When connected to my TuneLink in my car, I get intermittent background staticky distortion and slight freezes in audio playback every few seconds. Anyone else experiencing this? I tried the "Xperia Z1 Bluetooth media fix" on the Play store, but it didn't help. My Nexus 5 and numerous iphones pair and play on the device flawlessly. Any ideas? Thanks

Using it with Bluetooth 5 days a week for about 40-50min each day, never noticed anything of the sort.
What player are you using? (Walkman here)

Thanks for the reply. I'm using Google Play Music, but it also happens when I've used the "listen" feature on the Pocket app for text-to-voice reading of articles. Could this have something to do with Sony Throw? I know nothing about this function. Thanks

I had the distortion with a new Z3 Compact in a new Mini. I got a new device - but the problem was the same. No solution. I am not using the Z3 Compact anymore. I also have no problem with iPhone, Nexus etc.
i just started getting this problem recently too. but i think it has to do with the smart connect/tasker. as i wasn't using it before, and after i started to, then it started doing it in the walkman. however, when i close/reopen the app, the problem goes away. it only happens when you first connect it and the player starts.
Have this issue as well. Only happens with my bluetooth headset. Moto SD-11. Works
fine for about 30 minutes, then it starts skipping badly. I have to move the phone around on my belt to temporarily get it to stop.
Noticed as well that bluetooth audio link is less robust than with my other devices. Could this be due to the fact that the antenna is smaller?
Anyone have/had similar bluetooth issues with other Sony devices? Can we hope for a firmware or other update that could correct it, or is it more likely a hardware issue?

Did you leave the device for this reason? I've been happy with it so far otherwise.
well it looks like my issue is directly related to tasker/smart connect. i haven't had any trouble since i've stopped using them to automate the music player. either way, i still think it's a fault in the music player since i can just close it and reopen it and it works perfectly fine.

so i just got the Z3... my previous phone was the one m8 and it streamed music to my cars stereo ( dodge UConnect) via bluetooth flawlessly, now i have this Xperia Z3 and it makes listening to music completely impossible ... aside from the fact that it slows down every song ever so slightly it skips every few seconds..... i dont think its the phone bc it streams to jbl speakers just fine, but once i get into the car im forced to use aux .... i checked with dodge and they have no clue and there are no updates for my uconnect system..... wtf guys?! normally this would be a game changer and id just send back the phone and get another one m8 but the camera in this is way superior and remote play is sick..... any suggestions?

Hi all, I have tried searching around and haven't managed to to find anything even remotely similar (if such a thread exists, I apologise and I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction), So i'm posting as a last resort, I really hope somebody is able to help me.
I am experiencing a lot of random "snicking" and clicking over btaudio A2DP between my xperia Z and my 2010 camry hybrid. The snicking is not present in bt calls, just bt audio playback. I have not experienced this problem with any of my older phones in the same car (iphone 4, 4s, sgs, sgs2, sgs3 have all been without issue).
The snicking is most noticeable in quiet or silent parts of a song, although lately from time to time it will progress from quiet snicking into full terrible distortion on every beat requiring me to pull over, unpair the phone, powercycle both the car and the phone and re-pair everything to get it back to something that is listenable.
I am using poweramp, but have tried several different music players to rule out the possibility of it being the player.
Has anybody encountered this, or able to help me troubleshoot it?
I am using a completely stock xperia Z, no mods whatsoever.
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

Thank you for your reply, I have tried with poweramp, and the standard walkman app, both have the same problem. I tried my wifes xz on the car and it was much much worse (dropping out, freezing etc) So I can only assume sony (or telstra) have screwed up the a2dp as it works completely fine in calls.
I might try dropping something non branded on it and see how it all goes.
Thank you for your time.
Just got my Z yesterday from T-Mobile, Love it so far compare to HTC One.
This only BIG issue is the Bluetooth drop out and never able to get back. I use it to stream to my MB stereo, which work with all others iphones, HTC One. but this Z it will just play couple sec than drop out totally, and I can't even try to re-connect, the option is grey out from my car stereo.
Does anyone experience the same, or is there a work around.
Thanks,

What are you streaming? Is it Pandora or Slacker or something data driven? It seems there is a big issue with all the models having Bluetooth interfering with Data. I have a similar thread in this section about my 6602. It's quite frustrating. I used to listen to Sirius over bluetooth but now that seems just about impossible on this phone.

Google Music you mean? That's definitely using the Data connection if you play your library off the cloud. That seems to be a known (but unfortunate issue). I'm not sure about the Walkman app though. I have no problems with that and Bluetooth at the same time.
I have received my T-Mobile Note 4, and I have the infuriating problem of random Bluetooth streaming skips / stutters. Does anyone else have this issue? I know it was a known problem on the S5's, and it never really got fixed...
Does anyone have any solutions for this? I checked out the ViPER EQ mod, could that help?
Currently I am 100% stock (latest version, got the T-Mobile patch right away), and I only use Spotify for music. I have experienced stutter in my Nissan, a pair of Sennheisers, and a Monoprice Bluetooth adapter. What's also upsetting is that the stock Samsung music player often starts playing when a Bluetooth streaming device is connected...
Any advice?

