaning script.

I've just flashing voodo kernel but I have some bugs. I don't understand why everytime I reboot my phone the SuperSU app needs to update. I update it, next I turn off the phone, I turn it on and the app needs again the update. How can I fix it?
Thanks again!
Try clearing data for superSU, if that doesn't work then uninstall and reinstall it.

Good, did just clearing the data not work?
If it comes back you could also try clearing market data, but hopefully it will be fine now.

No, first I cleared the data but when I rebooted the phone, the "bug" (if it could be called bug) persists. Then, I uninstalled the app using their own option and, without rebooting, I downloaded it from market. It seems that method worked against all odds xDD
Anyway, thanks for the advice of clearing data, if it petsists, I' ve already known what to do
Sorry again for my english

Must be a bug with supersu somehow. If you have cleared it's data, uninstalled and reinstalled it, and cleared market data then i can't see what else you could do.

2. Boot to recovery by holding power-volume up-home buttons.

Why didn't you just follow my instructions above? Why would you do that?
Can you get into download mode at all? Even with black screen does it show as connected in Odin?
