I didn't even realise there was a newer model (i8200)! I Flashed via odin but it failed and now it's stuck in recovery/odin mode. It won't stay connected to Kies (just connects then un-connects - drivers all up-to-date) but it does show a connection in odin and stays connected. Will flashing a stock "i8200" firmware fix the problem? I feel so stupid, I've flashed loads of phones and never had an issue.
Flashing stock rom via odin worked (stock rom from sammobile)
Thats because people who make posts around these forums dont highlight the model in which their releases work. Rather than saying "Galaxy s3 mini" so people who think that same roms would work on a Value edition end up with a brick.
And yes you can get a stock rom from samsungs main firmware website and flash it with odoin.
Been there done that, :[

Try the one click then.

I see there are a lot of problems when flashing i9000 roms on the captivate
I need help also I have flashed I9000 on may captivate and every thing goes fine after that I have tried to install root to fix orientation problem and used GalaxyS_One-Click_Root_All_Models but it got into recovery mode and the volume up and down works and change the selection while power button can't select any Item and Every time I restart the device it goes into recovery mode .!!!!!!
Can any one help going out from recovery mode ???!!!!!
I was having the same problem I think mine had something to do with the usb port either it was physically damaged or something else was going on I finally got it as close to stock as I could turned the phone off and took it to att rep so it would only boot into download mode, he scratched his head then handed me a new one.
I am struggling with something that I hope that someone can help me out with. I just bought a galaxy tab from a buddy of mine. It is a T mobile tab that has had the phone option added (euro firmware I believe). This isnt my first foray into android modding as I had a tmobile vibrant before. In an attempt to get the phone into a useable state, I installed clockwork mod from the marketplace and selected the tmobile galaxy tab option. It installed without issue. I attempted to reboot into recovery through clockwork mod but it stalled out. I then entered recovery using the power and volume up combo. This worked. I installed the update.zip (as was always the case with the vibrant). Now, my tab shows a picture of an android with a yellow triangle with an exclmation mark over his head. I have tried using odin to flash new firmware (odin shows a com port but will not get past the connection phase). I have tried flashing the p1_hidden.pit file (no luck). I am at a loss. Any help would be a god send at this point.. Thanks in advance!
Bet you didn't check to see if you had locked bootloaders, huh...
You would be best to reflash stock rom, the rom that the tab was shipped with. You also need to do a bit more reading, I've never used update.zip but went to "chooose zip file to install" as most chefs don't name their roms update.zip.
Good luck with fixing, there is a sticky in the developement thread. I always keep my stock rom handy though in case of accidents...
You are in the secondary bootloader mode so as long as ODIN recognises it you should be ok....
Good luck...
Thanks for the feedback. I was able to get the tab into download mode and flashed the euro firmware. The whole point to doing this was to flash the Tmobile modem (I really dont need to use the tab as a phone) and since the modem is a zip file, I figured I would need to do this from recovery. I may give the modem flasher a try and see if that works for me. Thanks again.
i flashed darky rom 1.3 on my phone, ive been having some problems id get a lot of force closes and i wouldnt be able to call out when i do it would end the call after the first dial, id get no signal, id then get a force close, then signal would come back. so i went into cwm recovery. performed a full data wipe and tried to flash any other rom - rocket rom v12 and cassie xtra lite v5. on every type of rom i try even the kl7 stock deodexed, it just stays stuck on the samsung glaxy note gt n7000 screen and stays like that. for instance its been like that for the past 40 mins now at the side of me. i dont really know what to do, ive tried multiple data wipes inc dalveks cache. would flashing via odin help ? how do i do that. wondered if i could get some help guys.
Your phone is not bricked. Just entered a boot loop.
You just need to reflash an official firmware from Samsung, then you can flash a custom one over that. Be careful that zergrush or appropriate exploit is avaliable for the version of firmware that you will flash, you don't want to increase the binary counter
To enter download mode:
"Put your Galaxy Note in download mode. To accomplish this, power off your Galaxy Note and then power it back on while holding volume down and home button together with power key".
thanks for the reply, im a little rusty to flashing stock roms with odin i dont really know what to do, i have odin opened with all the necessary things checked, ive downloaded this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412959 stock kl7 but i just get a md5 tar file, how do i get the pda etc, that is ODIN way of doing it am i correct ?
am i right in thinking i can just resent the binary counter with a jiig sometime down the line ?
darkyrom
i had same issue with same rom and i flashed overa stock rom
aaaaaaits this rom bud, my note doesnt like it, try sheep rom, ive found that the best one out of all of them.
Hi All,
After searching, applying, installing a lot of ROMS, kernels, recoveries the last option I have is to ask you guys for help.
Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000
SSN: I9000GSMH
I put myself into this problem after flashing hardcore-speedmod.tar kernel which was a pre-requisite to flash CM9, after that I am not able to do anything, tried a lot of stock ROMS, froyo and gingerbread.
The particular problem which I have faced everytime is when ODIN, heimdall reaches the step to write bootloaders. ODIN fails with complete (write) operation failed and heimdall returns "failed to confirm end of file transfer sequence"
What I found that might be my phone's bootloader is locked, SIM locked or network locked but not sure and everywhere I have found the posts to unlock Galaxy NEXUS.
The ROMS I have tried on which the most successfull and I was able to boot the system after flashing and using "adb" was eugene373_samsungs_froyo_pda.
The best recovery I found and was able to flash was in the XWJSD.tar.gz (heimdall package), it shows after flashing the clockworkmode and speedmod with all the options of lagfixes, tweaks etc., but doesn't allow to boot the phone normally and always boots in recovery.
The phone always shows a splash of Galaxy AnyCall, though the tag behind screams that its not M110S. First AnyCall is displayed than the Galaxy S I9000 image is shown.
Waiting for answers from everybody gone through these experiences and found the solution.
Regards
Search on google: how to fix e:can't mount. Is the first download the .tar and flash it with odin