I am having the same issue. I really don't know if this is an issue or not. I drive charger and my M8 was the same. It's annoying I feel ya. hopefully someone can tell us how to control this thing.

It's funny because I'm coming from the M8 and it was flawless for me. That is was running 4.4.2, whereas this is 4.4.4... Any correlation?

I really don't know if this an issue. My M8 4.4.3 and had same thing. But to be fair Note 4 is more superior inside my car. I am able to listen to my text msg. Voice commands works really good on note 4.
I have this issue from time to time on my Nexus 5. I have to reboot it to fix it. It happens maybe 1 out of 30 times I use BT headsets. Enough to be annoying but not a deal breaker. I am beginning to think this may be an Android issue and not Samsung. Those that have the issue on Note 4, does a reboot fix the problem?
Every now and then when I play Tunein Radio Pro, it would be a hick up. I already did the 30 sec buffer. But usually it works. Is this what you mean?
In my Jeep Wrangler I have BlueTooth. Every few months when I get a new device, I always have to call my mom for the BlueTooth test. The Note 4 has been the only phone to pass. For whatever reason my mom's phone would always sound like I was in a tunnel with the exception on the Note 4. Even the LG G3 failed this. In my 2012 GTI I had issues with some devices as well as my 08 WRX. It always came down the the BlueTooth stack for phone call quality and skipping and sometimes just dropping/crashing out of BT all together. Hope you guys get yours resolved. I know this is a huge problem. Heck when Note had its recent update, I was worried it would break something its just been too good so far! Best of luck guys.
I believe its a kitkat bug. It happened on my note 3 as well
Might warrant a return.
This is so annoying. I'm coming from an M8 (and previously M7) and use bluetooth for everything. Wireless headphones at the gym, wireless speakers at home, media in my car, and a Moto360.
Never had any skips/stutters on previous devices through any of these. Moreover, sometimes the music just STOPS and drops the connection and I have to repair the two devices in the middle of a workout. Is anyone experiencing the music STOPPING? Might return/exchange mine if not.
This happens through any media app - GPM, Milk, Netflix, etc. Want to throw my device.
I am having this issue in my Outback, but it is not happening in my WRX. I was thinking maybe it just doesn't like one, but now I see this is a larger issue. I haven't had this problem with my S5, so maybe it'll clear up when some Roms are released.
I'm having the same issue with my wireless Bluetooth headphones. I thought it was because I was too far away from the phone, but I'm having the same problem when I'm close to the phone also. My Note 3 does not have this problem.
I used my like at least 6 years old Bluetooth headset for like the 4 hours and in that time I barely had skips it only skipped when I left the room and went a few feet away also
Sent from my SM-T210R using XDA Free mobile app
same here
I'm having the same problem
I find this happens when the screen is off. When it's on, no issue. I hope an update fixes this soon.
This stopped after I went to Firekat Rom. Not sure why or how, but Bluetooth is smooth now

Just wanted to verify if anyone is NOT experiencing this issue? If there are Note's out there that are not experiencing it then I might exchange mine. If this is a software issue for all notes then this blows.

As I reported before, I had a similar issue on my Nexus 5 and rebooting would fix it. It was a rare occurrence but it would happen from time to time.
I have not experienced the issue at all on my Note 4 in the 8 days I have had it. I use BT quite a bit with my Heart Rate sensor and BT headsets while running and also connected to my stereo in my Sonata. Has been flawless so far.
This might have something to do with S-Health. Audio skipped for me every 10 minutes or so. Didn't matter the BT equipment. Yesterday, I decided to Disable S_Health. Today, at the gym, about a 90 minute session...no skips. The guy above using FireKat, by any chance that rom has S-Health disabled/uninstalled by default?

Hello I am on the latest e update from T-Mobile and have noticed in my cars Bluetooth when I stream music it seems to have popping noises that seems to be like it's having a hard time keeping up with the stream. I also noticed with audio from videos played through my car has an aweful sync delay. I have a 2017 Ford with Sync3. I have no issues with my older Nexus 6p or GS 7.
Has anyone else experienced this? Wondering if I have a defective unit.

I have the same problem with the new update connecting to my 2017 Ford Escape. I found a work around, though. If I disconnect and then reconnect to the car's Bluetooth, the skipping goes away. No idea why this would happen, but hopefully the next update fixes it. I don't want to do this every time I get in my car!
Edit: Also, I'm 90% sure I didn't have this problem before the update.
I hope so too. I have factory reset and turned battery optimization off all Bluetooth apps too. Also I had all the new play store updates. And when I factory reset I lost them all. Seems like the updates tab and filter options were on then gone after reset. ?

No update yet.
Which version of Bluetooth are your devices/car bluetooth connections utilizing? Just curious.
My stereo headphones use 4.0 (Jabra Move), but I haven't noticed any issue yet with high CPU usage, battery drain, quality issues, etc. I've had it on when out in case a call comes in.

Bluetooth Issues
Hi, I have been having bluetooth issues with this phone since day one. It does not happen with all bluetooth devices but it definitely happens with my Pioneer Head unit in the car. Sometimes it also depends on the application used. The strange this is that it does not happen all the time, but when it does it happens frequently. I also noticed that the headunit will get stuck in voice command mode after using voice command, also the phone will answer calls by itself even though this feature is turned off in the settings. The message is "Bluetooth device has stopped working". This obviously did not happen with my G4. I have cleared Cache and all bluetooth devices, and have also cleared them on th Head Unit. I do have another Pioneer head unit in another vehicle, different model and it does the same thing. I have seen many people reporting issues with car units in other vehicles.
Hoping for a quick update, I know weird things are bound to happen with new phones. I really like the phone, this is the only real anoying issue.
I think the issue is more so bluetooth than anything else. Bluetooth never was, and likely never will be, a truly reliable data transfer protocol.
Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
I think the issue has to do with device incompatibilities. Every phone I have had, I see reports of BT problems that I just don't experience. Hooks up to the car in a flash. Works with both my bt headphones and soundbar for my tv.
My car is a nissan maxima.
I have had g2, g3, g4, nexus 6p , g5 and now g6. The nexus was the worst for my devices. It worked, but getting connected took longer.
Possibly The Music App Being Used
I don't have a ford like allot of you guys replying in the thread, however I have noticed that specifically "Google Play Music" will have an issue on any bluetooth device; where if you have a widget of the player on the phone, and you have listened to music using the app BEFORE you connected to the vehicle, when trying to play from where you were in the song, it will pop and skip around. The only way to fix this easily is to pause the song, clear the app out of recents and re open the app and play. Hope this helps some of you.
I have also noticed this with my G6. I have a 2014 Chevy Malibu and use Google Play Music, streaming through T-Mobile. I have no issues streaming music to the same car with GPM through my Samsung GS7. I noticed someone mention disconnecting then reconnecting bluetooth, so I will give that a shot. Still frustrating, and I am hoping that LG will be able to come up with a software fix.
My G6 Bluetooth crashes every time its connected to my car "Bluetooth crash". It doesn't matter which app I use, it disconnects every 5 seconds. The rest of my phones connect without a problem to my Honda Accord. Even my fiance's G6 connects without an issue. I believe I got a bad unit, will return for another one and see what happens.
There were a ton of Bluetooth issues in 7.0. I had them on my Pixel XL. It really sucks that LG didn't ship the G6 with 7.1. Hopefully they implement the Bluetooth patches in 7.1. I can't get my Dodge truck to display Google Play Music metadata with my G6. My Pixel XL displays the metadata just fine. The G6 does display Google Play Music metadata in my Ford Explorer though.
I'm getting noticeable static when using Pandora via Bluetooth with my 2016 Subaru, but it's an improvement over my OnePlus 3T that wouldn't even allow media playback via Bluetooth with my car.

Hi Yes I am having a similar issue with my lg g6. I am also on tmobile. The sound randomly about 1-2 times during the song just starts to sound terrible (like FM quality). It does have a bit of a static/popping nosie, this happens for a few seconds for me and then goes back to sounding normal.

Thanks for the answer, unfortunately it didn't work.
I tried wiping my phone clean but it seems that after the LG Android Updates it starting acting worse. GPM does not help either.
I've tried everything, reset network, clearing all Bluetooth data, safe mode, even restarted my car's audio system. Brand new LG G6, not a day old and it doesn't connect to car, only call audio connects but not the media. Works fine with portable speakers but keeps disconnecting every ten seconds in car.

Are you using google music? I have found Slacker Radio and Spotify both work for me using bluetooth but Google Music just crashes continually.
Hello, Im new to this site but I've always found helpful answers here so I thought I'd ask a question. I have had LG phones for about 4 years now. The G4, and all the v series up to the v40. I have always had an issue with Bluetooth audio and I've yet to find a solution. It seems to be only when connecting to a car radio. At first it will play fine and then it just stops. The progress bar continues in the music app and the radio says it's playing but there's no sound. The only way I've found to make it work again is to restart my phone, which I have to do at least every other song if not more. Anyone else have this issue or know a solution? BTW it's not just one particular radio it's every car Ive tried it in. But Bluetooth speakers or headphones work just fine. So frustrating!
Semi-educated guess; software issue within car systems?

Any chance you are using a fitbit or other device that uses BLE? I had that issue, disabled the fitbit app and my music started working. Big difference tho, I could restart the google music app and it would start again...didn't require a phone reboot like you mentioned.