Just to confirm are you using a .pit file and all three of the PDA, PHONE and CSC files? I've never had Odin fail to flash over any mess I made on my phone.

Don't you think this is odd? Does your phone have an antenna on the side? , check right side top corner of phone its not very visible but can be pulled up, if there is one
or has been under repairs where motherboard have been changed or something like that ?
So basically I have a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate (i896) and it was running 2.1, so I decided to try and upgrade to the newest stock available for the captivate (which is 2.3.5). I had to use heimdall because I bought the phone used and it was rooted and possibly running a custom ROM so kies is not an option. When I put the phone in download mode the computer wouldn't recognize it (I'm on a Mac). I did alot of reading online and I couldn't find a solution. So I decided to flash a new ROM hoping that this would solve the problem.
So I flashed a random ICS ROM. But with this ROM I couldn't even access download mode. I tried a 3 button fix, I tried to use terminal to boot into download mode, and I tried to use ADB from my computer; nothing worked. So I figured I would flash another ROM (this time I used Hellybean) but when I tried to install it, a bunch of code ran on the screen and it said "installation aborted". Before attempting to flash this ROM I completely wiped the phone (i formatted the system from the mounts menu in CWM) and now the phone is showing the at&t logo, then going to black, then some code runs on the screen, then it goes black and starts the whole thing again.
I cant get to recovery or download mode.
Is it bricked? How do I fix this?
I don't know what I did wrong! any help would be appreciated.
P.s. I would really like to avoid building a jig because I feel like Im not too good at that kind of stuff....but if that's what it comes to...
Thanx in advance

I've tried all of those methods except for using a jig. Is it possible that while flashing a ROM my phone somehow lost download mode?
Also if all of those combos didn't work is it likely that a jig will work?
Looks like you started reading after you messed up the phone. Update instructions say clearly that you need GB bootloaders before you proceed to ICS or JB. You provide no information what exactly ROM you started from, what GB ROM you attempted to flash (with or without bootloaders), what exactly ICS you flashed after, what "some code" runs on the screen now, etc. It's a lot of guessing here. If bootloaders are messed up, than you won't be able to fix your phone at home. I have never seen a problem you describe, so wait for someone with more experience to stop by.
I got it going! All it needed was a jig and then I was able to flash stock GB with bootloaders.
Thanks for the help.
Good news! :good:
I have a Cappy and gingerbread boot loaders come in three flavours i897, i896 and i9000 and they're backwards compatible with froyo and éclair roms. Don't mix froyo and gb boot loaders though you will hard brick your device. I have i896(Canadian) boot loaders and when I flash kk4 [email protected] Odin gingerbread my "i896" boot screen is garbled image of pixels until I flash the proper param.lfs file to match. Hope this helps. BTW I have a jig as well and for all galaxy devices it's a must.
